Stockport County Football Club is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the English Football League. Founded in 1883 as Heaton Norris Rovers, the club has since gone on to compete in the fourth tier of English football, EFL League Two.

Stockport County have endured an up-and-down history, from their successes in the early 1900s, to their relegation to the sixth tier in 2011. However, in recent years the team have made a resurgence, and now look to continue their climb back up the leagues.

The club is well-known for their traditional blue-and-white kit, which has been used since 1914, and their passionate supporters. With an exciting future ahead of them, Stockport County are a team to watch out for in the years to come.

George Best was born on 22 May 1946 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He started his career at Cregagh Boys Club before moving to Manchester United in 1961.

George became one of the most famous and popular players in British football during the 1970s and 1980s, playing for Manchester United, Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Madrid and Barcelona among others.

He scored over 200 goals during his professional career and is still considered one of the greatest players ever to have played the game. George Best died on 25 November 2005 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 59 years old.

George Best was a talented footballer who is considered one of the greatest players in history. He spent most of his career with Manchester United, where he helped the team win many championships and trophies. 

His passion for football led to him being known as "The King of Manchester." He also had a successful international career, playing for Northern Ireland on many occasions and winning several awards along the way.

In 2005, George Best was inducted into the British Football Hall of Fame.

Tommy Rowe is a midfielder for Doncaster Rovers. He first started playing football at Wythenshawe Primary School, before joining Peterborough United's youth system in 2004.

Rowe made his senior debut for Peterborough in 2007, and has since appeared in over 150 matches for the club, scoring 10 goals. 

In 2011, Rowe joined Doncaster on a free transfer after being released by Peterborough United following their relegation from League One. Tommy Rowe is a former English footballer who played for Manchester United and Stockport County.

After leaving Manchester United, Rowe moved to Stockport County where he spent two seasons before moving on to Peterborough United in 2009. 

After two seasons with Peterborough, Rowe signed for Wolves in 2014 but only made 17 appearances over three years at the club. In 2016, Rowe joined Doncaster Rovers on loan where he made 118 appearances over the next three years before returning to Bristol City in 2019.

Jack Stretton is a forward who currently plays for Stockport County. Stretton started his youth career with Nottingham Forest, before joining Stockport in 2014.

He has represented England at U16 and U18 levels, as well as appearing for the under-21s side. Stretton was born in Newhall, England and played football for local team Wellington Town Football Club before signing professionally with Forest aged 16.

He made his debut for Forest senior side during the 2016–17 season, scoring on his competitive debut against Mansfield Town in League Two: he went on to make over 50 appearances across all competitions at The City Ground during two spells there between 2017 and 2019.

Stretton joined Stockport County ahead of their inaugural campaign in League One – making an instant impact by netting twice in their opening game of the season away to Plymouth Argyle.

Aaron Wilbraham is 43 years old and was born in England. He started his career at Stockport County before moving to Moss FK on loan in 2000. He rejoined Stockport County in 2004, where he has since been an assistant manager for Shrewsbury Town.

Aaron Wilbraham primarily plays as a forward but can also play as a midfielder or defender if required. 

In 2007, he captained the England under-21 team to victory over Hungary at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals, becoming the first English player ever to do so.

Aaron Wilbraham made his debut for England against Cyprus in October 2009[1], scoring one goal during the process and helping his country qualify for Euro 2012 Aaron Wilbraham started his managerial career at Shrewsbury Town, before being named assistant manager to Paul Hurst in 2020.

He left the club in 2021 after a brief caretaker spell and has since been appointed assistant manager at Shrewsbury's League One rivals Rochdale. 

Aaron Wilbraham is most well-known for his time spent playing for Hull City and Milton Keynes Dons, where he made over 600 appearances between them. 

In 2011, he joined Norwich City on loan and helped the side win promotion to the Premier League two years later. After leaving Norwich, Aaron Wilbarthy signed for Crystal Palace but only stayed there for two seasons before moving on to Bristol City in 2014. 

He then had a short stint with Bolton Wanderers before joining Rochdale as their new head coach in 2018.

