His last active participation in MLB occurred as a member of the Washington Nationals during the July 2022 regular season. Following that period, he departed from MLB rosters, ending his time on North American major league diamonds.
Choosing Domestic Competition Over International Alternatives
Following his departure from MLB, Escobar faced decisions regarding the next phase of his athletic career. During this transitional phase, opportunities emerged for him to play in Mexico.
Rather than signing with a Mexican franchise, Escobar explicitly rejected these options. His decision-making was driven by a preference to remain in his native country. By declining Mexican offers, he committed to playing locally in Venezuela, signing with Centauros de La Guaira.
