The Puerto Rico Men’s National Basketball Team is a powerhouse in international basketball, competing in nine Olympic Games and 12 World Championships since joining FIBA in 1957.

Led by greats such as Juan Vicéns, who averaged 22 points per game in the 1959 World Championship in Chile, the team has consistently performed on the global stage.

Carlos Arroyo was born on July 30, 1979 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. He attended high school at Colegio Santiago Apostol (Fajardo, Puerto Rico) and played college basketball for FIU from 1997-2001.

Arroyo was undrafted out of college but signed with the Cariduros de Fajardo in 1996 and then joined the Cangrejeros de Santurce in 1998. 

His professional career lasted from 1996-2019 with stints with Cariduros de Fajardo (1996–1997), Cangrejeros de Santurce (1998–2003), Fort Wayne Mad Ants (2004), Atlanta Hawks (2005–2006), Charlotte Bobcats/Pistons (2007–2008; 2009–2010; 2011) and Philadelphia 76ers/New Orleans Pelicans (2011).

Carlos has averaged 12 points per game over his NBA career while shooting 47 percent from the field and averaging 4 assists per game. 

In 2019, he retired after playing for the Philadelphia 76ers during their first season post relocation to Las Vegas as part of a three-team trade that also involved New Orleans Pelicans.

Teófilo Cruz was a center for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1965 to 1982. Teófilo Cruz was an All-Star in six of his thirteen seasons in the NBA, and he led the league in rebounding twice.

After playing college basketball at New York University, Teófilo Cruz joined Seattle University as a junior before being drafted by the Lakers. Cruz is considered one of the best centers ever to play in the NBA, and his number 13 jersey remains retired by both Laker teams he played for throughout his career.

In 2005, aged 63 years old, Teófilo Cruz died after a long battle with leukemia which took over two decades to diagnose and cure Teófilo Cruz is a Puerto Rican-born professional basketball player who competed in the National Basketball Association (NBA). 

Cruz played for various teams over his 19-year career, most notably with the Cangrejeros de Santurce and Mets de Guaynabo.

He was often recognised as one of the best players in the world, winning multiple awards and accolades along the way. After retiring from play, Cruz became a television commentator and coach.

Rodriguez was a standout player at Dr. Krop High School in Miami, Florida, before playing for Kansas State and then Miami (Florida). Rodriguez was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 53rd pick of the 2016 NBA draft but did not sign with them.

He has since played for various teams around Europe and South America. In May 2017, Rodriguez signed with Spanish club Valencia Basket as a free agent. 

During his time in Spain, he helped lead Valencia to two successive league championships while averaging 13 points per game over.

The course of 38 appearances throughout both seasons combined Rodriguez was a standout at Cholet Basket, winning the French League championship in 2016 and 2017.

Rodriguez joined Maccabi Haifa for the 2017-2018 season and led them to an Israeli League title. In 2018, he signed with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA G-League before returning to Vaqueros de Bayamón for the 2019-2020 season. 

Rodriguez has been named MVP of both seasons with Rio Grande Valley Vipers but is now back in Bayamón where he will continue his basketball career as one of Puerto Rico's most promising players.

Ricky Sánchez is a Puerto Rican power forward and center who has played in the NBA since 2005. He was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2005, but he never actually played for them as they traded him to the New Orleans Hornets just a few months later.

After spending two years with the Hornets, Sánchez joined Spanish club Valencia Basket in 2009 where he spent three seasons before moving back to Spain and joining Montañas de Madrid of Liga ACB in 2013. 

In 2017, Ricky signed with Turkish club Fenerbahçe Ülker after playing one season for Unicaja Málaga of Liga ACB; however, he only lasted until January 2018 when his contract was terminated due to disciplinary issues (later revealed to be drug misuse).

In February 2019, it was announced that Sánchez had rejoined former team Valencia Basket on a one-year deal pending league clearance following successful rehabilitation from substance abuse problems which caused his previous stint at Fenerbahçe Ülker not to materialize as planned.

Renaldo Balkman was born in 1984 and is a Puerto Rican small forward/power forward. He played college ball at South Carolina, where he averaged 15.8 points per game over his two seasons there.

After going undrafted in the 2006 NBA Draft, Balkman signed with the New York Knicks and went on to play for them from 2006-2008 before signing with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009. 

