Swedish football has been around for over a century, having first been introduced in the early 1900s. Today, the top tier of this competitive sport is the Allsvenskan, which was founded in 1924 and consists of 16 teams.

As the top tier of the Swedish football league system, Allsvenskan operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Superettan. Every year, from late March or early April to the beginning of November, all 16 teams meet twice during the 30-match season in order to determine the champion.

With 240 matches per season, Allsvenskan is an exciting and thrilling league with an ever-growing fanbase.

Zlatan Ibrahimović is an award-winning striker who currently plays for AC Milan. He was born in Sweden and started his career with Malmö BI before transferring to FBK Balkan in 1995.

In 1999, he moved to Malmo FF where he enjoyed great success scoring over 150 goals in 200 appearances. 

Zlatan Ibrahimović joined AC Milan in 2009 and has since helped the club win several trophies including two Serie A titles and a Champions League trophy in 2016/17 season Ibrahimović is a superstar and one of the best players in the world.

He has won countless awards, including five Ballon d'Or trophies, three Premier League titles, two La Liga crowns, and one Champions League title. 

Ibrahimović began his career at Malmö FF before moving to Ajax in 2001. In 2004 he joined Juventus where he quickly became a key player on their championship-winning team. 

After leaving Italy, Ibrahimović signed for Barcelona where he helped lead them to multiple cups and league championships before transferring to AC Milan in 2011.

There was some speculation that Ibrahimović would leave Milan after failing to agree on terms on a new contract but instead, he re-joined PSG for an additional two seasons in 2016 and 2017 respectively. 

As of 2019, Ibrahimovic is currently playing for LA Galaxy where he continues to be one of the most dominant players in MLS history. 

With over 100 international caps under his belt as well as goals scored throughout Europe's major leagues, it is safe to say that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will go down as one of football's all-time greats.

Gunnar Nordahl was a Swedish striker who spent his entire professional career with Italian club AC Milan. 

He is considered one of the greatest strikers in football history, and holds several records including most goals scored in a European Cup (25), Serie A (217) and all-time for both clubs combined (338).

Nordahl started his career at local side Hörnefors IF, before moving to Degerfors IF ahead of World War II. After two seasons he joined IFK Norrköping where he won back-to-back Swedish championships in 1947 and 1948. 

In 1950, Gunnar Nordahl moved abroad to join Italian giants AC Milan where he helped them win three successive league titles between 1951 and 1953 as well as the 1952–53 European Cup Winners' Cup.

He also reached the final of the 1957 Copa del Generalísimo but lost out to Real Madrid Fútbol Club de España. Following spells with Roma and Karlstad BIK during 1958–1960.

Gunnar Nordahl rejoined AC Milan for a second spell which lasted until 1965; this time helping them claim their fifth domestic title in 1963 and reach another European Cup semi-final that year before losing out again to Barcelona FC on aggregate.

Internationally, Gunnar Nordahl represented Sweden at numerous tournaments including the 1954 FIFA World Cup where they made it all the way to the quarterfinals before being knocked out by Uruguay.

Euro 1968where Sweden finished third after beating Yugoslavia 2–1 in an epic semifinal match held at Wembley Stadium; UEFA Euro 1984where they were eliminated from competition following a 4–0 home loss against Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam.

The 1990 FIFA World Cup where Sweden placed fourth after reaching their first ever knockout stage ;and The 2002 FIFA World Cup where they narrowly missed qualification by finishing fifth place behind Germany , Turkey , Croatia & Denmark.

On 15 September 1995, aged 73 years old, Nils Gunnar Nordahl died suddenly while on holiday in Alghero, Italy.

Henrik Larsson is a Swedish professional footballer, who currently plays for Manchester United. He has played in the Premier League for both Celtic and Barcelona, as well as periods on loan at Helsingborgs IF and Manchester United.

Henrik Larsson was born on September 20th 1971 in Helsingborg, Sweden. At the age of 17 he joined Högaborgs BK where he would score 64 goals over two seasons before transferring to Helsingborgs IF. 

