The Northwestern Wildcats football team is one of the premier college football programs in the United States. Representing Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, they compete in the Big Ten Conference of the NCAA’s Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The team has a long and storied history, with their first game taking place in 1882.

Throughout their history, the Wildcats have made several major bowl appearances, including the Rose Bowl in 1995, and have won several conference championships. The current head coach is Pat Fitzgerald, who is entering his 15th season at the helm.

With his guidance, the Wildcats have become a consistent presence in the Big Ten championship hunt and have established themselves as one of the top teams in the nation.

Otto Graham was a Hall of Fame quarterback who played 14 seasons in the NFL. He is best known for his time with the Cleveland Browns, where he led them to back-to-back championships in 1948 and 1949.

After retiring as a player, Graham served as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (1961–1965) and Buffalo Bills (1966). He also worked as a broadcaster for CBS Sports from 1966 until his death in 2003. In 1999, Otto Graham was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Otto Graham was one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history. He won four championships with the Cleveland Browns and was named MVP twice. Graham also played for Washington, Coast Guard, and the Bears before retiring in 1968. 

His touchdown-to-interception ratio is among the best ever, with a career average of 22 touchdowns to just six interceptions.

He is credited with revolutionizing pro football by leading his teams to unprecedented levels of success on both offense and defense simultaneously.

2. Rashawn Slater

Rashawn Slater was born on March 26, 1999 in Sugar Land, Texas. He attended Clements High School where he played football and baseball. Slater then attended Northwestern where he played for the Wildcats from 2017 to 2020.

In his final season at Northwestern, Slater was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back prospect. 

The Los Angeles Chargers selected Rashawn Slater with their first pick (#13) in the 2021 NFL Draft and he signed with them shortly thereafter.

As a rookie tackles for the Chargers, Slater is expected to play an important role on offense alongside of veteran players such as Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon Jr. 

Rashawn Slater was drafted by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played college football at LSU and won a national championship with them in 2020.

Slater has started 19 games for the Chargers over two seasons, recording 193 tackles and one interception. The 24-year-old is an excellent run defender who makes a lot of plays on defense both against the run and as a pass rusher off the edge.

Clayton Thorson was born on June 15, 1995 in Wheaton, Illinois. He attended Wheaton North High School and played football for the Wildcats. In 2014, he entered Northwestern University and played quarterback for the Wildcats before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019.

He has also been a member of the Dallas Cowboys (2019-2020) and Houston Gamblers (2018). Thorson had a solid collegiate career at Northwestern, culminating in being named third-team All-Big Ten in 2017. He was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has started three games for them this season.

Thorson is known as an accurate passer who can make plays with his legs as well.

Ron Burton was a running back who played in the NFL, AFL and CFL. He was drafted by the NFL's Cleveland Browns in 1960, and played for the team until 1971.

Burton played for the Oakland Raiders and the Boston Patriots in the AFL, and the Edmonton Eskimos and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL. He is best known for his time with the Cleveland Browns, where he was a three-time Pro Bowler and twice led the team in rushing yards.

Burton died in 2003 at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer. Ron Burton is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Burton was a consensus first-team All-American in 1959. He was twice named First-team All-Big Ten. Burton played for the Boston Patriots in the AFL.

He ranks eighth all-time in career rushing yards. Burton is a member of the Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor. Burton was inducted into the Boston Patriots Hall of Fame in 2002. Burton was a finalist for the Walter Camp Award in 1959. Burton was a member of the U.S. Olympic Team in 1960.

Walker was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He played college football at Northwestern and was a two-year starter.

Walker has played for the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns in the NFL. He is considered to be a linebacker with a lot of potential. Walker is 27 years old and stands at 6 feet 1 inch tall.

Anthony Walker Jr. is an active player in the NFL and has made an impact in his career. Walker has been a three-time second-team All-Big Ten player and was a consensus first-team All-American in 2015.

Walker has had a successful career with the Chicago Bears and has racked up 459 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 13 pass deflections. Walker is entering the final year of his contract with the Bears and will be looking to continue his success in the NFL.

Trevor Siemian was drafted in the 7th round by the Denver Broncos in 2015. Siemian started his career with the Denver Broncos before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2018.

