Athletic Club, commonly known as Athletic Bilbao or just Athletic, is a professional football club based in the city of Bilbao in the Basque Country of Spain. Founded in 1898, it has become one of La Liga’s most successful clubs and boasts an impressive record with 23 league titles and 19 Copa del Rey trophies. The team plays its home games at San Mamés Stadium which was opened for business on August 24 1913. Nicknamed Los Leones (The Lions), Athletic’s identity is deeply rooted in their local surroundings by only fielding players who are native to either the Greater Basque region or have historical ties to that area. This unique policy makes them stand out from other Spanish teams and adds another level to their appeal amongst fans throughout Europe.

Fernando Llorente is a Spanish striker who has played for Athletic Bilbao and Juventus. He was born in 1985 in Pamplona, Spain and started playing football at the age of six with local side Funes.

After spells with River Ebro and Athletic Bilbao, he joined Serie A club Juve in 2003 where he would score 66 goals over the next three seasons before moving to La Liga side Sevilla. 

In 2015 Llorente signed for Premier League outfit Swansea City on a free transfer but failed to make an impact during his two-year stay there, scoring just four times in 23 appearances.

On 1 July 2016 Llorente rejoined Juve after being released by Sevilla, making his debut a few days later against Fiorentina and notching up another goal soon afterward against Roma.

This proved to be his last game for the Bianconeri as they were subsequently relegated from Serie A following their loss to Liverpool that season. Since leaving Juventus, Llorente has continued his career back home with Athletic Bilbao where he currently plays alongside former teammate Iker Muniain.

Telmo Zarra was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward. He notably played for Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid and Barcelona, winning eight La Liga championships with the last three clubs.

He also won two Copa del Rey trophies with Barcelona and served as team captain at both club and international level in the 1950s. 

After retiring from playing he worked in management, most notably coaching Real Sociedad to their first championship title in over 50 years in 2004-05 season.

Telmo Zarra was born on January 20th 1921 in Erandio, Basque Country, Spain and died aged 85 on February 23rd 2006 after a long illness Telmo Zarra was a Spanish international forward who played for Athletic Bilbao and Spain during the 1940s. 

He started his career at Erandio before joining Athletic in 1940.

He made 277 appearances for the club over the next 27 years, scoring 251 goals. Telmo Zarra represented Spain on 20 occasions between 1945 and 1951, scoring 20 goals in total. 

After retiring from playing he became Athletic's director of football in 1955 until his death in 1987 aged 71.

Aritz Aduriz is a Spanish striker who plays for Athletic Bilbao. Aritz was born on February 11, 1981 in San Sebastián, Spain and started playing football at the age of six with local club Antiguoko.

In 1994, he signed with Real Sociedad where he made his La Liga debut the following year against Racing Santander. He spent seven seasons at Real Sociedad before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2009 for €12 million (£10 million).

Aritz has scored over 200 goals in his career including 83 league goals for Athletic Bilbao and 26 Champions League goals which makes him the all-time top scorer in that competition for both clubs combined (he also holds the record as Athletic's most prolific goal scorer overall).

He has won 10 titles during his time at Athletic including five Copa del Reys (2009–11, 2013–15, 2016–17), two Supercopas de España (2011 & 2015) and one UEFA Europa League title (2013). On 4 January 2019, Aduriz announced his retirement from professional football after 17 years playing professionally.

Iker Muniain is a Spanish winger currently playing for Athletic Bilbao. He started his career at Txantrea before signing with Athletic Bilbao in 2005. Muniain has played for Spain at youth level, and made his full international debut in 2012.

In 2014, he helped Athletic win the La Liga title and reach the Champions League Final. 

Muniain is considered to be one of the best players in Spain, and is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in world football Iker Muniain is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Basque Country and the Spain national team.

Iker Muniain started his career at Athletic Bilbao, before moving to La Liga side Barcelona in 2009. After two seasons with Barcelona, he joined English club Manchester United on Deadline Day in 2011 for £18 million. 

He spent four years at United, winning Premier League titles in 2012 and 2013, but left the club after their unsuccessful defence of the title in 2014.

In 2019, Muniain signed for newly-promoted Bundesliga side Bayern Munich on a three-year contract worth €7 million per season; this followed his successful trial period with them earlier that year. 

Iker Muniain has won 40 caps for Spain since making his debut in 2008, scoring 10 goals including two during Euro 2016 which saw him win the Golden Boot trophy as Europe's top scorer.

Iker was born on October 3rd 1986 in Gernika (Gipuzkoa), Basque Country, son of former Athletic player Jokin Muniaín and Ana Otxoa Urizarra Etxegarayu.

