The San Diego Fleet was a professional American football team that competed in the Alliance of American Football (AAF) from 2019-2020. The team was based in San Diego, California, and played its home games at SDCCU Stadium.

The Fleet was led by former NFL head coach Mike Martz, and was one of the two professional football teams playing in San Diego, alongside the San Diego Strike Force of the Indoor Football League. The Fleet’s brief existence showcased some of the best football talent in the area, and brought an exciting brand of football to the city of San Diego.

Taniela Tupou was born on December 13, 1992, in Marysville, Washington. He attended Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, Washington before going to college at Washington.

Taniela Tupou did not receive any draft picks during his career and retired after the 2016 season. In his career, Tani played for the St Louis BattleHawks of the NFL and recorded 48 tackles and one sack during his time with them.

After retiring from professional football, Tani now works as a personal trainer in the Seattle area Taniela Tupou is an exciting young player with a lot of promise. 

He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft and has been playing for their practice squad ever since. The Falcons picked him up as a free agent this past offseason, and he's started nine games so far this season. 

He's done well both on defense and offense, but his biggest asset may be his versatility – he can play anywhere along the line, including at linebacker or defensive end. If he continues to develop at this rate, Tupou could become one of the top players in the league very soon.

Nelson Spruce is a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams. He was undrafted in 2016 but signed with the team later that year. Nelson has played college football at Colorado.

He had over 1,000 yards receiving in each of his three seasons there and was named to two All-American teams. In 2016, Nelson had a breakout season with the Rams and caught 47 passes for 592 yards and four touchdowns.

His 47 receptions were second on the team only to Robert Woods' 54 catches that season. Nelson is known as an excellent route runner who can get open deep downfield by using his speed and quickness off the line of scrimmage.

He also possesses good hands and body control when catching the ball in traffic.

The 30-year-old from Westlake Village, CA entered into 2018 as one of Jared Goff's favorite targets after recording career highs across all major statistical categories (touchdowns, receptions & yardage) during 2017 campaign.

While playing under head coach Sean McVay He'll be counted upon to provide production opposite Sammy Watkins this fall as Los Angeles looks to rebound from another disappointing showing en route to Super Bowl 52.

A.J. Tarpley was a linebacker for the Buffalo Bills in 2015 and played in six games. Tarpley attended Plymouth High School in Minnesota before playing college football at Stanford.

He was undrafted but signed with the Bills as an unrestricted free agent in 2015. In his six appearances for the Bills, he recorded 21 tackles and one sack, both of which were career highs for him during that season.

After spending time on injured reserve late in 2016 due to a shoulder injury, Tarpley is looking to have another strong year with the Bills this upcoming season. A.J. Tarpley was a two-time second-team All-Pac-12 selection and spent four seasons with the San Diego Chargers before being waived in 2017.

He originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, but was waived before playing a single game for them. 

After spending time on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of their season opener in September 2018.

Tarpley made his NFL debut against Indianapolis Colts and played 11 snaps on defense while recording one tackle before being released by Philadelphia at the end of preseason action that year due to injury concerns.

He later signed with San Diego Fleet who compete in afootball America (AFL) where he has started all 10 games this season recording 40 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception and one forced fumble so far.

Terry Poole is an offensive tackle for the New Jersey Generals in the NFL. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Poole attended San Diego State University. He has appeared in 10 games for the Seahawks and has played in two playoff games. Poole is a member of the Seahawks' practice squad.

He was born in 1992 in Seaside, California. He is 6'5" tall and weighs 323 pounds. Poole has enjoyed a successful career thus far and is currently with the New Jersey Generals of the NFL.

Poole is a powerful offensive tackle who has the ability to stop the run and pass. The Miami Dolphins drafted Terry Poole in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Terry Poole played college football at the University of Houston.

Terry Poole spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans on their practice squad in 2020. Terry Poole was signed by the San Diego Fleet in July 2021. Terry Poole recorded a sack in his Fleet debut. Terry Poole was waived by the Fleet in December 2021.

Terry Poole was signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in January 2022. Terry Poole played in all 16 games for the Blue Bombers in the regular season. 

Terry Poole was named the CFL East Division's Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Terry Poole was signed by the Toronto Argonauts in January 2023.

Terry Poole recorded 55 tackles and two sacks in 16 games for the Argonauts in the regular season. Terry Poole was named the CFL West Division's Most Outstanding Defensive Player. 

Terry Poole was signed by the New Jersey Generals in February 2024. Terry Poole recorded 68 tackles and five sacks in 16 games for the Generals in the regular season.

Mike Bercovici joined the Cardinals as an offensive assistant in 2017. Bercovici played football at William Howard Taft High School in Northridge, California.

In 2017, he joined the Cardinals as an offensive assistant. Bercovici is married and has a son. He enjoys surfing and playing golf. Mike Bercovici is from Northridge, California. Mike Bercovici is a third-year quarterback who has been with the Arizona Cardinals for the past two seasons.

He was drafted by the Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Bercovici played college football at Arizona State. 

