McDavid has quickly become one of the best players in the league and is considered to be a superstar.

He is currently playing for the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid is a natural scorer who can light up the scoreboard with his amazing skills on the ice. 

He has already won numerous awards and accolades during his short career so far, including being named Rookie of The Year in 2015 and 2017 as well as MVP of The 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Connor Mc David led all rookies with 67 goals and 113 points during the 2015-2016 season which earned him a nomination for The Calder Trophy as Rookie of The Year.

Sidney Crosby is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who currently plays with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL). 

He was drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005 and has won four consecutive Stanley Cups with them, making him one of only six players to have three or more championship titles with one team.

Crosby also holds numerous NHL records, including most points (1,087), most assists (927), and most goals (801). In 2014-15 he led the league in scoring for a record seventh time and was awarded his third Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP of the NHL season. 

Crosby is considered to be one of the greatest players ever and has been honored with many accolades including being named Sportsman of The Year twice by The Globe And Mail newspaper. 

Winning an Olympic gold medal as part of Canada's national men's ice hockey team at Sochi 2014, becoming captain of Team Canada for two periods in 2018.

In 2018, he won his fourth Hart Memorial Trophy as NHL MVP Award making him only the second player after Wayne Gretzky to win four awards consecutively on one team (the other being Mario Lemieux).

Alexander Ovechkin is a professional ice hockey player who played for the Washington Capitals of the NHL. He was drafted first overall in 2004 and has since become one of the game's most dominant players. 

Alexander Ovechkin has been a key part of two Stanley Cup-winning teams (2010 with Washington, 2012 with Dynamo Moscow), as well as several other playoff appearances and championships.

Known for his powerful shot and goal-scoring ability, Alexander Ovechkin is also known for his leadership qualities on and off the ice, having served as captain of both the Capitals and Russia national teams at various points in his career. 

Alexander Ovechkin will be 33 years old at the end of this season; still young enough to play at an elite level if he chooses to continue playing professionally.

Auston is the son of former NHL player and assistant coach Brian Matthews and Olympic ice dancer Kaitlyn Weaver. His father also played for Team USA at the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Auston first started playing hockey while he was just two years old, with his brother Andrew helping him out in their backyard rink near their home in Scottsdale. 

By the time he was four, he had started playing organized hockey with a travel team called The Jr Canadians Hockey Club - which would later become his junior club when he moved to Toronto to play with the Maple Leaf's organization's minor league affiliate, the Mississauga Steelheads (now known as the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds).

In March 2015, Auston recorded an incredible accomplishment by becoming one of only five players ever to score 50 goals and add 50 assists within a calendar year in junior hockey (the other four beings. 

Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Patrick Kane, and Nathan MacKinnon), earning him honours such as Canadian Hockey League Player of Year and OHL First-Team All-Star selection along the way during that impressive season. 

Making him eligible for entry into Canada's National Junior Team Program heading into the 2016 World Junior Championships where he led all rookies with six points (two goals + four assists) en route to winning the bronze medal after losing the semifinal game against Russia 2–1.

Auston became not only the best rookie but also the leading scorer among all NHLers scoring 14 points through 13 games during the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs and reaching 19 points overall before finally winning.

Nathan Mackinnon is known for his speed and skill on ice - making him an incredibly dangerous player to opposing teams. 

In 2020 he will be entering his fourth season with the Avalanche and looks set to continue his impressive form long into the future.

Nathan MacKinnon was drafted 1st overall by the Colorado Avalanche in 2013. He has since been a staple on the team's roster, scoring over 100 points in each of his first 3 seasons and helping lead them to back-to-back Stanley Cup victories. 

Nathan is an explosive player with great puck control who can score from anywhere on the ice. His play has led him to be nominated for several awards, including MVP and Hart Memorial Trophy in 2016-2017 season respectively.

In 2018 he became just the second player ever (after Wayne Gretzky) to win both the Art Ross and Hart trophies in consecutive years, cementing his status as one of hockey's best players ever.

Injuries have slowed down Hedman in recent years but he is still considered one of the best defenders in the game.

He was drafted by the team in 2009 and has been with them since. Victor Hedman has had a successful career, winning two Stanley Cups with the Lighting and being named to multiple All-Star teams. 

Victor Hedman also plays for Sweden at the international level and has won a gold medal at the World Championships as well as silver medals at both the Olympics and the World Cup of Hockey.

In 2017, Victor Hedman signed an eight-year contract extension with the Lightning that will keep him with the club until the 2024-25 season.