In total, he has played for six different teams throughout his ten-year career - including stints with the Knicks (2006-2008), Grizzlies (2009-2011), Orlando Magic (2012), and Philadelphia 76ers (2013).

Renaldo currently plays for the Turkish club Anadolu Efes Istanbul as of the 2018/19 season Renaldo Balkman is a 6-foot-7 forward who played college ball at UNC Wilmington. 

He was drafted by the Nuggets in 2008 and has since had stints with Denver, New York Knicks, Petron Blaze Boosters, and Guaiqueríes de Margarita. 

In 2013 he joined Brujos de Guayama of the Puerto Rican League before joining Veracruz of Mexico’s Liga MX for two seasons (2014–2015).

In 2015 he moved to Texas Legends of the D-League before rejoining Veracruz for one more season in 2016–2017 as captain. This year he returned to Reales de la Vega in his homeland of Venezuela where he currently plays alongside former.

Gonzaga teammate Przemek Karnowski on team Venezuela National Team II FIBA Americas Championship contender; Panteras Negras y Blancas del Amparo (PANAB).

Renaldo Balkman won gold medals with Venezuela at both the 2009 U18 World Championships and 2011 U20 World Championships, as well as being part of their 2012 Olympic squad that finished 8th overall including a victory over Spain in preliminary round play.

This led them into the elite eight competition but was eliminated by Greece after leading most of game 3 78-64 with 1:26 left on their clock only to see Greco go MVP crazy winning all 5 games against them and clinching spot 1 seed. 

Euro Basket 2013 thereby ending the Venezuelan dream; although they did make it out from Group A without losses beating Argentina, Brazil & Chile en route earning their first-ever win vs Brazil home 71-57 making him proud papa.

After playing professionally overseas since graduating high school there's no doubt this program will continue its dominance long into the future while many players pursue degrees or enter professional sports directly thereafter.

Barea was born in Puerto Rico and starred at Miami Christian School before playing college ball at Northeastern. After being undrafted, he played for several years in the Spanish leagues before landing with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

Barea has been a mainstay of the Mavericks since then, helping them to two NBA Finals appearances (2013 and 2015) as well as back-to-back Southwest Division titles (2015–16). 

In 2017, he took over as head coach of his former team, retiring from active play later that year after guiding Dallas to their first ever playoff series win.

J. J. Barea is a former NBA player who won an championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. Barea spent time playing in Spain and then joined the Minnesota Timberwolves before ending up back in his home country of Puerto Rico with the Cangrejeros de Santurce, where he currently serves as head coach. 

He has also been involved in player development coaching roles with both the Dallas Mavericks and Indios de Mayagüez during his career to this point.

Tremont Waters is a 25-year-old American/Puerto Rican point guard currently playing in the LNB Pro A league. Tremont Waters attended Notre Dame High School before attending LSU where he started all 32 games during his three seasons with the Tigers.

The Boston Celtics drafted Waters in 2019, and he has appeared in 19 games for them this season averaging 4 points and 2 assists per game. Tremont Waters was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2020 and made his NBA debut that same year. 

Waters is a versatile forward who can play multiple positions, including small forward and power forward. Tremont has averaged 13 points per game through his first two seasons in the NBA. He also averages 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game. 

The former Maine Red Claws player is currently playing for the Metropolitans 92 of the G League.

Gian Clavell was born on November 26, 1993, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He played high school basketball at Hialeah Gardens in Hialeah, Florida. He played college basketball for Northwest Kansas and Colorado State.

He was undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft but signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Miami Heat in the NBA. He has also played in the EuroCup and the Baltic Basketball League.

He is currently a shooting guard and point guard for the Prometey in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. Gian Clavell has represented Puerto Rico at the international level. He has a height of 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) and a weight of 185 lb (84 kg).

Gian Clavell is a 6-foot-10, 240-pound power forward who hails from Venezuela. He played college basketball at the University of Utah and was named first-team all-MWC in his senior season. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft.

He has spent the last two seasons with the Texas Legends in the NBA Development League. He signed with the Greek club, Sakarya BB, for the 2018-19 season. 

He has also played for Estudiantes in Argentina and Frutti Extra Bursaspor in Turkey. He is currently with Budivelnyk in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague.

Clavell is a skilled scorer and rebounder who is known for his high energy play. He is a natural born leader who is looking to make an impact in the NBA.

