Northampton Town Football Club, founded in 1897, is a professional association football club based in the town of Northampton, England. The team competes in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system.

The club has a long and storied history, having competed in the Midland League for two seasons before joining the Southern League in 1901. A year later, they won their first championship, a remarkable achievement that was followed by further successes in the 1920s and 1930s.

At present, the club is striving for promotion to the higher leagues, where they hope to challenge for silverware once again. As a well-loved and respected institution in the Northampton area, Northampton Town FC has earned a place in the hearts of its loyal supporters.

Ivan Toney is an English striker who currently plays for Brentford in the Championship. 

Ivan was born on 16 March 1996 in Northampton, England. At 5ft 10in tall, he is tall and imposing forward with great scoring potential.

Ivan started his youth career at Leicester City before joining Brentford in 2016 as an 18-year-old graduate from their academy system. 

He made his professional debut during the 2017–18 season and has since established himself as one of the key players for Brentford, having scored 20 goals in 77 appearances so far.

Ivan has represented England at various age levels up to an under-21 level where he won three caps.

With many talented young strikers coming through the ranks at clubs all over Europe, it will be interesting to see if Ivan can maintain his place in top-flight football for much longer.

He joined Newcastle United on loan in 2015 but only made 2 appearances before returning to Barnsley the following year. In 2016, he moved up a division to join Shrewsbury Town on loan where he made 9 appearances before returning to Barnsley at the end of his loan spell. 

In 2017, he joined Scunthorpe United on a season-long loan and was impressed enough that they opted not to sign him permanently after it expired; instead sending him back to Barnsley shortly afterward.

In 2018, he signed for Wigan Athletic on a season-long deal and helped them reach League One play-offs where they were beaten by Bristol City in the semi final stage; this was his first taste of senior football outside of Northampton Town's league system. 

He rejoined Peterborough United as their new permanent manager announced their Championship campaign ahead of the 2020/2021 season - with 94 apps (55 goals) under his belt already.

Guthrie started his career at hometown club, Devizes Town. In 2012, Guthrie joined Northampton Town and has since made over 100 appearances for the club.

Guthrie is a versatile defender who can also play as a forward or midfielder when needed. He was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year for 2016-17 season and has been nominated for this award again in 2017-18 season so far.

In May 2018 he signed a new contract with Northampton Town until 2022 Jon Guthrie began his career at local side Pewsey Vale, before joining Crewe Alexandra in 2008. He made 122 appearances for the Alex over three seasons, scoring 10 goals.

In 2012, Guthrie was loaned out to Leek Town, where he enjoyed some success and won promotion to the Conference Premier with them. He returned to Crewe Alexandra in 2016 but left the following year after failing to agree a new contract with the club.

After spells with Walsall and Livingston, Jon retuned to Northampton Town in January 2021 and has since played 69 times for them withoutscoring.

Chambers started his career at Middlesbrough and after making over 100 appearances for the club, he was signed by Ipswich Town in 2013. 

Chambers has won two Premier League titles with Ipswich Town (2015, 2017), as well as the FA Cup (2016) and EFL Cup (2017).

He represented England at youth level before making his senior debut in 2010. Chambers announced his retirement from professional football on 2 December 2018 following 18 seasons playing professionally Chambers started his career at Northampton Town, before moving to Nottingham Forest in 2007.

Chambers was a regular for both clubs during his time there, making 376 appearances and scoring 18 goals. Chambers joined Ipswich Town on a free transfer in 2012 and made 32 appearances over two seasons with them before signing for Colchester United in January 2021.

Hoskins is an attacking midfielder who has spent the majority of his career with Northampton Town. Hoskins made his professional debut in 2009 and has since scored over 100 league goals for the club.

He was instrumental in helping Northampton win promotion to League One in 2013, scoring 16 times during the season. Hoskins signed for Derby County on a three-year deal in July 2014 but left the club after just 18 months due to personal reasons.

He rejoined Northampton on a permanent deal later that year and helped them secure promotion back to League One as champions. Hoskins has represented England at under-21 level and featured regularly for Gareth Southgate's side during their successful Euro 2016 campaign.

Sam Hoskins currently plays for Northampton Town Hoskins began his career at Oakwood Rangers before joining Southampton in 2005. 

He made 275 appearances for the Saints, scoring 60 goals. Hoskins left Southampton in 2011 to join Preston North End on loan. 

