The Edmonton Oil Kings are a major junior ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, that are part of the Western Hockey League. Established in 2007, the Oil Kings are owned by Daryl Katz’s Oilers Entertainment Group, who also own the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oil Kings have a proud history of success on the ice, having won the WHL Championship three times and producing a number of NHL alumni. The Oil Kings are committed to providing the highest quality hockey experience for their players and fans, and strive to be an integral part of the Edmonton community.

Mark Pysyk is a 30-year-old defenceman who was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. 

Pysyk has played for five different teams during his nine-year NHL career, including stints with the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and most recently, the Buffalo Sabres.

He earned his first career hat trick on October 12th, 2016 against the Carolina Hurricanes and finished with eight points (three goals and five assists) in 14 games that season. 

In 2017–18, Pysyk had another productive season as he scored six goals and added 22 assists for 28 points in 68 games played. 

However he missed time due to injury throughout much of 2018–19 campaign scoring just one goal through 41 games before being traded to Winnipeg Jets at trade deadline where he currently plays.

Michael St. Croix was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 10th 1993. He is 5' 11" tall and weighs 179 lbs. Michael plays centre for the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL and has done so since 2015-16 season where he has recorded 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists).

In addition to his hockey career, Michael is also a model and actor who has appeared in several television commercials as well as starred in two short films - 'The Other Side' (2017) and 'Wasted Youth'(2018). 

Outside of hockey, Michael enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as doing modeling work or taking part in acting workshops whenever he can fit them into his busy schedule.

Michael St. Croix was drafted by the Rangers in the 106th overall pick in 2011 after playing with Winkler Royals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. 

He has played for Greenville Road Warriors, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, and New York Rangers since 2013-14 NHL season where he has accrued 10 goals and 38 points in 157 games played.

Griffin Reinhart is a 28-year-old defenceman who was drafted by the New York Islanders in the first round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. 

Reinhart has spent his entire career with the Islanders, making his debut in 2013 and playing every game for them over that season and all but one game of 2014–15.

He scored 29 points in 2016–17, helping lead New York to their first Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance since 2007 and their fourth overall. 

In 2017–18, he had 35 points including five goals as the Isles reached their second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals before losing to Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.

Rehart won a gold medal at the 2018 World Championship with Canada where they finished as runners up to Sweden after taking home silver medals at both Olympic Games (2012) and World Junior Championships (2010). 

The Vancouver native represented Canada internationally until 2015 when he decided to switch allegiance to represent the United States national team beginning with the 2016 IIHF.

World Championship held in Russia where they have crowned champions following a 7-game series win against Finland which included an overtime goal from Reinhart himself.

This made him only player is ever known to have played for three different nations' junior teams - Canadian under 18s, American under 20s then Team North America's senior squad at Worlds (2013).

In December 2018 it was announced that Reinhart would join Team North America for 2019 Men’s International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship Division I Group A play starting on January 5th 2020 alongside fellow Canadians John Tavares & Auston Matthews.

Henrik Samuelsson is a right wing who played with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2015. Henrik Samuelsson was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

He has also played for HC Zlin and Djurgårdens IF in Sweden, as well as Frolunda HC and AIK in Finland. In 205 AHL games, Samuelsson has scored 66 goals and added 84 assists for 158 points, while recording 447 penalty minutes. 

His father, Ulf Samuelsson, was also a professional hockey player who spent time with several teams including Frölunda HC of Sweden’s Elitserien league and Jokerit Helsinki of Finland’s SM-liiga championship during his 18-year career from 1984 to 1999).

The speedy winger made his NHL debut on February 24th, 2014 against Tampa Bay Lightning under head coach Adam Oates. In just 11 games that season he recorded 2 goals and 1 assist before being sidelined indefinitely due to an ankle injury which required surgery.

On July 9th he signed a one-year contract extension with Washington worth $675 000.

However after only appearing in 10 more games for Washington over two seasons it was announced on October 3rd 2017 that Henrik would be returning to Europe signing a three year deal with Swiss club SC Bern.

