Oklahoma has also produced some of the most successful basketball players in the world, such as Blake Griffin, Trae Young, and Alvan Adams. Buddy Hield is a talented shooting guard and small forward who was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the 2016 NBA draft. Hield has been impressive for the Pelicans throughout his rookie season, averaging 19 points, four rebounds, and two assists per game.

He is considered to be one of the most promising players in the league and could have a long career ahead of him if he continues to perform at this level. Hield's mother is Bahamian and his father is American; he was born in Freeport but raised in Wichita, Kansas before moving to Oklahoma as a teenager.

As an amateur player, Buddy played for Sunrise Christian Academy (Wichita) before attending college at Oklahoma where he won numerous awards including. 

Second Team All-American honors as a senior in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season with averages of 22 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal per game while leading the Sooners to their first-ever Final Four appearance under head coach Lon Kruger.

Wayman Tisdale was born on June 9, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas. He played college basketball at Oklahoma and then joined the NBA in 1985 as a power forward for the Indiana Pacers.

In 1997 he retired from professional basketball after playing with several teams including the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers. 

Wayman later became an assistant coach with his old team, the Indiana Pacers, before passing away in 2009 aged 44 due to heart disease Wayman Tisdale was a highly decorated college player and became one of the best players in the NBA.

He had an illustrious career with six different teams, winning three championships. Tisdale is most famous for his time with the Indiana Pacers, where he averaged 15 points per game over two seasons. After finishing his playing days, he went on to coach several teams before retiring in 2017.

Young was born on September 19, 1998 in Lubbock, Texas. Young played college basketball at Oklahoma and was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018. Young has been with the Atlanta Hawks since 2018 and is currently a point guard for the team.

Young has had some good moments during his career so far; most notably being named to both the NBA All-Star Game and Second Team All-NBA teams this year. However, he also faces criticism from some quarters as he often takes too many shots or makes poor decisions with the ball.

Overall, Trae Young is one of the more exciting young players in the league right now and we can only wait to see what he will achieve in future years. Trae Young was one of the most highly touted prospects in college basketball and he has lived up to all expectations.

He is a dynamic scorer and passer who can take over games. Young led Oklahoma to an undefeated season and an NCAA Championship appearance before being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the seventh pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. 

Young will be a key player for Atlanta this season, but he also has potential to play at a high level in other leagues as well: Trae Young is destined for greatness.

Mookie Blaylock was born in Garland, Texas on March 20th 1967. He attended high school at Garland (Garland, TX) and then College at Midland (1985-1987).

Mookie played professional basketball for the New Jersey Nets from 1989 to 2002. In his NBA career he averaged 10 points per game and 1,667 assists over an 11-year span.

After retiring from basketball Mookie started a successful clothing line called "Mookies" which is still going strong today. Mookie Blaylock was a highly skilled big man in the 1990s who spent most of his career with the New Jersey Nets and Atlanta Hawks.

He won two All-Star games and four All-Defensive team nods during his time in the NBA, as well as being named an all-star second team player twice. Mookie also had success against other teams, averaging 13 points and six assists per game over his career while stealing two balls per game.

After leaving the NBA, he played overseas for a number of years before retiring from professional basketball altogether in 2002.

5. Gar Heard

Gar Heard was a power forward who played in the NBA from 1970 to 1981. He attended high school at Ethel Knight in LaGrange, Georgia and then went on to play college ball at Oklahoma.

The Seattle SuperSonics drafted him with the 40th overall pick in the 1970 draft, and he would go on to spend his entire career with them. He scored 24 points per game over his 8-year career and won an NBA championship with the Suns in 1976.

After retiring from playing, Gar became a head coach for various teams across America before eventually retiring again in 2001. Gar Heard is a former professional basketball player who played in the 1980s and 1990s. 

He was most noted for his time with the San Diego Clippers, where he served as coach from 1987 to 1993.

He also spent time coaching with the Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers before retiring in 1997. After retirement, Gar worked as an assistant coach for several teams including Detroit Pistons (2000-2001), Atlanta Hawks (2004-2005) and Washington Wizards (2006-2007).

In 2007, Gar became head coach of Highland Park High School's varsity boys' basketball team which he led to two consecutive Texas State Championships in 2008 and 2009.