He later joined Rotherham United on a temporary basis and played 8 games for them before returning to Yeovil Town where he has since been prolific, scoring 31 goals in total.

Hoskins signed with Stevenage on a short-term loan deal in 2013 and helped them stay up during his time there by scoring 14 times from midfield over the course of two seasons.

Since then, he has become an integral part of Roy Hodgson's side and won promotion back to the Championship as champions last year.

Ben Tozer was born in Plymouth, England on 1 March 1990. He started his career with Northampton Town and played for them from 2008 to 2013. In 2013, he moved to Wrexham and has since made over 100 appearances for the club.

Ben is a central defender who is known for his strong aerial ability and good tackling technique. He has been named as captain of Wrexham this season and is hoping to help the team achieve promotion back to the Football League .

Ben Tozer is a Welsh international footballer who has played for Plymouth Argyle, Newcastle United and Northampton Town. He started his career at Swindon Town before joining Newcastle United in 2007.

Saheed Adebayo Akinfenwa is a striker who has played for clubs in England and Lithuania. He began his career at Watford before joining Barry Town in 2003.

After brief spells with FK Atlantas and Wolverhampton Wanderers, he signed for AFC Wimbledon in 2015 where he still plays today. 

Akinfenwa has scored over 100 goals during his career, including 49 league goals for AFC Wimbledon which makes him the club's all-time leading scorer.

He has represented England at under-21 level and made one appearance for the senior team, coming on as a substitute against Sweden in November 2013.

Terry Branston was born in Rugby, England on July 25, 1938. Branston started his football career with local side Coventry City. He soon became a key player for the club and helped them win the Football League Championship in 1963.

Branston then moved to Tottenham Hotspur and helped them win the FA Cup in 1971. He later played for Derby County, Watford, and Aston Villa. Branston ended his career with Coventry City in 1984. He later became a coach with the club.

Branston died on December 22, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. He was 72 years old. Terry Branston began his senior career with Northampton Town in the 1958-1960 season. Branston played a total of 448 games for Northampton Town, scoring 12 goals.

Branston then transferred to Luton Town in 1967 where he played 101 games and scored 9 goals. Branston then transferred to Lincoln City in 1970 where he played 100 games and scored one goal. Branston then transferred to Nuneaton Borough in 1973 where he played a total of 44 games and scored 3 goals.

Branston retired from playing in the 1975-1976 season. Terry Branston was born on October 2, 1938 in Northampton, England. Branston died on January 31, 2018 in Northampton, England.

Ryan Gilligan is an attacking midfielder who has played for Watford and Premier League sides Watford and Sunderland. Ryan Gilligan began his career at Watford, making his first-team debut in 2003.

Joe Kiernan was a Scottish footballer who played as a left wing half. He made his debut for Aberdeen in the 1960-61 season and went on to make over 400 appearances for the club.

He also played for Rangers and Stoke City before retiring in 1982. After his retirement, Kiernan worked as a football coach. He died in 2006 after a long battle with cancer. Joe Kiernan was fondly remembered by his former Aberdeen and Rangers teammates.

His death marked the end of an era in Scottish football. Joe Kiernan was awarded the MBE for his services to football in the 1983 Queen's Birthday Honours. He is survived by his wife and two children. Joe Kiernan was a Sunderland player from the late 1960s until the early 1970s.

He played 308 games for Northampton Town and scored 13 goals. Kiernan was a versatile player, able to play as a forward or a midfielder. 

He was part of the Northampton Town team that won the 1972 FA Cup. Kiernan later played for Kettering Town. He retired from football in the early 1990s.

Ash Taylor is a defender who currently plays for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership. Taylor made his senior debut in 2010 for Tranmere Rovers and has since played for clubs including Watford, Reading and Kilmarnock.

David Bowen was a Welsh wing half who played for Northampton Town between 1947-1950. Bowen made 12 appearances for Northampton Town during his time with the club.

He is best remembered for his defensive work and was a key member of the Northampton side that reached the FA Cup quarter finals in 1950. Bowen later played for Reading and Northampton Town again, before retiring in 1971.

David Bowen died in 1995 at the age of 67. He is regarded as one of the finest wing halves to have played in the English Football League. Bowen was a member of the Welsh national team and made 18 appearances. He is also a member of the Northampton Town Hall of Fame.

Dave Bowen was born in Maesteg, Wales in 1928 and died in 1995. Dave Bowen is a Welsh international who played for Northampton Town between 1959 and 1972.

