The TCU Horned Frogs football team is a perennial powerhouse in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Representing Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, the Frogs have a proud history of success on the field, with a long string of bowl game appearances and conference titles.

A member of the Big 12 Conference since 2012, the Horned Frogs play their home games in Amon G. Carter Stadium, and have a passionate fanbase that is committed to supporting their team.

Daryl Washington was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2010 draft. He had a successful career with the team, playing linebacker for six seasons. 

In 2013, he pleaded guilty to felony assault and was suspended from the NFL for one year.

After serving his suspension, Washington signed with the Seattle Seahawks but was released after two months due to off-the-field issues again. He is currently unsigned and is looking for another football opportunity. 

Washington was a First-team All-American in 2009 and went on to play four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

In 2012, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals and had an outstanding season, recording 98 tackles (second most in the NFL) and 18 sacks (tied for third). Washington has also been a Pro Bowler twice, as well as being named Second Team All-Pro both years.

Jerry Hughes is a defensive end for the Houston Texans and was drafted in 2010. Jerry Hughes has played for the Indianapolis Colts (2010-2012) and Buffalo Bills (2013-2021).

In 2018, he had his best season with 11 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Hughes will be 34 years old at the end of this season and could potentially retire after 2022 with the Houston Texans.

Hughes started his professional career with the San Diego Chargers before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2013. In 2017, Hughes signed with the Buffalo Bills and recorded a career-high 14 sacks that year.

Hughes has also been a key player on defense for Team USA during multiple international tournaments including the 2008 Olympics and 2010 World Cup. 

The Jerry Hughes Award is presented annually to an individual who makes significant contributions both on and off of the field in college football It's safe to say that Jerry Hughes will go down as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history.

Aaron Schobel was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2001. He played for them from 2001 to 2009. Aaron Schobel had a successful career with the Bills, amassing 87 sacks and five interceptions during his time there.

He was named All-Pro twice (2005, 2006). In 2008, he signed a six-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts worth $41 million but failed to live up to expectations and retired after one season.

Aaron Schobel is now an analyst for NFL Network and ESPN Deportes covers college football games on weekends alongside play-by-play announcer Jon Gruden.

Aaron has two children and resides in Houston, Texas Aaron Schobel was a dominant defensive lineman for the Boise State Broncos. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL draft and played there for three seasons before signing with the Seattle Seahawks as an unrestricted free agent in 2009. 

He played six seasons with Seattle, earning two Pro Bowl appearances and being named to both first and second teams All-Pro twice apiece.

In 2016, Aaron signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals but retired after just seven games due to injury. Since retiring from football, Aaron has worked as an analyst on Fox Sports 1's College GameDay coverage and is also involved in business ventures outside of sports.

4. Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton is a veteran quarterback who has played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys. 

Dalton was drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with them before signing with the Cowboys in 2020.

He has led his respective teams to playoff appearances each time he's been on board, including a win in Super Bowl XLVIII with Dallas. Dalton is known for his accuracy, ball control, and strong arm which have helped him rack up career stats of 27-36 (.538) as a starter.

In 2019, he signed a contract extension with the Bengals that will keep him there through at least 2022. Dalton is married to actress Katherine Moennig and they have two young children together; daughter Alice Hazelton (born March 2017) and son Noah Charles (born October 2018).

He enjoys playing golf, spending time outside shooting hoops during off-season workouts, and following Katy Tigers sports while living in Texas during the summers Andy Dalton has had a successful NFL career, playing for the Cincinnati Bengals since 2012. 

He’s been named to three Pro Bowls and two First-team All-Madden Teams during his time in the league. Andy Dalton is known for his accuracy and passing ability, ranking among the best quarterbacks in the NFL over the past few years. His 62% completion percentage is a testament to that fact. 

Despite being one of the most consistent players in recent memory, there are still areas of Dalton’s game that he can improve upon – specifically his rushing stats (1,463 yards on 571 attempts) would be an area of focus moving forward.

Andy Dalton will likely continue to play at a high level into his 30s as he looks to lead Cincinnati back toward playoff contention once again next season.