6. Brady Manek

Brady Manek was born in Edmond, Oklahoma on September 4th 1998. He played collegiately for the Harrah Wildcats and made an immediate impact as a freshman averaging 19 points and 6 rebounds per game.

In his sophomore season he averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists per game to help lead the Wildcats to their first ever NBL championship. 

Brady Manek entered the draft but decided against going professional and signed with Perth Wildcats ahead of the 2022 season where he has continued his impressive play averaging 18 points and 5 rebounds per game in 24 games so far this year.

Brady Manek was a standout player for the Oklahoma Sooners during his time there. He played college basketball at North Carolina and is considered one of the top prospects in this year's draft class. 

Brady Manek has already started playing in the NBA, appearing in five games with the Perth Wildcats this season so far. He is an excellent shooter who can score from anywhere on the court, making him a dangerous threat to defenses no matter where he is located.

Brady Manek will be looking to continue impressing scouts and make an impactful career in both the NBA and international leagues after graduation next year.

7. Grant Sherfield

Grant Sherfield is a talented point guard for the Oklahoma Sooners. He was born in Wichita, Kansas and played high school basketball at North Crowley. Grant has shown great promise as a freshman with the Sooners, averaging 10 points and 4 assists per game.

Grant will be playing his sophomore season this year with the Sooners and is looking to take his game to new heights in 2017-2018. 

Grant Sherfield is a 2020 graduate of Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas. He played soccer for the academy and was named to the First-team All-Mountain West in 2021.

Grant signed with Wichita State after his freshman year of college, and will play there next season. Grant has already made an impact at Wichita State, being named Third-team All-Mountain West as a sophomore in 2022 before becoming a first team selection as a junior in 2021. 

As one of only two freshmen on the 2021 Mountain West Newcomer of the Year squad, Grant’s future looks very bright both on and off the field.

Webster played high school basketball at Carl Albert in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He went on to play college ball at Oklahoman before being selected by the Miami Heat in the 1994 NBA draft.

Webster spent four seasons with the team and averaged 7.8 points per game over his career. In 2000, Webster signed with the Atlanta Hawks but only played a single season with them before retiring from professional basketball later that year.

Today, Webster is an assistant coach for Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's basketball team and also works as a commentator for NCAA Division I Men's Basketball tournaments across America on Fox Sports 1 and TNT). Jeff has two children - daughter Kiari (born 2003) and son Jaden (born 2005).

Ryan Humphrey played college basketball at Notre Dame and was drafted in the 2002 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. He has since spent time coaching with the Fighting Irish, most recently as an assistant coach.

Humphrey is also a member of Mensa and has competed in several IQ tests. Humphrey played in the NBA for four seasons, most notably with the Orlando Magic. 

Humphrey has since embarked on a successful coaching career, first as an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies and then most recently as head coach of Club La Unión in Argentina.

Alvan Adams was born on July 19, 1954 in Lawrence, Kansas. Adams attended Putnam City High School and played for the Oklahoma City Thunderbirds. Adams was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 1975 NBA draft and played for the team until 1988.

Adams was a three-time All-Star and won a championship with the Suns in 1988. Adams is a retired lawyer and is currently a basketball broadcaster. Adams has two children and two grandchildren. Alvan Adams was one of the most decorated college basketball players of all time.

Adams was a 3-time First-team All-American and 3-time Big Eight Player of the Year. Adams was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 1976 NBA draft and went on to play 14 seasons in the NBA. Adams is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Phoenix Suns’ Ring of Honor.

Adams is the all-time leading scorer at the University of Oklahoma. Adams is the father of current NBA player Reggie Adams. Adams is currently an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder. 

Adams has worked with several youth basketball programs across the country. Adams is a tireless ambassador for the sport of basketball and its importance to society.

King was a high school basketball standout from Lawton, Oklahoma and was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 1989 NBA draft. He played for the Bulls for six seasons before joining the Minnesota Timberwolves for one season.

King is remembered for his powerful dunks and aggressive play on the court. He was a three-time All-Star and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. King has since pursued a career in broadcasting and is currently an NBA analyst for ESPN.

Stacey King played professional basketball in the United States and Europe for over a decade, amassing championship rings along the way. 