Joseba Etxeberria was born on September 5th, 1977 in Elgoibar, Spain. He started his career at Real Sociedad before moving to Mirandés in 2009 as a winger/forward.

Joseba has represented Spain at various levels and is currently manager of Mirandés. Joseba Etxeberria is a Spanish football manager and former player. He has managed Athletic Bilbao, Basconia, Amorebieta and Tenerife in his career so far.

Joseba played for Athletic Bilbao from 1992 until 2004 before retiring at the age of 33 due to injury. After retirement, he started working as a coach with the club's youth team until being appointed manager in 2012. 

In 2017, he was appointed manager of Basconia but left after only one season to take over at Amorebieta two years later.

Herrera was born in Bilbao, Spain on August 14th 1989. Herrera started his career with Athletic Bilbao before joining Manchester United in January 2013 for £29 million.

Herrera has made more than 200 appearances for United and has won numerous trophies including the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Spanish Liga titles. In June 2019, Herrera joined Paris Saint-Germain on a season long loan from Manchester United.

At 33 years old, Herrera is still an important player for PSG who are currently competing in the Ligue 1 title race. Herrera will return to Manchester United at the end of the season but can look forward to another successful campaign at Athletic Bilbao next term where he will captain them again.

Ander Herrera is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for English club Manchester United and the Spain national team. 

At Athletic Bilbao, Herrera became one of Europe's most promising young midfielders, winning four La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies in his time there.

He joined Manchester United in 2014 for an initial £29 million fee and has since made over 130 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals. 

With Spain, he has won two senior international caps but is perhaps best known for his performances at Euro 2016 where he helped lead his nation to their first ever major championship title.

In 2018-19, he led Manchester United to their fourth Premier League title in five seasons with 34 goals across all competitions – making him the sixth player to score more than 100 league goals for three different clubs during that period of time.

Iñaki Williams is a forward who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He was born in Bilbao, Spain on 15 June 1994. Williams started his career at Natación Pamplona before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2015.

The 28-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Basque side and scored 23 goals during his time there so far. Iñaki Williams is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Athletic Bilbao and the Spain national team.

García is an attacking midfielder who has played for Athletic Bilbao since 2013. García was born in Pamplona, Spain and started his career with local side Ardoi before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2007.

García made over 100 appearances for Atlético Madrid before joining Athletic Bilbao on a free transfer in 2013. Garcia has represented Spain at youth level, including winning the U-21 European Championship in 2009 and the U-20 World Cup two years later.

In addition to playing football professionally, Garcia also works as a model and actor Raúl García is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Osasuna as a midfielder. Raúl García started his career at hometown club Osasuna, before joining Atlético Madrid in 2007.

He spent six years with the "Colchoneros", helping them to two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey trophy. In 2011, García joined Spanish second division side Osasuna on loan, making 33 appearances and scoring 11 goals during the campaign. 

The following year he signed for Athletic Bilbao permanently; at both clubs he won La Liga twice and the Europa League once apiece between 2013 and 2016, while also being named captain of Spain's national team on multiple occasions.

On 1 November 2017, aged 32 years old, García announced his retirement from football due to persistent injuries sustained throughout his playing career including cruciate ligament damage suffered in 2015.

Whilst playing for Athletic Bilbao against Barcelona which ruled him out of action for almost 18 months.

After retiring from football Raúl has since become an assistant coach with Osasuna under manager Jokin Aperribay where they are currently competing in La Liga 2 Division.

José Ángel Iribar is a Spanish goalkeeper who spent his entire career with Athletic Bilbao. He made his La Liga debut in 1961 and went on to make 466 appearances for the club, including 78 as captain.

Iribar won several titles during his time at Athletic Bilbao, including the Copa del Rey in 1977 and 1981. After retiring from football, Iribar took up coaching positions with Basque side Salleco and Zarautz before returning to Athletic Bilbao as first-team coach in 2009.

José Ángel Iribar was named Athletic Bilbao's honorary president in 2011 and he continues to serve this role today. 

In March 2019, aged 79 years old, José Ángel Iribar announced that he would be stepping down from his coaching position at Athletic Bilbáo at the end of the season due to health concerns José Ángel Iribar was born on October 9th, 1956 in the Basque Country region of Spain.

After playing for several local clubs throughout his youth, he made his senior debut with Athletic Bilbao in 1974 and quickly became a key player for the team. 

He helped Athletic Bilbao to win both the La Liga championship and the European Cup in 1984, before moving onto manage Basque Country club Athletic Bilbao from 1983-1986. 

In 1988 he rejoined forces with former Athletic teammate José Antonio Camacho at newly promoted Barcelona where they won two Spanish League titles before retiring as players at the end of 1993 season.

