The Milwaukee Wave is an American professional indoor soccer team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that has been entertaining fans since 1984. As the oldest continuously operating professional soccer team in the United States, they have earned seven league championships, including the 2018–19 Major Arena Soccer League title. With their vibrant black and yellow colors, the Wave can be seen bringing excitement and high-level competition to the UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena every game.

Ian Bennett is a Canadian midfielder who currently plays for the Milwaukee Wave in the NWSL. Bennett played college soccer at Marian Knights and helped the team to a national title in 2003.

Bennett has also represented Canada at the international level and played in the 2006 World Cup. Bennett is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions. Bennett is a hard worker who is always looking to improve his game.

Marcio Leite started his career at hometown club Aracaju in Brazil. He then played for Joinville and Botafogo in his homeland before moving to Europe in 2007.

Marcio Leite spent three seasons with French side Lille before joining Queens Park Rangers in 2011. He made over 100 appearances for QPR before moving to Newcastle United in 2015.

He spent two seasons with Newcastle United before joining Middlesbrough in 2018. Marcio Leite has represented Brazil at international level on 25 occasions. He finished his Middlesbrough career with two seasons at Aston Villa.

Marcio Leite has recently retired from professional football, but remains a regular in the Brazilian national team setup. Marcio Leite is a versatile defender or midfielder who is known for his strong aerial ability and excellent passing.

Josh Lemos is a goalkeeper for the Milwaukee Wave in the NWSL. Lemos was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada on May 4, 1989. Lemos started playing soccer at a young age and enjoyed playing for the local club team.

In 2009, Lemos attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he played for the Cal Golden Bears. Lemos made his professional debut with the Wave in 2013. Josh has represented Canada at both U-20 and U-23 levels.

Keith Tozer was born on April 4, 1957, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He played college football at Oneonta State. Keith Tozer signed with the Cincinnati Kids in 1979 and also played for the Pennsylvania Stoners that year.

Keith Tozer retired from football in 1980. Keith Tozer is currently a real estate agent in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Keith Tozer has two children. Keith Tozer has been married to his wife since 1978. Keith Tozer is a fan of the Detroit Lions.

Keith Tozer is a 1965 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School. Keith Tozer is best known as the manager of the Milwaukee Wave.

Steve Morris is a former Scottish footballer who played as a forward and midfielder. Morris made his professional debut with Hamilton Steelers in 1991 and went on to play for several other teams in the United States and Scotland.

Morris retired from professional football in 2001, having made 21 appearances for Hamilton Steelers. Morris has since worked as a football coach and manager, most notably with the Syracuse Orange and Hamilton Steelers academies. 

Morris has been described as "a skillful and industrious player", and was known for his hard work and passing ability.

Victor Nogueira is a 63-year-old goalkeeper who played for Rangers in the Scottish Premier League. He was born in Maputo, Mozambique, and started playing football at a young age.

Nogueira made his professional debut with Rangers in 1980 and went on to make over 300 appearances for the club. 

He won two Scottish Premier League titles with Rangers, and also played in the UEFA Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, and the European Super Cup.

Nogueira retired from football in 2001 and later became a football coach. He is currently the head coach of the Mozambique national team. 

Victor Nogueira is one of the most successful goalkeepers in Scottish football history and is considered one of the greats of the game.

Giuliano Oliviero is a former professional footballer who played as a defender. Giuliano Oliviero is a Canadian international who has represented his country at various levels, including the senior team.

Giuliano Oliviero started his professional career with the Edmonton Brick Men in 1990. After playing for several other clubs in North America, Giuliano Oliviero moved to the UK to play for the London Lasers in 1993.

Pikuzinski started his career as a forward with Buffalo White Eagles. He then moved to Midfielder and played for the New England Revolution and the Colorado Rapids.

Pikuzinski retired in 2006 after spending his last years with the Chicago Fire. Pikuzinski is a two-time MLS All-Star and has won two U.S. Open Cups with Chicago Fire.

He is currently the Director of Soccer Operations for the Montreal Impact. Pikuzinski is married with two children. Pikuzinski is a U.S. citizen and speaks English, French, and Polish.

Pikuzinski is a motivational speaker and has worked with children with autism. Pikuzinski is considered one of the greatest players in MLS history. 

Randy Pikuzinski was a forward for the Buffalo Stallions and Buffalo Storm in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Pikuzinski's best years were with the Invaders, where he averaged over 16 goals per season. Pikuzinski played in the American Indoor Soccer Association (AISA) and the National Professional Soccer League (NPFL) before retiring in 2001. 

Pikuzinski is currently the head coach of the Buffalo Blizzard women's team. Pikuzinski is a two-time indoor champion with the Blizzard.

Rudy Pena is a former American professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Pena played for Dallas Oak Cliff Pirates in his youth career, before making his senior debut with the club in 1976.

