Victor Osimhen is a Nigerian striker who currently plays for Napoli in Serie A. Born in Lagos, Osimhen started his career at Ultimate Strikers Academy before moving to VfL Wolfsburg where he made 14 appearances during the 2017-2018 season.

In 2018-2019, Osimhen spent time on loan with Charleroi, scoring 12 goals in 25 games. Victor Osimhen is considered one of the most promising young strikers in Europe and has been linked with a move to some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Manchester United and Barcelona.

Okocha was born on August 14, 1973 in Enugu, Nigeria. He started his career with Enugu Rangers before moving to Bundesliga side Borussia Neunkirchen in 1990.

After a year at Frankfurt Okocha moved to Paris Saint-Germain where he played for eight seasons and won the Ligue 1 title twice. 

In 2002 Okocha signed for Bolton Wanderers and spent four years there before retiring from professional football in 2007 due to injury aged 34 years old.

Jay-Jay has since worked as a coach with Qatar SC and is currently their head of coaching staff after being appointed in December 2017.[3] Jay-Jay Okocha was a world class footballer who played for one of the biggest clubs in England. 

He started his career with Nigerian side Hull City, before moving to English giants Arsenal.

Jay-Jay Okocha won many trophies during his time at Arsenal, including two Premier League titles and an FA Cup. After leaving Arsenal, Jay-Jay Okocha had spells at Chelsea and Real Madrid before retiring from football in 2007. 

Since retirement, Jay-JAY Okocha has worked as a television pundit and ambassador for various charities around the world.

The former Nigeria international is still widely considered one of the best midfielders ever to play the game.

Emmanuel Dennis is a Nigerian striker who currently plays for Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League. Dennis started his youth career with Belgian side Kortrijk before joining Club Brugge in 2018.

He made his EPL debut that same year and has since scored six goals in 28 appearances. Dennis was born on November 15, 1997, in Yola, Nigeria. He moved to Belgium at an early age and began playing football there before moving to Club Brugge later that year.

Emmanuel Dennis has represented Nigeria at U-17, U-20 and senior level; he played for them at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where they reached the semi-finals but were beaten by Cameroon.

In October 2019, it was announced that Emmanuel Dennis had signed a new long term contract with Nottingham Forest which will keep him at the club until 2024.

Wilfred Ndidi was born in Lagos, Nigeria on December 16th 1996. He started his career with Ekosodin Stars FC and then went onto play for Nath Boys Academy before signing for Leicester City in the summer of 2015.

Wilfred is an incredibly versatile defender who can also fill in at midfield if needed. In 2017, he made his senior international debut for Nigeria and has since gone on to win a Premier League title with Leicester City Wilfred Ndidi is a midfielder for Leicester City and Nigeria.

He has 61 club appearances and 178 international caps. Ndidi was born in Lagos, Nigeria on 9 January 1995. At the age of 16, he moved to Belgium to play football with Genk. 

In 2015, Ndidi made his debut for Nigeria at the age of 20 during their World Cup qualification campaign. The team went on to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations that year where they reached the semi-finals before losing to Egypt.

In 2016, Ndidis performances with Genk led him to be signed by Leicester City in England's Premier League; he has since played 178 matches for them and scored 7 goals over three seasons (2015–2017). 

On 11 November 2018 it was announced that Ndiid had been called up by Nigerian head coach Gernot Rohr for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville and Malawi later that month.

Rashidi Yekini was born in Kaduna, Nigeria on 23 October 1963. He started his career with UNTL Kaduna in 1981 and went onto play for Shooting Stars between 1982-1984.

In 1984, he joined Abiola Babes where he would stay until 1987 before retiring from football at the age of 33. 

Rashidi Yekini had a successful international career playing for the Nigerian National Team between 1985 and 1998 scoring 30 goals in 53 appearances including 12 goals during his time with UNTL Kaduna and 45 goals in 100 appearances whilst at Shooting Stars.

He died aged 48 after a long battle against liver cancer which took him to hospital multiple times throughout his life but ultimately proved too strong for him to overcome. 

Rashidi Yekini played as a defender for Nigeria from 1984 to 1998. He helped the team win 62 international matches, including 37 during his time with club side Niger Premier League side Enyimba International F.C.