Leon Draisaitl was born on October 27th, 1995 in Cologne, Germany. He is a 6'2" tall centreman who currently plays for the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL. 

Draisaitl first made an impact at the junior level with his hometown team HC Köln before being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2013 as part of their inaugural draft class.

In 2017 he won his first Stanley Cup with Edmonton over the Boston Bruins. 

Outside of hockey, Draisaitl enjoys spending time with his family and friends, including participating in charity events and supporting various causes close to his heart such as helping disadvantaged youth find opportunities they may not have otherwise had access to.

Leon Draisaitl is a young, talented center/left wing who was drafted 3rd overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2014 NHL Draft. 

He has had an impressive playing career to date, representing Germany at various junior levels before making his debut with them at the senior level in 2013. 

In 2014 he signed with the Oilers and made his professional debut that season, scoring 10 goals and adding 18 assists for 28 points in 48 games played.

In 2015-16 Leon continued to perform well for Edmonton, posting 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) in 66 games played as they reached the playoffs for only the second time in franchise history; however, they were unable to advance past the first round this time around. 

Leon score 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 82 games as he led all forwards on Edmonton's roster en route to their third consecutive playoff appearance; however, once again they were unable to make it past the first round this time around - losing 2-1 against Calgary Flames in six hard-fought games.

Leon so far - recording 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) through 35 games played which puts him 5th among all NHL players currently playing - leading many pundits and experts to declare him one of 'the best centers / left wings' currently active.

9. David Pastrňák

David Pastrňák was born on May 25th, 1996 in Havířov, Czech Republic. 

At just 6'1", David is one of the smallest players in the NHL and his size has often been a disadvantage against bigger opposition.

Despite this, David has played for HC Kladno (junior), Boston Bruins (rookie), Worcester Sharks (AHL) and Providence Bruins (ECHL). 

In 2016-17 he led all AHL rookies with 36 goals and 76 points in 78 games as Worcester Sharks advanced to the Calder Cup Final where they lost to Toronto Marlies 4-3.

The following season he posted 24 goals and 56 points in 73 games as Providence was again eliminated from playoff contention late in the season by Hartford Wolf Pack 3-2.

In overtime of Game 7 of their first-round series which also went into overtime after regulation time had expired resulting David Pastrňák was drafted 25th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2014 NHL Draft.

David Pastrňák has played for the Czech Republic at both junior and senior levels, including a gold medal victory at the World Junior Championships in 2013. David Pastrňák is primarily a right-wing, but he can also play center or left-wing if needed. 

David Pastrňák scored his first professional goal on October 25th, 2014 against Montreal Canadiens goaltender Dustin Tokarski. 

Injuries have been an issue for David Pastrňák throughout his career; however, he has bounced back each time to play again later that season or even further down the line.

It is expected that David Pastrnaek will be playing with the Bruins full-time starting next season after impressing during his rookie campaign last year.

Artemi Panarin is a talented left wing who has been playing in the NHL since 2016. In his first three seasons, he was an integral part of the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup-winning team.

He then signed with the New York Rangers in 2021 and helped them reach the playoffs that year. However, they were unable to win any games and eventually lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round.

In 2022-23, Panarin struggled for ice time with New York as injuries started piling up for him and he spent most of his time on their AHL affiliate team instead of with the Rangers themselves. 

Panarin was drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft.

He played for Vityaz Chekhov before joining Ak Bars Kazan in 2013. Panarin won a gold medal with Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics and helped his team win another championship in 2017. 

He signed with Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent in 2018, where he has since been an integral part of their roster.

In 2019, Panarin was awarded the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy as Canada's most gentlemanly player during playoffs; this marked his first time being honored with such an award outside of Russia.

Belarusian hockey leagues Panarin is expected to become a free agent after this season and will likely join one of the top teams in the ice hockey league.

11. Andrei Vasilevskiy

Vasilevskiy is considered one of the brightest young goaltenders in hockey and will be looking to continue his development with the Lightning moving forward Andrei Vasilevskiy was born in Minsk, Belarus on March 5th, 1995.

He captained Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) from 2016-2018 and helped lead them to two championships during that time period. 

Vasilevskiy made his NHL debut with the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 9th, 2018 against the Carolina Hurricanes and recorded a win in his first game as a starter. 

Andrei is currently playing for Russian club Ufa in the KHL playoffs and has yet to lose any games this postseason thus far.

Andrei Vasilevskiy is an extremely talented goaltender who will hopefully continue to develop and reach even greater heights within the NHL.