He spent the majority of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing in over 200 matches. After retiring from football, Pena began working as a football coach. He has also been a commentator for American television networks.

Pena was named to the National Football League's All-Decade Team for the 1990s. In 2017, he was inducted into the Dallas Sports Hall of Fame. 

Pena is married and has three children. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas. Rudy Pena was born in the Dallas area in 1981.

He played for the Dallas Tornado for three seasons from 1983 to 1986. He was a member of the United States U-19 national team that competed in the 1985 FIFA World Youth Championship.

After leaving the Tornado, Rudy Pena played for the Milwaukee Wave of the indoor American Professional Soccer League from 1987 to 1988.

He then signed with the Spanish club Real Murcia in 1988, where he played for two seasons. Rudy Pena then moved to the Dutch club Roda JC where he played for two seasons. 

He then played for the Mexican club Toluca for two seasons before returning to the United States in 2001 to play for the Tampa Bay Mutiny. 

Rudy Pena retired from professional football in 2003. He has since worked as a soccer coach, most notably with the Dallas Texans youth team.

Tim Alioto is a retired American defender who played for the San Jose Earthquakes and the MetroStars. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, and played college soccer at Indiana University.

He made his professional debut in 1980 with the San Jose Earthquakes and went on to play for the MetroStars, the Chicago Fire, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. 

He was a member of the U.S. national team and made 64 appearances, scoring one goal. He retired in 2001 after playing with the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

He was inducted into the Indiana University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He currently works as a soccer analyst for Fox Sports. 

Tim Alioto is a former professional soccer player who played for the Milwaukee Bavarians and Milwaukee Wave.

He was also a member of the Milwaukee Serbians. Alioto played his entire career in the United States. He played for three different clubs in the Milwaukee area. 

Alioto was a midfielder who was known for his strong passing and ball control. He was also a quick player who was able to make quick decisions on the field.

Alioto was a two-time All-Star and two-time MVP of the American Soccer League. He was also a three-time winner of the ASL Most Valuable Player award. 

Alioto retired from professional soccer in 1993. He later became a soccer coach and has led teams to championships in both the United States and Europe.

Carlos Contreras was born on September 6th, 1991 in Comayagua, Honduras. He began his youth career with St. Croix Red Devils, before playing college soccer at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Carlos Contreras is a midfielder who is often used as a deep-lying playmaker. He has made 36 appearances for the Honduran national team and was part of the team that reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Carlos Contreras is looking to continue his national team career by qualifying for the World Cup in Russia.

Max Ferdinand was born in Haiti and moved to the United States when he was just a baby. Ferdinand played college soccer at the University of Maryland. He played for the Baltimore Blast in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Ferdinand has also played for Miami FC, Fort Lauderdale Strikers, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. 

He has played in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Ferdinand has also played for the Haiti national team. He is currently a forward for the Baltimore Blast.

Ferdinand is a 25-year-old American soccer player who plays for the Milwaukee Wave in the indoor division of the United States Soccer League.

He has made 124 appearances for the Blast, 97 of which have been as a starter. Ferdinand has also spent time with the Baltimore Blast and Rochester Rhinos in the United Soccer League. 

He has scored two goals in 25 appearances for the Rhinos and ten goals in 21 appearances for the Wave. Ferdinand has represented the United States at the youth international level, playing for the Under-17, Under-20, and Under-23 teams.

He has made nine appearances for the U.S. national team, all of which have come as a starter. Ferdinand is a hard-working and composed defender who is always looking to make a contribution to his team.

Chamale played four seasons of college soccer at Humber College in Toronto, where he was a two-time CIS All-Canadian and helped the Hawks to the national championship in his final season.

Chamale was drafted in the second round (38th overall) of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew, but he failed to make an appearance for the Crew and was loaned out to the Montreal Impact for the 2015 season.

Chamale made his professional debut for Montreal in a 1-1 draw against D.C. United on April 7, 2015. Chamale was waived by Montreal at the end of the season and signed with Toronto FC on November 10, 2015. 

Chamale made his Toronto FC debut in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire on April 6, 2016. Chamale was named to the Canadian national team roster for the first time in November 2016 and made his debut in a 1-1 draw against El Salvador on November 15. 

Chamale was part of the Toronto FC team that won the MLS Cup in December 2017. Chamale was named to the MLS Best XI for the 2017 season. Chamale is currently a defender for Toronto FC.

Todd Dusosky was born on May 12, 1976, in Anoka, Minnesota. He played college basketball at Viterbo University from 1994 to 1998. Dusosky was a forward and he had a total of 179 career points.

Dusosky was signed by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1998 and he played for them for two seasons. He then moved to the Seattle SuperSonics and he played for them for one season. Dusosky then played for the Dallas Mavericks for one season.