José Ángel Iribar has since gone on to have a successful managerial career, first taking charge of CD Tenerife then coaching Valencia CF and Atlético Madrid among other clubs before being appointed head coach of Real Betis in 2010.

Marcos is a Spanish midfielder who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. De Marcos started his youth career at Atlético Madrid, but he made his senior debut with Athletic Bilbao in 2009.

He has since become an important player for the club and has helped them to win several trophies, including two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey title. In 2018, de Marcos signed a new contract with Athletic Bilbao that will keep him at the club until 2020.

Marcos is also known for his strong defensive play and accurate passing ability; these qualities have earned him the nickname "The Bird". De Marcos was born in Laguardia, Spain on 14 April 1989. Marcos is a Spanish footballer who plays as a central defender for Athletic Bilbao.

He was born on 9 May 1992 in Alavés, the son of former professional player and manager Ángel de Marcos. De Marcos started his career at hometown club Alavés before moving to Athletic Bilbao in 2009 where he has since made 349 appearances and scored 23 goals. 

He has represented Spain at youth levels, appearing for the under-20 team in 2009 and under-21 side one year later.

On 7 September 2012, he made his international debut for Spain coming off the bench against Bulgaria's national football team playing just 15 minutes before being substituted off by Santi Cazorla. 

His first goal for Spain came on 10 October 2013 during a 4–0 win over San Marino national football team from an assist from David Silva. Marcos also represented Basque Country internationally scoring once during their 1–1 draw with Andorra on 17 November 2014.

Agustín Gaínza was born on 28 May 1922 in Basauri, Spain. He started his career playing for local side Atlético de Bilbao before joining Real Madrid in 1941.

Gaínza made 83 appearances and scored 16 goals for Madrid during his time at the club. In 1964, he moved to Racing Santander where he played until 1978. 

After retiring from football, Agustin Gaínza worked as a coach with several clubs including Real Betis and CD Lugo before dying aged 72 in 1995 after a long battle with cancer Gaínza was a player for Athletic Bilbao from 1940-1959, playing in 380 matches and scoring 119 goals.

Gaínza played for Spain during the 1945-1955 period, winning 33 caps and 10 goals. After leaving Athletic Bilbao, Gaínza became manager of Bilbao Athletic in 1964 before returning to his former club as president in 1965. 

In 1968 he retired from playing altogether after leading his team to their first ever La Liga title. Agustín Gaínza is regarded as one of the greatest players to have represented Athletic Bilbao and Spanish football overall, making an immense impact on both levels throughout his career.

Aitor Larrazábal is a Spanish left-back who has played for Athletic Bilbao since 1989. He made his international debut in 1990 and over the course of his 433 appearances, he has scored 41 goals.

In 2004, Larrazabal moved to Gernika where he currently manages the team. Aitor Larrazábal was born on 21 June 1971 in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain Aitor Larrazábal is a Spanish football manager and former player.

He managed Athletic Bilbao's youth team for two seasons before being appointed to the senior team in 2016. Larrazábal led the club to promotion from La Liga in his first season, and then secured their return to the top division after a three-year absence in 2018–19.

He has also enjoyed success as a player, winning four caps for Spain U20 between 1990 and 1991 while at Barakaldo FC.. In 1997 he moved abroad, spending one season with Basque Country side SD Eibar before returning home to manage Lemona CF later that year. 

Larrazábal was appointed head coach of Gatika during 2008–09 but left after just six months due to personal reasons; he again returned briefly as head coach of Lemona midway through 2009–10 but resigned following an embarrassing 3–0 defeat at CD Mirandés BFC.

From 2011 until 2015, he served as assistant manager of Athletic Bilbao under Ernesto Valverde whilst continuing his duties with Lemona; on 20 December 2015, it was announced that he would take over managerial responsibilities full-time from Valverde.

 Under Larrazabal's guidance Athletic reached both domestic cup finals (the Copa del Rey and Europa League) during his tenure. On 12 June 2019 it was confirmed that Larrazabal had been sacked by Gernika following their relegation from La Liga.

Julen Guerrero is a Spanish attacking midfielder who has played for Athletic Bilbao and Spain. Julen Guerrero was born on 7 January 1974 in Portugalete, Spain.

He started his career at Athletic Bilbao before joining Valencia in 2002. After two seasons with Valencia, Julen signed with Barcelona where he spent six years playing alongside Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi among others before retiring from professional football in 2009.

In 2012, Julen became manager of the Spain U19 team and led them to the European Championships finals that year where they were runners-up to Italy after losing the final penalty shootout 3–2; this was his only major international honour as a manager.

