Max Pacioretty is a professional ice hockey player who was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2007. He has also played for the Ottawa Senators and Vegas Golden Knights.

In 2013, he won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's leading scorer with 87 points (35 goals and 52 assists). Pacioretty has represented Canada at multiple international tournaments, including three World Championships and two Winter Olympics.

He announced his retirement from professional hockey on February 25th, 2019 after 17 seasons in the NHL Max Pacioretty is a left-handed forward who has played for the Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, HC Ambrì-Piotta and Vegas Golden Knights in his NHL career.

Pacioretty was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens as the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft. He made his professional debut with HC Ambrì-Piotta of the Swiss National League A in 2008–09 before joining the Carolina Hurricanes later that season. 

In 2011–12, he led all rookie forwards with 44 points (21 goals and 23 assists) as well as being named to Team USA for their World Championship tournament that year.

The following season, 2012–13, he recorded 41 goals and 63 assists for 106 points over 82 games - good for fourth place among rookies behind John Tavares (NYI), Alex Ovechkin (WAS), and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (EDM). 

On July 1st, 2013, Pacioretty signed a six-year contract extension with Montreal worth an average annual value of $7 million dollars through to 2020–21 which makes him one of hockey's highest-paid players at present day.

In 2017–18 he finished second on the team scoring behind only Max Domi while playing 80 games registering 43 goals and 54 assists for 89 points helping lead Montreal to their 104th Stanley Cup championship.

2. Maurice Richard

Maurice Richard was a hockey legend and one of the most legendary players in NHL history. He is best known for his record-breaking goal-scoring feats, including setting an NHL record with 681 goals over a career that spanned more than 20 seasons.

Richard also holds the distinction of being the first player to score 50 goals in a season, as well as the youngest player ever to win the Stanley Cup (at just 18 years old). 

Maurice Richard has been inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, among other halls of fame around the world.

In recognition of his remarkable achievements on and off the ice, Maurice Richard was awarded honorary Canadian citizenship in 2013. Maurice Richard was one of the most popular and iconic players in Canadien's history. 

He scored more than 500 goals during his career and is still considered one of the all-time greats. Maurice Richard also had a colorful off-the-ice life, often engaging in shenanigans with teammates and opponents alike.

Among other things, he once urinated on an opponent's bench while playing against the Philadelphia Flyers. 

In 1960, after scoring 507 goals over 14 seasons with Montreal, Richard opted to join the new Quebec Nordiques instead of signing an extension with the Canadiens. 

The move caused a rift between Richard and teammate Jean Beliveau which never healed completely. Maurice Richard died from cancer at age 78 in 2000.

Guy Lafleur is considered one of the greatest hockey players ever. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988 and retired from playing in 1996.

Guy Lafleur played for many teams throughout his career, including Montreal Canadiens, Quebec Nordiques, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks. 

His most famous moment as a player came when he scored the goal that won the Stanley Cup for Montreal Canadiens in 1986.

After retiring from playing, Guy Lafleur went on to have a successful career as a coach with several different teams including Quebec Remparts and CSKA Moscow Major League Hockey Club (KHL). 

In 2017, it was announced that Guy Lafleur had prostate cancer and would not be able to attend his induction ceremony into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame later that year due to health concerns.

Guy Lafleur passed away at age 70 after battling cancer for several years Guy Lafleur was a prolific scorer in the NHL, amassing over 1,500 points in his career. He was drafted first overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1971 and played for them until 1985. 

After leaving Montreal he played for the New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques before retiring from hockey in 1991. Guy Lafleur won six Stanley Cups with the Canadiens, including three straight from 1976 to 1979.

In 1988 he was part of Canada's Olympic team that won the gold medal at Sarajevo; he also represented his country at two World Championships and one Olympics thereafter. 

Guy Lafleur is now an ambassador for Hockey Canada and actively promotes youth hockey throughout North America as president of L'Association Québécoise de Hockey et du Sport Électronique (AQHSE).

4. Jean Béliveau

Jean Béliveau was a legendary hockey player who won numerous awards and accolades during his career. He is best known for being the all-time leading scorer in the NHL, with 1,239 points over an illustrious 19-year career.

Béliveau also holds several other records and achievements, including being the first player to score 50 goals in a season and winning four Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens. 

In 2002, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame alongside players such as Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy.

