At UW Byron quickly made an impact during his freshman season when he started 11 games at cornerback where he recorded 37 total tackles with six pass breakups along with four interceptions – good enough for first-team All-Pac-12 honors that year alone.

His sophomore campaign saw similar production but unfortunately missed some time due to injury causing him only appear in 8 games instead of 12 or 13 as most expected prior to being sidelined by medical issues midseason.
