The San Jose Sharks are an iconic NHL team that have been playing for almost three decades. Based in San Jose, California, the Sharks are one of the premier teams of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference.

Owned by San Jose Sports & Entertainment Enterprises, the Sharks have a loyal fan base that has been with them since their first season in 1991-92.

Originally playing their home games at the Cow Palace, the Sharks moved to the SAP Center in 1993, and have become one of the most successful NHL franchises in the United States.

The Sharks have had a consistent presence in the playoffs, and have won multiple division titles in their history. They have even made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2016, although they ultimately came up short in the end.

Ozoliņš was born in 1972, and played for Dinamo Riga from 1997-2013. Ozoliņš is a Latvia international with 41 caps to his name, scoring five goals. 

Ozoliņš has spent time playing in the Russian Super League (with CSKA Moscow) and the NHL with San Jose Sharks between 2002-2004 and 2006-2007 respectively.

Ozoliņš was part of Latvia's silver medal winning team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece where he scored one goal in seven games played. 

In 2013, Ozoliņš retired from professional football after 14 seasons with Dinamo Riga - a club record - having won three Latvian league titles (2001–02, 2005–06, 2007–08), two Baltic Cups (2002, 2005), as well as the 2003 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and 2009 UEFA Europa League title.

On July 1st 2017 Sandis announced his return to Dinamo Riga as an assistant coach under Igor Kalashnikov.

2. Jacob MacDonald

Jacob MacDonald has had a very successful career in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was drafted by the Penguin in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and made his debut with them in 2013.

MacDonald played for Portland Pirates of the AHL before being called up to join Pittsburgh's roster during their playoff run this past season. 

In 2018, he was selected to play at the AHL All-Star Game and won MVP honours after leading all skaters in scoring with seven points (5 goals, 2 assists).

Jacob is signed through 2020 with an option for 2021, so there is no doubt that he will be playing hockey professionally for some time yet. Jacob MacDonald is a defenceman who has spent the majority of his career with the Colorado Avalanche. 

He was drafted by Florida Panthers in the 6th round of the 2015 NHL Draft but never played for them.

Jacob MacDonald started playing hockey at an early age and quickly became skilled enough to play in junior leagues across North America. 

After impressing during a tryout with the Avalanche, he signed a contract and made his debut with Colorado's AHL affiliate, San Antonio Rampage, in the 2013-14 season. 

Injuries prevented him from making any further appearances for Colorado that season but upon returning to full health he cemented himself as a regular member of their defense corps over the next two seasons before being traded.

Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2017-18 campaign along with Samuel Girard and Shane Bowers for Jarome Iginla, Francois Beauchemin and Joe Colborne.

MacDonald cemented himself as one of Pittsburgh's most reliable players under new head coach Mike Sullivan until being shipped out again midway through the 2018-19 season alongside Olli Maatta (and some draft picks) to Florida Panthers in exchange for Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad. 

Playing predominantly on their second defensive pairing behind Aaron Ekblad, MacDonald recorded 28 points (7 goals + 21 assists) throughout 51 games. 

While logging significant minutes against top lines both offensively & defensively averaging 26:29 minutes per game – ranking fourth among Panther blueliners behind only Keith Yandle (31:12), Vincent Trocheck (27:13) & Erik Gudbranson (26:41).

The 30-year-old rearguard will enter 2019-20 seeking yet another chance at consistently high-level hockey after having bounced around between three teams so far during his five years professional career – appearing hopeful that this time it could be different given his improved chemistry within the new Florida coaching staff led by Gerard Gallant.

3. Dan Boyle

Dan Boyle is a strong, physical defenseman who has played in the NHL for over 15 years. He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in 1997 and has since won two Stanley Cups with them.

He also spent time with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins before returning to San Jose in 2013. In 2009 he became an American citizen and now plays for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dan Boyle is married with three children and enjoys spending time outdoors fishing or hiking Dan Boyle is a veteran defenseman who has played in the NHL for over fifteen years now, most notably playing for the San Jose Sharks where he has won two Stanley Cups (in 2005 & 2007).

He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks as part of their 1997 draft class and made his debut with them that same year playing just one game before being sent down to their AHL affiliate Springfield Falcons where he would stay until 1998 when he would make his way back up to play 18 games against Vancouver Canucks scoring 2 goals along way.

It wasn't long after this return however until injuries forced him out of hockey completely at which point he took some time off to focus on rehabilitation.

When healthy though Boyle continued his career playing internationally including representing Canada at both World Championships (2005 & 2007), World Cup of Hockey (2006).

Nations Tournament (2008), 6 Nations Tournament(2010-11), U20 World Championship(1996-97), Olympic Qualifying tournament(2002-03). Pretty impressive considering all those tournaments are considered "major" competitions.

Alongside all that ice time, Boyle also owns a construction company so you can imagine how much work goes into keeping up appearances during these events haha.