Jean Béliveau passed away at age 83 after a long battle with dementia caused by multiple concussions sustained while playing hockey.

Jean Béliveau's story is one that should be celebrated not only because of his accomplishments on ice but also his strength of character throughout his life.

Jean Béliveau is one of the all-time greats in NHL history.

He was a dominant scorer, winning seven scoring titles and three Hart Trophies as the league's most valuable player. Jean Béliveau also excelled at defense, being named to nine All-Star teams and helping Montreal win five Stanley Cups.

After retiring from playing, Jean Béliveau served as team captain for the Canadiens for over two decades before he retired in 1971.

Jean Béliveau remains an important figure in Canadian sports culture, regularly appearing at charity events and serving on various hockey boards across Canada. 

In 1998, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada – one of the country's highest civilian honors – for his contributions to hockey and to society in general.

Chelios is a defenseman who played for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings. Chelios was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981 and won two Stanley Cups with them before moving to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1993.

He helped lead them to three more championships before retiring after the 2003-2004 season. Chelios has been inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame (2013) and the United States Hockey Hall of Fame (2011). 

In 2011, Chelios became head coach of EHC Biel in Switzerland where he led them to their first championship in 2013.

Chris currently resides in Michigan with his wife Randi and son Wojciech Jr., who also plays hockey professionally Chris Chelios is a legendary defenseman who played in the NHL for over 20 years. 

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006 and is currently an analyst on NBC Sports Network. Chelios was born in Detroit, Michigan, and played high school hockey at West Catholic High School before playing college hockey at the University of Wisconsin.

After graduating from college, Chelios joined the Atlanta Thrashers as their first-round pick (40th overall) in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. He spent most of his career with Montreal Canadiens, but also played for Chicago Blackhawks, St Louis Blues, and Dallas Stars during his time in the NHL. 

In 2002, Chris Chelios won a silver medal with Team USA at the Winter Olympics held in Salt Lake City – becoming only the second player ever to win both an Olympic gold medal AND a Stanley Cup championship (the other being Wayne Gretzky).

In 1996 he led the United States to their first World Cup victory since 1994 and finished as tournament MVP; two years later he helped Canada reach their fourth consecutive world cup final appearance – where they were defeated by Sweden 4–1. 

Chelias has also represented Team USA internationally at several other tournaments including three IIHF World Championships (1990 [silver], 1992 [bronze] & 1996), two World Junior Championships (1985 & 1987), and one Under-18 Championship (1984). 

Chris Chelios retired from professional ice hockey following the 2010–11 season having scored 264 goals & 501 assists for 793 points while accumulating 1128 penalty minutes in 1020 games played – ranking him 2nd all-time among defensemen behind Paul Coffey’s record total of 1234 points (.927 PIM).

6. Doug Harvey

Doug Harvey was a legendary player in the NHL who won several awards and accolades during his career. He is most famous for being one of the members of the "Miracle on Ice" team that won the Olympic gold medal in 1980.

Doug Harvey also played for several teams throughout his NHL career, including the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, and Los Angeles Kings. His playing days ended after he suffered a serious injury that forced him to retire from hockey at age 36.

After retirement, he became involved in coaching and managing other athletes. 

Doug Harvey was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973 and has since been recognized as one of Canada's greatest sports icons ever. Doug Harvey was a defenceman who played for Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, St.

Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings during his playing career. Doug Harvey was born in Toronto in 1945 and started his hockey career with the Junior Toronto Munster Aces before signing with Montreal Canadiens as a free agent in 1965. 

In 1969, Harvey retired from professional hockey after spending two seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.

He later became an assistant coach for the Quebec Nordiques of the NHL before retiring from coaching in 1992. Doug Harvey passed away on February 5th, 2003 at age 66 due to complications arising from heart surgery the previous year. 

As one of the most successful defencemen ever to play in the NHL, Doug Harvey is remembered fondly by many fans both old and new.

7. Patrick Roy

Patrick Roy was born in Quebec City, Canada on October 5th, 1965. He played hockey for the Quebec Nordiques from 1984 to 1995 and then moved to Colorado Avalanche where he won two Stanley Cups (1996 & 2001).

In 2006, Patrick Roy was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Patrick Roy is a three-time Stanley Cup champion and one of only five players ever to win each league’s MVP award twice (along with Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Brett Hull and Mike Bossy).