After retiring from the sport, King became a successful coach, leading teams to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons. In 2001, King was named head coach of the Rockford Lightning, leading them to the playoffs in their inaugural season.

King has also served as an assistant coach for the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, among others. King was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. Stacey King is a tireless worker in the basketball community, routinely giving back to his alma mater, the University of Oklahoma.

Griffin was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA draft. Griffin played for the Phoenix Suns from 2009 to 2016. Griffin has played in the NBA for nine seasons. Griffin was a key player for the Phoenix Suns during his playing career.

Griffin has won two NBA championships with the Phoenix Suns. Griffin is a two-time all-star and three-time All-NBA selection. Taylor Griffin was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA draft. Griffin played for the Iowa Energy from 2009-2010.

Griffin played for the Liège Basket from 2010-2011. Griffin played for the Dakota Wizards from 2012-2015. Griffin played for the Santa Cruz Warriors from 2015-2016. Griffin was traded to the Pallacanestro Trapani in 2016. Griffin won the NBA D-League championship with the Trapani in 2017.

Brent Price was a point guard in the NBA for ten seasons, playing for the Washington Bullets, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Orlando Magic. Price was drafted by the Washington Bullets in the 1992 NBA Draft.

He played for the Bullets, 76ers, and Mavericks before joining the Magic in 2004. Price averaged 13.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game during his ten-year career. Price was a part of the Mavericks team that made it to the NBA Finals in 2003.

He also appeared in the 2001, 2002, and 2004 NBA Playoffs. Price is a two-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2003. 

Price is currently the president of the Oklahoma City Thunder and a commentator for Turner Sports. Brent Price was a standout player at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a two-time First-Team All-Big Eight selection.

Price was drafted 20th overall by the Washington Bullets in the 1992 NBA Draft. He played three seasons with the Bullets before being traded to the Houston Rockets. 

Price played six seasons with the Rockets, averaging 14.3 points and 5.9 assists per game. He was traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies in 2001 before being traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2002. Price played one season with the Sacramento Kings before retiring in 2004.

He has since worked as a basketball analyst for television and radio. Price was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2007.

Bowie was a shooting guard and small forward in the NBA for 13 seasons. He played for the Quad City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. Bowie was a three-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA selection.

He won the NBA Finals with the Rockets in 1997. Bowie is the father of two sons and has two grandchildren. Anthony Bowie played college basketball at Rice University before being drafted in the first round of the 1989 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets.

Bowie spent 9 seasons with the Rockets, and was part of their championship teams in the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. He was traded to the Varese Grizzlies in 1991, and then to the Quad City Thunder in 1996. He then signed with the Orlando Magic and played for them for 3 seasons before joining the Milano club in 1998.

He then moved to the New York Knicks for the 1998-1999 season. Bowie then joined Žalgiris Kaunas in 1999, and helped them win the Lithuanian League championship. 

He then moved to Fortitudo Bologna in 2001, and helped them win the Italian League championship. Bowie then moved to AEK Athens in 2002, and helped them win the Greek Cup.

He then retired after playing for Near East in the 2003-2004 season.

He was drafted in 1980 by the Houston Rockets and played for them until 1989. After his playing career, he became a head coach in the NBA, first with the Portland Trail Blazers, and then with the Utah Jazz.

He is currently the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. Terry Stotts began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2002. He was named the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers in 2012 and has since led the team to a number of playoff appearances.

In 2017, he was named the NBA Coach of the Year after guiding the Trail Blazers to their first-ever championship. He was born on March 10, 1966 in Spokane, Washington. Terry Stotts is a graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane, where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in business.

Nate Erdmann was an all-star player in the NBA for eight seasons, most notably with the Dallas Mavericks. Erdmann was born in 1973 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and initially played high school basketball at Portales (Portales, New Mexico).

Erdmann attended Washington State for two years, then transferred to Hutchinson CC in 1994. He averaged 21.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in two seasons with the Wildcats. Erdmann was drafted 56th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1997 NBA draft.

He played for the Mavericks for eight seasons, averaging 14.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Erdmann was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004, and then to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007. 

He retired from the NBA in 2009. Erdmann has since pursued a career in coaching, most notably with the Mavericks' developmental team and the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League.