As of December 2018, Julen is still managing Spain's under-19 side.[2] Julen Guerrero is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward for Athletic Bilbao.

He started his career at hometown club Athletic Bilbao, before moving to La Liga rivals Real Madrid in 2006. After two seasons with Madrid, he returned to Athletic Bilbao and has since made over 100 appearances for the club. 

Julen was part of Spain’s U21 team that finished runners-up at the European Championships in 2004, and also won the silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games on home soil. 

In May 2018 he announced his retirement from international football after being omitted from Vicente del Bosque's latest squad for World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Estonia At the domestic level.

Markel Susaeta is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Athletic Bilbao. Susaeta began his career with Athletic Bilbao, making over 250 appearances for the club before moving to Valencia in 2013.

After two seasons at Valencia, he rejoined Athletic Bilbao on a permanent basis in January 2017. He has represented Spain at under-21 level and also featured prominently for the senior side during Euro 2016 qualifying campaigns.

In 2018, Susaeta helped Athletic Bilbao win their 36th La Liga title – their fourth in five years - after scoring 15 goals across all competitions that season. Markel Susaeta is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao and the Spain national team.

Markel Susaeta started his career at Basconia before moving to Bilbao Athletic in 2006. He made 41 appearances over three seasons with the club before becoming a regular player for Athletic Bilbao between 2007 and 2019. In 2019, Susaeta joined Japanese side Gamba Osaka on a free transfer after leaving Athletic Bilbao.

He has since helped them win the J1 League title in his first season with them, as well as appearing in 10 matches for Melbourne City during their inaugural A-League campaign later that year.

Andoni Iraola is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga. He has played for Athletic Bilbao, Antiguoko and Valencia CF among others.

Andoni Iraola started his career at Athletic Bilbao before moving to Antiguoko and then Valencia CF. After making over 200 appearances for Valencia, he signed with Rayo Vallecano in 2016.

Andoni Iraola is renowned as a right-back but can also play on the left side of defence or midfield if needed; this versatility has seen him be used in various positions by his current manager at Rayo Vallecano, Pako Ayestaran.

Andoni Iraola was part of Spain's 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup squad and made two appearances during the tournament - one as a starter against Uruguay and another coming off the bench against Chile - helping Spain reach the semi-finals where they lost to Brazil 2–1 after extra time. 

In May 2017, Andoni Iaraolo was named in Vicente del Bosque's final 23 man World Cup squad.[2] He did not make an appearance during the tournament however Spain were runners up losing to Croatia 4–1 on penalties following a 1–1 draw after 120 minutes.

Mikel Balenziaga is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Athletic Bilbao. He made his senior debut in 2006 with lowly Terrassa, and has since gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club.

In 2017, Balenziaga was named La Liga Player of the Year after helping Athletic win their eleventh title in 12 years. Mikel Balenziaga was born in Zumarraga, Basque Country, on 29 February 1988. 

He started playing football at an early age with local team SD Aravaca before moving up to Terrassa's academy aged 16; he made his first-team debut three years later against Albacete.

While at Atlético Madrid,[2] Balenziaga won two Europa League titles (2012[3], 2016)[4]), one Copa del Rey (2015), and one Supercopa de España (2014).

Gorka Iraizoz is a Spanish professional goalkeeper who last played for NK Maribor in the Slovenian PrvaLiga. Gorka Iraizoz started his career at local side Chantrea and made over 100 appearances before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2003.

He spent six seasons with Athletic, winning La Liga titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 as well as the Copa del Rey twice (2005 and 2009). In 2011, he joined Basque Country on a season-long loan deal and helped them to win promotion to La Liga that year.

He signed for NK Maribor in 2012 where he has since made 93 appearances across all competitions including 2 Champions League games which saw him make an appearance against Manchester United.

Yeray Álvarez is a Spanish centre-back who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He came up through the ranks of Athletic, and made his debut in 2011. In 2018, he helped Athletic win their 25th La Liga title.

Yeray has also represented Spain at youth level, and was part of the team that won the UEFA U17 European Championship in 2013. He is reportedly a versatile defender, able to play as either a central or left-sided player; this has seen him used both in defence and midfield during his career at Bilbao so far.

Yeray Álvarez was born on the 6th of December, 1992 in Bilbao, Basque Country. Yeray Álvarez started his career at Athletic Bilbao and played for them until 2013 when he moved to Danok Bat. 

In 2018, Yeray Álvarez rejoined Athletic Bilbao and has since been a regular in the team's starting eleven. Outside of football, Yeray Álvarez is a civil engineering student and also plays basketball for his university side Euskaltel-Euskadi de Murcia.