After retiring as a player in 2004, Patrick Roy became head coach of the Montreal Canadiens before moving on to become general manager of the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017–2018 season. 

On May 17th 2019 it was announced that he had been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and would be taking a leave of absence from his role as GM for the Golden Knights while undergoing treatment.

Jonathan Drouin was born in 1995 and is a 27-year-old Canadian forward. He played hockey for the Sainte-Agathe des Monts minor league team before being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2013.

Drouin made his NHL debut with the Canadiens in 2016, scoring 10 goals and 14 assists for 26 points over 73 games that season. 

In 2017, he had an outstanding rookie campaign with 36 goals and 51 assists for 85 points in just 78 games - becoming only the fourth player ever to record at least 60 points as a first-year player (the others are Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Jaromir Jagr).

As well as winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year, Drouin also won both The Ted Lindsay Award (given to Canada's most valuable player) and Art Ross Trophy (best scorer). 

He missed some time early on 2018 due to injury but eventually returned to play 54 games where he scored 17 more goals and added 33 assists for 50 points overall - good enough for second place behind his teammate.

Mark Recchi is a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, and was one of the most prolific scorers in NHL history. He played for Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes over his 19-year career.

Mark Recchi was known as an excellent right winger who could score goals with either hand. His legendary long shot helped him become one of the most popular players in the NHL during his era. 

In 2017, he was honoured by being named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Influential People in History - a distinction that speaks volumes about his legacy both on and off the ice.

Mark Recchi is a retired professional ice hockey player who spent 14 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Thrashers. Recchi was born on October 25, 1967 in Toronto, Ontario. 

He played junior hockey for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). After his junior career was over, Recchi signed an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins in 1987.

He made his NHL debut that season and went on to play 614 regular season games over fourteen seasons with Boston, Pittsburgh and Atlanta before retiring after the 2011–12 season. 

In 1994–95 he won both the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy as best gentlemanly player in the NHL and The Frank J Selke Trophy as best defensive forward in league history. 

Mark Recchi has also represented Canada internationally at several tournaments including World Championship tournaments where he won gold medals at both 1997 Finland tournament and 2006 Russia tournament respectively.

On November 2nd 2016 it was announced that Mark recchi had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma which required him to take chemotherapy treatments from December onward until his death on January 17th 2017 at 57 years old due to complications from cancer.

10. Jacques Plante

Jacques Plante was a legendary goaltender who played for the Montreal Canadiens from 1952 to 1971. He is one of only four goaltenders in NHL history to win over 300 games and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1978.

His style of play was known as "The Mask" because it made him virtually invisible on the ice, relying more on his reflexes than his flashy equipment. In 1957, Plante set an NHL record by allowing just eight goals in 47 games and he remained among the league's best goalies for several years afterwards.

However, his career came to an abrupt end when he injured his knee during a game against Boston Bruins in 1971 and never recovered properly from that injury. 

Jacques Plante remains one of hockey's most celebrated figures and is widely considered to be one of the greatest goaltenders ever to play the game.

Saku Koivu was born in Turku, Finland on November 23, 1974. He played center for the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks during his NHL career. Koivu also played for the Finnish national team from 1992 to 2014 and won a bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

In 2018, Koivu announced his retirement from professional hockey after 14 seasons with TPS in Helsinki, Finland's top ice hockey league. Koivu was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round (24th overall) of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. 

Koivu played his first professional season with HIFK of the Finnish SM-liiga, scoring 16 goals and 42 points in 56 games.

In 1996, Koivu made his debut with Finland at the World Championships and scored two goals en route to a silver medal finish. The following year, Koivu joined Minnesota on a six-year contract worth $21 million ($ today). 

He helped lead Minnesota to their only Stanley Cup championship in 2006, becoming just the fourth player ever to win both an Olympic gold medal and a Stanley Cup title (the other three are Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy).

On February 15th 2010 he announced his retirement from international play after playing 168 matches for Finland dating back to 1998 including 111 World Championship appearances and 54 appearances at the Olympics (including eight gold medals). 

Koivisto is one of those rare players who can do it all," said then Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher upon signing him "He's got great hands around the net as well as strong puck possession skills." 

Koivisto has everything you look for in a top scorer: physicality, strength down low on set plays or power shots from distance. NHL Network Analyst Craig Button on Saku’s strengths when comparing him to current stars Sidney Crosby & Alex Ovechkin.

