Early years
Eric Kendricks was born in Fresno, California, to Yvonne Thagon and Marvin Kendricks, a former running back for UCLA who had also played in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was raised in a single-parent home, with his older brother Mychal and younger sister Danielle.
His father, Marvin, was struggling with a crack cocaine addiction. Kendricks attended Hoover High School in Fresno, where he was a standout football player. During his tenure, he was named first-team All-League, first-team All-Lalley, and first-team All-State.
