The California Golden Bears are ready to hit the field for the start of the 2023 season. After a successful 2020-21 season, the Golden Bears are looking to build on their success and make a run at the NCAA tournament. With a talented roster of experienced veterans and exciting newcomers, the Golden Bears are poised to make some noise on the field this season.

Bartkowski was a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons from 1975 to 1985. He led the Falcons to their first ever playoff appearance in 1978 and then back-to-back NFC Championship appearances in 1979 and 1980.

Bartkowski also played for the Los Angeles Rams from 1986 to 1987, before retiring after his third season with Chicago Bears. Steve Bartkowski was a four-time Pro Bowler, three-time NFL passer rating leader and two-time PFWA All-Rookie Team selection.

He led the league in passing touchdowns twice and also finished third in yards passed. Steve Bartkowski played his entire career with the Atlanta Falcons, retiring after the 1987 season.

2. Jahvid Best

Jahvid Best was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played for the Lions from 2010 to 2012. Best had a successful career with the Lions, earning two Pro Bowl appearances and being named an All-Pro twice.

After finishing his playing career with the Lions, Best signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in May 2013. In his first season with Philadelphia, he led all running backs in yards gained and touchdowns scored (22).

In 2017, Jahvid Best retired from professional football after sustaining a concussion during training camp that year Jahvid Best is a highly regarded running back prospect who was once considered one of the top players in college football.

He played two seasons at California, where he was named First-team All-Pac-10 and earned MVP honors in the Emerald Bowl as a senior. After going undrafted in 2009, Best signed with the Detroit Lions but failed to make an impact on their roster and was released before the end of the season.

In 2012, Best joined up with Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and led them to victory in their inaugural playoff game against Hamilton Tiger-Cats 37–24. 

The following year, Best again helped lead his team to playoff success after finishing second in the league scoring behind only Edmonton Eskimos’ Darian Durant (1,549 points).

On January 1st of this year, Jahvid best completed his return to NFL competition when he scored four touchdowns on three receptions for 81 yards during a 41–0 win over Cleveland Browns reserves.

Thus becoming just the third player ever (after Randy Moss & Terrell Owens) to record multiple receiving touchdowns and rushing touchdowns within a single game while playing for more than one team during career regular season action.

3. Tarik Glenn

Tarik Glenn is a former NFL offensive tackle who played for the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans. He was drafted in 1997 by the Cleveland Browns and spent his entire career with them before being released in 2013.

Glenn then joined the Jacksonville Jaguars where he played until 2015 when he was released by them as well. He signed with the Tennessee Titans on a one-year deal in 2016 but only made two appearances for them before retiring at the end of that season due to injury.

Glenn was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 1997 and played for them until 2006. He won a Super Bowl with the Colts in 2007, and also earned three Pro Bowl appearances during his career. 

Glenn is currently a commentator for NFL Network's coverage of the league. Tarik Glenn was born on October 10th, 1978 in Norcross, Georgia, and attended Warner Robins High School where he starred as a wide receiver for the War Eagles football team.

DeSean Jackson was born in Los Angeles, California on December 1, 1986. DeSean played college football at California from 2005-2007 and caught 82 passes for 1,332 yards and 15 touchdowns during his tenure.

After playing with the Eagles from 2008-2013, he signed with the Redskins in 2014 where he had a breakout season catching 92 passes for 1,355 yards and five touchdowns. 

He then signed with the Buccaneers in 2017 before joining up with the Eagles again this season.

With 89 catches for 1,332 yards and 10 scores through 14 games this year so far, DeSean is having another impressive NFL career thus far. 

DeSean Jackson is a former professional American football wide receiver. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL).

Jackson was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. After three seasons with Philadelphia, he signed with the Washington Redskins as a free agent in 2012. 

In his six-year career, he has amassed over 10,000 yards receiving and 60 touchdowns. Jackson announced his retirement from professional football on March 21, 2019, after 11 years of playing in the NFL.

Dante Hughes was a cornerback for the Chargers from 2009 to 2011. Dante Hughes is currently a free agent and has been reported to be signing with the Detroit Lions.

Dante Hughes was born in 1985 and played high school football at Los Angeles (CA) Crenshaw before going on to play college football at California. 

In 2007, Dante Hughes was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts but did not make an appearance in any games for them during his two years there before being traded to San Diego Chargers in 2009.

With the Chargers, Dante Hughes made 104 tackles over three seasons before signing with New York Giants as a free agent in 2012 where he spent one year before retiring that same year due to injury.