Siemian is expected to start for the Tennessee Titans in 2020. Siemian has had mixed success in the NFL, but has shown flashes of brilliance. Siemian is a talented passer who can make all the throws.

Siemian is a gritty competitor who never gives up. Siemian is a smart player who has a good head on his shoulders. Siemian is a natural leader who inspires his teammates. Siemian is a hard worker who puts in the extra effort.

Trevor Siemian had a decent season in Denver, but will likely not return in 2019. Siemian is a backup quarterback and will likely be the starter for the Chicago Bears in 2020. Siemian has some experience in the NFL, but will likely need time to develop in Chicago.

Siemian is a good passer and should be able to have success in the NFL. Siemian is not a great runner and will likely need to be protected in the NFL.

Austin Carr was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2017 NFL Draft. Carr played for the New Orleans Saints in 2017 and 2018. He was released by the Saints in May of 2020.

Carr signed with the New England Patriots again in November of 2020. Carr has appeared in 41 games in his career, including 10 starts. He has recorded 215 receptions for 2,919 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Carr is a wide receiver who primarily plays on the outside. He is a physical player who is known for his speed and strength. Carr is a dependable receiver who is frequently targeted by the Patriots. Austin Carr is a talented receiver who was a second-team All-American in 2016.

Carr is coming off a strong season in which he caught 133 passes for 1,393 yards and three touchdowns. Carr is a versatile receiver who can also contribute on special teams. 

Carr has potential to be a top receiver in the NFL. Carr is entering the prime of his career and should continue to develop in the near future.

Dean Lowry was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Lowry played college football at Northwestern, where he was a three-year starter.

Lowry has appeared in 36 games with the Packers, making 22 starts. Lowry has recorded 97 tackles (59 solo), 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Lowry is expected to start at defensive end for the Packers in 2017.

Dean Lowry is an experienced linebacker who has played in the NFL for over two seasons. Lowry has had a successful career in the NFL, winning Second-team All-Big Ten accolades in his sophomore season and recording 252 tackles, 15.5 sacks, 16 pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

Lowry has also been successful in the NFL statistic leagues, with a 98.2 rating in PFR and an interception in his lone season. Overall, Lowry is a very productive linebacker who has had a lot of success in the NFL.

Darnell Autry was a running back for the Chicago Bears from 1997 to 2001. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro. Autry was drafted by the Bears in the fourth round of the 1997 NFL draft.

He played for the team for six seasons before being traded to the Washington Redskins in 2001. Autry finished his career with 1,032 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. After his playing days were over, Autry became a television commentator and NFL analyst.

Cofield was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He would play for the team from 2006 to 2010. Cofield played in all 16 games for the Giants in 2006, recording seven tackles and one sack.

He was a part of the Giants team that went to the playoffs that year. In 2007, Cofield played in all 16 games and recorded 31 tackles and one sack. He was again a part of the Giants team that made it to the playoffs.

In 2008, Cofield played in all 16 games and recorded 33 tackles and one sack. The Giants were unable to make it to the playoffs that year. In 2009, Cofield played in all 16 games and recorded 36 tackles and one sack. He was a part of the Giants team that made it to the Super Bowl that year.

The Giants lost to the New England Patriots. In 2010, Cofield played in all 16 games and recorded one sack. The Giants were unable to make it to the playoffs that year. Cofield signed with the Washington Redskins in 2011 and played in all 16 games for them that year, recording 38 tackles and one sack.

Cofield signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012 and played in all 16 games for them that year, recording 21 tackles and one sack. Cofield signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013 and played in all 16 games for them that year, recording six tackles and one sack. 

Cofield signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2014 and played in all 16 games for them that year, recording 12 tackles and one sack.

Mike Kafka has a Master's degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is passionate about helping others learn to code and is frequently involved in teaching workshops and seminars. In his free time, Mike Kafka enjoys playing tennis, reading and listening to music.

Vitale was a fullback for Northwestern and was drafted by the Buccaneers in the sixth round in the 2016 NFL Draft. Vitale made his NFL debut in the 2016 season and played in eight games.

Vitale played for the Buccaneers in the 2017 season but was waived in August. Vitale was signed by the Cleveland Browns in September and has played in all 16 games this season. Vitale has been a key player for the Browns and has scored two touchdowns.

