Boasting some of hockey history’s greatest players such as Dave Keon, Mats Sundin and Wendel Clark -– along with current stars like Auston Matthews –- The Maple Leafs remain an iconic symbol not only throughout Canada but across North America too.

Mats Sundin is a hockey legend, and one of the most highly decorated players in NHL history. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, and he holds numerous records and championships despite playing for teams that never enjoyed long runs at the top of the league.

Sundin began his career with Djurgårdens IF before being drafted first overall by Quebec Nordiques in 1989. 

The team only lasted two seasons however, and Sundin moved on to play for Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks (where he won his first Stanley Cup) , and finally Sweden where he earned international acclaim as captain of Team Europe at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Mats Sundin retired from professional hockey following the 2014-15 season after 18 years representing Sweden internationally at various tournaments including. 

World Championships, Olympic Games and Euro Hockey Tour games. Sundin has since taken up coaching duties with Djurgården's junior squad where he helps develop young talent into future stars of Swedish ice hockey.

2. Darryl Sittler

Darryl Sittler was one of the most prolific goal scorers in NHL history, amassing over 600 goals and 1,500 points during his 17-year career. 

After playing for several minor league teams, Sittler made his debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1970 and quickly established himself as a top scorer.

He led the Leafs to their first Stanley Cup championship in 1974 and helped them win another title in 1977. In 1981, he joined the Philadelphia Flyers and helped them reach the Stanley Cup Finals before losing to Chicago Blackhawks. 

While with Philadelphia, he also won two more Cups (1987 & 1988) and became one of only four players to have won all four major professional hockey championships - World Hockey Association (WHA), National Hockey League (NHL), Continental Hockey League (CHL) and international ice hockey tournament Olympic Gold Medal).

Following his retirement from playing in 1992, Sitter served as head coach of both Detroit Red Wings AHL team Grand Rapids Griffins as well as Canada's national men's ice hockey team at three consecutive Winter Olympics games: 2002 Salt Lake City; 2006 Turin; 2010 Vancouver.

Darryl had an extensive broadcasting career following his retirement from playing ice hockey including stints on CBC TV’s HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA™ where he hosted alongside. 

Don Cherry for 11 seasons beginning 1998-99 season through 2013/14 campaign then moved onto TSN where he currently serves as analyst on THE HOCKEY ROAD SHOW airing.

3. Auston Matthews

Auston Matthews is a skilled player who can score goals and make plays with the puck. 

He was drafted first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Matthews has already made an impact on the league, scoring 41 goals in 82 games as a rookie for the Maple Leafs. 

Matthews will be looking to improve on his totals from last season as he looks to become one of the greatest players in history.

Auston Matthew's father played professional hockey and his older brother also played at a high level, so it's no surprise that he became a talented player himself. 

Matthews is married to Canadian actress Serena Mitchell and they have two children together - daughter Foxes (born September 2018) and son Otter (born July 2020).

Auston Matthews enjoys skiing, snowboarding, surfing, golfing and spending time with family and friends Auston Matthews was born on July 1, 1997, in Scottsdale, Arizona. 

Auston is the son of former NHL player and assistant coach Brian Matthews and Olympic ice dancer Kaitlyn Weaver. His father also played for Team USA at the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Auston first started playing hockey while he was just two years old, with his brother Andrew helping him out in their backyard rink near their home in Scottsdale. 

By the time he was four, he had started playing organized hockey with a travel team called The Jr Canadians Hockey Club - which would later become his junior club when he moved to Toronto to play with the Maple Leaf's organization's minor league affiliate, the Mississauga Steelheads (now known as the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds).

In March 2015, Auston recorded an incredible accomplishment by becoming one of only five players ever to score 50 goals and add 50 assists within a calendar year in junior hockey (the other four beings. 

Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Patrick Kane, and Nathan MacKinnon), earning him honours such as Canadian Hockey League Player of Year and OHL First-Team All-Star selection along the way during that impressive season. 

Making him eligible for entry into Canada's National Junior Team Program heading into the 2016 World Junior Championships where he led all rookies with six points (two goals + four assists) en route to winning the bronze medal after losing the semifinal game against Russia 2–1.

Auston became not only the best rookie but also the leading scorer among all NHLers scoring 14 points through 13 games during the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs and reaching 19 points overall before finally winning. 

Calder Memorial Trophy awarded annually "to the most outstanding rookie" after posting 43 points – 28 goals + 15 assists = 61 points over 82 regular season games playing center position for Toronto Maple Leafs. 

Setting franchise records for fewest games needed (81 GP) by any player since 1927/28 campaign winner. Turk Broda posted 44 GP without recording a point until the postgame ceremony following the sixth game vs Montreal Canadiens; tying 1917/18.

Becoming the youngest player ever elected captain of an NHL team at 20 years 224 days old succeeding. 

Dion Phaneuf announced earlier this month his retirement from professional ice hockey coaching duties effective immediately having served as captain since the 2013/14 season together taking part in representing the country at three consecutive IIHF World Championships: 2012.