Mikel San José is a Spanish defensive midfielder who has played for Athletic Bilbao since 2005. He made his senior international debut for Spain in 2014 and has been a mainstay of the national team ever since.

Mikel San José was named La Liga Player of the Year in 2015–16, 2017–18, and 2018-19 seasons. In December 2018, he signed a new five-year contract with Athletic Bilbao that will keep him at the club until 2024-25 season.

Mikel San José notably represented Spain at UEFA Euro 2016 and FIFA World Cup Russia2018 where they reached the semi finals respectively Mikel San José is a Spanish footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao. He began his career with hometown club Real Sociedad, making his senior debut in 2007 at the age of 17.

Carlos Gurpegui is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre back or defensive midfielder for Basconia. He began his career with Zarra before moving to Izarra in 1997.

In 2002, he signed for Racing Santander and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club, winning two La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey trophies. After leaving Racing Santander in 2007, Gurpegui played for Villarreal B, Mallorca and Almería before joining Basconia in 2018.

Villalibre was born in Guernica and represents Spain at youth level. He is known for his explosive runs down the wing and deadly finishing ability. Villalibre is a versatile defender who can play in any position on the pitch.

Beñat Etxebarria is a central midfielder who has played for Athletic Bilbao since 1998. He was born in Igorre, Spain on 19 February 1987 and began his career with Arratia before joining Athletic Bilbao.

Beñat made his La Liga debut for Athletic in 2006 and went on to make over 230 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals during that time. In 2014, he moved to Atlético Madrid where he spent two seasons before retiring at the end of the 2016-17 season aged 35 years old due to injury.

Beñat Etxebarria is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Athletic Bilbao. He made his senior debut with Athletic Bilbao in 2006 and has since gone on to make over 500 appearances for the club. 

Etxebarria has also represented Spain at both U17 and U21 level, winning silver medals at the latter tournament in 2011.

In January 2019, he was named captain of Athletic Bilbao by new manager Ernesto Valverde after previous captain Ander Herrera departed for Manchester United. 

Beñat Etxebarria typically operates as an attacking midfielder but can also be deployed further forward if required, making him versatile and dangerous on the pitch. 

He is well known for his powerful shots from range and accurate passing ability, which allows him to set up teammates easily or score himself goals from close-range opportunities; this makes him one of the most complete midfielders in La Liga.

Ander Iturraspe is a versatile defensive midfielder who has played for Athletic Bilbao, Matiena and Abadiño. He made his debut for Athletic Bilbao in 2003 and went on to make over 180 appearances for the club before joining La Liga rivals Barcelona in 2014.

At international level, Ander Iturraspe has represented Spain at Under-17, U19 and U21 levels before making his senior debut in 2009. In 2015 he joined Spanish top flight side Valencia but only managed 14 appearances due to injury before departing the club later that year.

Since then, Ander Iturraspe has had spells with Racing Santander (2016) and Alcorcón (2017). He is currently contracted to Italian Serie B side Frosinone until 2020 where he will be hoping to help them return to the top tier of European football Ander Iturraspe is a Spanish footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao as a left back.

He has also played for the Spain national team. Ander Iturraspe was born on 6 January 1991 in Oviedo, Asturias.

Francisco Yeste played for Athletic Bilbao from 1997 to 1998. He is a versatile attacking midfielder who can play either on the left or in the middle of the pitch.

His most successful spell came with Basconia, where he scored 38 goals in just 7 seasons. After retiring from playing, Francisco Yeste started coaching at his former club Athletic Bilbao and has since helped them win several titles.

In 2015, he was appointed manager of Spain's Under-21 team but resigned after less than two months due to differences with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). 

Francisco Yeste was born on December 6th, 1979 in Basauri, Aragon, Spain and currently resides in San Sebastian with his wife and four children Francisco Yeste is a Spanish professional football manager who has been in charge of both Eldense and Elda.

He managed Basque Country for 5 years before taking the reins at Eldeste, where he led them to promotion from La Liga 2 during his first season in charge. In December 2016, Francisco was appointed as head coach of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao. 

A former striker himself, Yeste played 176 matches during his career which included spells with Athletic Bilbao, FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.

After retiring from playing professionally in 2007, he worked as an assistant manager at clubs like Racing Santander and Granada CF before being appointed head coach of Basque Country in 2013.

He left Basque Country after just one year in charge due to differences with the club's board but returned to manage Eldense for a second time last summer.

His contract at Eldense was terminated by mutual consent on 12 January 2019 following a 1-1 draw against CD Mirandés which eliminated them from the Copa del Rey.

