Plymouth Argyle Football Club has been a staple of the English Football League for over a century, currently competing in the third-tier of the competition, League One.

Founded in 1886, the club has spent most of its history in England’s professional leagues, playing their home fixtures at Home Park, nicknamed “The Theatre of Greens”, since 1901.

With Exeter City being the only other Devon club competing in the Football League, Plymouth Argyle are one of the most popular teams in the south-west of England.

Peter Shilton is one of the most successful goalkeepers in English football history. He played for Leicester City from 1966 to 1974 and then spent two seasons with Stoke City.

In 1977, he moved to Nottingham Forest where he won the Football League Cup in 1979 and the FA Cup in 1980. He retired from playing in 1982 after helping Forest win promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history.

Shilton was appointed OBE in 2008 for his services to football and has since become a television pundit and ambassador for various charities concerned with children's welfare. Peter Shilton was born on 18 September 1949, which makes him 73 years old as of 2018.

Peter Shilton is one of the most decorated goalkeepers in English football history, having won 125 caps for his country. 

He first came to prominence with Southampton, and went on to play for Derby County, Plymouth Argyle and Wimbledon before ending his career with Bolton Wanderers.

In 1992 he took over as manager of newly promoted Plymouth Argyle, but was sacked after just six months due to poor results. He later had spells as assistant manager at Leicester City and Crystal Palace before retiring from coaching in 2009. 

Shilton has since continued to work as a pundit for BBC Sport, commentating on international matches and Premier League fixtures alike.

Dan Gosling was born on 1 February 1990 in Brixham, England. Dan Gosling began his career at Brixham United before joining Chelsea in 2007. Gosling played for Manchester City from 2011 to 2013 and then moved to AFC Bournemouth in 2015.

In total, Gosling has made over 190 appearances for Chelsea, Manchester City, and AFC Bournemouth. Dan Gosling is currently a midfielder for Watford and has won the FA Cup with them in 2018 Dan Gosling started his career at Plymouth Argyle before joining Everton.

Rory Fallon is a New Zealand international forward who has played for Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town and Swindon Town in the English Premier League. He started his career at Mount Albert Grammar before signing for Barnsley in 1999.

He scored 22 goals in 77 appearances for Swindon before joining Plymouth Argyle in 2009. Fallon made his full international debut for New Zealand in 2004 and has since gone on to become a regular member of the national team setup.

In May 2018, he was appointed assistant manager of New Zealand's national side following the resignation of Ricki Herbert.

Finn Azaz was born on 7 September 2000 in Westminster, England. He is an English footballer who currently plays for Plymouth Argyle on loan from Aston Villa.

Grobbelaar is most famously known for his time as a goalkeeper for Liverpool and Southampton. He played for both clubs for a total of 440 games. Grobbelaar also spent time on loan at Stoke City.

Paul Mariner was a centre forward who played for Plymouth Argyle in the 1970s and 1980s. Mariner was born in Farnworth, England in 1953. He started his career with Chorley in 1971 and made 135 appearances for the club over the next three years.

Paul Wotton began his career at Plymouth Argyle, making his debut in 1997. He played over 200 games for the club before leaving in 2003. He moved to Truro City in 2003 and has since made over 100 appearances for the club.

Tommy Tynan was born in Liverpool, England in 1955. Tynan began his career at Liverpool, where he played as a striker. He spent six seasons with the club before moving to Swansea City on a loan in 1975.

Paul Anderson was born on 23 July 1988 in Melton Mowbray, England. Anderson started his youth career with West Bromwich Albion, before moving to Hull City in 2006.

Lionel Ainsworth is a former English professional footballer who played as a winger. He began his career at Derby County where he made just two appearances before joining AFC Bournemouth on loan in 2006.

He then spent 2007–2008 on loan at Wycombe Wanderers before joining Watford. He made 13 appearances for Watford during his two years there before joining Hereford United in 2008. He spent two seasons at Hereford before joining AFC Sudbury in March 2012.

Moses Richard Russell was a Welsh full back who played for clubs including Cardiff City, Liverpool and Chelsea. He made his professional debut for Cardiff City in 1904 and went on to make over 250 appearances for the club.

He joined Liverpool in 1912 and helped the club to win the First Division title in 1914 and 1920. He moved to Chelsea in 1923 and played for the club until his retirement in 1935. Russell was capped 14 times by Wales and was a member of the side that won the Welsh Cup in 1927.