4. Dave Keon

Dave Keon is a hockey hall of famer who was one of the most important players in Toronto Maple Leafs history. He played his entire career with the Maple Leafs, and helped them win four Stanley Cup championships.

In 1986, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Dave Keon retired from playing in 1977, but continues to be involved in the game as a commentator and executive director for Hockey Canada. Dave Keon was a talented player who excelled in the NHL for over 20 years.

He was a key member of several teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Hartford Whalers and Indianapolis Racers. 

Keon is also remembered for his strong play on the ice and off it - he was an outspoken advocate for social justice throughout his career. Dave Keon passed away in 2012 at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer.

5. Doug Gilmour

Doug Gilmour was a prolific scorer in the NHL, amassing over 1,000 points during his career. He is most famous for his time with the Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames, where he helped lead those teams to Stanley Cup championships.

After retiring from playing hockey, Gilmour became an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being named head coach of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in Switzerland in 2016.

Gilmour was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 after receiving widespread recognition for his play throughout his career.

Doug Gilmour is a former NHL player who played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, and St. Louis Blues between 1983 and 2003. Doug Gilmour was born on December 4th, 1962 in London, Ontario. 

After playing junior hockey with the London Knights of the OHL from 1978 to 1980, Gilmour joined the University of Michigan where he helped lead his team to two NCAA championships in 1985 and 1986.

In 1981-1982 season, Gilmour made his professional debut with the Atlanta Flames before joining Chicago later that year as an undrafted free agent goaltender prospect. 

He would eventually play 821 games over thirteen seasons with Chicago (1983-1993), Montreal (1994-2001) and St Louis (2002-2003). 

As one of only six players ever to record at least 1,000 points in both The Stanley Cup playoffs and regular season while playing for different teams (1st: Jaromir Jagr; 2nd: Wayne Gretzky), Doug Gilmour is considered one of hockey's all time greats.

6. Börje Salming

Börje Salming

Börje Salming was a defenseman who played in the NHL for many years. He is best known for his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he won three Stanley Cup championships.

Salming also played for Sweden in international competition and was a part of their 1974 World Championship-winning team. Salming passed away in 2022 at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer.

Salming was a Norris Trophy-winning defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. Salming also won two Olympic gold medals with Sweden, in 1972 and 1994. Salming retired from professional hockey in 1993 after playing 18 seasons in the NHL.

Börje Salming is currently a sports commentator for Swedish television networks SVT and ZTV, as well as an ambassador for several charities devoted to helping children around the world. In 2006, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame alongside his former teammate Darryl Sittler.

7. Mitch Marner

Mitch Marner is a skilled and talented player who has quickly become one of the brightest young stars in the NHL. 

He first made a name for himself as a highly-talented junior hockey player, winning several awards and accolades along the way.

After making his debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017, Marner quickly established himself as an elite talent on both sides of the ice. 

His combination of speed, skill, and creativity makes him difficult to defend against - no matter how experienced their opponent may be.

Marner is currently playing at an All-Star level for Toronto, helping them remain competitive in what has been a tough league season so far. 

With continued success on the ice and further recognition off it, Mitch Marner looks destined for great things in future years Mitch Marner is a right-wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL.

He was drafted 4th overall in 2015 and has since made an impact with his play on the ice. Mitch Marner is known for his speed and ability to create chances for himself and others. He also possesses high hockey IQ, making him very dangerous on offense. 

Mitch Marner's biggest challenge will likely continue to be consistency; he has shown flashes of brilliance but can also be frustratingly inconsistent at times.

Despite this challenge, Mitch Marner is still one of the most highly touted prospects in hockey and looks set to make a significant contribution soon in either the NHL or international scene.

8. William Nylander

William Nylander is a 26-year old forward who plays for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League. 

He was drafted by the Maple Leafs with their first pick, eighth overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Nylander has represented Sweden at both junior and international levels and won a silver medal at the World Juniors Championship in 2015. In 2016-17 he led all rookies in scoring with 76 points (24 goals and 50 assists) in 66 games played for Toronto's AHL affiliate, the Marlies.

At 6'0" and 191 pounds, William Nyland William Nylander is a talented right-winger who has been playing in the NHL for two seasons now. 

He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2014, and he's had some success with them so far - most notably scoring 41 goals and 92 points during the 2017-18 season.

However, Nylander has also developed other parts of his game - such as being an excellent passer and penalty killer. He will be looking to continue this form next season, as he'll be one of the key players for Toronto if they're hoping to win their fourth Stanley Cup title in five years. 

Overall, William Nylander is a very talented player who is sure to have a long career in hockey - which fans are surely going to enjoy watching.

9. Tim Horton

Tim Horton

Tim Horton was a Canadian Hockey Hall of Fame player and coach. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1951 to 1965, winning four Stanley Cups during that time.

Horton later coached the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings, among others. He died in 1974 at age 44 after a short battle with cancer.

Tim Horton was a towering defenceman in his playing days and is one of the most iconic players in NHL history. He played for six different teams during his career, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks.