After finishing out his contract with San José following their victory over Montreal Canadiens in 2013 it was announced shortly afterward that Dan Santino had been hired as head coach replacing Doug Wilson allowing Bolles move from left wing onto defense fulltime Sixth.

After spending four seasons splitting duties between Left Wing & Defenseman while wearing Seven through 10th jerseys due to reworking team's defensive scheme - then finally settling into Nine jersey once again starting 2016/17 season under new Head Coach Paul Holmgren.

Joe Thornton is a 43-year-old Canadian centre who has played for the San Jose Sharks since 2002. 

He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 1997, but never played for them as he was traded to San Jose on March 9, 2002.

Thornton has won two Stanley Cups with the Sharks (2011 and 2016), as well as three Art Ross Trophies (2002–2004, 2007–2008). He also represented Canada at both the World Cup of Hockey in 2008 and the Olympics in 2010.

In 2017, Thornton became an unrestricted free agent and signed with Dallas Stars; however, he retired from professional hockey after just one season there due to medical issues related to concussions Joe Thornton is a well-known NHL player who has played for the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks.

Joe Thornton was drafted 1st overall in the 1997 NHL Draft by the Bruins. Joe Thornton has had an illustrious playing career, winning many awards and accolades along the way including 4 Stanley Cups with Boston (2011, 2013, 2017, 2018). 

With over 900 games played in the NHL, Joe Thornton is one of the most experienced players out there and will be a key part of Canada's World Cup campaign this year.

Martin Jones is a goaltender for the San Jose Sharks. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and made his debut with them in 2008-09.

After spending four seasons with Boston, he was traded to the Sharks as part of a six player deal on December 11th, 2013. 

In 2016-17 he became just the fourth goalie in league history to record at least 30 wins and 10 shutouts in a season (joining Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy, and Ed Belfour).

He has won two Stanley Cups with the Sharks (2014 & 2017) and led all goalies during both championships runs in goals against average (.933). Martin Jones has been a goalie in the NHL for six seasons and is coming off his third season with the San Jose Sharks. 

In 2016–17, he led all goalies with 48 wins on the season and was second in goals against average (2.31).

He also set a career-high with 10 shutouts. Martin Jones won silver medals at both the World Junior Championships (2010) and Winter Olympics (2014), as well as gold medals at the World Cup of Hockey (2017) and IIHF World Championship (2018). 

Outside of hockey, he studied business administration at Northeastern University before turning professional full-time in 2010.

He married his long-time girlfriend Brittany Laughlin in 2018; they have one child together named Archer born in 2019.

Doug Wilson is a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee who played as an defenseman for the Chicago Black Hawks and Ottawa Senators. In 1977, Doug was selected first overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Black Hawks.

He spent 18 seasons playing in the NHL with stints with both teams before retiring in 1995. After his retirement from hockey, Doug started working as a broadcaster for TSN and later NBC Sports where he currently works as an analyst on their coverage of Stanley Cup Playoffs games.

Doug was awarded the Wayne Gretzky Leadership Award at the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game after being nominated by his peers earlier that year. 

Doug married his wife Tracey in 1984 and they have two children together - daughter Kelly (born 1985) and son Brett (born 1988). They reside in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Ray Whitney is a veteran left wing who has played in the NHL for over 20 years. He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the first round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and has been with them ever since.

In 2006, he signed with Carolina as a free agent and helped lead them to their first Stanley Cup championship that year. He retired from playing in 2010 after spending time with both Columbus and Dallas during his career.

Ray Whitney currently works as an analyst for Fox Sports West covering teams such as Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche among others. 

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 along with fellow members Jeremy Roenick and Chris Chelios Ray Whitney played 16 seasons in the NHL, all with the San Jose Sharks.

He was a three-time All-Star and led the league in scoring twice (2002–03, 2003–04). Whitney also won two Stanley Cups (2001 with the Dallas Stars and 2004 with the San Jose Sharks).

After leaving the NHL in 2014, he signed a one-day contract to play for his old team, the Sharks, in their final game of that season. Ray Whitney is now an analyst on NBC Sports Bay Area's pregame show "Sharks Live".

Brent Burns is a defenseman and right wing for the San Jose Sharks. He was drafted by the Sharks in the third round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Burns has won two Stanley Cups with San Jose, in 2016 and 2017.

He also won a gold medal at the 2010 Olympics as part of Canada's team that defeated Sweden to claim their fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal. 

In 2019, he was named an ambassador for Team Canada at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics Brent Burns was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on December 5th, 1988.

He played junior hockey with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL and then attended Michigan State University where he played for the Spartans' college team. 

The Minnesota Wild drafted him in 2003 and he made his NHL debut that season playing 11 games for them. 

In 2006-07 he had a breakout year scoring 35 goals and 74 points which helped him win the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year in 2007-08 From 2008 to 2017. 

Burns has been one of the best defensemen in the league averaging over 25 points per season while also serving as an important member of Team Canada at several international tournaments including winning gold medals at both World Championships (2011 & 2015) and Olympic Games (2010).