 In his rookie season, Bercovici started six games and completed 52.3 percent of his passes for 905 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Mama was born in Moreno Valley, California and attended St. John Bosco High School. He played college football at USC and was not drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 and played for them through the 2018 season. In 2018, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys and played in 10 games before being released.

Hageman is a 29-year-old kicker for the St. Louis BattleHawks. He was born in Covina, California, and attended Damien High School. In his four-year career with the BattleHawks, Hageman has made 101 of 132 field goal attempts (74%) and all 302 of his PATs.

He was named to the All-Arena team for the 2016 season. In the 2016 season opener, Hageman made four field goals, including a game-winning field goal in overtime, as the BattleHawks won 27-24 over the Memphis Express. 

Hageman is a two-time member of the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-Rookie Team and was named to the PFWA All-NFL Second Team in 2016.

Hageman was the first player in NFL history to make two game-winning field goals in his team's first two games of a season. In December 2017, Hageman signed a contract extension with the BattleHawks through the 2021 season. 

Hageman married his high school sweetheart, Brooke, in April of 2018. Hageman is a Christian and volunteers with his church's youth group.

Koloamatangi is married and has two young children. Koloamatangi is a member of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame. 

Mefy Koloamatangi is an exciting young player who is making a big impact in the CFL. He has played in five games so far this season, and has totaled three tackles.

Koloamatangi is from Auckland, New Zealand, and started playing football in high school. He was drafted in the third round of the 2018 CFL draft by the BC Lions. 

Koloamatangi is known for his speed and athleticism, which he puts to good use on the field. He is a strong tackler who is always looking to make a big impact.

Moore was born on September 11th, 1992 in DeSoto, TX. He attended Rowlett High School, where he was a two-time All-State selection and a member of the National Honor Society.

Moore played college football at Texas A&M, where he was a First-Team All-American and won the Hendricks Award as the best defensive end in the NCAA. Moore was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft and spent two seasons with the team.

Moore was traded to the Dolphins in 2015 and spent one season with the team before being traded to the Raiders. 

Moore played two seasons with the Raiders before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2016. Moore was named to the Pro Bowl in 2016 and was a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Moore signed with the Argonauts in the off-season and has played in all 14 of their games thus far. Moore is a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro selection.

Francis Owusu is a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts. He was undrafted in 2017, but signed with the Colts as a free agent. Owusu played college football at Stanford.

He was a three-time All-American and finished his career with the second most receptions in Stanford history. Owusu was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft, but did not play a game in the NFL.

He was signed by the Colts as a free agent in 2017. Owusu is a fast and physical receiver who is known for his big plays. He is a threat to score any time he touches the ball. Owusu is the son of former NFL player and receiver, Anquan Boldin.

Owusu is a rookie linebacker for the Miami Dolphins and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Owusu has experience playing both linebacker and defensive end in his collegiate career.

Kameron Kelly had a successful collegiate career at San Diego State, being a four-year starter and captain. Kelly was undrafted in 2018 but was signed to the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad.

Kelly was released by the Cowboys in September of that year, but was re-signed to the practice squad a month later. Kelly made his NFL debut in October of 2018, playing one game for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kelly was released by the Steelers in December of 2018, but was re-signed to the practice squad just a few days later. Kelly was promoted to the Steelers' active roster in January 2019. Kelly played in one game for the Steelers before being released in February.

Beau Nunn was a standout guard for York (SC) Comprehensive, and went on to play for Appalachian State. He was undrafted in 2018, but was signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers as an undrafted free agent.

In his rookie season with the Cavs, he averaged 5.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 18.5 minutes per game. In the 2019-20 season, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and averaged 9.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 28.5 minutes per game.

He has played in 67 games in the NBA, averaging 9.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. Beau Nunn is a versatile guard who can play both point guard and shooting guard. 

He is a hard-working player who is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win. Beau Nunn is a great role model for young basketball players, and his story is an inspiration to everyone.

Greg Ducre is a cornerback with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Ducre played college football at Washington. He was undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft but was signed by the San Diego Chargers.

Ducre has spent the past three seasons with the Chargers. He was named an All-Star in 2016. Ducre is a native of Los Angeles, California. Ducre is 5'10" and 185 pounds. Ducre has appeared in 55 games with the Chargers, recording 183 tackles, four interceptions, and a sack.

Ducre is a three-time CFL All-Star and was named the Most Outstanding Canadian in 2016. Ducre is set to become a free agent in the off-season.

Wright attended Corona High School in Corona, California, where he played football and ran track. Wright played college football at USC, where he was a two-time All-American and a member of the Trojan National Championship team in 2013.

Wright was not drafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, but signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent. Wright made his NFL debut in Week 4 of the 2014 season, and has since played in 53 games, recording 218 tackles, two interceptions, and one sack.

Final Words

The San Diego Fleet had several talented players throughout its history, but the best of them all might have been running back Claude Humphrey. Humphrey was a two-time All-American and led the Fleet to the playoffs twice.

He was a powerful runner with good skills as a receiver and was one of the most versatile players in Alliance of American Football history.