He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1974 and is widely considered one of the greatest defencemen ever to play the game. In 1988 he founded Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada - a chain that continues to be successful today. 

A dedicated family man, Horton retired from professional hockey following the 1994-95 season with 1,500 goals and 1279 assists to his name - making him one of only four players (along with Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Mario Lemieux) to score over 1 000 points in both pro hockey leagues (NHL/AHL) at least once1.

10. John Tavares

John Tavares is a talented and skilled center who has spent his entire NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

He was drafted first overall by the Maple Leafs in 2009 and has since established himself as one of the league's top scorers.

In 2018, he won his fourth Stanley Cup championship with Toronto, cementing himself as one of hockey's all-time greats. 

Tavares is married to singer Elin Nordegren and they have two children together - son Maximus (born 2012) and daughter Scarlett (born 2016).

John Tavares will be playing for Team Canada at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo alongside fellow Maple Leaf Auston Matthews. John Tavares was drafted 1st overall by the New York Islanders in the 2009 NHL Draft. 

He has spent his entire playing career with the Islanders, amassing over 570 points in 706 games played.

Tavares was a key part of Team Canada's gold medal victory at the 2016 Olympic Games and captained them to victory in the 2017 World Championship. In 2019 he signed an 8-year extension with the Islanders worth $88 million CAD ($73 million USD). 

John Tavares is considered one of the best goal scorers and talents to ever play for Canada and is widely regarded as one of hockey's all-time greats.

11. Wendel Clark

Wendel Clark

Wendel Clark was a left wing and defenceman who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Quebec Nordiques, New York Islanders, and Colorado Avalanche. Clark was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1987 and spent his entire NHL career with them.

He won three Stanley Cups as part of their team from 1994 to 1996. 

After retiring from playing hockey in 2001, Clark became a television commentator for both Canadian and American broadcasters including CBC/TSN, Fox Sports Net West, NBCSN/MSG Network (now MSG Plus), TVA Sports (France), NOS Sport ( Netherlands ), SPORT1 Austria , GolTV Bulgaria In 2009.

He founded The Wendel Clark Foundation which provides support to disadvantaged youth through sport programs around Canada.

Wendel Clarke is married to former tennis player Julie Ervin and they have two children together.

12. Morgan Rielly

Morgan Rielly is a defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was drafted by the Maple Leafs in 2012 and has since become one of their most consistent players.

Morgan Rielly is a defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs and has played in the NHL since 2013. He was drafted 5th overall by the team in 2012, after playing junior hockey with the London Knights.

Morgan has been a key player on defense for Toronto over the past few seasons and was named to Canada's World Junior Championship squad in 2017 as well as their Olympic team this year. 

Outside of hockey, Morgan enjoys spending time with his family and friends and travelling whenever he can.

13. Frank Mahovlich

Frank Mahovlich was a Hall of Fame hockey player who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mahovlich is best known for his time with the Leafs, where he won five Stanley Cups between 1963 and 1971.

He also had successful stints with the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens, before retiring in 1974 at age 36 due to injury. After retirement, Mahovlich served as an NHL referee from 1975 to 1984.

In 1981, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after being voted by peers as one of Canada's greatest ever players. 

Mahovlich currently resides in Timmins, Ontario with his wife Linda and their two children Alex and Tessa-Lynn Frank Mahovlich was a left winger who played in the NHL for 12 seasons.

He had an illustrious career with Toronto, Detroit, and Montreal. Mahovlich was a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Maple Leafs and Red Wings respectively. In 1978 he joined the Birmingham Bulls of the WHA where he finished his playing career six seasons later. 

Frank Mahovlich is considered one of Canada's all-time greatest hockey players and remains one of the most popular athletes in that country today.

14. George Armstrong

George Armstrong

George Armstrong was a highly successful defenseman in the NHL, winning six Stanley Cup championships with four different teams. He played his entire career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, retiring in 1971.

After his playing days were over, Armstrong became an influential figure in hockey administration and served as president of the Hockey Hall of Fame from 1980 to 1987. 

He died on October 2, 2003 at the age of 78 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease George Armstrong was a skilled right wing who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1949 to 1971.

George Armstrong scored over 1,000 goals and added over 500 assists during his playing career. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972 and received the Lester B. 

Pearson Award in 1978 as the Canadian player of the year. George Armstrong died on January 24, 2021 at age 90 after a long and successful hockey career.

15. Red Kelly

Red Kelly was a legendary defenceman in the NHL and one of the most respected players ever to play the game. He is best known for his time with the Detroit Red Wings, where he won four Stanley Cups and was named captain in 1960.

After retiring from playing, Kelly served as a coach and executive with several teams over the course of more than 40 years. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1969 and had his number 12 retired by both Detroit and Toronto later that year.

Kelly passed away at 91 after a long illness, leaving behind an incredible legacy as one of hockey's all-time greats. 

A hockey legend, Red Kelly was one of the most successful players in Canadian history. He played for 17 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs and led them to four Stanley Cup championships.