On July 1st, 2017 Brent signed a long term contract extension with the Minnesota Wild worth $58 million dollars making him their highest paid player ever.

Dany Heatley is a left wing who has played for the Atlanta Thrashers and San Jose Sharks. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2001, but he never played with them because of contract disputes.

He signed with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2004 and helped them to win two Stanley Cups that year. In 2007, he was traded to the San Jose Sharks where he won another Stanley Cup in 2012. 

Dany Heatley is one of only five players ever to score 50 goals and 100 points in a season (2003–04).

He retired from professional hockey after winning his fourth Stanley Cup with the Sharks in 2016-17 Dany Heatley was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2nd round of the 2000 NHL Draft. 

He played for SC Bern, Ak Bars Kazan, Ottawa Senators and San Jose Sharks before joining the Minnesota Wild in 2016.

In 2001 he won his first Stanley Cup with the Ottawa Senators. He also earned a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics and a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics with Team Canada respectively. 

On March 9th, 2017 Dany Heatley announced his retirement from professional hockey after 17 seasons playing in over 1000 games.

Owen Nolan started his professional career with the Quebec Nordiques. He had a successful season in 1995-96, scoring 41 goals and adding 46 assists for 87 points.

In 1997, he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche where he played until 2002 when he was traded to the San Jose Sharks. 

After playing two seasons with the Sharks, Nolan signed with Toronto Maple Leafs in 2004-05 but only played one season before being traded to Phoenix Coyotes in 2006-07 where he retired after 14 years of playing professionally hockey.

Owen Nolan was drafted 1st overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1990 NHL Draft. He played his entire career with the Quebec Nordiques, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2004. In 2011, he retired from professional hockey after playing for 11 seasons. 

Owen Nolan is currently an assistant coach for Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships 2019 in Denmark. He also works as a color commentator on Canadiens games on TVA Sports and TSN Radio 690 Montreal.

As a player, Owen Nolan was known for his gritty play and playoff heroics including scoring the golden goal against Finland to win gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and helping Canada reach their first world championship final in 1997 Helsinki (where they lost to Russia).

Owen has two children - one daughter born in 2007 and another son born in 2013 - both of whom are active athletes themselves.

Nico Sturm was born in Germany on May 3, 1995. He is a centre forward and has played for Augsburg since the age of 16. Sturm has scored over 100 goals in his career so far and helped Augsburg reach the Bundesliga playoffs in 2018-19.

In December 2019, he signed with Belgian side KRC Genk after being released by Augsburg at the end of their season. 

Sturm is known for his powerful striking ability and good movement off the ball; he is also capable of creating chances for teammates with accurate passing or through poaching defenses with quick runs into space.

Sturm has represented Germany at under-17, under-19, and under-21 levels before making his senior international debut in February 2018 against Sweden Nico Sturm is a left-handed shooter who played for the Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks in the NHL. 

He has also spent time with HC Davos of the Swiss League. Sturm was undrafted but has been successful in his career nonetheless, playing in over 200 games across three seasons.

The 28-year-old scored 21 goals and added 30 assists during the 2019–20 season and is looking to improve those totals this upcoming campaign with new team, Vegas Golden Knights. 

Nico Sturm will always be remembered as one of the most consistent goal scorers from Switzerland’s top hockey league - National League A - having tallied 189 points (76G+113A) across four campaigns between 2014 and 2018 alone.

Evander Kane is a left wing who has played for the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Atlanta Thrashers. Evander Kane was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

He had his best season with the Vancouver Canucks in 2011-12 where he scored 30 goals and 58 points. In July 2014, Evander Kane was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Ryan O'Reilly and Mikhail Grabovski .

The following year (2015), Evander Kane signed with Russian team HC Sochi where he spent one season before returning to North America again with the Buffalo Sabres ahead of the 2016-17 season. 

In 2017-18, Evander Kane led all scoring forwards on Team Canada at during their Olympic Qualifying tournament earning him a spot on their roster for PyeongChang 2018 as an injury replacement for Sidney Crosby.

Evander Kane has been suspended multiple times throughout his career including two suspensions from 2017 onwards after sexual assault allegations were made against him which he has denied.

Tomáš Hertl is a Czech forward who has scored 41 goals in 142 appearances for the San Jose Sharks. Hertl was drafted by the Sharks with the eighth overall selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

He made his professional debut with HC Kladno of the Czech Extraliga in 2007-08 and recorded 28 points (14 goals, 16 assists) in 53 games before being traded to Sparta Prague midway through the season.

In 2010-11, Hertl led all rookie forwards with 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) as Sparta Prague won their first championship since 1999 and qualified for Europe's top club competition, the Champions League for only the second time ever.

At age 19, he became one of just two players – alongside Jaromír Jágr – to score 50 or more points in each of his first three seasons as a pro hockey player; joining Denis Savard as one of only four players to accomplish that feat during their rookie year or younger (.500=50 GP).
