Vargas has been involved in several controversial bouts, including one against Russian heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev which resulted in a 10-round draw, and a fight with Timothy Bradley which was ruled a majority decision loss in his favor.

Vargas has also been involved in several criminal cases, including an assault charge in 2006 and a weapons charge in 2007. Vargas was born in Mexicali, Mexico, and is of Mexican descent.

Pavlik made his first defence of the IBF welterweight title against then-undefeated Juan Manuel Marquez in November of 2010. The fight was a close contest, but Pavlik emerged victorious by unanimous decision.

In March of 2011, Pavlik faced then-undefeated Timothy Bradley for the WBO welterweight title. Pavlik was heavily favored to win the fight, but was knocked out in the 12th round. Pavlik returned to the ring in November of 2011 and faced undefeated Ruslan Provodnikov. 

Pavlik emerged victorious by unanimous decision and regained the IBF welterweight title. Pavlik faced then-undefeated Paul Smith in a rematch for the IBF welterweight title in June of 2012.

Pavlik retained the title by unanimous decision. Pavlik is currently scheduled to face WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in a highly anticipated bout for the WBO welterweight title in May of 2014.

LaMotta was banned from boxing for a period of time due to his behaviour in the ring. He later made a comeback and had several further successful years in the ring. 

LaMotta retired from boxing in 1957 and later became a boxing coach. He died in 1981 at the age of 59. LaMotta was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1980 and the New York Sports Hall of Fame in 1984.

Jake LaMotta is rightly considered one of the greatest fighters of all time and his legacy will live on forever. He is a true legend of the sport.

Calzaghe was born in Wales in 1967 and started boxing at the age of 10. He won the Welsh middleweight title in 1990 and the WBO Super-middleweight title in 1993. 

He won the WBA Light-heavyweight title in 1997 and defended it five times before losing it to Lennox Lewis in 2002.