Born in 1917, Kelly started playing ice hockey at an early age and quickly became a star player. In 1947 he joined the Canada National Hockey Team and helped them win gold at the 1948 Winter Olympics. 

After retiring from professional play in 1967, Kelly served as a Member of Parliament for York West until his death in 2002.

16. Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy was born in 1925 and became a hockey hall of famer in 1966. He played forward for the Ottawa Hockey Club, where he won two Stanley Cups. 

After his playing career ended, Ted Kennedy served as a senator from Massachusetts for over thirty years before his death in 2009 at the age of 73 Ted Kennedy was a popular Canadian senator and one of the most influential senators in the United States.

He served as chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works from 1987 to 1995, during which time he led investigations into air pollution and Superfund sites. 

Ted Kennedy also played an important role in passing health care reform in 1993, which helped to improve access to medical care for millions of Americans. Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer in May 2009, but fought hard against the disease until his death just over a year later at the age of 83 years old.

Ted Kennedy is remembered by many as one of America's most beloved political leaders, and his memory will always be cherished by those who knew him best.

17. Syl Apps

Syl Apps

Syl Apps served as the Minister of Correctional Services in the government of Premier Bill Davis. Syl Apps was a key part of several prison reform initiatives during his time in office, including work to improve prisoner rehabilitation and expand educational opportunities for inmates.

Syl Apps also played an important role in expanding social services for inmates, many of which remain integral parts of correctional programming today. After serving in provincial politics for more than twenty years, Syl Apps retired from elected office at the end of 1975. 

In retirement, SylApps continued to support prison reform efforts through his work with organizations like Amnesty International and The John Howard Society .

SylApps passed away on October 10th, 2017 at the age of 93 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

18. Rasmus Sandin

Rasmus Sandin

Rasmus Sandin was born in Uppsala, Sweden on March 7th, 2000. He is a tall and lanky defenseman who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2022 season.

At 183 pounds, he is not very imposing physically but his skating ability and puck-handling make him an elusive opponent for opponents to handle down low. 

His play with the Maple Leafs improved as the season went on and he helped contribute to their berth in the playoffs where they lost to Boston Bruins in six games.

Rasmus will likely return to Toronto next year where he can continue developing his skills at the NHL level under new head coach Mike Babcock Rasmus Sandin was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2018 NHL Draft. 

He played for Rögle BK in Sweden before joining the AHL's Toronto Marlies last season. The left-handed defenceman has yet to appear in an NHL game, but is looking to make his debut this upcoming season with the Maple Leafs.

Sandin had previously represented Sweden at both Under 18 and World Juniors levels, amassing 14 caps total between those tournaments. Signed until 2020, Rasmus Sandin is hoping he can establish himself as a regular member of the Maple Leafs' roster over that time period.

19. Johnny Bower

Johnny Bower

Johnny Bower was a goaltender who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL. He won four Stanley Cups with Detroit, and two more with Toronto.

He also earned a gold medal at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia. Johnny Bower is one of only three goaltenders to have won 500 games in his career (the other two are Martin Brodeur and Ed Belfour).

After he retired from playing professionally, he served as head coach for several teams including the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings before retiring for good in 1978. 

In 1996, Johnny Bower was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame along with his former teammate Gordie Howe Johnny Bower played for the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings during his playing career.

He was drafted by the Rangers in 1945 and spent nine seasons with the team before joining the Maple Leafs in 1959. He won three Stanley Cups with Toronto (1957, 1963, 1965) and helped lead Canada to a silver medal at the 1964 Winter Olympics. 

Johnny Bower retired from professional hockey after playing one final season with Detroit in 1969-70. After retiring from hockey, he served as coach of Team Canada at several international tournaments including World Championships and Olympic Games.

20. Timothy Liljegren

Timothy Liljegren was born in Kristianstad, Sweden on April 30th 1999. He is a 6'0" 183 cm tall defenceman and has played with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL since 2016-2017.

Liljegren was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 1st round (7th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. As of March 2019 he had scored 2 goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 38 games with Toronto Marlies, ranking first among all rookie defensemen in scoring so far this season.

The Sens have an option to keep him under contract for another year at $4 million but it's not clear if they will do so yet or trade him before then as there are already plenty of blueliners ahead of him on Ottawa's depth chart including Erik Karlsson, Brady Tkachuk and Josh Norris who are all expected to be back from injury very soon).

Rick Vaive was a prolific scorer in his NHL career, amassing over 500 points. He played for the Chicago Blackhawks from 1988 to 1998 and won two Stanley Cups with them.

Vaive also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators, before finishing his career with the Winnipeg Jets in 2003-04. After retirement, Vaive became a hockey commentator for various networks around North America.

In 2007 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of its class of 2010 induction ceremony Rick Vaive was a dominant player in the NHL for over 20 years. He had an amazing career with six teams and is one of the most famous players from Canada.

Vaive was drafted by Vancouver Canucks in 1979 and spent his entire playing career there until 1992 when he retired. He won two Stanley Cups with them, as well as a Conn Smythe Trophy (playoff MVP). 

