The Utah Utes football program is an iconic part of the University of Utah, representing a proud tradition of excellence in college football that stretches back to 1892. The team competes in the Pac-12 Conference of the Football Bowl Subdivision and plays its home games at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

With 28 conference championships and two Heisman Trophy winners, the Utes have a long history of success that they continue to build on today. Smith was a highly-talented wide receiver and return specialist in the NFL. He started his career with the Carolina Panthers, before moving on to Baltimore Ravens later in his career.

Smith is widely regarded as one of the best receivers in NFL history, and he has twice been named to first-team All-Pro honors. He retired from football at the end of the 2016 season after 17 seasons with three different teams.

Steve Smith Sr. was a five-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL in receptions twice and receiving yards once. He is also one of only two players to ever lead the league in both receptions and receiving touchdowns simultaneously, along with Marvin Harrison.

Steve Smith Sr.'s most productive years came during his time as a Panther, where he helped Carolina reach three straight NFC Championship Games (2005-2007). 

After leaving Charlotte following the 2007 season, Smith spent four seasons with Baltimore before signing with San Francisco prior to the 2016 season.

In 12 seasons in the NFL, Steve Smith Sr has tallied more than 1,000 combined receptions, yards, and touchdowns - an impressive feat for any player.

2. Jaylon Johnson

Jaylon Johnson was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2020, after playing his college football at Utah. Jaylon is a cornerback and has appeared in three NFL seasons.

He has played for the Bears (2020-present) and Carolina Panthers (2018). Jaylon has made an impact during his time in the league, earning accolades such as Second Team All-Pro honors in 2019.

Jaylon Johnson is an All-American linebacker and was a First Team selection in both 2018 and 2019. Jaylon Johnson has played for the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins throughout his career.

He has 125 total tackles in the NFL as well as 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. Jaylon Johnson is known for his speed and quickness on the field which helps him make a lot of plays defensively.

3. Garett Bolles

Bolles was drafted 20th overall by the Denver Broncos in 2017. Bolles attended Snow College before transferring to Utah, where he started 25 of 36 games over two seasons.

Bolles made his NFL debut with the Broncos in 2018, starting all 16 games at left tackle. He is expected to be a cornerstone of the team's offensive line for years to come.

Garett Bolles was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has started all 80 games he has played in for the Broncos and is a two-time Second Team All-Pro.

In 2020, he was named to PFWA's All-Rookie Team. Bolles is known as an excellent run blocker who can also throw effectively out of shotgun formations.

4. Mike Anderson

Anderson was drafted in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Anderson played for the Broncos (2000–2005) and Baltimore Ravens (2006-2007).

He is best known for his time with the Ravens where he became a star running back, amassing over 2,000 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in two seasons with Baltimore.

Anderson has also been involved in some memorable plays during his career; one being a 98-yard touchdown run against the Indianapolis Colts that helped secure a victory on Thanksgiving Day 2004.

After spending five years out of football, Anderson signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2013 and enjoyed another successful season there before retiring at age 38 after 12 years of playing professional football Anderson was drafted in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

He played college football at Utah State and was a two-time All-MWC selection. Anderson had an outstanding rookie season with the Falcons, rushing for 4,067 yards and 37 touchdowns on 242 carries.

 After his rookie year, he signed with the Carolina Panthers but only played one game before being waived in 2001 due to injury.

Anderson then signed with Philadelphia Eagles but again sustained a season-ending injury before playing any games for them either too In 2002, he returned to play for Tampa Bay Buccaneers but retired from pro football after that season because of injuries. 

Mike currently resides in Sandy Springs GA where he is working as a sports agent.

5. Larry Wilson

Larry Wilson was a standout safety at Utah and led the nation with nine interceptions in 1960. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 1960 NFL Draft but did not play in any games for them.

He played for four seasons (1960-1963) with the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring from playing football. In 1966, he became a police officer in Scottsdale, Arizona, and served there until his retirement in 2010. 

Larry Wilson died on September 17th, 2020 at age 82 after a long battle with cancer Larry Wilson was drafted by the Cardinals in the first round of the 1960 NFL Draft.

He played for St. Louis from 1960 to 1972 and won six Pro Bowls during his career. After retiring as a player, he became an executive with the Cardinals, serving as scouting director from 1973 to 1976 and then personnel director from 1977 to 1987. 

In 1988, he was named VP and GM of the Phoenix Cardinals before moving on to become VP of football operations for Arizona in 1994. He retired after 20 years with the Cardinals organization in 2002 but remains involved with team affairs as a consultant

6. Jamal Anderson

Jamal Anderson was a running back for the Utah Utes from 1994-1998. He had an impressive NFL career, rushing for over 12,000 yards and earning four Pro Bowl selections.

After retiring from the NFL in 2001, he went on to have a successful career as a head coach at UNLV (2003-2008). In September 2018, Anderson was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife.

Jamal Anderson is one of the most decorated running backs in NFL history. He was a two-time first-team All-Pro and led the league in rushing yards twice while scoring 34 touchdowns during his career with the Atlanta Falcons.

