South Shields Football Club is a historic football team steeped in success and tradition. Founded in 1888, the team has been a mainstay of the English football league system for over 130 years.

Currently competing in the Northern Premier League, the seventh tier of the English football league system, South Shields FC has grown a loyal fan base throughout its many years in existence.

Julio Arca is a versatile central midfielder who has played for clubs in Argentina, Spain and England. He was signed by Sunderland in January 2014 for £4 million.

Arca started his career with Quilmes before moving to Spanish side Valencia, where he won the Copa del Rey in 2006 and 2007. He then joined Barcelona, where he won three La Liga titles (2008-10), two Champions League crowns (2009-10) and the Club World Cup (2012).

In summer 2013, Arca moved to English side Manchester City but failed to win any silverware at the club. After leaving Manchester City, Arca spent time on loan at French club Lille before joining Sunderland on a permanent deal in January 2014. 

At Sunderland, Arca has been used as both a central midfielder and left wingback due to his versatility and attacking instincts off the ball; these have seen him score four goals from 21 appearances so far this season.

Jules began playing football aged six or seven with local team Independiente Juniors de Quilmes after being spotted practising by their coach while accompanying his parents during a shopping trip.

While attending college between 2001−2004 studying Business Administration, Jules also played semi-professional football for Racing Club Argentino Juniors – helping them reach promotion playoffs twice including runner up finishes behind.

George Ivey played for West Stanley and York City during his senior career. Ivey was a prolific goalscorer during his time with the two clubs, scoring 13 goals in 13 appearances. After retiring from playing, Ivey became a coach with Easington Colliery Welfare.

Ivey has been described as a "legend" of the game and is widely regarded as one of the best strikers of his era. Ivey was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Ivey was born in Sunderland in 1924. He died in December 2018 at the age of 92.