Bob Lilly was a defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys from 1961-1974. He won two Super Bowls with the team and is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Lilly grew up in Oregon and played college football at TCU before being drafted by the Cowboys.

His 14 AFL draft picks are second most all-time behind only Jerry Rice's 19 selections. After retiring as a player, Lilly became an NFL coach, serving as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers (1975–1977) and Kansas City Chiefs (1978–1981). 

In 1988, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis but continued to work until his death on January 17th, 2018 at 83 years old Bob Lilly was an All-Pro linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960s and 1970s.

He was a consensus first-team All-American in 1960, and he helped lead SMU to two Southwest Conference championships during his career. After retiring from football, Lilly became an NFL assistant coach for several years before also becoming a television analyst. 

In 2017, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2017.

6. Trevon Moehrig-Woodard

Mothering is a talented free safety who was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021. Moehrig enjoyed a successful college career at TCU, where he helped lead the Horned Frogs to two conference championships and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.

Mothering has proven himself as one of the premier safeties in the NFL, amassing over 200 tackles and two interceptions during his four-year career with the Raiders. 

Trevon Moehrig-Woodard was one of the most decorated players in Kansas State history. He led his team to back-to-back Big 12 Championships and was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection.

As a junior, he totaled 127 tackles, six sacks, an interception, and three fumble recoveries while helping lead K-State to their second straight conference championship game. 

In 2020 Trevon made big waves with his play during the NFL Draft process by being selected in the third round by the Washington Redskins  |WR DeSean Jackson is also from KSU]. 

With 71 receptions for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns over two seasons with Washington, it's safe to say that Moehrig Woodard has found success at the next level despite not having an elite size or speed like many other top receivers do.

Now as a senior on again rival Kansas Jayhawks football team (he transferred prior to playing against KU), Trevon will look to help lead them back onto the victorious ground after losing last season’s Bedlam matchup 33–28.

7. Greg Townsend

Greg Townsend was born on November 3, 1961, in Los Angeles, California. He attended high school at Dominguez and played college football for TCU. After playing with the Raiders (1983-1993) and Eagles (1994), he signed with the Oakland Raiders in 1997.

He retired from professional football after playing 11 seasons with three different teams. Greg Townsend was a 3-time Pro Bowler and 2-time Super Bowl champion with the 49ers. He played college football at UCLA, where he was an All-American linebacker in 1982.

In 1983, Townsend became the NFL's first rookie to be named First Team All-Pro and led the league with 15 forced fumbles on defense that year. 

After being selected by San Francisco in the first round of the 1983 draft, Townsend spent 14 seasons with the 49ers before retiring after their 1996 season finale due to injury.

8. Joseph Noteboom

Joseph Noteboom was born on June 19, 1995, in Plano, Texas. He attended high school at Plano West High School and played college football for TCU.

He was drafted by the Rams in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and has quickly made an impact on their roster. Noteboom had three sacks as a rookie, and he looks poised to continue making contributions for years to come. 

His skills on the field have helped him earn accolades such as Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowler, so there's no doubt that he's one of the best players in the league currently.

LaDainian Tomlinson is a former running back for the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets. He was an All-Pro in 2006 and 2007 and finished his NFL career with over 12,000 yards from scrimmage.

In 2001, Tomlinson was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the NFL Draft. He spent nine seasons with the team before joining the New York Jets in 2010. 

After leaving football following the 2009 season, Tomlinson began working as a special assistant to head coach Anthony Lynn with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017.

LaDainian married his high school sweetheart on July 14th, 2008; they have one daughter together named Lailah Joy Tomlinson (born December 10th, 2011). LaDainian Tomlinson was an all-around great running back in the NFL for many years. 

He won multiple awards and accolades, including three consecutive First-team All-Pro nominations and two Pro Bowl selections.

However, his career ended abruptly due to a knee injury that kept him out of the league from 2012 to 2014. Fortunately, he has since returned and is currently with the Los Angeles Chargers as an executive.

10. Jason Verrett

Jason Verrett is a talented cornerback who has played in the NFL for six seasons. He was drafted by the Chargers in 2014, but he spent most of his time with the Chargers' rival Los Angeles Rams before moving to San Diego this season.