9. Aleem Ford

Aleem Ford is a 25-year-old small forward who is currently playing with the Lakeland Magic in the NBA G League. Ford attended Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia and was a three-year starter.

He averaged 20.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a senior. Ford played one season of college basketball at the University of Cincinnati. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.

Ford was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft, but he was traded to the Phoenix Suns before the season started. Ford played in 28 games for the Suns, averaging 3.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Ford was traded to the Magic in February 2019. He has played in 14 games for them, averaging 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Ford is a member of the United States national team and participated in the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship.

Ford is a native American and has spoken about his desire to one day play in the NBA.

Jaysean Paige was born on July 30, 1994 in Jamestown, New York. He played high school basketball at Jamestown. He played college basketball at Southern Idaho and Moberly Area CC before transferring to West Virginia.

He was undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft but has played in the NBA since 2016. Paige is a point guard who has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Miami Heat. 

He was named to the 2018 NBA All-Rookie Second Team and was named to the 2019 NBA All-Star Game but did not play due to injury.

Paige has won two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Miami Heat. He is married to actress and model Chanel Iman and they have one daughter. Paige is a Puerto Rican national and has represented his country in international basketball competitions.

Ramón Clemente is a power forward who has played in the NBA for the last six seasons. He played college basketball at Wichita State. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2009 NBA draft, but did not play in the league.

He has played for the Indios de Mayagüez in the Puerto Rican BSN league. He is currently a player for the New Orleans Pelicans. Ramón Clemente is a professional basketball player who has played in the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague.

Clemente has also played for several teams in the Israeli Premier League, most notably Maccabi Ashdod and Hapoel Yokneam Megido. 

Clemente has won several awards, including the Spanish League MVP in 2009 and the EuroLeague MVP in 2011. Clemente is a two-time Spanish League champion and a two-time EuroLeague champion.

Clemente is currently playing for the Cangrejeros de Santurce in the Puerto Rican BSN League.

12. Alfonso Plummer

Alfonso Plummer was born in 1997 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. He played high school basketball at Colegio La Luz Juncos in Juncos, Puerto Rico. Plummer played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats.

He joined the LNB Pro A club Paris Basketball in 2019. Plummer has played in the LNB Pro A, EuroCup, and NBA G League. Plummer is a shooting guard. Plummer has played for the Puerto Rican national team.

He is 25 years old. Plummer is 6'1" and 180 pounds. Alfonso Plummer is a 20 year old guard from Arizona Western University. He averaged 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in his junior year.

After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, Plummer signed with the Paris Basketball club in the French top-tier league. Plummer has represented Mexico at the U-19 and U-20 level. He is a member of the Piñera Sports Academy.

José Ortiz was originally drafted by the Utah Jazz in the 1987 NBA draft, but he never played for them. He instead played for the Atléticos de San Germán and CAI Zaragoza before retiring in 2006.

Ortiz was a dominant power forward and center during his playing career, averaging 22.7 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game over his 18-year career. 

Ortiz is one of the most decorated players in Puerto Rican history, winning seven league MVP Awards, three Finals MVP Awards and two Olympic gold medals.

Ortiz is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. 

José Ortiz is currently the head coach for the Puerto Rico national basketball team. José Ortiz played professional basketball in Spain, Greece, and Puerto Rico before joining the Utah Jazz in 1988.

Ortiz was an All-Star in both the Spanish and Greek leagues and helped lead FC Barcelona to the Spanish League championship in 1992. He then signed with Real Madrid and helped the team win the Spanish Cup in 1990 and the Spanish League championship in 1992. 

In 1993, Ortiz joined Festina Andorra and helped the team to the Euroleague Finals where they were defeated by Ettore Messina's Unicaja Polti.

Ortiz then signed with Atléticos de San Germán and helped the team to the 1994 Quarterfinals of the Spanish League. In 1995, he joined Iraklio Crete and helped the team to win the Greek League championship. 

Ortiz then signed with Aris and helped the team to the Euroleague Final Four in 1997. He then joined the Guaiqueríes de Margarita and helped the team to win the Venezuelan League championship in 1998.

Ortiz then signed with the Capitanes de Arecibo and helped the team to win the Puerto Rican League championship in 2006.

