The Vancouver Giants are a proud major junior ice hockey team that has been playing in the Western Hockey League since 2001-02. The team has had a successful history, including a President’s Cup victory in 2006 and a Memorial Cup in 2007.

The Giants have called the Pacific Coliseum, previously used by the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, their home rink since their inception. Recently, the team relocated to the Langley Events Centre for the 2016-17 season, and continue to strive for excellence on the ice.

Bowen Byram is a 21-year-old forward with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Avs in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Prior to joining North America's top ice hockey league, Byram played junior hockey for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL). 

In addition to his professional career, he also competed for Team Canada at both under-17 and under-18 levels before being sidelined by an injury during last year's World Juniors tournament.

Bowen enjoys spending time outdoors; whether it's hunting or fishing with family and friends, enjoying mountain biking or hiking trails near his hometown of Cranbrook BC. Bowen Byram was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 4th round of the 2019 NHL Draft. 

He is a defenceman and shoots left. Bowen has played for the Avalanche since 2021, having made his professional debut that year with their AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

In 54 games with San Antonio this season, he recorded seven goals and 33 assists to lead all players in scoring on his team. Bowen also represented Canada at both Under-17 (2017) and Under-18 (2018) levels before making his senior international debut in December 2018.

Milan Lucic is a talented left winger who has spent his entire career with the Calgary Flames. He was drafted by the Flames in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has since become one of their most important players.

Lucic is known for his physical play and lethal shot, which makes him a dangerous player on offence. He has won multiple awards over the course of his career, including being named to both the All-Star team and the Stanley Cup champion in 2017.

In 2019, he signed a five-year contract extension with Calgary that will keep him with the team until 2023 Milan Lucic is a talented left winger who has played in the NHL for six years. 

Milan Lucic was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2006 and has spent most of his career with them.

Tyler Benson is a forward for the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League. He was drafted in the 2nd round, 47th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Tyler played collegiately at Boston University where he won two NCAA Championships with them in 2018 and 2019 as well as being named to both The All-American First Team and The ECAC Second Team both seasons.

In his rookie season with Bakersfield, Tyler scored 28 goals and 36 assists for 62 points while also recording 66 penalty minutes in 76 games played which led all AHL rookies that year.

He has since increased those totals to 41 goals and 59 assists for 102 points along with 117 penalty minutes in 132 games played through 14 playoff appearances thus far; leading all condors players ever.

Tyler's father Brett was also a professional hockey player who spent parts of 10 seasons playing mainly in Europe before retiring after an injury sustained during a game against Sweden’s AIK Stockholm which ended his career at just 27 years old.

This gave young tyler some great perspective about not only what it takes to be successful but life itself too when it comes to dealing with adversity on ice or off (something he talks about often).

Tyler married fellow Bruins alum Maddie Rooney back in March of 2020 shortly after their graduation from BU together, they welcomed their first child into this world just one month later on April 15th - a girl they christened Harper Rose Benson.

Evander Kane is a left wing who has played for the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Atlanta Thrashers. Evander Kane was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

He had his best season with the Vancouver Canucks in 2011-12 where he scored 30 goals and 58 points. In July 2014, Evander Kane was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Ryan O'Reilly and Mikhail Grabovski .

The following year (2015), Evander Kane signed with Russian team HC Sochi where he spent one season before returning to North America again with the Buffalo Sabres ahead of the 2016-17 season. 

In 2017-18, Evander Kane led all scoring forwards on Team Canada at during their Olympic Qualifying tournament earning him a spot on their roster for PyeongChang 2018 as an injury replacement for Sidney Crosby.

Evander Kane has been suspended multiple times throughout his career including two suspensions from 2017 onwards after sexual assault allegations were made against him which he has denied.

Brendan Gallagher is a 30-year-old Canadian forward who has spent his entire professional career with the Montreal Canadiens. Gallagher was drafted by the Canadiens in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

He has since played in over 500 career games, scoring over 150 goals and 200 assists. Gallagher is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning in 2015 with the Canadiens. He also won a gold medal with Canada at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Grant was born in 1984 in Neepawa, Manitoba. Grant started his career in 2001, appearing in a number of motion pictures and television shows.

Grant is best known for his roles as Peter Petrelli on the television series "Heroes" and as Chase Edmunds on the television series "The O.C." Grant has also appeared in a number of stage productions. 

Grant is currently married and has two children. Triston Grant is a musician and has released two albums. Grant is a member of the Canadian Screen Award governing body, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. 

Triston Grant is a versatile actor who has appeared in a variety of roles. Triston Grant was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2004 NHL Draft and played for the Flyers, Nashville Predators, and the New York Rangers.

Grant was a left-wing who scored 29 goals and added 53 assists for 82 points in his NHL career. Grant announced his retirement from professional hockey in 2018. 

Grant was a member of the United States National Team Development Program and played for the United States at the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2005 and 2007. Grant is currently an assistant coach for the University of Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team.

Craig Cunningham is a winger with the Boston Bruins. Cunningham has played in the NHL for six seasons, including three with the Bruins. Cunningham has scored 109 goals and 142 assists for 269 points in his career.

Cunningham was a member of the Canadian national team for four years, including a gold medal in the 2014 Olympics. Cunningham is married and has two children. Craig Cunningham was drafted in the 97th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Draft.

Meszároš was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Meszároš played for HC Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. Meszároš signed with the Bruins as a free agent in 2013.