After retiring, Rick started coaching hockey at various levels across North America before taking on a full-time position with the Anaheim Ducks in 2004.

In total, he has coached more than 1,000 games during his distinguished career. RickVaive passed away on May 9th 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease which affected his memory gradually over time.

22. Bob Pulford

Bob Pulford

Pulford is a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and one of the most decorated players in Maple Leaf history. Pulford was drafted by Toronto in the second round (26th overall) of the 1956 NHL Entry Draft.

Pulford played 614 regular season games with Toronto, registering 408 points (203 goals, 237 assists). He also made 84 playoff appearances, scoring 32 goals and adding 38 assists. 

After retiring as a player, Pulford served as head coach for two seasons with the Los Angeles Kings before joining ESPN's coverage team as an analyst from 1990 to 2006.

In 2007, he was named president and general manager for Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he remained until his retirement in 2018 at age 87 years old. 

Pulford was a left wing who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings, and Boston Bruins during his playing career. Pulford was known as an excellent skater with explosive speed both on the ice and on the boards.

He scored goals by stickhandling in close to the net or by blasting slap shots from long range. Pulford's aggressive play earned him numerous penalties, but he also displayed a strong defensive game that helped him carve out a lengthy career in hockey despite his penalty totals. 

Pulford is considered one of the most skilled players to ever lace up a pair of skates; he is credited with developing many innovative offensive techniques that are still used today in professional hockey leagues around the world.

Kyle Clifford is a left wing who was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent his entire career with the Kings, playing in 563 games and scoring 141 goals and 164 assists for 291 points.

In 2012 he won the Stanley Cup with Los Angeles. Kyle was named an All-Star twice (2010, 2011) and led all players in playoff points during both seasons.

Tomáš Kaberle is a veteran defender who has played for the Czech Republic on numerous occasions. He was born in 1978 and is 44 years old. His height is 6 ft 1 in (185 cm) and his weight is 97 kg (214 lb).

In 2010, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent after playing for HC Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. He made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs on October 5, 2010 against the Buffalo Sabres and recorded an assist in a 4-1 victory over his former team.

He finished third among all defencemen in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to Canada's top rookie hockey player, behind Sidney Crosby of Pittsburgh Penguins and Ryan Johansen of Columbus Blue Jackets respectively.

Charlie Conacher was a hockey legend who is widely considered one of the greatest players in history. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs throughout his career and was a key part of their Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1947, 1948 and 1951.

He also won two MVP Awards and four scoring titles during his time with the team. Charlie Conacher passed away at age 58 after a long battle with leukemia, leaving behind an incredible legacy as one of the sport's all-time greats. 

Charlie Conacher was a highly skilled right winger who played his entire career with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He was known for his speed, power, and accuracy with the puck. Charlie Conacher helped lead the Maple Leafs to their first Stanley Cup championship in 1934–35. The following season he led the team in scoring and won the Art Ross Trophy as NHL MVP. 

In 1936 Charlie Conacher joined up with Detroit Red Wings where he would spend six seasons playing alongside such Hall of Famers as Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, and Sid Abel.

His final season was 1940–41 when he finished second in league scoring behind only Maurice Richard despite being traded mid-season to New York Americans. 

After finishing his playing career Charlie Conacher went on to coach both junior hockey teams and later served as an assistant coach for Team Canada at three consecutive Olympic Games (1964, 1968, 1972). 

On November 12th 2005 Charlie Conacher was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame along with teammates Bill Barilko, Frank Mahovlich, Punch Imlach, King Clancy, Cyclone Taylor and Howie Morenz.

Lanny McDonald is a retired right winger who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks in the NHL. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.

McDonald began his hockey career with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 1974, he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs and made his NHL debut that same year. 

After two seasons with Toronto, he was traded to Edmonton in 1977 where he spent nine seasons before being traded to Vancouver in 1982-83.

In 1984, McDonald won his first Stanley Cup as part of the Oilers team that defeated Detroit Red Wings in six games. A four-time All-Star player, McDonald scored more than 1,000 points during his career which ended after 14 seasons with Vancouver in 1994-95 season. 

He finished his playing days as an assistant coach with both Edmonton and Vancouver until 2007 when he stepped down from this position due to illness.

Lanny has since become a television commentator for CBC Sports covering various leagues across North America including Major Junior hockey.

Jason Spezza is a veteran centre who has played in the NHL for over 18 years.

Allan Stanley

Allan Stanley was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1981. He played hockey for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1950 to 1964 and then spent time with the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Black Hawks, Boston Bruins and St.

Louis Blues before retiring in 1971. Stanley served as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens from 1972 to 1975 and also coached Canada at both World Championships (1973 & 1974) and Olympic Games (1976).

Turk Broda was a successful hockey player and later became a Hall of Fame inductee. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1938 to 1951 and helped them win several championships.

After his playing career ended, he worked as a coach and general manager in the NHL. He died in 1972 at the age of 58 after suffering from health problems for many years. Turk Broda was a goaltender who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1935 to 1943.