He was also a member of the Welsh national side that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 1930. Russell died in 1946 at the age of 58 after a long illness. He is regarded as one of the greatest full backs of his era and is still highly respected by fans and professionals alike.

Maurice Tadman was a prolific and successful centre forward during his time with Plymouth Argyle. He helped the club to two promotions, winning the Third Division championship in 1951-52 and the Second Division championship in 1954-55.

He also played in the FA Cup final in 1955, which the Pilgrims lost 2-1 to Manchester United. Tadman retired from professional football in 1960, having scored 244 goals in 427 appearances. He later worked as a football coach, taking charge of various clubs in the lower leagues.

Tadman died in 1994 at the age of 73. Maurice Tadman was a footballer who played for clubs in England and Northern Ireland. 

Tadman played for Charlton Athletic, Plymouth Argyle and Belfast Distillery in the Football League. He also made appearances for the Northern Ireland national team.

He started his career with Plymouth Argyle in the 1926-1933 season and played 145 games for the club scoring 82 goals. In 1933, he moved to Arsenal and played 123 games for the club, before moving to Newcastle United in 1937.

He made 48 appearances for Newcastle, before retiring in 1939. He went on to have a successful international career, playing for England from 1934-1936. 

He later had a long career as a manager, managing Plymouth Argyle, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace. He passed away on January 17th, 1998 at the age of 75.

Sammy Black was born on October 18, 1905 in Motherwell, Scotland. He died in 1977, aged 71, in Plymouth, England. Sammy was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper.

He played for Motherwell and Dundee United. Sammy Black was a member of the Scotland national football team. He was a member of the Scottish League XI. Sammy Black was a member of the Scottish Football League First Division team.

Sammy Black was a member of the Scottish Football League Second Division team. Sammy Black was a member of the Scottish Football League Third Division team. 

Sammy Black was an outside left who played for a number of teams in the Scottish Football League and the Football League Second Division over a period of around twenty years.

He started his career with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy before joining Plymouth Argyle in 1924. He helped the club to promotion to the First Division in his first season and remained with the club until 1938. 

He then signed for Queens Park Rangers, where he made five appearances, before returning to Plymouth Argyle. He retired from football in 1939.

Black was a prolific goalscorer and was named the Scottish Football League's Player of the Year in 1924. He also won two Scottish Cup medals with Plymouth Argyle. 

He is regarded as one of the best outside lefts to have played in Scotland and was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

George Dews was a left-handed batsman and right-handed wicket-keeper who played for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire in first-class cricket and football.

He was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, and played in 35 first-class matches between 1947 and 1953. He scored 1,034 runs at an average of 18.92 and took 21 catches and 2 stumpings.

In 1951, he played for Northamptonshire against Lancashire in the Gillette Cup and took 2 catches and 2 stumpings. He played football for Northamptonshire, Leicester City and Coventry City in the Football League between 1945 and 1954.

He died in 2003, aged 85. George Dews was an excellent cricketer and footballer who was known for his fielding and batting skills. 

He was born in Worcestershire in 1946 and played for Worcestershire between 1946 and 1961. He was also an excellent fielder and had 353 catches for the county, a record at the time.

He played football for Middlesbrough, Plymouth and Walsall and scored 85 goals. He passed away in March 2009 at the age of 80.

Fred Craig was born on January 16, 1891 in Larkhall, Scotland. Fred Craig played for Glenview in 1909 before moving to Plymouth Argyle in 1921. Craig was a goalkeeper and played a total of 376 games for Plymouth Argyle.

Fred Craig retired from playing in 1951 and later died on August 30, 1966 at the age of 75. Fred Craig was a member of the Scottish national team and was a part of the squad that competed in the 1920 Olympics. 

Craig is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in Plymouth Argyle history.

Fred Craig was inducted into the Plymouth Argyle Hall of Fame in 2007. Fred Craig is the father of former Plymouth Argyle player John Craig. 

Fred Craig was born on October 6th, 1895 in Airdrie, Scotland. Craig played for Airdrie, Ross Rovers, Larkhall Thistle, and Plymouth Argyle in the early 1900s.

Craig scored 38 goals in 111 appearances for Plymouth Argyle. Craig retired in 1931 and moved to Australia. Craig died in November of 2002. 

Craig was a prolific goalscorer and was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame in 1978. Craig is remembered as one of the greatest Scottish footballers of all time.