Jason Verrett is known for his aggressive playstyle and ability to make plays on the ball. 

He finished second on the team with four interceptions this year and is expected to be an important part of San Diego's defense next season. Jason Verrett was a highly touted cornerback prospect coming out of college and he quickly showed his skills in the NFL.

Over six seasons with the San Diego Chargers, Verrett made 128 starts and recorded 562 tackles, seven interceptions, 26 pass deflections, and one defensive touchdown. 

After being traded to the 49ers in 2017, Jason Verrett had an up-and-down season due to injuries. However, he bounced back strong in 2018 and was named First-team All-Pro for his performance.

He also won a Pro Bowl berth that year. With continued success over the next few years, it is likely that Jason Verrett will eventually be enshrined into either the NFL’s Hall of Fame or its Pro Football Hall of Fame Legacy wing as one of the best cornerbacks ever to play the game.

Sammy Baugh was one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history. He played for 14 seasons and led his teams to 10 playoff appearances, winning three Super Bowls (1946, 1957, and 1963).

Sammy Baugh also had a long career as a punter and safety. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1970. Sammy Baugh died on December 17, 2008 at the age of 94 after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for several years.

Sammy Baugh was an American football player who played for the Washington Redskins and Houston Oilers. He was a three-time NFL passing champion, as well as one of the most prolific passers in league history. 

A native of Austin, Texas, Baugh attended Hardin–Simmons University before being drafted by the Redskins in 1937.

He spent six seasons with Washington before moving to the Oilers during World War II. After rejoining Washington in 1945, Baugh led his team to two more Super Bowl championships and remains one of only four players to win multiple titles.

With different teams (alongside Jim Brown, Fran Tarkenton and Jerry Rice). In retirement, Baugh served as head coach at SMU from 1961 until his death in 1965.

Garret Wallow was drafted in the 5th round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. Wallow played linebacker for TCU from 2017-2020, recording 143 total tackles and 2 interceptions.

Wallow is expected to compete for a spot on the Texans' starting lineup this season. Garrett Wallow is a talented linebacker who has shown flashes of brilliance at the NFL level. Wallow was an all-conference selection as a sophomore and first team All-Big 12 as a junior in 2020.

He tallied 35 tackles, one sack, and no interceptions in eight games this season for the Chiefs before being placed on injured reserve on October 15th with an ankle injury. Wallow should provide quality depth for teams looking to bolster their linebacker corps next season and beyond.

Kendre was named First-team All-Big 12 by the conference’s coaches for her senior season and helped lead her team to an 8–4 record, including a victory over No.

10 West Virginia in the 2022 Fiesta Bowl. Kendre has played football at TCU since she arrived on campus as a freshman in 2020. 

She started all twelve games that year and recorded 73 tackles, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery while earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors twice (against UTSA and Kansas). 

In 2021, Kendre led the Horned Frogs with 95 tackles despite missing three games due to injury – including their win over then-No 9 Oklahoma State in Bedlam – en route to being named first-team All-Big 12 once again.

In 2022, Kendre became just the third player ever at TCU to be unanimously selected as both first-team All-American and AP Big Twelve Defensive Player of The Year after leading the Horned Frogs with 128 total tackles (12th most nationally).

Nine pass breakups (tied for 3rd most), four sacks (6th most) and one interception while helping them finish 13–1 overall and ranked #8 in the country by College Football.

Stansly Maponga is a defensive end who played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2013 and 2015. Maponga was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1991. He played college football at Texas Christian.

Maponga was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Maponga signed with the New York Giants in 2015, but was traded to the Dallas Cowboys the following year.

Maponga was signed by the Denver Broncos in 2018. Maponga has appeared in 54 games in the NFL, recording 21 tackles and four sacks. Maponga is a member of the Zimbabwe national team. Maponga is married and has a child.

Stansly Maponga is an accomplished defensive back who has played in the NFL. Maponga was a two-time first-team All-MW selection and was a second-team All-American in 2010. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Davey O'Brien was one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history, winning two NFL championships with the Philadelphia Eagles. O'Brien also played for the Philadelphia Eagles (1939-1940), the Chicago Bears (1941-1943), and the New York Giants (1944-1946).