Jamal Anderson also became a Pro Bowler in 1998, which meant he had achieved all that was possible as a professional player. After leaving Atlanta, Anderson spent time with four other teams before retiring after the 2001 season at age 35 due to an injury sustained during practice.

Despite hanging up his cleats, Jamal Anderson remains active off the field and continues to work with children through his charity work - something that he takes very seriously.

7. Luther Elliss

Luther Elliss is a defensive tackles coach for the Utah Utes. Luther Elliss played football at Mancos High School in Colorado and then went on to play for the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos as a professional player.

Luther Elliss began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Denver Broncos before joining the Utah Utes staff in 2016. Luther Elliss' primary focus as a defensive tackles coach is mentoring, teaching, and developing players into successful professionals both on and off the field.

Luther Elliss is a defensive line coach for the Utah Utes and has been since 2022. Luther Elliss was an All-American at Brigham Young University, where he won WAC Defensive Player of the Year in 1994. 

Luther Elliss played 11 seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers (1994-2000), Philadelphia Eagles (2001), and Indianapolis Colts (2002).

LutherElliss spent his final two seasons as a member of the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff before moving to Salt Lake City to work with Utah’s defense in 2022.

Eric Weddle was drafted in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers. He played for them from 2007 to 2015, before signing with the Baltimore Ravens in 2016.

He has also spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars since then. Eric Weddle is a safety who excels at making tackles and defending passes. He has been named to several All-Pro teams and won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2017.

Eric Weddle Eric Weddle is a 3-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-team All-American. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft and played for them until they traded him to the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. 

Weddle has been a mainstay on both sides of the ball for Baltimore, leading all safeties with 129 tackles last season alone.

In 2019 he helped lead his team to their first Super Bowl victory since 2013, becoming just one of four players ever to win a championship as both an undrafted free agent and starter (alongside Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana).

9. Marcus Williams

Marcus Williams was a standout safety for the New Orleans Saints in 2017 and 2018. The 26-year-old played his college ball at Utah and was picked by the Saints in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

In 2019, Marcus signed a four-year contract extension with Baltimore that will keep him with the Ravens through 2024. Marcus has consistently been one of Baltimore's top defenders over his three seasons with them, helping lead them to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2020 and 2021.

Marcus Williams was a highly-touted player coming out of college, and he has lived up to expectations so far in the NFL. 

He is an all-around defender with great tackling ability and ball skills. Marcus Williams has been one of the most productive players on the defense this year, recording 19 interceptions and 365 total tackles.

He is a major reason why the Rams are currently in first place in their division. Marcus Williams likely won't be around for much longer if he continues his current pace, as there are already rumors circulating that he could be traded soon due to his high price tag on the open market. 

However, even if he does leave Los Angeles, fans can rest assured knowing that they have seen one of the best defenders in recent memory play at an elite level.

Mac Speedie was an end for the Cleveland Browns from 1946-1952. He played college football at Utah and was drafted in the 1942 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

In his six seasons with the Browns, he recorded 137 tackles, one interception, and two sacks. After leaving the NFL, Speedie played for Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1953-1954 before retiring from professional football in 1954.

Mac Speedie passed away on March 5th 1993 at 73 years old after a long career in professional football that saw him play for both Cleveland and Saskatchewan teams as well as several other minor leagues throughout his playing days Mac Speedie was a dominant receiver in the NFL during the 1940s.

He led the league in receiving yards three times and touchdowns twice. Speedie also played for Cleveland Browns, who won two championships with him on their roster.

Smith was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 and spent six seasons with the team before being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013. In 2018, Smith was signed by the Washington Football Team and led them to a division championship in his first season as their quarterback.

Smith has also been involved in several Pro Bowls and is considered one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. Alex Smith is a four-time pro bowler and three-time passer rating leader. 

Alex Smith was one of the most prolific passers in college football history, winning two MWC Offensive Player of the Year awards and being First Team All American both times.

After excelling in Kansas City for six seasons, Alex Smith signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2005. 

In his first season with the Niners, he led them to their first Super Bowl championship since 1994 after completing 30 of 41 passes for 373 yards and 4 touchdowns against the New England Patriots

12. Cameron Rising

Cameron Rising is a junior quarterback for the Utah Utes and was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Rising began his collegiate career at Arizona State, where he played two seasons before transferring to Utah.

In his two years with ASU, Rising completed 61% of his passes for 2,811 yards and 23 touchdowns while adding 615 yards and 10 more scores on the ground. At Utah, Rising has led the Utes to back-to-back Pac-12 Championships and a berth in this year’s College Football.

Playoff National Championship Game against Georgia Southern which they lost 41–27 despite leading 24–10 at halftime Cameron is considered one of college football’s most electric dual threat quarterbacks as he can run with power or speed.

Exemplified by his 91 mph (146 kph) dash time on record – nor does he shy away from taking hits as seen when he took three sacks during last season's championship game against Georgia Southern that totaled over 100 pounds (.45 m).