Dante Hughes was one of the most highly-touted players in college football when he signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2006.

He quickly became a starter and helped lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance that year. After being traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 2008, Dante led the NFC West with 11 interceptions and earned first-team All-Pro honors. 

The next year, he joined the Arizona Cardinals and had another excellent season before announcing his retirement after 10 years in the NFL. Hughes is now a commentator for Fox Sports 1 and has also started up his own training camp preparation business called "Dante's Way." 

A two-time Walter Payton Man of The Year Award finalist, Hughes is considered one of the best safeties ever to play professional football.

O'Callaghan was born in Susanville, California and played high school football at Enterprise. He attended California where he played for the Golden Bears.

O'Callaghan was a three-year starter and two-time All Pac-10 performer as an offensive tackle. In 2006, O'Callaghan was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs fifth round with 136th overall pick in the NFL Draft.

He spent four seasons with the Chiefs before signing with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent in 2011. 

O'Callahan has also been involved with several other teams including Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos during his career but has never made it to a Super Bowl appearance or won any championships despite being considered one of best tackles in league history.

Ryan O'Callaghan was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2006 and played for them until 2008. He then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent two more seasons before retiring in 2011. 

During his time in the NFL, Ryan amassed 51 games played, 20 starts, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception. 

In retirement, Ryan has since become an analyst on ESPN's "NFL Live" and co-hosts a show called "The Rundown" with Adam Schefter airing weekdays from 9am to noon EST on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 122 (SIRIUS: 129).

Ryan is married to former Playboy model Jessie Nelson and they have one child together - a daughter named Reagan Rose born in 2014.

Tyson Alualu was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 NFL Draft after playing college football at California. He spent three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars before signing with the Oakland Raiders in 2018.

Alualu is known for his versatility and strength at the nose tackle position. He has played in 56 games over the course of his career, including 44 starts. Alualu was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and attended Saint Louis School before playing college football at California.

He was part of the Cal Golden Bears team that won the 2009 National Championship. Alualu is a two-time Pro Bowler, and was selected to the All-Pro team in 2016. 

He is a member of the NFL's 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. Alualu is married to Kyla and has two children. Tyson Alualu is a versatile and productive linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Alualu was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Alualu has appeared in 97 games over six seasons, recording 403 tackles, 24.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 14 pass deflections. 

Alualu is a core player for the Steelers, and is expected to be a mainstay in the lineup for many years to come.

Joe Kapp was one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history, playing for five different teams over a twelve-year career. Kapp was a quick and elusive passer who could make any throw in the book.

He led his teams to several playoff appearances and once won the NFL MVP award. Kapp is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Santa Fe High School Hall of Fame. He currently resides in California.

Joe Kapp played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1967-1969 and was a key player on their championship team. After his playing days were over, Joe Kapp became a head coach in the NFL and had success with the California Golden Bears from 1982-1986.

After leaving the NFL, Joe Kapp served as the GM of the Sacramento Attack of the Canadian Football League. Joe Kapp is a two-time Pro Bowler and was inducted into the Vikings Hall of Fame in 1996.

Bryan Anger was born in Camarillo, California, in 1988. He attended high school in Camarillo and played college football at California. Anger was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012, but only played one season with them.

He was then drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2016, but only played one season with them. In 2018, he was signed by the Houston Texans, where he currently plays. Anger has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Anger is currently a punter for the Dallas Cowboys. Anger has averaged 43.8 yards per punt in his career. Anger is considered to be one of the best punters in the NFL. Bryan Anger is a punter for the Arizona Cardinals and was one of the most consistent players in the NFL during the early 2020s.

Anger was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2021. He holds the NFL record for the highest average punting yards by a rookie, with 47.84 yards in 2012.

 Anger has also been a standout on kick returns, with 2,872 yards on 102 returns in his career. He is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and is in the midst of his 11th season in the NFL.

Russell White is a running back who played for the NFL for over two decades. White was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 1993 NFL Draft.

White spent his entire career with the Browns, playing in 145 games. White was a part of the Browns team that made it to the playoffs in both 2002 and 2004. White was signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2007, but only played one game for them.

White retired from the NFL in 2008. White is currently a football coach at a high school in Southern California. White is married and has two children. 

White is a Christian and is involved in ministries outside of football. Russell White was a consensus All-American in 1991 at the University of California.

After being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft, White played for the Rams and Packers over the course of his career.