12. Cale Makar

Makar was drafted in the first round, 16th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. 

Makar previously played for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL and recorded 191 goals and 548 points over four seasons with them.

In his rookie season with the Avalanche, he led all rookies in scoring with 31 points (10G-21A) and finished second on the team in plus/minus (+16). 

The following year he improved upon his point total to 37 (11G-26A) but saw his plus/minus dip slightly to +13 due to injury problems late in the season which limited him to 53 games played.

In 2019-20, Makar continued where he left off from last year recording 36 points (14G-24A) while being named an alternate captain by head coach Jared Bednar at age 20 years old - a record for the youngest player ever elected as captain of an NHL franchise. 

As one of only two players under 25 years old who have scored more than 100 goals during their professional careers, Makar is widely considered one of hockey's brightest young stars and is expected to continue producing at a high level well into his 30s Makar was drafted 4th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Draft.

He has spent most of his career with the Avalanche, appearing in over 100 games and scoring 22 goals and 53 assists. Makar is a right-shooting defenceman who is known as a physical player on the ice. 

He announced his retirement from hockey at the age of 20 after suffering a torn ACL during a playoff game against Minnesota Wild. 

Makar remains active off the ice, working to promote awareness of mental health issues among athletes through his charity Cale’s Challenge Foundation.

His combination of speed, skill, and creativity makes him difficult to defend against - no matter how experienced their opponent may be.

Marner is currently playing at an All-Star level for Toronto, helping them remain competitive in what has been a tough league season so far. 

With continued success on the ice and further recognition off it, Mitch Marner looks destined for great things in future years Mitch Marner is a right-wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL.

He was drafted 4th overall in 2015 and has since made an impact with his play on the ice. Mitch Marner is known for his speed and ability to create chances for himself and others. He also possesses high hockey IQ, making him very dangerous on offense. 

Mitch Marner's biggest challenge will likely continue to be consistency; he has shown flashes of brilliance but can also be frustratingly inconsistent at times.

Despite this challenge, Mitch Marner is still one of the most highly touted prospects in hockey and looks set to make a significant contribution soon in either the NHL or international scene.

14. Mikko Rantanen

Mikko Rantanen is a 26-year-old center for the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL. He was drafted by the Avalanche in the first round, 17th overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has since made himself one of their most valuable players.

Rantanen had an outstanding rookie season in 2015–16, setting career highs in goals (31), assists (42) and points (73). His 73 points were fourth best in league history for a first-year player behind only Patrick Kane, Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos.

In addition to his play on ice, he has also been known for his charitable work with UNICEF Finland and other organizations such as Hjärnarpspojkarna - The Homeless Kids Club Foundation which helps disadvantaged youth stay off the streets or out of trouble.

As well as continuing to perform at an elite level both offensively and defensively while being a model citizen off it; Mikko Rantanen is sure to be a long-term fixture in Avalanche folklore Mikko Rantanen is a skilled right-winger who has spent the majority of his professional career in Colorado.

He was drafted 10th overall by the Avalanche in 2015 and has since put up impressive numbers, including 82 points (34 goals, 48 assists) in 73 games this season. 

Mikko Rantanen also played for Finland at both the World Junior Championships and the Olympics, where he helped lead his country to bronze medals.

In terms of future prospects, Mikko Rantanen is already considered an elite player and could potentially become one of the best wingers in the NHL soon.

Eichel is known for his outstanding playmaking ability and scoring touch, which have seen him rack up career totals of 82 goals and 141 assists so far. 

The USA international will be looking to take his game even further this season, as he bids to lead the Sabres back into playoff contention after missing out on qualification last year.

Since joining the team, Jack has had an incredibly successful career both on and off the ice – becoming one of only 6 players to win Rookie of The Year.

Mason McTavish is a Swiss-born forward who played for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the NHL. 

Mason was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers with their seventh overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but he never made it to North America and instead opted to play for his hometown team, the Bulldogs.

Mason had an impressive rookie season with Hamilton, scoring 21 goals and 43 points in 73 games before being signed by Edmonton as a free agent at the end of 2017-18. 

In 2018-19, Mason struggled defensively but still managed 16 goals and 36 points in 71 games - good enough for fourth on Hamilton's scoring list behind Dylan Strome, Mitch Marner and Tyler Bozak - earning him another contract from Edmonton worth $650K over three years.

As one of only two players under 24 years old on Edmonton's roster (the other being rookie defenseman Evan Bouchard), McTavish has been given ample opportunity to show what he can do this season; however, injuries have hampered his progress somewhat so far.
