The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are a Minor League Baseball team based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. As the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, the Pelicans compete in the Carolina League. Since 1999, they have called TicketReturn.com Field home, a stadium with a capacity of up to 6,599 people.

In 2016, the Pelicans won the Carolina League Championship and in 2020, Major League Baseball announced that the Pelicans would become the High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.Whether you’re a fan of the Cubs or the Braves, the Pelicans offer a unique and exciting experience of professional baseball.

Hanson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 28th 1986. Hanson played for the Atlanta Braves from 2009-2015, during which time he made a total of 159 appearances and posted an overall record of 36-30 with a 3.92 ERA.

Hanson died unexpectedly on November 9th 2015 at the age of 29 after suffering from an apparent heart attack while playing in a game for the Sacramento River Cats in California.
