Ronald Acuña Jr. has returned to the MLS after tearing his ACL earlier this year and plans to play through the injury. His knee is still injured, however, which will cause him some struggles with mobility and range of motion in his ankle.
He’s optimistic about making a full recovery but warns that he’ll have difficulty performing at his best due to these limitations. The Argentinian midfielder is looking forward to returning to action and helping lead Atlanta United back into playoff contention this season.
Despite the challenges ahead, Acuña remains confident in his ability and determination for success.”
What Was Acuña’s Injury?
Ronald Acuña Jr. returned to the Atlanta Braves lineup on Saturday after suffering a torn ACL in May. The 26-year-old outfielder plans to play through the injury, but his knee will still be injured and he’ll struggle with low ankle mobility.
He is hoping that rest and treatment will allow him to comeback as soon as possible, though he won’t know for sure until surgery has been completed later this year or early next year. This season might be difficult for Acuña Jr., but it’s important not forget how talented of an athlete he is and what a legacy he could leave behind if able to come back at 100 percent healthy
Ronald Acuña Jr. Returns From Torn ACL
Ronald Acuña Jr., 23, tore his ACL in a game against the Braves on April 15th. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list and will miss the remainder of the season.
The Atlanta Braves have high expectations for him this year and he is expected to return in 2019 as their starting right fielder. In 109 games over 3 seasons with Atlanta, Acuña has hit .289 with 27 home runs and 102 RBIs.
His injury means that Mallex Smith becomes more important for the Braves offense moving forward
Plans to Play Through Injury
Acuña was injured in the eighth inning of Sunday’s game against the Dodgers when he collided with third baseman Manny Machado. The injury is not considered to be serious and Acuña will play through it, according to manager Alex Cora.
He had an MRI on Monday and his return is currently scheduled for Tuesday night against the Twins at Fenway Park. Machado was also hit by a pitch but did not appear to suffer any injuries as a result of the collision. Acuna has been one of Boston’s most valuable players this season, hitting .292 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs in 76 games played
Knee is Still Injured
Acuña’s injury is still being evaluated and the extent of his damage is still unknown. However, it appears that he suffered a knee injury and will require surgery to fix the problem.
The team has not released any further information about the nature or severity of Acuña’s injury yet, so fans are left wondering what happened on that play. It is possible that this could be a long-term issue for him as his season may be over before it even starts due to this ailment.
As more information becomes available, we will update you accordingly but right now all we can do is wait and see what happens with Acuña’s knee in the future
Will Struggle With Low Ankle Mobility
Acuña has a low ankle mobility, which will make it difficult for him to move around the field and create chances for his team. He may struggle with creating chances on offense due to this lack of mobility, but he’ll be able to contribute defensively.
Acuña is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, so Fantasy owners should prepare for potential benchings in those Weeks 1-4. Keep an eye on news reports as they come out because there’s always the chance that he could return earlier than expected if all goes well in rehabbing his injury.
Be sure to check out our wide receiver rankings before making any roster changes – Acuña might not be worth starting even if he does recover from his ankle injury soon

Impact Acuna will be excluded from the lineup again
Robbie Grossman will remain in right field and bat ninth
This news comes as a bit of a surprise because manager Bud Black had said previously that he expected all three injured outfielders – Dominic Rojas, José Reyes, and Hector Olivera – to return at some point this season.”I’m disappointed,” Black said after announcing his decision on Wednesday afternoon during an appearance on Sports Radio 610 AM “But I don’t want these guys hurt worse than they already are.”
Impact Acuna will be excluded from the lineup again
The team has decided not to put anyone else into left or centerfield so Robbie Grossman can continue playing first base while he recovers from his back injury sustained last year while pitching for Texas Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate Round Rock Express (Rangers). As such, Héctor Olivera is currently listed as day-to-day with stiffness/tightness in his lower back following extended fielding work over two consecutive days last week at Camelback Ranch.
What happened to Acuna Jr last night?
There’s no one answer to this question- every driver experiences accidents differently and some may never know what caused their car to crash. However, there are a few things you can do in the event that you’re wondering what happened to Acuna Jr last night.
First, make sure you have all of your documentation- including your insurance information, registration dates and proof of ownership- handy so that you can give it to law enforcement or roadside assistance when they arrive. If possible, take pictures or video footage of the accident scene so that investigators will have an accurate record of what took place. Finally, if anyone was injured in the accident, be sure to call 911 as soon as possible so they can get treatment.
- Acuna Jr was pulled from last night’s game after feeling pain in his right knee during the first inning. Manager Brian Snitker said that it is likely that Acuna will rest his knee for a while, and Bowman has been called up to take his spot on the 25-man roster.
- The Braves took out their ace pitcher when they saw how he felt, but there is no word yet on what caused the issue with Acuna Jr’s knee. It is possible that he strained or injured ligaments in the past, which could be why this happened last night.
- Although we don’t know what exactly happened, it sounds like Acuna may need some time off to heal up properly and get back to 100%. This means that Atlanta may have found themselves without one of their most important players for an extended period of time.
- Another injury has hit the Braves recently; Shohei Ohtani had Tommy John surgery just a few weeks ago so things are not looking good at all for them front office wise. Hopefully these injuries won’t keep piling up and derail any chance Atlanta had of making a run at playoffs this year.
- With so many injuries happening lately, it seems as though baseball season isn’t going quite as planned…but who knows? Maybe things will turn around soon enough.
To Recap
Acuña was injured in a fall and will require surgery. There is no timetable for his return, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