Meszároš made his NHL debut with the Bruins in the 2013-14 season. Meszároš played in 73 games for the Bruins in the 2014-15 season. Meszároš was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in the offseason. Meszároš played in 31 games for the Oilers in the 2015-16 season.

Meszároš was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the offseason. Meszároš played in 18 games for the Penguins in the 2016-17 season. Andrej Meszároš was drafted 23rd overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2004 NHL Draft. Meszarosš played his entire professional career with the Ottawa Senators.

Meszarosš has played in 567 NHL games, scoring 109 goals and adding 177 assists. Meszarosš won a gold medal with Slovakia at the 2010 Winter Olympics. 

Meszarosš is a two-time all-star, and was named to the NHL's Second All-Star Team in 2010. Meszarosš is a fan-favorite with the Ottawa Senators, and is often referred to as "The Captain".

Meszarosš will be retiring at the end of the 2017-18 season. Meszarosš is married and has two children. Andrej Meszarosš is a role model to many young hockey players, and has helped to mold many young stars into the successful players they are today.

Mário Bližňák was born on March 6, 1987 in Trenčín, Slovakia. He is a Slovak-born centerman who played in the NHL for the Vancouver Canucks. He has also played for HC Sparta Praha and HK Dubnica.

He is a two-time Czech Hockey League champion and a silver medalist at the World Championships. He is a physical player who is known for his good skating. He was named to the Czech Republic's national team for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

He played in the Czech Extraliga and the Kontinental Hockey League. He played at the 2012 World Championships and won a silver medal.

Blum began his professional career with German club Munich in 2008. He made his International debut for the United States in 2009 and has since played for the country at various junior levels.

In December 2016, Henry won the ROH World Championship from Jay Lethal in a match that also involved the returning Kenny Omega. Henry defended the title against Omega in a rematch the following month, and then lost the title to Cody Rhodes in a match that also involved the returning Adam Cole.

Miloš Roman is a Slovakia-born centre-forward who currently plays for Hungarian club Debrecen. He has played for Slovakia at under-17, under-19, and under-21 level, and was part of the under-21 side that won the 2017 European Championship.

Robin Kovář was born in 1984 in Valašské Meziříčí, Czechoslovakia. At 6'1", Kovář is a forward who shoots right. Kovář has played in the NHL for the Milton Keynes Lightning, HC Vsetín, HC Zlín, and HC Havirov.

Kovář has also played in the Czech Extraliga, the Slovak Extraliga, and the Austrian Hockey League. Kovář is currently playing for HC Vsetín in the Czech Extraliga.

 Robin Kovář played for HC Kometa Brno and HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas before moving to Eindhoven Kemphanen in the Netherlands in 2001.

Kovář then spent two seasons with HKm Zvolen before joining Manchester Phoenix in England in 2004. Kovář spent four seasons with the Phoenix before moving to Swindon Wildcats in 2006.

 Kovář spent two seasons with the Wildcats before joining Yertis Pavlodar in Kazakhstan in 2009. Kovář moved back to the Czech Republic in 2010 and joined the Hokiklub Budapest club.

Kovář joined the Blackburn Hawks in the NHL in 2016. Kovář signed with the Edmonton Oilers in 2020.

37. Paul Fricker

Paul Fricker is a goaltender who played in the NHL for 17 seasons. He was drafted in the 1980 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, but never played a game for them.

He played for the Binghamton Whalers, Oklahoma City Stars, and Salt Lake Golden Eagles before retiring in 1997. He has two daughters and one son. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009.

He currently works as a goaltending coach for the Detroit Red Wings. Paul Fricker is 6'1" and weighs 190lb. Paul Fricker was a long time goaltending coach for the Vancouver Giants. Fricker helped the Vancouver Giants to win the Memorial Cup in 2014.

Fricker was a member of the Delta Flyers coaching staff that won the inaugural IHL championship in 1986. Fricker is a graduate of the University of Michigan. 

Fricker played for the Hartford Whalers from 1979 to 1985. Fricker was a part of the Delta Flyers coaching staff when they won the IHL championship in 1986.

Fricker is currently the goaltending coach for the Vancouver Giants. Fricker has a record of 29-23-0 in his coaching career. Fricker is a highly respected figure in the goaltending community.

Mason Geertsen is a defenceman who was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 3rd round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Mason Geertsen played major junior hockey with the Edmonton Oil Kings, where he scored 71 points in 133 games.

Mason Geertsen made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars on October 5th, 2016. Mason Geertsen has represented Canada at multiple international tournaments, most notably the World Juniors.

Where he won a gold medal in 2017. Mason Geertsen signed a two-year contract extension with the Dallas Stars on January 6th, 2018.

Mason Geertsen is known for his skating and offensive capabilities. Mason Geertsen is a member of the Edmonton Oilers organization. Mason Geertsen shoots left and is currently playing for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. 

Mason Geertsen was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 93rd overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Mason Geertsen has played for the Utica Comets in the AHL for the past two seasons. Mason Geertsen is presently a regular player for the Avalanche.

Final Words

Vancouver Giants have had some of the best players in the history of the Western Hockey League. Names like Bobby Orr, Guy Lafleur, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Pavel Bure are just a few of the great players to have played for the Giants.

The team has also had a few All-Stars over the years, including Pavel Datsyuk, Corey Perry, and Henrik Sedin. With a rich history and a talented roster, the Vancouver Giants are sure to continue to be a force in the WHL and across Canada.