After retiring from playing professionally, Rashidi became a manager and currently works at Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). In 2005 he was appointed head coach of Gateway FC in the Nigerian Professional League but left after just seven months due to personal reasons. 

Currently, he is working as assistant technical director at Egyptian club Al-Ahly SC which competes in Egypt's top league; the Egyptian Cup and Arab Club Champions' Cup tournaments respectively.

He has also been credited with helping develop current stars such as Ahmed Musa (Zimbabwe), Vincent Enyeama (Chile) and Kenneth Omeruo (Nigeria).

Alex Iwobi is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Everton in the Premier League. Iwobi started his career at Lagos-based club Enugu Rangers, before joining English side Arsenal in 2015.

He made his senior debut for Nigeria in 2016 and has since earned over 50 caps, scoring six goals. 

In 2019 he was part of the Arsenal team that won the Europa League Final against Liverpool. Iwobi is known for being an incisive passer with excellent vision and passing ability; although he can also be effective when attacking on his own as a forward or midfielder.

He has been compared to former Gunners player Patrick Vieira by pundits[3] Iwobi is a Nigerian international and Arsenal player who has made over 100 appearances for the club. 

Iwobi first came to prominence at Arsenal, making his senior debut in 2015 and scoring five goals in 101 appearances since then. 

Iwobi has featured for England at youth level but hasn't played for Nigeria internationally since 2016 due to eligibility restrictions with his birth country.

Iwobi is an attacking midfielder who likes to play on the front foot, often taking on defenders one-on-one or linking up with teammates in attack. 

Despite limited opportunities, this season under new manager Marco Silva, Iwobi remains an important part of Everton's squad and could be key when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup next month.

Terem Moffi was born on 25 May 1999 in Calabar, Nigeria. He is 1.88 metres tall and plays as a forward for Lorient. Terem Moffi made his debut for the club during the 2017-18 season and has since played 36 matches scoring six goals.

The 23-year-old has also represented Nigeria at youth level, playing at both U20 and U23 level before making his senior international debut in March 2018 against Congo DR1 Terem Moffi is a Lithuanian footballer who currently plays for Kauno Žalgiris in the Lithuania national football league.

Victor Moses is a Nigerian international footballer who currently plays for Spartak Moscow. Moses was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1990 and began his career at Crystal Palace in 2002.

William Troost-Ekong is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a Centre-back for Watford. He made his senior debut in the 2013–14 season with Groningen and went on to play for Gent before joining Watford in 2017.

Troost-Ekong has represented both the Netherlands at youth level, winning silver medals at the U17 European Championship and U21 World Cup, and also Tottenham Hotspur.

Maduka Okoye is a 23-year old goalkeeper who currently plays for Watford. Maduka started his career with DJK SC Flingern 08 before moving to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2016.

In total, Okoye has made 55 appearances for both clubs and helped them win the German Regionalliga Süd twice (2017, 2018). With Watford, Maduka has played 12 matches so far this season and been one of the club's regular goalkeepers.

Paul Onuachu is a Nigerian forward who currently plays for Belgian side Genk. He first came to prominence at the age of 18, when he scored on his debut for Nigeria against Zambia in 2014.

In total, Paul has played 47 times for Nigeria, scoring 11 goals. After impressing during spells with PSV Eindhoven and KRC Genk during the 2017-18 season, he was snapped up by Genk in January 2018.

Onuachu is a versatile defender who can play at either centre-back or right-back. Onuachu has experience playing in both Denmark and Netherlands, and he is familiar with the challenges of European football.

Onuachu was called up to the Nigerian national team for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, but did not feature in any games as Nigeria were eliminated in the group stages.

Sunday Oliseh was born in Abavo, Delta State, Nigeria on September 14th, 1974. He started his professional career with Julius Berger in 1989 and spent the next four seasons with the club.

He then moved to Belgium to play for RFC Liège. He spent three seasons with them before moving to Germany to play for 1. FC Köln. He spent two seasons with the club before moving to Ajax in 1997.

He spent six seasons with the club before moving to Italy to play for Juventus. He spent one season with the club before returning to his native country to play for Borussia Dortmund. He spent two seasons with the club before moving to Bochum on a loan in 2003.

Julius Aghahowa is a Nigerian striker who has played for several clubs in Europe, most notably Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine and FC Twente in the Netherlands.