He was one of the most successful goaltenders in NHL history, winning three Stanley Cups with the team. After retiring from playing, he served as general manager and coach of the Maple Leafs until his death in 1951.

31. Jack Campbell

Campbell was born in 1992 and is from Port Huron, Michigan. He played for the Idaho Steelheads of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Campbell signed with the Dallas Stars as an undrafted free agent following his two seasons with Idaho. He made his NHL debut on October 12, 2017 against the Minnesota Wild, stopping all 27 shots he faced to help Dallas win 3-0.

In 2018-19, Campbell appeared in 44 games for Dallas recording a 17-14 record with 2 shutouts and a goals against average (GAA) of 2.76. 

His save percentage (.922%) was fifth best among goalies who played at least 40% of their team's minutes during the season; only Henrik Lundqvist (.940%), Pekka Rinne (.923%), Andrei Vasilevskiy (.925%) and John Gibson (.920%) had better stats that year.

On July 1st 2019, it was announced that Jack Campbell had been traded to Calgary Flames in exchange for Dennis Cholowski and 2021 third round pick Jack Campbell is currently playing goalie for Calgary Flames.

32. Bryan McCabe

McCabe was drafted by the New York Islanders in the third round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. McCabe played his entire career with the Islanders, tallying 69 points (10 goals and 59 assists) in 330 games.

In 2007, McCabe signed as a free agent with Vancouver Canucks and he helped them make it to the Stanley Cup Finals that year where they were defeated by Detroit Red Wings. 

After spending two seasons with Vancouver, McCabe joined Chicago Blackhawks for 2008-09 season and recorded 8 goals and 24 assists for 32 points in 82 games before being traded to Toronto Maple Leafs for defenceman Michal Rozsival at the trade deadline of 2009-10 season.

King Clancy was a hockey great and Hall of Fame inductee. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and helped lead them to several championships in the 1930s.

After his playing days were over, he became a coach and led teams to more success. King Clancy passed away in 1986 at the age of 84 after a long career full of accomplishments.

King Clancy was a defenceman who played for the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. King Clancy was known as one of the best defensive players in NHL history. He won two Stanley Cups with Ottawa, in 1927 and 1934, and also helped Toronto to win their first championship in 1947.

After retiring from playing, King Clancy served as coach and general manager of several teams before passing away in 1974 at the age of 76 years old.

After ending his playing career in 2013, Joseph became an analyst for TSN Hockey Night In Canada. Curtis Joseph was born on April 29th 1967 in Keswick, Ontario, Canada to immigrant parents from Nigeria. 

At 5'11" and 190 pounds he developed into one of the strongest goalies in the NHL thanks to his long legs and good positioning; he is also known for being very physical against opponents.

Curtis Joseph began his hockey career as a player-coach with Mississauga Eagles minor hockey team before moving up to junior level with Sarnia Sting where he made over 100 appearances between 1987-1991 scoring 136 points total including 83 goals during this period. 

These impressive totals caught scout's eye leading him to attend major junior at Bowling Green State University instead of returning immediately to Sarnia Sting as many expected him too.

Curtis Joseph's first year at BGSU saw him post 32 wins along with 3 shutouts en route to earning First Team All-American status – after two more years which both yielded 33 wins & 4 shutouts (including winning MVP honors).

St Louis Blues scout Wayne Gretzky signed him following an NCAA Championship game against Boston College – making Curtis Joseph only the second Canadian ever drafted 1st overall by a North American professional sports franchise (after Peter Mahovlich by Detroit Red Wings).

Alexander Mogilny was born on February 18, 1969 in Khabarovsk, Russian SFSR. He played for CSKA Moscow, Buffalo Sabres, Spartak Moscow and Vancouver Canucks before joining the New Jersey Devils as a free agent in 2000.

Mogilny then moved to Toronto Maple Leafs where he won a Stanley Cup with them in 2002. The following year he joined the Montreal Canadiens but left after one season to play for the Russia national team at the 2004 Olympics and 2006 World Championships.

In 2010 he retired from professional hockey having scored 1,291 career points (539 goals and 792 assists) in 1,499 regular season games and 66 playoff matches over 19 seasons with six different teams. 

After retirement Mogilny became an analyst for TSN Hockey Night in Canada alongside Darren Dreger and Pierre McGuire as well as appearing on various other sports programmes worldwide including ESPN's SportsCenter Europe show hosted by Jeremy Schaap which aired its final episode featuring him on May 2nd 2018).

Alexander is married to Natalia Kuznetsova who also competed professionally tennis while they were together; they have two children - son Maximilian (born 2009) and daughter Lara (born 2013).

41. Ilya Mikheyev

Ilya Mikheyev

Ilya Mikheyev is a Russian forward who plays for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. He was born on October 10, 1994 in Omsk, Russia. At 6' 3" and 195 lbs., he is a large player with good physicality and strength.