Trey Fix-Wolansky is a Canadian right wing player who currently plays for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Trey Fix-Wolansky was drafted by the Oilers in the first round, 27th overall, of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Dysin Mayo is a 26-year-old defenceman who was born in Victoria, British Columbia. Mayo started playing hockey at a young age and quickly became a standout player.

Dylan Wruck is a forward for the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. Wruck was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Tomáš Vincour was born in 1990 in Brno, Czechoslovakia. He is 6’2” and weighs 205 pounds. He is a right winger and plays for ELH team. Vincour has had a successful career in the Czech Extraliga, where he has played for HC Kladno, HC Energie Karlovy Vary, and HC Slavia Praha.

Luke Prokop is a German-born, Edmonton-raised defenseman who is playing in the AHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings. 

Selected in the first round, 20th overall, in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames, Prokop is a highly-touted prospect who is expected to be a key player for the Oil Kings in the upcoming season.

Prokop has a ton of talent and is expected to be a top-tier defenseman in the NHL one day. He is a natural skater with good mobility and the ability to move the puck well. Prokop is also strong defensively and is a good penalty killer. 

He has a good work ethic and is always trying to improve his game. Prokop is a promising young player and is expected to continue developing into a great defenseman in the NHL.

Kristiāns Pelšs was a 20-year-old college student when he was killed in a car crash. Pelšs was a promising young basketball player who had dreams of playing in the NBA.

Pelšs was a member of the Latvian national basketball team and had competed in the European Championships. Pelšs was widely admired for his playing skills and personality.

He was a popular member of the college community. Pelšs is survived by his parents and two sisters. His death has left his family devastated. The Pelšs family is working to establish a fund in Kristiāns' memory to support young basketball players.

Kristiāns Pelšs was a dedicated student and athlete who will be deeply missed. Kristiāns Pelšs is a forward who played for the DHK Latgale team in Latvia and then the Oklahoma City Barons in the NHL. Pelšs was drafted in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

Pelšs played his entire playing career in the NHL with the Oilers. Pelšs retired in 2013. Pelšs was a member of the Latvia national team.

Brett Breitkreuz was born in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1989. Brett is a left wing player who has played for the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's Norfolk Admirals.

Brett has also represented Canada at the World Championships, the World Junior Championships, and the World Cup of Hockey. Brett is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Anaheim Ducks.

Laurent Brossoit is a goaltender for the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, but did not sign with them.

He then signed with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. Brossoit has played in 67 AHL games, compiling a record of 33-27-6 with a 2.64 GAA and .907 save percentage. Brossoit was called up to the Oilers on March 2, 2016, but did not play in a game for them.

On March 30, 2016, Brossoit was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Jussi Jokinen. Brossoit made his NHL debut for the Jets on April 5, 2016, in a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. 

On October 6, 2016, Brossoit was placed on waivers by the Jets and was subsequently claimed by the Edmonton Oilers.

Brossoit has appeared in three games for the Oilers, posting a 1-2-0 record with a 3.82 GAA and .890 save percentage.

Galen Head was born on April 16, 1947 in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. He died on March 14, 2020 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, U.S. at the age of 72. Head was a Canadian artist who specialized in painting landscapes and seascapes.

Galen Head was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Governor General's Award for Visual and Media Arts in 1987, the Canada Council Award for Painting in 1990, and the Order of Canada in 2000.

Galen Head's work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums across Canada and in Europe, the United States, and Asia. 

Head's paintings are noted for their use of light and colour to evoke the natural environment. Galen Head was a prolific scorer in the NHL, amassing over 500 points in his career.

Head played for the Detroit Red Wings and was a part of their Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1970 and 1973. 

He was also a member of the Canada national team, playing in the Summit Series in 1972 and the World Championships in 1974. Head retired from hockey in 1976. Galen Head was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.

He is currently a hockey analyst for TSN. Galen Head is a respected member of the hockey community and is highly respected for his skills on the ice. 

He is currently the president and CEO of the Galen Head Foundation. Head is a philanthropist and has donated money to a number of charities.