Vitale is a fullback and has played in that position for most of his NFL career. Vitale was born in Wheaton, Illinois, in 1993. Vitale has played for the Buccaneers, Browns, and Giants in his career. Vitale is a talented fullback who has been a key player for the Browns this season.

Vitale has been with the Bills, Buccaneers, and Browns during his three-year NFL career. He has 15 receptions for 145 yards and no touchdowns in his career. 

Vitale is a blocking fullback who is not known for his rushing ability. Vitale should have a nice career in the NFL as a blocking fullback who catches passes and doesn't put up too many rushing yards.

13. Damian Anderson

Damien Anderson was a three-time All-Big Ten running back for Northwestern. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2002 and played for the team for two seasons.

Anderson signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2004 and played for them for four seasons. He was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008 and played for them for three seasons. Anderson signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2011 and played for them for two seasons.

He was signed by the Chicago Bears in 2013 and played for them for two seasons. Anderson retired from football in 2016. He founded The Damien Anderson Foundation in 2017 to help children in need. Damien Anderson was inducted into the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.

Damian Anderson was a consensus All-American and first-team All-Big Ten player at the University of Michigan. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played for the Cardinals from 2002 to 2005, and then for the Edmonton Eskimos in 2007.

He was a member of the Cardinals' 2002 Super Bowl team. Anderson was voted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

Campbell was promoted to the active roster of the Titans on November 3rd and played in their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars the following day. Campbell was waived by the Titans on November 17th and was then signed to the Colts' practice squad.

Mike Adamle is a retired professional American football player who played running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins.

Adamle was born on October 4, 1949, in Moline, Illinois. He played high school football at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Moline, Illinois, and later attended Northwestern University.

Adamle was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 1971 NFL Draft. He played for the Redskins from 1971 to 1978, and later played for the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Adamle retired from professional football in 1988. Adamle has since worked as a television commentator and sportscaster. He was the General Manager of WWE's Raw brand from 2008 to 2010. Adamle was inducted into the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.

Odenigbo was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut in Week 3 of the 2018 season, recording four tackles and one sack. Odenigbo signed with the Cleveland Browns in May 2018, but was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in August.

He played in 10 games for the Cardinals in 2018, recording 21 tackles and one sack. Odenigbo is scheduled to return to the Vikings in 2020. Fred Williamson is an actor, film director and producer who has been active in the entertainment industry for more than fifty years. Williamson is best known for his roles in The Exorcist and Deliverance, among many other films.

He has also directed and produced a number of films, most notably The Dukes of Hazzard. Williamson was married for a short time to actress Ginette Lavonda and has since been married to Linda. Williamson has two children, a son and a daughter, from his previous marriages.

Williamson was a defensive back for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders during the 1960s. He was drafted by the Steelers in 1960, but did not make the team. 

He played for the Raiders from 1961 to 1964, and then for the Chiefs from 1965 to 1967. He was a three-time All-American and two-time Pro Bowler. Williamson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1986. He died in 2007 at the age of 71.

Brett Basanez was undrafted in 2006, but he did play for the Carolina Panthers for two seasons. Basanez started 14 games for the Panthers in 2006, completing 57.2% of his passes for 2,660 yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He also rushed for 108 yards on 26 carries. In 2007, Basanez started all 16 games for Carolina and completed 58.5% of his passes for 3,836 yards with 24 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

 He also rushed for 209 yards on 50 carries. Basanez was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2008, and he started all 16 games for the Bears that season.

Basanez completed 60.5% of his passes for 4,086 yards with 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for 242 yards on 58 carries. Basanez was released by the Bears in 2010. 

After playing in the NFL for three seasons, Brett Basanez is now a college football coach. He was the quarterbacks coach at Northwestern from 2013 to 2016. Brett Basanez is married and has two children.

D'Wayne Bates was a wide receiver for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings during his professional career. Bates was born in Aiken, South Carolina, in 1975.

He attended Northwestern University, where he played football and received his degree in 1997. Bates was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft.

He played for the Bears from 1999 to 2001, and then the Minnesota Vikings from 2002 to 2003. After his NFL career, Bates worked as a football analyst for Fox Sports. He is married and has two children.