O'Brien was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969. O'Brien died in 1977 at the age of 60. O'Brien was one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history.

Winning 2 consecutive Pro Bowls and leading the league in passing yards in 1939. O'Brien was also a Heisman Trophy winner and 2-time All-American.

O'Brien was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the TCU Horned Frogs' No. 8 jersey was retired in his honor. O'Brien is one of only a handful of players to have their number retired by both the NFL and NCAA.

Max Duggan is a senior quarterback at TCU and was a two-time Big 12 Conference champion. He finished his career with 2,857 passing yards and 24 touchdowns.

Duggan also rushed for 906 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was a finalist for the Manning Award in 2019. Duggan was a member of the United States national team that competed in the 2019 World Cup.

He was drafted in the eighth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He signed a four-year contract with the Eagles. Duggan is married to Morgan Duggan and has two children. He is a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1968 and 1969. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs in 1970. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1971 and 1972. He played for the Baltimore Colts in 1973 and 1974. He played for the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans) in 1975.

Jim Swink was a halfback for the Texas Christian Horned Frogs from 1957 to 1960 and was a first-team All American in 1958. He was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Bears in the 1957 NFL Draft and played for the Dallas Texans in 1960. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1984.

He currently works as a broadcaster for the Dallas Cowboys. He has two children and five grandchildren. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. 

He has been married to his wife, Peggy, for 58 years. He is a member of the Texas Christian University Athletics Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Pigskin Club of Dallas.

Kenneth Davis was a running back for the Green Bay Packers from 1986 to 1988. He played in 71 games and scored 10 touchdowns. Davis was drafted by the Packers in the 1986 NFL Draft.

Davis played for the Packers for three seasons. He was traded to the New Orleans Saints in 1988. Davis played for the Saints for two seasons. He retired from the NFL in 1990. Davis is a retired running back who played for the Packers, Saints, and Oakland Raiders.

Kenneth Davis was a running back for the Buffalo Bills from 1989 to 1994. He was a three-time All-Pro and was the NFL's leading rusher in 1991. 

Davis was also a very good receiver out of the backfield, with 135 receptions for 878 yards and five touchdowns. He played a big role in the Bills' run to the 1991 AFC Championship Game, and was named the MVP of that season's AFC Championship Game.

Davis was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 1994 and retired after that season. He was inducted into the Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame in 1997.

Jalen Reagor was a highly productive wide receiver for TCU in 2017 and 2018. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2020 draft, but was released before the season started.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai is an offensive guard for the Detroit Lions. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Vaitai attended TCU where he played football and competed in track and field.

He has played in 26 games for the Lions, starting 25 of them. Vaitai is a hard worker who is known for his consistency on the field. He is a member of the NFLPA and is eligible for a contract extension in 2018.

Vaitai is married and has two children. Vaitai is from Haltom City, Texas. He is interested in pursuing a career in law after he retires from football. Vaitai is a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Halapoulivaati Vaitai is an American football offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions.

He was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Vaitai was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and played college football at Utah. 

He was a three-year starter for the Utah Utes and was a First Team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior in 2017. Vaitai has experience at both left and right tackle in the NFL.

He was the Eagles' starting left tackle from the beginning of the 2018 season, until he was injured in Week 14. He was replaced by Ronald Darby. Vaitai was signed by the Lions in free agency on March 14, 2020.

In 2020, Blacklock was a second-round draft pick by the Houston Texans. He played his first season with the team before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2021.

During his time with the Vikings, Blacklock has made an impact on the defensive line, recording 41 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble in his two seasons. Blacklock is considered a versatile player, being able to play both defensive end and defensive tackle.

Jeremy Kerley is a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at TCU. Kerley has had a successful career in the NFL, amassing over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns.

He is a valuable member of the Buffalo Bills team, returning punts and kickoffs. Jeremy Kerley is married and has two children. Jeremy Kerley has been a mainstay on the Jets offense for the past few seasons and is a reliable target for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Kerley has made some big plays over the years, including a 109-yard touchdown catch in Week 10 of the 2014 season against the Bills.

