47. Ville Husso

Goaltender

Ville Husso Career

  • 2011–12: HIFK

  • 2013–14: HCK
  • 2014–15: HIFK

  • 2016–17: Chicago Wolves
  • 2016–17: Missouri Mavericks

In 54 games played between Liiga and AHL Hamilton Bulldogs during his rookie season, Husso posted a 26-21-7 record with 4 shutouts and a .915 save percentage before suffering an ankle injury in November that ended his campaign prematurely.

After recording 9 wins including 6 straight at one point en route to clinching first place in KalPa's Division championship playoff series against HPK.

His two seasons playing professionally have shown marked improvement as evidenced by being named starter for Team Finland at this year’s World Junior Championship where they reached their fourth consecutive final tournament but lost to Canada 5 goals to 0 (in game 7).

The team also included players such as Jesse Puljujarvi ( Edmonton Oilers), Patrik Laine ( Winnipeg Jets) and Sebastian Aho ( Carolina Hurricanes).

Ville has been described as “a big kid who plays like he is smaller” due partly to excellent agility which makes him very difficult to beat from close range; however.

There are some concerns about how quickly he can physically mature into a top-flight goalie capable of handling more shots than average per game over an extended period (~60+) while maintaining elite-level performance day in and day out.

When it matters most – crucial especially if you want your team defending its Stanley Cup title or vying for Olympic gold medals.