Rickie Lambert is a former English footballer who played as a striker for Liverpool between 1992-1997 and then again from 2007-2013. He was born in Kirkby, Merseyside on 16 February 1982 to parents Ronnie and Joan Lambert.

Rickie started his career at Liverpool where he made 206 appearances scoring 86 goals during 7 years with the club winning 3 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup and 2 League Cups along the way before moving to Southampton in January 2007 for £4 million (£5million including add-ons).

After struggling to find form at The Saints, Lambert moved back to Anfield on a free transfer in July 2013 after being released by West Bromwich Albion six months earlier. 

Rickie retired from professional football following the conclusion of his contract with Liverpool at the end of the 2014/15 season having scored 44 goals in 104 league appearances (104 starts).

In 2003, Lambert was voted PFA Young Player of Year after netting 25 goals for Leeds United during their promotion campaign which saw them reach Division One for the first time since 1972. 

Since retiring from playing professionally, Rickie has continued his association with Liverpool as assistant coach under Jurgen Klopp helping guide them to victory in both Europa League Final against Sevilla as well as Champions League Final against Real Madrid last year.

Matt Jansen is a retired English professional footballer who played as a striker for Blackburn Rovers. Jansen began his career with Carlisle United in 1993 before spending two seasons with Bristol City in the Football League.

He returned to Blackburn in 1997 and went on to make over 220 appearances for the club, scoring 85 goals. 

Jansen joined Birmingham City in 2001, before finishing his career with a two-year spell at Burnley. Jansen represented England at under-21 and under-23 level, and also played for the unofficial England team.

After hanging up his boots, Jansen became a football coach. In December 2017, Jansen was charged with sexual assault of a girl under the age of 16. He has since been released on bail and is due to appear in court in early 2019. Jansen has two sons with his former wife.

Glenville Adam James Le Fondre was born on December 2nd, 1986 in Stockport, England. Le Fondre started his career as a youth player with Stockport County and made his professional debut in 2004.

He signed for Sydney FC in January of this year and has quickly made a name for himself as one of the best strikers in the A-League.

Clint Hill is a former English professional footballer who played as a defender. Clint Hill played for Tranmere Rovers between 1994 and 1997. Hill then played for Queens Park Rangers between 1998 and 2011.

Jim Gannon is a former English football centre-half who played for Dundalk, Sheffield United and Stockport County. He enjoyed a successful playing career, winning two National League North titles with Stockport County and making 383 league appearances.

Danny Bergara was a Uruguayan striker who played for Real Mallorca, Sevilla, and Racing Club in the 1960s. Bergara was a prolific goalscorer, scoring 110 goals in 376 appearances during his career.

He spent three years at Sheffield United before moving to Brunei in 1984, where he spent nine years in charge of the national team. 

He then moved back to England, coaching Rochdale and Middlesbrough before taking over as manager of Malaysian side Penang in 1997. 

He left Penang after just one season, moving to Doncaster Rovers the following year. He left Doncaster in 1999, moving to Grantham Town before retiring from coaching later that year.

Bergara now works as a football analyst for Spanish television network La Sexta.

Rhys Turner is a striker who was born in England in 1995. Turner started his career with Preston North End, where he scored 25 goals in 54 appearances. After a spell with Rochdale, Turner joined York City in 2015.

He has since made 47 appearances and scored 16 goals. Turner has represented England at U19, U21, and U23 levels. He is currently a senior international for the England U21 team. Turner is a strong, fast striker who is known for his accurate shooting and good finishing.

Turner is currently contracted to York City until the end of the 2018-19 season. Turner is a very determined and hardworking player who is looking to continue his success with York City. Turner is a great ambassador for football and is actively involved in a number of charity work.

Turner is a highly respected member of the York City community and is highly respected by his teammates and coaches.

Final Words

Stockport County Football Club is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the English football league system. The club was formed in 1883 and played its early football in the Manchester and District League.

In 1894 the club joined the Lancashire Combination and won the championship in its first season. The club joined the Football League in 1920 and finished as runners-up in its first season.