13. Tavion Thomas

Tavion Thomas is a junior running back for the Utah Utes. He was ranked as the No. 9 running back in the nation by ESPN in 2018. Thomas has racked up over 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns during his career at Utah.

In 2016 he helped lead his team to a Pac-12 Championship victory with 1,831 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground and through the air (eight receiving). 

Tavion Thomas was born and raised in Southern California before moving to Utah to attend high school there in 2017; where he led his team to state championships both years he played (2015 & 2016).

Tavion Thomas was a two-time first team All-Pac-12 selection and averaged 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a senior in 2021. He is the all-time leading scorer at Dunbar High School with 1,572 points while also ranking second in blocks (222) and third in steals (191).

Scott Mitchell was born on January 2, 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mitchell attended Springville High School in Springville, Utah, and was a quarterback for the school's football team.

Mitchell then went on to play for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL from 1990 to 1993. Mitchell is best known for his time with the Dolphins, where he led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 1993.

Mitchell has since retired from the NFL, and currently works as a commentator for NFL games. Mitchell has also been involved in a number of business ventures, including a restaurant chain and a football league.

Mitchell has two children, and is currently married. Scott Mitchell is a devout Mormon, and has been involved in a number of charitable works within the church. Mitchell is often considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, and is considered to be one of the most popular players in the league.

Dalton Kincaid is a senior tight end at Utah and was a third-team All-American in 2018. Kincaid was a two-time team captain at San Diego and was a member of the track and field team as well.

He is the son of former NFL player and current ESPN analyst, Jerry Kincaid. Kincaid is entering his final year of eligibility at Utah and is expected to be a key player for the Utes in 2020. Kincaid is a business administration major and is likely to pursue a career in finance.

Kincaid is a versatile player who can play tight end, linebacker, and defensive end. He has played in 38 games over the past three seasons and has recorded 38 receptions for 571 yards and six touchdowns. 

Kincaid is a hard worker who is constantly improving his skills. He is a team player who is always looking to contribute to the success of his team.

Tyler Huntley was born on February 3, 1998 in Dania Beach, Florida. He attended Hallandale High School in Hallandale Beach, Florida, and played football for the school.

He then attended Utah, where he played for the Utah Utes football team. Huntley was undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, but was signed by the Baltimore Ravens. He has played for the Baltimore Ravens since 2020.

He has played in 48 career games, completing 227 of 401 passes for 3,425 yards and 27 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 377 yards and four touchdowns. Huntley has also been a key player on the Ravens' Super Bowl championship teams in 2019 and 2020.

He is currently a free agent. Tyler Huntley is a quarterback for the Utah Jazz who is having a good career in the NFL. He has passed for over 1,000 yards and has touchdown passes and interceptions. Tyler Huntley was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Utah Jazz.

Palepoi was a four-year starter at Utah, recording 72 tackles, 95 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks in his career. Palepoi was not drafted in 2014, but signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders.

Palepoi was released by the Raiders in 2016 and signed with the Seattle Seahawks. Palepoi played in all 16 games for the Seahawks in 2016, recording 4 tackles and 1 sack. Palepoi signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 and played in 5 games before being released.

Grosscup later played for the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. He also played for the Buffalo Bills and the San Diego Chargers in the NFL. Grosscup retired from professional football in 1973.

He then worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN from 1978 to 1990. Grosscup died on June 1, 2020 at the age of 83. Lee Grosscup was drafted by the Giants in the 1959 NFL Draft. Grosscup played for the Giants from 1959-1961 and the Titans from 1962-1964.

Roy Jefferson was an American wide receiver who played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Colts. He was drafted in the second round of the 1965 NFL Draft by the Chargers, but only played for them for one season before moving to the Colts.

Jefferson had a successful career in the NFL, amassing over 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons. He was a key part of the Steelers' championship teams in 1965 and 1969, and was also named to the All-Pro team in 1969. Jefferson retired from the NFL in 1970, but continued to play in the AFL for the Baltimore Colts until 1974.

He then retired from football for good, living the rest of his life in retirement. Roy Jefferson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987. 

He is currently the president of Jefferson Financial, a financial services company. Roy Jefferson is a member of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, and the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. Jefferson is currently 79 years old and living in Texarkana, Arkansas.

Paris Warren was a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2005-2008 and for the Dallas Cowboys from 2008-2009. Warren was drafted in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers and was signed to a rookie contract.

Fleming was a tight end for the Green Bay Packers from 1963 to 1969. Fleming was a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro. Fleming was known for his strong blocking and Receiving ability.

Norm Thompson is a Hall of Fame cornerback who played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1965-1971. He was a five-time All-Pro and was named to the NFL's All-Century Team.

He was also a member of the San Francisco 49ers' Super Bowl XXIII championship team. Thompson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He currently works as a television analyst and commentator.

Thompson was born in San Francisco, California, on March 5, 1945. He attended Polytechnic High School in San Francisco before playing college football at the University of Southern California. Thompson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1965 NFL Draft.

He played for the 49ers from 1965-1971 and was a five-time All-Pro and named to the NFL's All-Century Team.