His left-handed shot makes him an effective goal scorer from further out on the field as well as close up to the net. Ilya has represented his country at both U16 and U20 level before making his senior debut in 2017 against Latvia at the age of 20 years old.

Mikheyev has stated that playing for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is like a second home to him, having grown up supporting them passionately since childhood. Ilya Mikheyev is a Russian professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

He played his first professional season with the Vancouver Canucks in 2012-13, before moving on to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2014-15 and then again with Vancouver in 2015-16. 

In total, he has spent four seasons playing professionally in North America, amassing 41 points (11 goals and 30 assists) in 104 games played.

After splitting last season between Avangard Omsk and HC Sochi of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League postseason tournament, Mikheyev was re-signed by Avangard prior to this year's campaign; he has since scored 18 points (four goals and 14 assists) through 39 games thus far. 

Originally undrafted out of Moscow State University, Mikheyev made his debut with Russia national team at the 2016 World Championships as an overage player aged 24 years old; he went on to help Team Russia finish fourth overall after recording five points (two goals and three assists) over six contests played.

T. J. Brodie is a professional ice hockey player who has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks in his career. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and made his debut with them in 2011-12 season.

In 2013-14 he led all rookie defencemen with 36 points (10 goals, 26 assists) and helped lead Toronto to their first Stanley Cup championship since 1967 as well as becoming an All-Star for the first time in his career. 

The following year he recorded 44 points (13 goals, 31 assists) while helping Calgary make it to the playoffs before being eliminated by San Jose Sharks in six games; during this playoff campaign he also won silver medal with Canada at World Championship tournament held in Russia that same year.

On July 1st 2018, Brodie signed a one-year contract extension with Vancouver worth $2 million dollars. 

Making him eligible for unrestricted free agency at seasons end should he not be retained by Vancouver organization or sign another deal prior to then; on October 3rd of same year however.

Brodie announced that he would retire from professional ice hockey at season’s end due to recurring back injury sustained earlier into 2018–19 campaign which sidelined him indefinitely from playing: “

After careful thought and discussion with my family and medical professionals I have decided this will be my last season playing professionally” -TJBrodie via social media).

43. Zach Hyman

Zach Hyman is a versatile forward who has played in the NHL for six seasons. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2010 and made his debut with them that year.

Hyman has since established himself as one of the most consistent forwards on the team, averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per game during his career so far. In 2017, he signed a three-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs worth $9 million total dollars.

Hyman is married to fellow Canadian tennis player Sabrina Santoro and they have two children together - daughter Hazel (born 2016) and son Leo (born 2018). 

Outside of hockey, Zach enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf and hiking outdoors when he can find time away from training or games.

Zach Hyman is a left wing who shoots right. He was drafted 123rd overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010 and has since played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, and most recently, the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

Zach Hyman started his career playing junior hockey with the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds of the OHL before being traded to Toronto in exchange for Brett Lebda and a second-round pick in 2013.

Zach Hyman made his NHL debut with Toronto during the 2014–15 season and recorded two points (1 goal, 1 assist) over 19 games. 

In 2015–16, Zach Hyman scored 20 goals and added 26 assists for 46 points in 74 games as a rookie with Toronto; this led to him making Team Canada at the World Championships that year where he helped lead them to victory over Sweden in overtime on May 11th, 2016 en route to becoming tournament champions.

On July 1st of 2016, Zach Hyman signed an eight-year contract extension with Columbus worth $32 million dollars ($6 million per year). During his time there he won Stanley Cup 2018 against Vegas Golden Knights.

44. James van Riemsdyk

James van Riemsdyk

James van Riemsdyk is a veteran player in the NHL who has spent most of his career with the Philadelphia Flyers. Van Riemsdyk was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2004 and played for them until he was traded to Philadelphia in 2012.

He has scored over 100 points three times, including a career-high 74 goals in 2013-14 season with the Flyers. Van Riemsdyk is also good at faceoffs, having won more than 60 percent of his draws during his NHL career thusfar. 

Injuries have hampered him somewhat recently, though he still managed to score 23 goals last season despite not being at his best physically.

He will be an important part of the Flyers’ offense next season as they look to challenge for playoff spots once again; however, injury concerns may prevent that from happening completely this time around.

45. Eddie Olczyk

Eddie Olczyk was a towering center who played in the NHL for over 20 years. He was known as one of the most skilled and physical players in the league, possessing excellent puck control and skating ability.

In 2000, he became just the fourth player to score 500 goals and record 1,000 assists in his career. After finishing his playing days with the Philadelphia Flyers, Olczyk went on to become an analyst for Fox Sports Midwest covering hockey and other sports events across North America.

In 2017, he announced his retirement from broadcasting following a 21-year career that saw him cover some of sport's biggest moments both on television and live at arena level himself; including Olympic Gold Medals (1988 & 1992) as well as Stanley Cup Finals (1998 & 2006). 

Now widely regarded as one of hockey's greatest ever legends - Eddie Olczyk is still going strong at 56 years old.