Daniel Santiago was drafted by the NBA but did not play in the league. Santiago played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1996 to 2015. Santiago was a center and played for teams such as Vaqueros de Bayamón, Pallacanestro Varese, and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Santiago has played in two Olympic games for Puerto Rico and is a two-time gold medalist. Santiago is a two-time All-Star and won the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in 2006.

 Santiago retired in 2015 and has since been working as a television commentator. Santiago is married and has two children.

Daniel Santiago was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft. Santiago played with the Suns, the Vaqueros de Bayamón and the Lottomatica Roma in his first three seasons in the league. 

He then moved to the Milwaukee Bucks and played with them until 2005. Santiago then spent two seasons with the Spanish League's Unicaja Málaga before joining the Barcelona team.

He then signed with the Vaqueros de Bayamón and played with them for another two seasons. Santiago then moved to the Efes Pilsen team in Greece for a season. 

He then returned to Spain and signed with Boca Juniors. Santiago then spent two seasons with the Mets de Guaynabo. Santiago then signed with the Capitanes de Arecibo.

Ramos was born on May 23, 1985 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Ramos played high school basketball for Colegio Bautista de Caguas. Ramos was drafted by the Washington Wizards in the 2004 NBA draft.

Ramos spent the majority of his career with the Washington Wizards, but also played for the Idaho Stampede and Roanoke Dazzle. Ramos retired from professional basketball in 2020. Ramos is currently a professional basketball coach.

Ramos has two children. Ramos is a Puerto Rican national. Ramos is currently married. Ramos was born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico in 1992. He played for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in the 2007-2008 season before moving to Piratas de Quebradillas in 2009.

Ramos then played for Zhejiang Lions from 2009-2010 before joining the Seoul Samsung Thunders in 2011. Ramos moved to Qingdao DoubleStar in 2013 before joining the Capitanes de Arecibo in 2014. Ramos then moved to Brujos de Guayama in 2015 before joining the Kia Carnival in 2015.

Ramos played for Jilin Northeast Tigers in 2016-2017 before joining the Vaqueros de Bayamón in 2017. Ramos then played for Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor in 2018 before joining the Leones de Ponce in 2018. 

Ramos is currently with the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas. Ramos has won a SBL Best Foreign Player Award in 2018.

16. Rubén Rodríguez

Rubén Rodríguez was a power forward and center for the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, and Boston Celtics over a 14-year NBA career.

Rodríguez was highly decorated throughout his playing career, winning five MVP Awards and three Finals MVP Awards. He is also one of only four players in NBA history to average at least 20 points and 10 rebounds per game for his career.

Rodríguez was born in New York City, and attended Reading Senior High School. After playing college basketball at LIU Brooklyn, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1975 NBA draft. He spent his first seven seasons with the 76ers, before being traded to the New York Knicks in 1981.

Rodríguez spent the next six seasons with the Knicks, winning two championships in 1984 and 1985. He was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he played for three seasons. 

He then joined the Detroit Pistons, where he spent the next six seasons. In 1990, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played for five seasons.

He then joined the Boston Celtics, where he played his final season in 1991. Rodríguez retired from the NBA following the 1991 season. 

He later returned to the Knicks as a head coach, before retiring from coaching in 2006. He is currently a television analyst for the NBA on TNT.

He played college basketball for Spartak Saint Petersburg in Russia. He was a two-time BSN Most Valuable Player and a LNPB All-Star. He played in the 2003 Puerto Rico AmeriCup and the 2006 Leones de Ponce. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2005 NBA draft but never signed.

Javier Mojica was born in Auburn, Massachusetts, on August 31, 1984. He attended high school at Auburn, where he played basketball for the Auburn Tigers.

Mojica then attended Central Connecticut, where he played for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils. Mojica was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2007 NBA draft but was never officially signed by them.

He has since played for the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers, and Puerto Rico men's national basketball team. 

Mojica is currently a free agent and is rumoured to be playing in the Puerto Rican National Basketball League in the near future.

Jerome Mincy is currently an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies. He was also a color commentator for the NBA on TNT for a few seasons. Jerome Mincy is married and has two children. He currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jerome Mincy, the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in Blazers history, retired from the team on April 20th, 2018. He finished his Blazers career with 1,244 points and 858 rebounds. Mincy was drafted by the Blazers in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft.

He made his professional debut with the team in the 2005-06 season. Mincy was a key part of the Blazers' postseason runs in the 2009 and 2013 NBA Playoffs. 