Danny Jackman began his career at Aston Villa, where he played in the lower leagues. After a loan to Cambridge United, he joined Stockport County in 2003.

He made a name for himself at County, winning promotion to the Football League in 2006. He remained at Stockport County until 2010, when he joined Birmingham City.

He made over 100 appearances for City and helped them to win promotion to the Premier League in 2013. He left Birmingham City in 2015 and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He left Wolves in 2018 and joined Derby County. He left Derby County in 2019 and joined Bristol City. He retired from professional football in 2019, after spending two years with Bristol City.

Danny Jackman played as a midfielder for Stockport County and Gillingham in the Football League. He was player-assistant coach for Worcester City in 2017, and was promoted to player-coach for the 2018 season.

He has represented England at youth levels, and has also played for the under-21 team. He is a regular for Bromsgrove Sporting in the National League North.

18. Tommy Fowler

Tommy Fowler was an English football player who played for Leicester City, Chelsea and Northampton Town. Fowler played for Leicester City from 1950 to 1959, before moving to Chelsea for a further four seasons.

He joined Northampton Town in 1964, and played for the club until his retirement in 1972. Fowler won the FA Cup with Chelsea in 1955 and was also named the club's Player of the Year that season. Fowler represented England at international level, making his debut in 1949.

Fowler later served as Northampton Town's manager, leading the club to the Football League Second Division championship in 1978. Fowler died aged 84 in 2009 after a long illness. 

He was inducted into the Leicester City and Chelsea Halls of Fame in 2009 and the Northampton Town Hall of Fame in 2010.

Fowler was a highly respected and popular figure in the football community, and was widely regarded as one of the best outside lefts of his era.

Barry Tucker played full back for Swansea City from 1971 to 1984. Tucker helped Swansea to the League Cup in 1978 and the FA Cup in 1981. He also won 10 Wales caps between 1974 and 1984.

Kelvin Langmead is a defender who has played for Preston North End and Carlisle United in the English Football League. Langmead has represented England at under-16 and under-18 levels.

Scott McGleish was born on 10 February 1974 in Barnet, England. Scott started his career at Edgware Town, before joining Charlton Athletic in 1994. He then spent two seasons at Leyton Orient, before moving to Peterborough United in 1996.

Jack English was born in Hebburn, England on December 13th 1886. Jack English started his senior career with Hebburn Argyle in 1906 and remained with the team until 1923.

Graham Carr was born on October 25th, 1944 in Corbridge, England. Carr played 85 matches for Northampton Town in the 1960s, before moving to York City in 1968.

He helped the club to promotion to the Football League in 1969. Carr spent two seasons with Altrincham before moving to Telford United in 1971. He spent two seasons with the club before joining Poole Town in 1973.

Carr spent two seasons with Poole Town before joining Dartford in 1975. He spent two seasons with the club before retiring in 1978. Carr later became a football coach, working with both Northampton Town and York City.

Frank Large was born in Leeds, England in 1940. Large played for Halifax Town and Queens Park Rangers in the 1960s. Large died in 2003 in Ireland after a long and successful career in football.

Large was a center forward and is widely considered one of the best players in the history of the game. Large was a key member of the Queens Park Rangers team that won the 1966 FA Cup. Large also won the League Cup with QPR in 1967.

Theo Foley was a right back who played for Home Farm in the 1955 season. Foley made his debut for Ireland in 1957 and went on to make 20 appearances for his country.

Foley played for Liverpool for two seasons before retiring in 1968. After retiring from football, Foley worked as a coach for several clubs. Foley passed away on 26 June 2020 at the age of 83.

Theo Foley was born in Exeter, Devon, in 1955. Foley started his career as a player with Exeter City in the 1955–1961 season. He scored 155 goals in 155 appearances for the club. In 1961, Foley joined Northampton Town.

He played 204 games for the club and scored 8 goals. In 1967, Foley joined Charlton Athletic. He played 6 games for the club and scored 0 goals. Foley retired from playing in 1968. He then started working as a coach with Charlton Athletic.

In 1970, Foley became manager of Charlton Athletic. He stayed in the role for 2 seasons. In 1974, Foley became manager of Northampton Town. He stayed in the role for 2 seasons. Foley retired from coaching in 1990. He then started working as a scout for Charlton Athletic.

Foley died in Exeter, Devon, on 7 October 2016.