Dykes was the head coach of J. J. Pearce from 1994 to 1995 and then went on to be the head coach of Navarro JC from 1996 to 2000. 

Dykes was then the head coach at Texas Tech from 2001 to 2003. Dykes was the head coach at Arkansas from 2004 to 2007.

Dykes was the head coach at Louisiana Tech from 2008 to 2012. Dykes was the head coach at Texas A&M from 2013 to 2016. Dykes was the head coach at TCU from 2016 to present. Sonny Dykes is a successful head coach who has led multiple teams to championships.

Dykes is noted for his offensive mind and ability to create explosive offenses. Dykes is a proven winner, having led teams to two WAC championships. Dykes is a disciplinarian and a tireless worker. Dykes is well-respected by his peers and will undoubtedly continue his success at TCU.

Ki Aldrich was a standout center and linebacker at Temple University. He was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in the 1939 NFL Draft and played for them from 1939 to 1940.

Aldrich then signed with the Washington Redskins and played for them from 1941 to 1947. He was a two-time All-Pro and was inducted into the Redskins' Hall of Fame in 1966.

Ki Aldrich was also a two-time Pro Bowler and was a key member of the Redskins' 1948 championship team. He retired from playing in 1949. Ki Aldrich was a longtime resident of Temple, Texas, where he died in 1983 at the age of 66.

He was a respected figure in the NFL and was often called on to give advice to young players. Ki Aldrich was an all-American football player in 1938 and one of the greatest players in SWC history. Aldrich was a two-time Pro Bowler and a champion with the New York Giants in 1942.

Aldrich also played in the Cotton Bowl Classic, where he was MVP in 1937. Aldrich was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1976.

Josh Doctson was a highly touted wide receiver coming out of high school. He attended Wyoming and played for the Cowboys before being drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 2016 NFL Draft.

In his two seasons with the Redskins, Doctson recorded over 1,000 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. He was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2019, but has yet to make an impact with the team.

Doctson was a consensus All-American in 2015, and he was a first-team All-Big 12 selection that year. Doctson was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Doctson has been with the Washington Redskins for the entirety of his career.

In his four seasons with the Redskins, Doctson has averaged 69 receptions for 957 yards and six touchdowns. Doctson is expected to be a major part of the Jets' offense in 2020.

Derius Davis is a senior wide receiver and return specialist for the TCU Horned Frogs. Davis was a four-year starter for the Horned Frogs and led the team in receptions each of his final three seasons.

He finished his TCU career with 173 receptions for 2,877 yards and 19 touchdowns. Davis was named to the All-Big 12 First Team twice and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award in 2017. Davis was selected by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He made his NFL debut in Week 1 of the season and finished the year with seven receptions for 62 yards. Davis is a hard-working player who is looking to improve his skills each and every day. He is a natural return specialist and is one of the top threats in the Lions’ offense.

Trevone Boykin was undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft but signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He was released by the Seahawks in September 2016 and signed with the Galgos de Tijuana of the Liga Mexicana de Fútbol.

He led the LMP in passing yards in the 2017 LMP season. He was named the Liga MX Offensive Player of the Year in 2018. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2019. Trevone Boykin is a talented quarterback who has had success in the NCAA level.

He is a native of Dallas, Texas. Esteban Avila is a two-time Consensus First-Team All-American and a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft.

Avila was a consensus first-team All-American in 2022 and a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection. Avila was a dominant pitcher for TCU and was a 2x first team All-Big 12 selection. Esteban Avila was a dominant pitcher at South Grand Prairie High School, where he won two state championships.

The TCU Horned Frogs football team is a perennial powerhouse in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl . . The Horned Frogs have produced some of the best players in college football history and continue to do so today.

Some of the most decorated players in TCU history include running back LaDainian Tomlinson, quarterback Andy Dalton, and defensive end Devonte Fields. The Horned Frogs have won more than 60 games and reached the BCS National Championship Game twice in the past decade, most recently in 2014.

Head coach Gary Patterson and his team are perennial contenders and are sure to continue to produce dominant football players for years to come.