Bates is currently retired from professional football, but he regularly participates in charity events. D'Wayne Bates is a member of the Northwestern University alumni association. D'Wayne Bates had an impressive college career, catching 80 passes for 1,061 yards and six touchdowns.

Bates was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Bates has appeared in 36 games over three seasons with the Buccaneers, but has not recorded a reception.

Fitzgerald was an assistant coach at Maryland from 1999 to 2000, Colorado from 2000 to 2001, and Idaho from 2001 to 2002. Fitzgerald became the head coach at Northwestern in 2013. In his first season, he led the Wildcats to a 10–3 record and a berth in the Big Ten Championship Game.

Fitzgerald's coaching record at Northwestern is 110–101. He has led the Wildcats to two bowl appearances, including a victory in the 2015 Outback Bowl. Fitzgerald is paid $5.75 million annually as the head coach of Northwestern. Fitzgerald was born in 1974 and played football at Northwestern from 1993 to 1996.

Bentley was a linebacker for the Houston Texans from 2002 to 2006. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Texans. Bentley started 95 games in his career with the Texans.

He was a member of the Texans' 2003 and 2004 AFC South division champions. Bentley signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2007, but was released in August of that year. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008, but was released in March of that year.

Bentley signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009, but was released in August of that year. He signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2010, but was released in September of that year. Bentley signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011, but was released in December of that year.

Bentley played for the Cleveland Browns (2002-2004) and Seattle Seahawks (2005-2007). He was a part of the Texans (2008-2010) and Chargers (2011) before joining the Jaguars (2011) in the offseason. 

Bentley has played in 41 games and has tallied 415 tackles and 1.0 sacks. Bentley is a versatile player who has played at linebacker and safety.

His best season came in 2007 when he tallied 102 tackles and two interceptions. Bentley is a hard-nosed player who is always hustling on the field.

Alf Bauman was a standout lineman at Austin High School in Chicago. He then attended Northwestern and played college football there before being drafted by the NFL in 1942.

Bauman spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears and became a fan favorite. He was released by the team in 1946 and spent the next three seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Bauman returned to the Bears in 1950 and played until his retirement in 1960.

He was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 1950s. Bauman was a long-time member of the Chicago Bears Alumni Association and was inducted into the Chicago Bears Hall of Fame in 1978. 

Bauman died of a heart attack in 1980 at the age of 60. Alf Bauman was a standout cornerback at the University of Illinois and was drafted in the fourth round of the 1947 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bauman played for the Eagles for four seasons before being traded to the Chicago Rockets in 1950. He played for the Rockets for two seasons before being traded to the Chicago Bears in 1952. 

Bauman played for the Bears for four seasons before retiring in 1956. Bauman was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1982. Alf Bauman died in 2006.

He was a two-time All-Pro and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987. Burman is also a member of the NFL Alumni Association and the Northwestern Sports Hall of Fame. He currently resides in suburban Detroit and is the head coach of the Whiting High School football team.

Burman is a beloved figure in the Detroit area and is greatly respected for his work in the NFL. George Burman was an All-Pro safety for the Washington Redskins in the early 1970s. 

Burman was a three-time Pro Bowler and a member of the Redskins' Super Bowl-winning team in 1973. After a successful NFL career, Burman went on to a successful career in coaching, most notably as the head coach at the University of Utah from 1994 to 1998.

George Burman was born on October 10, 1945, in Chicago. After a successful career in the NFL, Burman went on to have a successful coaching career, most notably as the head coach at the University of Utah from 1994 to 1998. George Burman passed away on November 9, 2013, at the age of 71.

Cas Banaszek was a tackle for the San Francisco 49ers from 1968-1977. Banaszek was drafted in the first round of the 1967 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Banaszek was a three-time All-Pro tackle and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984.

Banaszek is currently the co-owner of the Banaszek's Bar and Grill in Santa Clara, California. Banaszek was born on October 6, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. Banaszek died on January 10, 2009 in Santa Clara, California after a long battle with cancer. Banaszek was married to his wife, Kathy, for over 40 years.