He then played for the Cleveland Cavaliers for one season. Dusosky retired from professional basketball in 2002. Todd Dusosky is now a basketball coach.

Jimmy Banks was a defender who played for several clubs during his career, most notably Manchester United, Swansea City, and West Bromwich Albion. Banks was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States, and began his career playing for the local side Milwaukee Wave.

He made his professional debut for Manchester United in 1985 and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club. Banks transferred to Swansea City in 1997 and helped the club to win the Welsh Cup in his first season with the club. 

He joined West Bromwich Albion in 2001 and helped the club to win the League Cup in his first season with the club.

Banks retired from football in 2007, after playing his last game for West Bromwich Albion. Banks died on April 26, 2019, aged 54. Banks was a professional indoor soccer player who played for the Milwaukee Wave from 1987-1993. 

Banks also played for the United States national team from 1986-1991, amassing 36 international appearances. Banks is currently the managing director of Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Greg Howes was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1977. He played college soccer at Oregon State, where he was a two-time All-American. Greg joined the Seattle Sounders in 2000 and helped the team win the MLS Cup that season.

He retired from professional soccer in 2003. Greg is currently a defensive midfielder for the Seattle Sounders reserves. Greg has been married to his wife, Ashley, since 2002. Greg and Ashley have two children. 

Greg is a passionate supporter of his home-state team, the Tacoma Sounders, and also enjoys golfing and fishing.

He most recently managed the Las Vegas Legends in the indoor league. Howes has also managed the Milwaukee Wave in both indoor and outdoor leagues.

He has a wealth of experience in the sport, having coached at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels. Howes is a highly respected figure in the US soccer community. He has also worked as an assistant coach for the United States men's national team.

George Pastor is a forward who played for many teams during his career, most notably Barcelona and Inter Milan. Pastor has won several titles, including the 1994-95 UEFA Cup with Barcelona and the 1998-99 Serie A with Inter Milan.

Peter Knezic was born in 1959 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin. He was drafted in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft by the Milwaukee Panthers.

He played for the Panthers for two seasons before moving to the Baltimore Colts in 1982. He played for the Colts for four seasons before moving to the San Francisco 49ers in 1986. He played for the 49ers for four seasons before moving to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1991.

He played for the Eagles for four seasons before moving to the Dallas Cowboys in 1995. He played for the Cowboys for four seasons before retiring in 1999. 

He was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Knezic has a long and successful career in the sport of basketball.

Stephen DeRoux is a defender/left winger who played for Prince George's Owls from 2002 to 2004. DeRoux was a two-time All-American and helped lead Prince George's to the 2003 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.

He was drafted in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire but never played for them. DeRoux has played for the New England Revolution, Houston Dynamo, and Portland Timbers in the past. DeRoux was named to the All-Star team in 2014 and 2015.

He has represented Jamaica at the U-20 and U-23 levels. DeRoux is currently playing for the Portland Timbers.

Loftin was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the seventh round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He played two seasons with the Capitals, before spending a year with the Memphis Grizzlies.

He then signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and spent twelve seasons with the team. Loftin was a key player for the Flyers during their run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006 and was also a member of the team that reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2010.

He retired from professional ice hockey in 2016, after playing his last game for the Flyers AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. 

Brian Loftin is now a color commentator with the Flyers' television broadcasts. He was named as the Flyers' alternate captain for the 2017–18 season.

Joe Reiniger is a forward who played college soccer at SIU Edwardsville. Reiniger was a four-year starter for the Cougars, and he helped lead SIU Edwardsville to two conference championships and one NCAA tournament appearance.

After graduating from SIU Edwardsville, Reiniger played two seasons in the MLS with the Tampa Bay Mutiny and the Kansas City Wizards. 

In 2003, Reiniger signed with the Columbus Crew and helped them win the MLS Cup that year. Reiniger retired from professional soccer in 2005 and now works as a soccer coach at his alma mater, SIU Edwardsville.

Tom Alioto was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1958. He started playing football in the eighth grade and played for the Milwaukee Bavarians in the American Football League (AFL) in the late 1970s.

Alioto played for the Chicago Sting in the National Football League (NFL) from 1980 to 1983. He then played for the Oklahoma City Slickers in the NFL from 1982 to 1984. He moved to the indoor football league, the Kansas City Comets, in 1984.

He played for the Milwaukee Wave from 1985 to 1986. Alioto moved to the National Football League (NFL) in 1987, playing for the Louisville Thunder. 

He played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1990 to 1992 and the San Francisco 49ers from 1993 to 1994.

Alioto retired from playing football in 1994. Tom Alioto was a player and manager in the United States professional soccer leagues. 

A native of Philadelphia, he started his playing career with the Fort Wayne Flames in the indoor leagues. He then moved to the Milwaukee Wave of the indoor leagues, where he spent the majority of his career.