Vesga was born in Vitoria, Spain on 8 April 1993. He started his career at hometown club Athletic Bilbao and made his professional debut in 2012. Vesga has since played for several other clubs including Leganés, Atlético Madrid, and Valencia CF but is currently with Athletic Bilbao again.

As a defensive midfielder, Vesga is known to be very disciplined on the pitch and always puts 100% into every game he plays. Mikel Vesga Arruti is married to Laura Gallego and the couple have two children together - Lola (born 2013) and Leo (born 2017).

Vesga joined Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2014 and has since played over 100 games for the Basque club.

Vesga is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere across the midfield three, as well as at centre-back or full-back. Vesga has been capped by Spain at youth level, but he hasn't yet made his senior international debut.

Ismael Urzaiz is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre forward for Segunda División club Racing de Santander. He started his career with Real Madrid, but spent most of his time with their B team.

In 1993 he joined Albacete, where he remained for six seasons before joining Racing in 2001. Urzaiz has scored over 100 goals in the Spanish top division and helped Racing to two La Liga titles and three Copa del Reys trophies during his spell at the club.

He announced his retirement from professional football on 26 January 2017 after 16 seasons playing professionally.[2] Ismael was born on 7 October 1971 in Tudela, Navarre[1]. Ismael Urzaiz is a Spanish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Athletic Bilbao.

He began his career at Celta before joining Rayo Vallecano in 1993. In 1994, he joined Salamanca and helped them to promotion to La Liga the following year. Iñigo Martínez was born on 17 May 1991 in Ondarroa, Spain. He started his career with Aurrerá Ondarroa, before joining Real Sociedad in 2009. 

After making 54 appearances for the reserve team, Martínez made his senior debut for Real Sociedad in a 2-1 victory over Racing Santander on 14 October 2009.

In 2011 he joined Athletic Bilbao and has since played 219 games for the club, scoring 10 goals.[1] Iñigo Martinez is a versatile midfielder who can play as either a defensive or attacking player in midfield.

Ander Capa is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He was born in Portugalete, Spain, on 8 February 1992 and started playing football at an early age with local club CD Nueva Palencia.

Capa made his senior debut with Athletic Bilbao during the 2013–14 season and has since gone on to make over 200 appearances for the La Liga side. Ander Capa is primarily a right-back but can also play as a winger or defensive midfielder when required.

He has been capped by Spain at under-21 level and represented his country at the 2016 European Championship tournament where they reached the semi-finals before being beaten by eventual champions France.

Rafael Moreno Aranzadi was a forward who played for clubs in Spain. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 29, just three years after his debut season with Athletic Bilbao.

Pichichi is widely regarded as one of the greatest forwards to have ever played Spanish football and he is also considered to be one of the pioneers of La Liga tactics. His legacy lives on through his numerous accolades, including four La Liga titles and two Copa del Reys (Spanish Cup).

As well as being a highly successful player on the pitch, Pichchi was also known for his strong character and leadership skills both on and off the field.

Pichichi is the most capped player in Spain's football history and was a key figure of Bilbao FC during their golden era. Pichichi holds the record for most goals scored in La Liga, as well as being the competition's all-time leading scorer.

Iñigo Lekue is a Spanish footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao as a right-back. He made his debut with Athletic in 2011, and has since played over 150 matches for the club.

In 2017, he won La Liga with Athletic Bilbao after defeating Barcelona 3-1 on aggregate in the final playoff stage. Lekue was born in Spain but raised in England before returning to his home country at age 18 to play football professionally.

He represented Spain at under-21 level, making his debut against Hungary back in 2012 and scoring one goal during that campaign's qualification process for the 2013 European Championship finals which Spain eventually hosted without success due to heavy defeats against Italy and France respectively.

Iñigo Lekue is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Athletic Bilbao. He made his debut for the club in 2012 and has since gone on to make 142 appearances, scoring three goals. 

Lekue was born in Basque Country, but grew up in the nearby city of Vitoria-Gasteiz before joining Athletic Bilbao's youth academy at the age of 13.

Nico Williams is a Spanish winger who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He joined CD Pamplona's youth academy in 2010, and made his senior debut the following year.

In 2012 he moved to Athletic Bilbao, where he has since spent three seasons playing regularly for their first team. Williams primarily operates as a left winger, but can also be deployed on the right side of the pitch if required.

He has represented Spain at under-16, under-17 and under-21 level respectively, scoring one goal in total during those tournaments combined.

Bata Arana was a striker who played for clubs such as Athletic Bilbao, Valencia CF and Atlético Madrid. He is best known for his time with Athletic Bilbao where he won four La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey trophies.

