The Stanley Cup Finals ended on June 13th with the Boston Bruins defeating the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in overtime after a back-and-forth series that lasted six games.

Chelios was named first star of the playoffs for his outstanding play, which included two game winning goals against Montreal and a goal and an assist in game seven of the finals against Boston to clinch victory for Chicago.

He is only the fourth player ever to win consecutive Conn Smythe Trophies, joining Gordie Howe (1968–69), Mario Lemieux (1984–85) and Sidney Crosby (2009–10). In 762 career regular season NHL games, Chelios has collected 533 points (204 goals, 291 assists) along with 915 penalty minutes making him one of the most accomplished players in league history