He made one appearance in the National Professional Soccer League with the Chicago Power. Alioto later became an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Rampage and led the team to the 2001 MISL championship. 

He then served as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Wave for two more seasons. In 2006, he became manager of the expansion Harrisburg Heat.

He was fired after the team finished the season with a record of 5-24. Alioto later became the head coach of the Chicago Fire of the MLS.

He played for the Chicago Power of the Indoor Professional Football League from 1991 to 1992 and the Milwaukee Wave of the Indoor Professional Football League from 1991 to 1995. He played for the Raleigh Flyers of the United Soccer League from 1994 to 1995.

Eddie Henderson is a retired American professional soccer player who played as a forward or midfielder. Henderson played for the Seattle Kickers in the USISL and the USL.

Henderson was a two-time NCAA Division I All-American while playing for the Washington Huskies. Henderson was drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the first round of the 1988 MLS College Draft.

Henderson made his professional debut with the Galaxy in 1988. Henderson was a part of the Galaxy team that won the MLS Cup in 1993. 

Henderson retired from professional soccer in 2003. Henderson played for the US national team for eight years, including two World Cups.

Henderson currently works as a color commentator for the Galaxy. Henderson is a veteran player with plenty of experience under his belt. 

Henderson played for the Wichita Wings for a number of years and is now a manager. Henderson is a versatile player, able to play a number of positions on the court.

Henderson is known for his scoring prowess and is a threat from anywhere on the court. Henderson is a good leader on the court and is always willing to lend a helping hand. 

Henderson is a popular player with fans and is always willing to give his all on the court. Henderson is a hard worker and is always looking to improve his game.

Henderson is a true professional and always puts the team first. Henderson is a great ambassador for the game of basketball and is loved by all who know him.

Brian Rowland is a Canadian goalkeeper who played for UMBC Retrievers in college and then in the senior leagues. Rowland was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire.

He made his MLS debut in a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on May 11, 2004. Rowland was limited to just 10 appearances in 2004 due to a knee injury. 

Rowland was traded to the Colorado Rapids in 2006 but was released at the end of the season.

He then played for Toronto FC, Sacramento Republic FC, and Real Monarchs SLC before joining the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2018. 

Rowland made his Rowdies debut on July 15, 2018, in a 2-2 draw against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. He has played in 33 MLS games, scoring 2 goals. Rowland was nominated for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2018.

Joey Kirk was a forward for the California Kickers from 1988-1990. Kirk was drafted by the Wichita Wings in the 8th round of the 1988 NBA Draft. Kirk played for the US national team in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Kirk played for the Toronto Raptors from 1993-1996. Kirk played for the Dallas Mavericks from 1997-1999. Kirk played for the Boston Celtics from 2000-2003. 

Kirk played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 2004-2005. Kirk played for the Memphis Grizzlies from 2006-2007.

Kirk retired in 2007. Joey Kirk was a prolific goal scorer in both indoor and international play. He spent most of his career with the Milwaukee Wave, but also played for the Detroit Rockers and Philadelphia KiXX. 

Joey Kirk was a three-time indoor MVP and led the Philadelphia KiXX to an Indoor Soccer League championship in 1999.

Kirk retired in 2001 after suffering a career-ending knee injury. Joey Kirk was inducted into the United States Men's National Team Hall of Fame in 2011.

Matt Knowles was born on October 7, 1970, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn-Jersey Spirit, where he played defense in 1990 and 1991. He then played for the Illinois Thunder of the Indoor Soccer League in 1992.

He moved to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 1992 and played there until 1993. He then played for the Denver Thunder of the American Professional Soccer League in 1993. He retired from playing in 1994. He has since worked as a coach for the Akron Zips.

He has two sons, one of whom plays for D.C. United. Matt Knowles was inducted into the Philadelphia Soccer Hall of Fame in 2014. 

Matt Knowles was born on October 12, 1973, in England. Knowles played for the Milwaukee Wave in the indoor league from 1993 to 1996.

In 1996, he joined the Tampa Bay Rowdies, but only played nine games before moving to the Cleveland Crunch. 

In 1997, he joined the Philadelphia KiXX, where he played for three seasons. In 1999, he joined the Detroit Rockers of the indoor league. In 2001, he moved to the Harrisburg Heat of the indoor league.

He then played for the Carolina Dynamo in 2002 and the Kansas City Comets in 2003. He retired in 2004. Knowles now works as a coach for the Tottenham Hotspur U-21 team.

Final Words

. . The Milwaukee Wave has had some of the best players in indoor soccer history play for them, including Paul Caligiuri, Jaime Moreno, and Jeff Cunningham.

While there are many great players who have worn the Wave’s green and white, these are some of the best.