Bata Arana made his international debut in 1934 and went on to earn 20 caps for Spain, scoring six goals. He represented the country at the World Cup in 1954 and 1958, as well as the European Championships in 1960 and 1964.

After retiring from football, Bata Arana became a coach at several clubs including Barcelona SC (where he led them to Spanish League title glory) and Real Betis Balompié before returning to Athletic Bilbao as their director of football in 1978.

Bata Arana died aged 78 after a long illness following which he was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Deusto.

Rafael Alkorta began his career at Athletic Bilbao, before moving to Barcelona in 1987. He spent 17 seasons with the club, winning 11 La Liga titles and 3 Champions League crowns.

In 1993, he moved to Atlético Madrid where he played until 2003. After a brief spell back at Athletic Bilbao, he retired from football in 2006. Rafael is widely regarded as one of the greatest centre-backs of all time and was named by Pelé as one of the 125 Greatest Living Footballers in 2009.

In 2018, he made a cameo appearance for Real Betis in their Copa Del Rey final win over Sevilla FC – his first competitive game since 2007. Dani Vivian Moreno is a young, talented centre back who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. Dani was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain and started his career with local side San Viator.

He made his professional debut with Alavés in 2009 and quickly became a key player for the club. In 2011 he moved to Athletic Bilbao and has since become an important part of their squad.

Alejandro Berenguer Remiro was born on July 4th, 1995 in Pamplona, Spain. He is a winger who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. Alejandro has represented his country at youth level and played for the Under-21 side during the 2016 European Championships.

Unai Simón is a goalkeeper who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. Unai was born in 1997 and started playing football at the young age of six with his local team, Aurrerá Vitoria.

Gorostiza is considered one of the greatest forwards in football history. He played for clubs such as Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Internazionale. Gorostiza was born on 15 February 1909 in Santurtzi, Spain, and died on 23 August 1966 at the age of 57.

Guillermo Gorostiza began his professional career with Zarate's Chávarri before joining Zugazarte in 1931. In 1933, he signed for Atlético Madrid where he won two La Liga titles and the Copa del Generalísimo trophy during his time there. 

After leaving Atlético Madrid in 1938, Gorostiza joined Barcelona where he helped them to win three successive La Liga titles (1939–41).

His performances at Camp Nou earned him a call up to the Spanish national team which he represented at both the World Cup (1950) and European Championship (1952). 

In 1956, after 12 years with Internazionale, Gorostiza retired from playing football due to injury but continued working as a coach until his death six years later.

Gorka Guruzeta is a Spanish striker who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He started his career with CD Numancia and was part of their youth team that won the Copa del Rey Juvenil in 2013.

In 2018, he helped Athletic achieve another treble by winning the Primera Division, Copa Del Rey (where they defeated Real Madrid 3–1), and European Champions Cup (against Manchester United). 

At international level, Gorka has represented Spain at under-17s level before making his senior debut against Austria on 15 March 2015.

José Orúe was a defender who played for Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid during his illustrious career. He also represented Spain at the 1962 World Cup and Euro 1968.

José Orúe died in 2007 at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer. José Orúe played for Athletic Bilbao from 1950-1968, accumulating 421 appearances and scoring 31 goals. José Orúe also had a successful international career with Spain, playing in 3 games during the 1953-1957 period.

After leaving Athletic Bilbao, José Orúe went on to play for several other clubs including Barakaldo (loan) and Spain B before retiring in 1968.

Zarraga was born in Getxo, Spain on 4 January 1999. He started his career with Athletic Bilbao and made his first-team debut in 2016. Zarraga is a central midfielder who can also play as an attacking midfielder or winger.

He has represented Spain at youth level and won the U21 European Championship in 2017. Zarraga is a key player for Athletic Bilbao and hopes to win trophies with the club during his time there Zarraga was born on 9th of July, 1995 in Bilbao, Biscay.

He started his football career at Athletic Bilbao’s youth academy and made his senior debut for the club in 2009 during the first season of La Liga. Zarraga went on to make 63 appearances for Athletic Bilbao over 7 seasons before joining Basconia in 2017.

His most prolific season came with Athletic Bilbao where he scored 7 goals across 38 league appearances in 2019-2021. Oier is currently a free agent and has not yet signed a new contract with any club as of 1st of July 2022.

Jon Morcillo is a Spanish winger who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He spent his youth career with Amorebieta-Etxano. Morcillo made his professional debut in the 2016/17 season and has since become an important player for Bilbao, scoring 10 goals in all competitions so far this season.

Morcillo is known for his speed, creativity and attacking ability on the wing; he has been praised by pundits as one of the best young players in Europe. Morcillo is eligible to play for Spain at international level and was called up to their U21 squad earlier this year. 