Tony Crocker was originally a high school basketball player from William H. Taft and Earl Warren in San Antonio, Texas. Crocker played collegiately at Oklahoma and was drafted in the 2010 NBA draft without being drafted by any team.

Crocker has played in the LNB Pro A, EuroCup, and NBA D-League. Crocker is currently a shooting guard and small forward for Metropolitans 92 in the LNB Pro A. Crocker has averaged 10.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in his career.

Crocker is married and has two children. Tony Crocker is a Hungarian-Australian professional basketball player who has played in the Turkish Basketball League since the 2014-2015 season. 

Crocker was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1990. He started playing basketball at an early age and attended a basketball academy in his home country.

Marshall was born in Seattle, Washington on December 22, 1948. Marshall was a prominent American actor and comedian. Marshall appeared in a number of television and movie roles throughout his career.

Marshall died on January 5, 2023 at the age of 74. Marshall is best known for his roles in the television series "The Office" and "The Mindy Project". Marshall was a popular figure in the Seattle area, and was well-known for his charitable work.

Vester Marshall was a high school basketball player who went on to play college ball at Oklahoma. After not being drafted in the 1970 NBA draft, Marshall played for the Seattle SuperSonics in 1973-1974. Marshall is best known for his time with the SuperSonics, where he averaged 7.9 points per game.

Marshall later played for the Denver Nuggets and Detroit Pistons, retiring in 1996. Vester Marshall was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. 

Marshall is currently an assistant coach with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA D-League. Vester Marshall is married and has two children. Marshall is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

29. Ryan Minor

Ryan Minor was born on January 5, 1974 in Canton, Ohio. Minor made his MLB debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 1998. Minor played for the Orioles, the Montreal Expos, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays over the course of his career.

Minor retired in 2007 after playing in 357 MLB games. Minor currently works as a baseball analyst for Fox Sports. Minor was a part of the American League East-winning Orioles team in 2002. Minor was also a member of the Expos team that reached the playoffs in 2001 and 2004.

Minor is a third baseman by trade, but has also played first, second, and shortstop in his career. Minor is a two-time All-Star and has won a Silver Slugger Award. Minor was drafted by the Orioles in the 5th round of the 1998 MLB Draft. Minor made his MLB debut with the Orioles in 2001.

Minor played for the Orioles until 2004. Minor then signed with the Montreal Expos. Minor played for the Montreal Expos until 2006. Minor then signed with the Texas Rangers. Don Sidle was a high school basketball All-American and a three-time NCAA champion at Oklahoma. He was drafted by the San Francisco Warriors in the 1968 NBA draft and played for them for four seasons.

He was part of the team that won the 1972 NBA championship. He died of a heart attack in 1987 at the age of 40. Sidle played college ball at Indiana University, where he was a two-time first-team all-conference selection.

Sidle was drafted by the Miami Floridians in the 1968 NBA draft and spent three seasons with the team. In 1970, Sidle was drafted by the Denver Rockets and spent two seasons with the team. In 1971, Sidle was drafted by the Indiana Pacers and spent the next two seasons with the team.

In 1972, Sidle was drafted by the Memphis Pros and spent the next two seasons with the team. Sidle retired from playing in 1972. 

Sidle was inducted into the Indiana University Hall of Fame in 1985. Sidle currently works as an assistant coach with the Pacers. Sidle is a two-time NBA All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 1971.

Willie Rogers is also one of just a few players to have won an NBA championship and a gold medal at the Olympic Games. He retired from the NBA in 1988 after playing for 17 seasons. Since retirement, Willie Rogers has worked as a television commentator and has also served as a basketball coach.

Willie Rogers was born in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1945. He attended James Madison High School in Dallas, Texas and played college basketball for Oklahoma. 

Willie Rogers was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1968 NBA draft, and spent the next 17 seasons with the team. He was a key part of four NBA championships with the 76ers, and also won a gold medal with the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Willie Rogers retired from professional basketball in 1988 and has since worked as a television commentator and coach.

Grace is married and has two children. Grace is a fitness enthusiast and avid golfer. Grace was a point guard who played in the NBL for Perth Wildcats and Atlanta Hawks. 

He was a four-time champion and two-time MVP. Grace was born in New Zealand and played college ball in the United States. Grace was drafted by the Perth Wildcats in 1988. He won four championships with the club and was also named MVP in two grand finals.