Vic Bottari was born on December 21, 1916, in Vallejo, California. He began his career as a musician in the late 1930s, playing with various groups before starting his own band, the Four Men.

Bottari's music was often very experimental, and he was one of the first musicians to use tape recordings in his performances. He worked with many famous artists over the years, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and the Beatles.

Vic Bottari died on January 6, 2003, at the age of 86. He played halfback for the University of California and was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1939 NFL draft. He played in the NFL for eight seasons and was a two-time All-Pro.

He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1966. He died in 1992.

Desmond Bishop was drafted 192nd overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Packers before moving on to the Minnesota Vikings in 2013.

Bob Herwig was born in 1914 in Woodford, California. He attended UC Berkeley and earned a degree in mathematics. Herwig worked as a mathematician for the U.S.

Air Force during World War II. He then worked for the RAND Corporation, where he developed the theory of chaos. Herwig died in 1974 at the age of 60. His work in mathematics and chaos has had a lasting impact on the field.

Herwig is also well known for his book, The Dancing Bear. He was posthumously awarded the Fields Medal in 1975. Bob Herwig was a highly respected mathematician who made significant contributions to the field of chaos theory.

A versatile player who was an All-American at both end positions for the California Golden Bears, Bob Herwig was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in the 1938 NFL draft. A two-time All-Pro, Herwig was a key part of the Cardinals' dynasty of the 1940s.

He helped lead the team to back-to-back NFL championship games in 1947 and 1948, but lost both contests. After retiring from the NFL, Herwig went on to a successful coaching career, most notably with the UCLA Bruins. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

Chuck Muncie was a running back for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers in the NFL. Muncie was a three-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in rushing yards in 1980.

Muncie was also a member of the US Olympic Track and Field Team and competed in the 1976 and 1980 Olympics. Muncie was diagnosed with leukemia in 2011 and died from the disease in 2013 at the age of 60.

Muncie was a popular player and was known for his hard-nosed style of play. Muncie is survived by his wife and two children. Chuck Muncie was a three-time Pro Bowler with the San Diego Chargers and played for the team for 10 seasons.

Muncie was a running back and was the leading rusher in the NFL for three seasons. He was also selected to the All-Rookie Team and was a Pac-8 Player of the Year. Chuck Muncie played in two Pro Bowls and was a three-time Japan Bowl MVP.

Phil Croyle played linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts for thirteen seasons and was a two time Pro Bowler. He played his college ball at the University of Michigan.

Phil Croyle died on May 30, 2020 from a heart attack. He was 70 years old. Phil Croyle was a hard hitter and was known for his ferocious tackles. He was a huge part of the Colts' Super Bowl XLI victory in 2007.

Phil Croyle was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and two children. Phil Croyle was a great ambassador for the game of football and will be missed. Phil Croyle was drafted in the seventh round of the 1971 NFL Draft.

He played for the Houston Oilers and the Buffalo Bills during his career. Croyle was a two-time Pro Bowler and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. He is currently the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Croyle was born in San Lorenzo, California in 1951. He attended California Polytechnic State University and majored in engineering.

Croyle married his wife, Patti, in 1974. The couple has four children - two daughters and two sons. Croyle is a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

Breech played in the NFL for over 20 years, amassing over 4,000 total yards and 37 touchdowns. Breech is most famous for being the placekicker for the Indianapolis Colts, where he led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2006.

Breech is also a two-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro selection. Breech was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013. Breech currently works as a sports analyst for the Fox Sports Network. Breech was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2nd round of the 1980 NFL Draft.

Breech spent his entire 13-year career with the Bengals, playing in 172 games and making 4 Pro Bowls. Breech is best known for his time with the Raiders, where he spent 3 seasons as the team's starting center. Issac Booth was a cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts from 1994-2007. He was a five-time All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowler. Booth was drafted in the fifth round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Colts.

Booth played his entire career with the Colts, making 147 consecutive starts until he was injured in 2007. After his retirement from the NFL, Booth joined the coaching staff of the Colts as a defensive backs coach.

Booth was inducted into the Colts' Ring of Honor in 2009. Issac Booth is married and has two children. Issac Booth is currently a defensive backs coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Issac Booth was a key part of the Cleveland Browns 1994-1995 defense that was one of the best in the NFL.

Daniel Lasco was born in The Woodlands, Texas, on October 9, 1992. He played football at high school in The Woodlands and was a three-year starter. Lasco then attended California and played for the California Golden Bears.