46. David Kämpf

David Kämpf

David Kämpf was born in Czech Republic on 12 January 1995. He is 6'2" tall and weighs 192 pounds (87 kilograms). David played for HC Pardubice of the Czech Extraliga from 2014 to 2018, scoring 30 goals and 97 points in 203 games.

In 2018, he was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent and made his NHL debut on 15 October 2018 against the Calgary Flames. 

David has represented his country at both junior and international level, playing 55 games with the Czech Republic U20 team between 2013 and 2015, winning a gold medal at the World Juniors in 2014.

Silver medals at both the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament in 2016 and 2017, as well as a bronze medal at2018 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A where they finished fourth after losing to Sweden 2-1 in overtime of their final game.

After completing his three-year entry-level contract with Toronto on 1 July 2021, David will become an unrestricted free agent.

So far this season with Toronto's AHL affiliate Fredericton Golden Blades he has scored 3 goals 8 assists for 11 points - good enough for 5th overall among AHL players who have played 10 or more games.

47. Mark Giordano

Giordano is a veteran of the NHL, having played since 2002. He has been with the Toronto Maple Leafs since 2012 and has become one of their most important players.

Giordano is known for his solid defense and ability to contribute offensively as well. He was named an All-Star in 2013 and 2018, respectively, making him one of the best defenders in the league.

Giordano can also play on the penalty kill and score goals from time to time; he is not just a defender. His contract with Toronto expires at the end of the 2022-23 season, so there's still some football left in him.

Giordano often helps lead Canada during international competitions such as World Cups and Olympic Games where he excels both defensively and offensively (once scoring 7 goals in a single game). 

8 As we approach his 40th birthday it will be interesting to see how long he continues playing at an elite level - hopefully many more years.

48. Nicholas Robertson

Nicholas Robertson is a 21-year-old American actor and singer. He was born on September 11, 2001 in Arcadia, California. Nicholas has starred in various Broadway productions including "The Boy Friend" and "Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812".

In 2017 he released his first album called "In the Blood". Nicholas currently resides in New York City with his family. Nicholas Robertson was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs 53rd overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. Nicholas Robertson is a left wing and plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL.

Robertson has played hockey since he was young, and has developed into an excellent player over time. He is known for his speed and skill on ice, which have made him a valuable asset to the Toronto Maple Leafs team.

49. Joey Anderson

Anderson was drafted in the fifth round, 133rd overall by the Binghamton Devils in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. 

He played collegiate hockey with St Cloud State University where he won a national championship in his sophomore year and led them to their first Frozen Four appearance as a junior.

Anderson made his professional debut with the Devils AHL affiliate, the Albany Devils in 2017-2018 season before getting called up to play for New Jersey as an injury Replacement on February 25th, 2019 against Ottawa Senators. 

Anderson scored his first career NHL goal on March 9th, 2019 against Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky which would be enough to secure victory for NJ over Columbus 3-1 that night and earn him. 

Rookie of The Month honors for March alongside teammate Cory Schneider who had been awarded January's honor.

In total Joey has appeared in 36 games (20 starts) scoring 10 goals and 7 assists while averaging 14:27 minutes per game - good enough for ninth best rookie points average among all players who have played at least 20 games this season.

50. Busher Jackson

Busher Jackson

Busher Jackson was a legendary Canadian hockey player who is now in the Hockey Hall of Fame. He was one of the best players of his era and won many awards, including three Stanley Cups.

His career highlight came when he scored 54 goals in 47 games during the 1948-49 season, an NHL record that still stands today. Busher Jackson died from cancer at the age of 55 years old in 1966.

Busher Jackson was one of the greatest left wingers in NHL history. He was a very fast player and could score goals with ease. He played for six different teams during his playing career, including Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Americans, Boston Bruins and Chicago Black Hawks.

Busher Jackson is considered to be one of the most colorful players in NHL history due to his flamboyant style of play. He retired from professional hockey after playing twelve seasons in the league. 

Busher Jackson is currently a member of Hockey Hall of Fame and has been awarded several awards throughout his career, such as Lester B Pearson Award and Hart Memorial Trophy.

51. Michael Bunting

Michael Bunting

Michael Bunting is a 27-year-old center who played hockey for the Scarborough Blues in Ontario. He was drafted by the Tucson Roadrunners in the 5th round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

In his first pro season, he had 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 points in 76 games with Tucson. Michael has also represented Canada at both under-18 (2012) and under-20 (2014) levels, before making his senior debut at age 20 in November 2016 against Russia.

He competed at the 2018 World Championship as part of Team Canada’s top line alongside Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, helping lead them to a silver medal finish after losing to Finland 4–1 in the gold medal game.

Michael Bunting will be looking to build on this successful rookie campaign with the Roadrunners next year, aiming to help them secure their first Calder Cup championship since 1996.

Final Words

. . The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the most storied franchises in professional sports. Founded on November 4, 1917, they have won more championships than any other team in North America, with 27 titles.

Their best players over the years have included such legendary names as Conn Smythe, George Armstrong Custer, Maurice Richard and Wayne Gretzky.