He averaged 20.5 points and 10.9 rebounds in the playoffs. Mincy was named to the All-Defensive First Team in 2013.

He also won a gold medal with Puerto Rico at the Pan American Games in Havana in 1991. In 2018, Mincy was named the recipient of the Maurice Podoloff Award, which is given annually to the player who "best exemplifies the spirit and character of the Portland Trail Blazers." 

After retiring from the Blazers, Mincy signed a one-day contract with the team so he could retire as a Blazer.

George Conditt IV is a 22-year-old Puerto Rican forward playing in the Greek Basket League for Promitheas Patras. He was selected with the 33rd overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies but did not sign.

Conditt played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns. He averaged 15.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 38.4 minutes per game over his three seasons with the Longhorns.

 Conditt was a member of the Puerto Rican national team that competed in the 2017 FIBA World Cup.

He averaged 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 11.8 minutes per game over five tournament games. Conditt was arrested on September 25, 2017, after a traffic stop in Austin, Texas. 

He was charged with possession of a destructive device and was freed on $30,000 bond. The charges were later dropped.

Conditt was waived by the Grizzlies on October 14, 2017. On October 29, he was granted a leave of absence from Prometheas Patras. 

On November 5, 2017, Conditt was arrested again in Austin, this time for allegedly making a bomb threat. He was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 5.

Conditt was waived by the Grizzlies on December 7, 2017. On January 26, 2018, Conditt was signed by the Rio Naturals of the G-League. Conditt was waived by the Rio Naturals on February 22, 2018.

Romero has represented Puerto Rico at the international level, most notably at the qualifiers for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. 

Romero is listed at 6' 9" and 220 pounds and is considered a power forward or center. Romero has signed a one-year contract with French team Limoges CSP for the 2017–2018 season.

Romero has been a part of the Puerto Rican national team since 2016. Romero is a fan favorite in his home country, and is considered one of the best players to never play in the NBA.

Dalmau retired from playing in 1985 and became the head coach of the Puerto Rico National Team. Dalmau has been a commentator for NBA on TNT since 2013.

Raymond Dalmau was a key player on four consecutive Puerto Rican National Basketball Association (BNL) championship teams (1970-77). 

He was named BSN MVP in 1968 and 1969 and scored over 21,000 points in his career. Dalmau was a three-time Pan American Games gold medalist (1979, 1971, 1975).

After retiring from playing basketball, he served as an assistant coach for the Puerto Rican national team. Raymond Dalmau was inducted into the BSN Hall of Fame in 1992.

Raymond Dalmau passed away in 2004 at the age of 60. He was a coach and scout for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Raymond Dalmau is a member of the Puerto Rican Sports Hall of Fame. Raymond Dalmau is a beloved figure in Puerto Rico and was awarded the Order of Distinction by the Government of Puerto Rico in 2010.

David Huertas was born on June 2, 1987 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Huertas played high school basketball at Colegio Bautista in Puerto Rico before attending Miami Christian School and then Arlington Country Day School.

Huertas played college basketball at Florida and Ole Miss. Huertas was undrafted in the 2009 NBA draft but has since played in the NBA for the Miami Heat, the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Dallas Mavericks. Huertas is currently a shooting guard for the Mavericks.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 1985 NBA draft and played for them for four seasons before joining the Utah Jazz in 1989.

Morales is currently a commentator for the Puerto Rican television network Telemundo. Mario Morales was a successful player in the Men’s Basketball League (BSN) during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

During his career, Morales won three BSN championships (1980, 1982, and 1989) and was twice named the league’s Most Valuable Player. He also won two BSN scoring titles (1980 and 1993).

Federico Lopez was a two-time BSN champion and a key player on Puerto Rican teams that won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Havana in 1991 and the gold medal at the World Championships in Indianapolis in 1987. Lopez was an excellent rebounder and passer and was known for his toughness and leadership.

He played in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics before retiring in 1993. Lopez is a member of the Puerto Rican Basketball Hall of Fame.

Alex Franklin is a Puerto Rican professional basketball player who has played in Spain and in the NBA. Franklin was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the 2010 NBA draft but was never signed.

Franklin has averaged 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in his career. Franklin was drafted by the Indios de Mayagüez in 2012. He had a successful debut season, winning the BSN Finals MVP. Franklin was also named to the MAAC All-Conference First Team.