In 1992, Larsson transferred to Feyenoord where he scored 101 goals over six years including 26 during his time with Feyenoord which earned him selection to play for Sweden at Euro 96 that year.

After leaving Feyenoord in 2004, Larsson signed for Celtic becoming one of their most prolific strikers ever with 174 goals in total across seven seasons with the Glasgow club; this included winning three Scottish Premier Leagues (2005-07).

Two Scottish Cups (2003-05) and one Scottish League Cup (2004). In 2006, after nine successful years at Celtic Park transfer speculation began linking him with some of Europe's biggest clubs including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It was Manchester United who secured his services on a season long loan deal later that year; this move proved incredibly successful as he helped them win four trophies - FA Cup (2007), Champions League (2008), European Super Cup (2008) and Intercontinental Cup (2009).

Upon returning to Old Trafford from his loan spell at Helsingborgs IF in 2007, rumours circulated once again linking him with Spanish giants Real Madrid but ultimately nothing came of these reports leading.

Many pundits to believe that something had held back negotiations between the two sides until just days before signing officially became official on July 1st 2009 when Barça matched United's £30 million valuation.

On June 30th 2014 it was announced by Manchester united that Henrik Larrson had retired from football due to an ACL injury sustained while playing against Chelsea earlier that month.

However following surgery,[4] Larrson made a return briefly representing Man Utd A team during their pre-season tour of America early 2015 scoring once against Club Tijuana U23.[5][6][7][8] * Senior career includes appearances prior to 1997.

Carl Starfelt was born on 1 June 1995 in Stockholm, Sweden. He is a centre-back and currently plays for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. Carl has represented Sweden at youth levels, but made his senior debut for Rubin Kazan in 2016.

Carl signed a new contract with Celtic ahead of the 2020 season and is looking to establish himself as one of Scotland's top defenders. Carl Starfelt is a talented young footballer who has enjoyed success with both his club team IF Brommapojkarna and the Swedish national side.

He first caught the eye of scouts while playing for U19s Sweden, and he made his senior debut in 2014. Since then, Carl has gone on to make over 100 appearances for Brommapojkarna across all competitions, as well as scoring a number of goals.

Torbjörn Nilsson is a retired Swedish striker who played for Jonsereds IF, IFK Göteborg, and PSV Eindhoven during his career. Torbjörn Nilsson was born on July 9th 1954 in Västerås, Sweden.

After playing for Jonsereds IF from 1966 to 1970, he signed with IFK Göteborg in 1975 where he spent the next 14 years of his career. During his time at IFK Göteborg, Torbjörn won three Swedish championships (1975–1976; 1977–1978; 1981), as well as two Dutch titles (1977; 1978).

He also reached the UEFA Cup Final in 1980 but lost to Liverpool Fc 0-1 after going down 2-0 first leg home and 3-1 away. 

In 1982, Torbjörn joined PSV Eindhoven where he would spend five years before retiring at the end of 1988 season aged 36 due to an injury sustained while playing against Feyenoord Rotterdam which ruled him out for six months including Euro 1988 tournament.

After retirement from football, Torbjorn started working as assistant manager at Örebro SK between 1990 and 1992 before becoming head coach of Skelleftea AIK 1995 – 1998 where he stayed until 2002.

When he left to become assistant manager at Malmö FF alongside Lars Lagerbäck until 2006 when both resigned amid rumours that they were planning on taking over Djurgårdens IS job which eventually went to Klubbdanser Björne Persson.

Ken Sema is a Swedish midfielder who currently plays for Watford. He has previously played for IFK Norrköping and was part of the Sweden under-21 side that competed in the 2013 European Championship.

Anel Ahmedhodžić is a 23-year old centreback who currently plays for Sheffield United. He began his career with Malmö FF and played at youth level for Nottingham Forest before signing for the Blades in 2016.
