St Mirren Football Club is a venerable institution in Scottish football, having been established in 1877. Based in the town of Paisley in Renfrewshire, the club has played in the Scottish Premiership since they won the 2017-18 Scottish Championship.

Nicknamed “The Buddies” or “The Saints,” the club has won the Scottish Cup three times (1926, 1959, 1987) and the Scottish League Cup once (2013). They have also represented Scotland in European competitions four times, playing in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. St Mirren have established a reputation for being a competitive side in the top flight of Scottish football.

Lambert played for St Mirren and Motherwell in his early career before moving to Celtic in 1997. He was a part of the team that won the Scottish Premier League title three times (2001, 2003, 2004).

Lambert left Celtic after six years to join Aston Villa in 2005. He led Villa to their first ever major trophy when they won the FA Cup in 2007. 

Lambert left Villa at the end of the 2011-12 season after failing to lead them back into the Premier League following relegation from it two seasons earlier.

In 2013, he rejoined Aston Villa as manager on a one-year contract extension.[3] Lambert was sacked by Aston Villa on 15 October 2015 with the club bottom ofthe English Premier League table.[4] 

Lambert is a former English footballer who played as a midfielder for clubs such as Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

After starting his career with Aston Villa, Lambert enjoyed stints at Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before joining Ipswich Town in 2018. 

A regular member of the Scotland national team over the course of several years, Lambert made his international debut in 1990 and went on to win 40 caps overall. 

After retiring from playing professionally in 2003, Lambert took up coaching roles with Scottish sides Wycombe Wanderers and Colchester United before landing the managerial job at Livingston in 2005.

Despite struggling to keep Livingston afloat during his tenure, Lambert was later appointed manager of Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2012 where he remained until 2015. 

In January 2016, Lambert was appointed head coach of Championship strugglers Aston Villa where he led them to promotion back to the Premier League after just one season at the helm; however.

He parted ways with Villa following their relegation back down to the Championship two seasons later.

Stevie Mallan is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Salford City. At St Mirren, Mallan made over 100 appearances in all competitions and helped the club win promotion to the Scottish Premiership in 2016.

He transferred to League One side Swindon Town on 31 January 2018 and made his debut two weeks later against Rochdale United. After making 10 appearances for Swindon, Mallan was loaned out to National League North side York City until the end of the season on 18 May 2018.

On 11 July 2018, Mallan returned to Swindon Town after agreeing a permanent contract with the club earlier that month. 

In total, he has played 49 times for Scotland at youth level between U17s and U21s levels before making his senior international debut in November 2017 against Slovakia. Stevie Mallan's father is also a football player; he played professionally for Airdriein Thistle.