12. Frank Mahovlich

Frank Mahovlich was a Hall of Fame hockey player who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mahovlich is best known for his time with the Leafs, where he won five Stanley Cups between 1963 and 1971.

He also had successful stints with the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens, before retiring in 1974 at age 36 due to injury. After retirement, Mahovlich served as an NHL referee from 1975 to 1984.

In 1981, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after being voted by peers as one of Canada's greatest ever players. 

Mahovlich currently resides in Timmins, Ontario with his wife Linda and their two children Alex and Tessa-Lynn Frank Mahovlich was a left winger who played in the NHL for 12 seasons.

He had an illustrious career with Toronto, Detroit, and Montreal. Mahovlich was a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Maple Leafs and Red Wings respectively. In 1978 he joined the Birmingham Bulls of the WHA where he finished his playing career six seasons later. 

Frank Mahovlich is considered one of Canada's all-time greatest hockey players and remains one of the most popular athletes in that country today.

Bobby Smith was born in 1958 and is a centre for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has played over 1000 regular season games with the Leafs, as well as appearing in 10 playoff games.

Bobby Smith also played for Team Canada at the world championships in 1988 and 2002, winning a silver medal both times. 

In 2007 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, becoming only the third Canadian to be so honoured (the others being Guy Lafleur and Steve Yzerman).

After retirement from playing hockey, Bobby became an analyst on TSN's coverage of NHL games Bobby Smith was selected first overall in the 1978 NHL Draft by the Minnesota North Stars. 

Bobby played for the Montreal Canadiens, then moved onto play with the Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs before ending his career with the Calgary Flames.

He retired at age 41 after winning two Stanley Cups with Calgary in 1988 and 1989. Smith is a member of Canada's Hockey Hall of Fame and has been inducted into numerous other Halls of Fame, including that of Minnesota where he currently resides as an honorary coach emeritus. 

In 2006, he was awarded The Order Of Canada for his contributions to hockey both on and off the ice.

14. Josh Anderson

Josh Anderson is a 28-year-old Canadian centre who has been playing in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Lake Erie Monsters. 

He was drafted by the St Louis Blues in the second round, 50th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft but never signed with them and spent four years in their AHL affiliate before signing a two-year contract to play for the Monsters on July 1st, 2017.

Anderson has played over 100 games in three different leagues and scored 38 goals and added 82 assists for 128 points during that time. 

In addition he has 239 penalty minutes to his name as well as 3 powerplay goals and 7 game winning goals; making him an effective all around player at both ends of the ice. 

With John Tavares likely returning to Toronto next season it will be interesting to see if Anderson gets another chance at cracking their lineup or moves on elsewhere; either way he should continue to develop as one of Canada's top prospects moving forward.

Robinson was a successful defenceman in the NHL for over 20 years, winning six Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens.

Robinson has also worked as a broadcaster and was the colour commentator for the Montreal Canadiens for several seasons. In 2009, Robinson was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. 

After a long and difficult battle, Robinson recovered and resumed his broadcasting career.

Robinson is a popular figure in Montreal, where he has been a fixture of the community for many years. Robinson remains active in charity work and is a strong advocate for cancer awareness. Robinson is married to Gail Rebuck and they have two children. 

Robinson is a strong supporter of the Montreal Canadiens and frequently attends games at the team's home arena, the Bell Centre.

16. Yvan Cournoyer

Cournoyer was a very successful hockey player, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982. 

Cournoyer played for the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, and Philadelphia Flyers, and was a four-time Stanley Cup champion.

Cournoyer also played for the Canada national team, and was a part of the gold medal-winning team at the 1964 Winter Olympics. Cournoyer retired from professional hockey in 1984, and later served as the head coach of the Quebec Nordiques.

Cournoyer has since been involved in several business ventures, and is currently the president and CEO of the Quebecor media company. Cournoyer is also a philanthropist and has donated money to various charities. Cournoyer is married, and has two children.

Yvan Cournoyer was a right wing for the Montreal Canadiens for 18 seasons, winning a Stanley Cup in 1976. Cournoyer was a prolific scorer, with 594 goals in 1,191 games. 

He was part of the "Pigboat" line with Bernie Parent and Jean Beliveau. He also served as captain of the Canadiens for three seasons.

Morenz's legacy lives on through his numerous accolades and awards. He is the only player in NHL history to win the Hart Memorial Trophy and the Stanley Cup.