Banaszek had two daughters, Laura and Kelly. Banaszek is survived by his wife, Kathy, and daughters, Laura and Kelly.

He played for the Argos for eleven seasons, retiring in 1977. McCambridge was a two-time All-Star and was named the CFL's Most Valuable Player in 1969. He is also a two-time Grey Cup champion, winning with Toronto in 1970 and Winnipeg in 1972.

McCambridge was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1984. He currently resides in Klamath Falls, Oregon. John McCambridge was born on August 30, 1944 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. 

He is 78 years old and retired from football. John McCambridge played football at Oregon State before being drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the first round of the 1967 CFL Draft.

McCambridge played for the Argos for eleven seasons and retired in 1977. McCambridge was a two-time All-Star and was named the CFL's Most Valuable Player in 1969.

He then signed with the Dallas Cowboys and played for them for one season. He then retired from the NFL. He now works as a safety coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Harold Blackmon was a defensive back with the Seattle Seahawks from 2001-2002.

He started in only one game during his tenure with the Seahawks, but collected three tackles and one pass deflection. Blackmon is most notable for his time with the Cleveland Browns, where he played from 1999-2002. He was a key player on the Browns' 1999 and 2002 Super Bowl-winning teams.

Blackmon was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played college football at Louisiana-Lafayette. Blackmon is a two-time All-Pro selection and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2002. He is currently a free agent and is reportedly considering offers from the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints.

Jeremy Ebert was a career NFL receiver for the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Patriots.

Doug Asad was born on August 27, 1938 in Fairview Park, Ohio. He attended Fairview High School and Northwestern where he played football and basketball.

Asad played in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and Cincinnati Bengals. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987. Asad is a businessman and philanthropist.

He owns the Asad Group, which is a real estate development company. Asad is married to his wife, Sally. They have two children. Asad is a devout Christian. He has served as the President of the Cleveland Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as a trustee of the Cleveland Clinic.

Asad is a member of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. Doug Asad was an all-around contributor for the Oakland Raiders during their first two seasons in the NFL.

Jim Lash was a prolific wide receiver in the NFL for over 20 years. Lash was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 1973 draft, and spent his first four years with the team before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1977.

He spent his final ten years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers. Lash was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. Lash died on May 31, 2019 at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer.

Lash played for the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers in the 1970s. He was a reliable receiver, catching 91 passes for 1464 yards and four touchdowns. Lash later had a successful coaching career, coaching the Minnesota Vikings from 2003 to 2007.

Stonesifer was a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro. He retired from the NFL in 1963. Stonesifer later served as an assistant coach for the Eagles and the Chicago Bears. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978. Stonesifer died on October 15, 2021 at the age of 94.

He was a fixture in the Bears' locker room for more than 60 years. Don Stonesifer was a standout linebacker at Chicago Schurz High School and Northwestern. He was drafted in the third round by the Cardinals in 1951 and played for them for six seasons. Stonesifer was a 3-time All-Pro and 2-time Pro Bowler.

He played in the 1956 NFL Championship game and was named MVP. After his playing career was over, Stonesifer became a television commentator and coached linebackers for the Cardinals and the Bears. Stonesifer was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. He died in 2014 at the age of 80.

Jack Riley was a standout tackle at Northwestern University, and after graduating in 1931, he signed with the Chicago Bears. Riley was a part of the Bears' 1933 and 1934 championship teams, and he was also a member of the NFL's All-Pro team in 1935.

After leaving the Bears, Riley played for the Green Bay Packers and then the Cleveland Browns. Riley retired from professional football in 1949, and he later worked as a wrestling coach at Northwestern and at other schools. Jack Riley was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.

He died in 1993 at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Jack Riley was a pioneer in professional football, and his influence is still felt today. Riley was a quarterback at the University of Michigan from 1935-1937. 

He led the Wolverines to a share of the national championship in 1935 and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Rose Bowl that year. Riley then played for the Boston Redskins in the NFL from 1937-1941. He was named to the All-America Team in 1941 and led the Redskins to their first NFL championship in 1941. 

After his playing days, Riley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later became the head coach at the University of Tulsa from 1947-1951 and then at the University of Oregon from 1951-1955.

Riley was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1978. He died in 1987.