Aghahowa started his career with Police Machines in Nigeria before moving to Bendel Insurance in the Netherlands. He made his debut for Shakhtar Donetsk in 2010, and has since scored over 50 goals in European competition.

Aghahowa has been capped by Nigeria at international level, and was part of the team that reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. He is currently a free agent, and is rumoured to be close to joining English side Manchester United.

Aghahowa is known for his powerful striking ability and excellent ball control. He is a consistent goal scorer, and is thought to be a strong candidate for the African Footballer of the Year award. Julius Aghahowa is a fast and powerful striker who is known for his excellent technical ability.

José Peseiro is a Portuguese football manager and forward who is currently the manager of Nigeria. Peseiro started his career with Coruchense before moving to Oriental in 1983.

He spent the majority of his career with Oriental, featuring for the club in the 1983–84, 1984–85, 1987–88 and 1988–89 seasons. Peseiro made a short return to his former club Coruchense in the 1989–90 season.

He retired from playing in the 1990–91 season. Peseiro started his managerial career with Cartaxo in the 1991–92 season. He moved to Samora Correia in the 1992–93 season and then to Oriental in the 1993–94 season.

He was appointed the manager of Nigeria in 2016. Peseiro is the son of José Vítor Peseiro, who also played football. José Peseiro was born in Porto, Portugal on July 9, 1961. 

Peseiro played as a midfielder for several clubs in Portugal, most notably União Santarém and Alcanenense.

He also had spells in Spain with Real Madrid and Sporting CP, and Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal. In 2004, Peseiro was appointed assistant manager of Real Madrid. 

He left Madrid in 2005 to take over as manager of Sporting CP. He left Sporting in 2007, and spent a year with Panathinaikos.

In 2008, he returned to Portugal to take over as manager of Rapid București. In 2009, he moved to Braga, and later to Al Ahly. Peseiro was appointed manager of Porto in March 2016.

Mutiu Adepoju is a retired Nigerian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Adepoju began his career with Femo Scorpions in 1986, and quickly established himself as one of Nigeria's most promising young players.

In 1990, Adepoju signed with Spanish side Real Madrid, and made an immediate impact. Adepoju remained with Madrid until 1995, winning a La Liga and Copa del Rey title with the club. In 1996, Adepoju joined French side AS Monaco, where he spent two seasons.

Adepoju retired from professional football in 1998, having earned over 100 caps for Nigeria. After retiring from football, Adepoju has taken up coaching duties with his former club Real Madrid. Mutiu Adepoju is a two-time La Liga champion and Copa del Rey winner with Real Madrid.

Adepoju is also a two-time African Footballer of the Year, and was named in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living footballers in 2005.

Salisu Yusuf is a Somali-Canadian writer, journalist, and human rights activist. Yusuf has written extensively about the Horn of Africa and the Somali Civil War.

He has also worked as a producer and editor for various media outlets, including the CBC and the Toronto Star. Yusuf has been honored with several awards, including the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2009.

He currently resides in Toronto. Yusuf is an outspoken critic of the Somali government and its policies. He has also been critical of the Canadian government's response to the Somali Civil War. Yusuf is a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists.

Yusuf is also a member of the Somali Canadian community. Salisu Yusuf was born in 1936 in Borno State, Nigeria. 

He is a poet, writer, and critic. Yusuf's first book of poetry, The River Between, was published in 1967. Yusuf is the author of several other books of poetry, including The Book of Nightmares (1980), The Book of Evidence (1985), and The Book of Salutations (1990).

Yusuf is also the author of several novels, including The Mimic Men (1980), White Masks (1987), and The Distant Drum (2004). Yusuf has been a professor at the University of Ibadan since 1976. 

Yusuf was awarded the prestigious Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in 1994. Yusuf died in Ibadan on January 5, 2009.

Final Words

The Nigerian national football team has a long and successful history of competing in the FIFA World Cup. Some of the best players in Nigerian football history have been Tony Yeboah, Mikel Obi, and Nwankwo Kanu.

These players have all represented Nigeria at the World Cup, and have all enjoyed success in the tournament.

Yeboah, in particular, is one of the most decorated players in World Cup history, having won the Golden Ball award as the best player at the 2002 World Cup, as well as the Silver Ball award for being the best player of the tournament.