In November 2018, it was announced that Jon Morcillo had won the Best Young Player award at the 2018 Europa League Awards ceremony, held in Monaco following Athletic's victory over Liverpool in the competition final that month.

Dani García is a midfielder for Athletic Bilbao and was born in 1990. Dani Garcia started his career at hometown club Zumarraga before moving to Granada CF in 2006.

He signed with Athletic Bilbao from Villarreal CF in the summer of 2017, becoming the 14th player ever to join the club's history. Dani García has made over 100 appearances for Athletic Bilbao since joining them, scoring 16 goals along the way.

Dani Garcia will be looking to help Athletic Bilbao win their sixth La Liga title this season and qualify for Europe once again Dani García is a Spanish footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao. Dani García began his career at Alicante B, before moving to Getafe B in 2011.

He joined Real Sociedad in 2012 and spent four years with the club without making an appearance. In 2014, he moved abroad to play for Eibar on loan before joining Athletic Bilbao permanently in 2018. Dani García has made five appearances for Spain’s national team, scoring one goal during Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Pablo Orbaiz was born on February 6th 1979 in Pamplona, Spain. He started his career at Osasuna before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2008. Pablo is a defensive midfielder and has played for Osasuna B, Athletic Bilbao and the Spanish national team over the course of his career.

Pablo retired from football in 2018 after 15 seasons playing professionally Pablo Orbaiz is a Spanish professional footballer who currently plays for Olympiacos. 

He primarily plays as a midfielder, but can also be used as a left back or central defender. Pablo Orbaiz started his career with Osasuna before moving to Athletic Bilbao in 2000.

With the Basque side, he won two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey trophy during his time there. In 2012, he joined Rubin Kazan on loan, making 24 appearances and scoring 1 goal before returning to Athletic Bilbao the following year. 

After spending three seasons at Valladolid, he signed for Greek side Olympiacos in January 2017. Pablo Orbaiz has represented Spain at youth level on multiple occasions and made his full international debut in 2006 against Bulgaria; since then he's played 15 times for the senior team without ever scoring a goal.

Julen Agirrezabala is a 22-year old goalkeeper who currently plays for Athletic Bilbao. He made his senior debut in 2018 and has since been an important part of the team.

Julen was born in San Sebastián, Spain, on December 26th 2000. At 1.87m (6ft 2in), he is tall enough to be a goalkeeper but also agile enough to play as a defender or midfield player if needed.

Julen started his career with local side CD Elorrio before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2016 when he was just 16 years old Julen Agirrezabala is a Spanish footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao as a left back.

He has spent his entire senior career with Athletic, making 186 appearances and scoring 10 goals for the club. In May 2020, he signed a new contract extension with Bilbao that will keep him at the club until 2024.

He made his international debut for Spain in March 2021, playing 5 minutes in their U21 Euro Championship qualifying victory over Estonia. Julen Agirrezabala is known for being an attacking full back who likes to get forward and help create chances for his team mates.

Manuel Sarabia was born in Abanto Zierbena, Spain on 9 January 1957. He started his professional career with Athletic Bilbao in 1974 and played for the club until 1988.

During this time he made 284 appearances and scored 83 goals. In 1977 Sarabia joined Barakaldo on a loan spell and helped the team to promotion from Segunda División B in 1978 after scoring 14 goals in 35 games.

After leaving Athletic Bilbao, Sarabia spent two seasons with Logroñés before retiring at the end of 1991 season aged 39 years old having amassed 79 appearances and 18 goals during his senior career Manuel Sarabia is a Spanish footballer who has played for clubs in both Spain and England.

He started his career at hometown club Bilbao Athletic, before moving to La Liga sides Badajoz and Numancia. Sarabia then had spells with French side Olympique Marseille and English side Bolton Wanderers before returning to Spain with Racing Santander. 

He retired from professional football after leaving Racing Santander at the end of the 2005–06 season, having made over 150 appearances in the Spanish top flight alone.

After retiring from playing, Manuel Sarabia took up a managerial role with fellow second division outfit Pontevedra CF in 2007–08 and later managed Numancia also in the second division between 2009 and 2010 as they narrowly avoided relegation on both occasions.

He was sacked midway through his third season with Numancia however due to poor results which left them bottom of their league table In July 2011 it was announced that Sarabia would take over coaching responsibilities at newly promoted. 

Segunda División B team CD Leganés following José Antonio Camacho's sacking only for him to be dismissed by president Jaime López Vázquez less than four months into his tenure|7|8}.

On 9 August 2018, it was confirmed that Manuel Sarabi will become new head coach of SD Eibar effective immediately.