Kerry Ketter is a retired professional wrestler and actor. Ketter was born in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, on September 20, 1947. He started wrestling in the early 1970s and won numerous championships.

Ketter also appeared in several Hollywood films, including "The Karate Kid" and "The Dead Pool." He retired from professional wrestling in 1998 and now lives in California. Ketter is a published author and has a Master's degree in criminology.

He is married to his wife, Joanne, and they have two children. Ketter is a member of the Canadian Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Kerry Ketter passed away on October 2, 2017, at the age of 75. Kerry Ketter was a defenseman for the Atlanta Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings.

Ketter was a tough defender who was known for his shot blocking ability. Ketter played his entire career in the NHL and was a member of the Stanley Cup-winning Edmonton Oilers in 1975. 

Ketter retired from the NHL in 1976, but continued to play in the minor leagues for the next few years. Ketter passed away in 1996 after a long battle with cancer.

He was 53 years old. Ketter was a respected defender in the NHL and is remembered as one of the league's all-time great shot blockers. Ketter's death was a tragic event and he will be missed by many fans.

Ron Jones was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos and the Toronto Argonauts. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

He was also a member of the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Jones was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2009 and died in 2013. He was 71 years old.

Jones was born in 1951 in Vermilion, Alberta. He played college football at the University of Utah. He was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos in the first round of the 1973 CFL Draft.

Jones played for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1973 to 1978, the Toronto Argonauts from 1978 to 1980, and the Calgary Stampeders from 1980 to 1983. 

Ron Jones is best known for his time with the Boston Bruins, where he was a key part of the team's Stanley Cup-winning squad in 1972.

Jones was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round of the 1971 NHL Draft, but never played a game for the team. 

He was later traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played for two seasons. Jones then spent one season with the Bruins before retiring from professional hockey.

Currie is a retired professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League. He was a right winger and played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Hartford Whalers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Colorado Avalanche.

Currie was born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia and played junior hockey for the Halifax Mooseheads. 

He was drafted in the fifth round, 67th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft. Currie made his NHL debut with the Flyers in the 1979-80 season and played for them until he was traded to the Hartford Whalers in the 1985-86 season.

He then played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche before retiring in 1994. Currie was a two-time All-Star and won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 1996. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002. 

Currie is a motivational speaker and has coached players in the NHL and at the minor league level. Currie and his wife, Tish, have two children.

Currie has been involved in a number of charity work, including work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Currie currently resides in Nova Scotia and works as a hockey commentator for TSN.

Randy Wyrozub was born on April 8, 1950 in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. He is 5'11" tall and weighs 170 pounds. He played centre for the Edmonton Oilers from 1972 to 1984.

He was also a member of the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, and Hartford Whalers. He retired from playing in 1988. Wyrozub has since worked as a broadcaster for the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames.

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995. He has two children, Kelly and Jason. Wyrozub is currently a broadcaster for the Edmonton Oilers. Randy Wyrozub was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Draft 43rd overall in 1970.

Wyrozub played for the Indianapolis Racers (WHA) from 1970-1979. Wyrozub was inducted into the Indiana Hockey Hall of Fame in 1985. Wyrozub retired from hockey in 1979. Randy Wyrozub passed away in 2004.

Gregg Boddy is a retired Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos, Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Boddy played college football for the University of Wyoming and was drafted in the tenth round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers.

He played for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1972 to 1983 and was a part of the team that won the 1978 Grey Cup. He was traded to the Toronto Argonauts in 1984 and played for them until 1992. 

He was then traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and played for them until 1996. Boddy was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

He retired in 1997 and later became a coach for the Edmonton Eskimos. He was the defensive coordinator for the Edmonton Eskimos from 2003 to 2006 and was the head coach for the Edmonton Eskimos from 2007 to 2011. 

Boddy was hired as the defensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2012.

Final Words

The Edmonton Oil Kings have had a number of talented players over the years. Some of the best players to ever wear the Oil Kings uniform include Paul Kariya, Jarome Iginla, and Connor McDavid.