Grace signed with the Atlanta Hawks in 1993 and helped the team to two more championships. He retired from playing in 2005. Grace is a two-time Australian Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and was also named to the NBL's 25th Anniversary Team.

Isaiah Cousins was born in Mount Vernon, New York on March 13, 1994. He played college basketball at Oklahoma, where he was a two-time First Team All-Big 12 selection.

In the 2016 NBA draft, Cousins was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 59th overall pick. In his rookie season, he averaged 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

In the 2018-19 season, Cousins led the Kings to the playoffs, where they were eliminated in the first round. In 2019, he signed with French club Cholet. Cousins is a 6'7", 245-pound forward who played collegiately at Kentucky.

Cousins is a versatile player who can play both inside and out, and is known for his scoring ability. In his two seasons with the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development League, he averaged 19.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

Cousins was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. He made his NBA debut on November 12th, 2018, recording five points, three rebounds, and one steal in 14 minutes off the bench. Cousins is signed through the 2020-21 season with the Utah Jazz.

In his first season with the Utah Jazz, Cousins averaged 7.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 27.4 minutes per game. Tiny Gallon was born in Vallejo, California in 1991. He attended high school at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Gallon played college basketball at Oklahoma and was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2010 NBA Draft.

He played in the NBA for six seasons, most notably with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors. Gallon was traded to the Detroit Pistons in January 2018. He retired from the NBA in May 2018. Gallon is currently an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He has two children. Tiny Gallon is one of the most decorated players in the history of the NBA, winning two championships with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Milwaukee Bucks. Tiny Gallon is a 6'3" forward who played basketball for Maine Red Claws in the NBL China and for the Atléticos de San Germán in the Liga ACB.

Gallon was drafted in the third round of the 2013 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He has also played for the Texas Lone Star Strikers in the NBA Development League and the Delaware 87ers in the NBA.

McCalister was a three-time All-American at Oklahoma and was the 1987 NBA draft's 47th overall pick. McCalister played nine seasons in the NBA, all with the Clippers.

He was a key part of the team's success in the early 1990s, and was named an All-Star in 1992 and 1993. McCalister later had a successful career as a coach, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to the playoffs in 2008 and the Indiana Pacers to the playoffs in 2013.

McCalister is the father of two children, and he currently coaches the Thunder's G-League team. Tim McCalister started his professional basketball career in 1987 with the Pensacola Tornados. He was drafted in the first round of the 1988 qNBA draft by the Charleston Gunners.

He played for the Purefoods Hotdogs, Jersey Shore Bucs, and Tulsa Fast Breakers before joining the Rapid City Thrillers. 

McCalister was a first-team All-Big Eight selection in 1987 and 1989. He played in the NBA for the Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Orlando Magic.

McCalister retired in 2002 after playing 10 seasons in the NBA. He has since worked as a basketball coach at the high school and collegiate level. McCalister was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

Kermit Holmes was born on March 27, 1969 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Kermit Holmes is the assistant coach for Norman High School. In 2001, he was the assistant coach for Midwest City High School. He has also been an assistant coach for Lamar University.

Holmes has won two championships with the Oklahoma City Cavalry and was an all-star. He played for the Westchester Stallions and the Rockford Lightning. He is currently the assistant coach for Norman High School.

Ryan was traded to the Brose Baskets of the German Bundesliga in February of 2017. He averaged 11.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in 36 games for the Baskets.

Ryan signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in September of 2017. He averaged 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 9 games for the Grizzlies. Ryan was waived by the Grizzlies in October of 2017.

Chelsea Dungee is an assistant coach for the Troy Trojans in the Sun Belt Conference. Dungee attended Sapulpa High School in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Dungee was a standout player at Oklahoma and was a redshirt freshman during her time with the Sooners.

Dungee was a first-team All-Big 12 selection as a junior and earned second-team All-American honors as a senior. Dungee was drafted by the Dallas Wings in the 2021 WNBA draft, but she decided to stay in college and play for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Dungee has helped the Razorbacks make it to the NCAA Tournament in each of her two seasons with the team. Dungee plans to continue her basketball career after graduation and hopes to eventually become a head coach. Dungee is married and has two children.
