In his rookie season with Detroit, he started 10 games but only caught 30 passes for 399 yards and one touchdown despite being targeted frequently by quarterback Matthew Stafford.

After struggling to find consistency during his second season, he underwent surgery to repair an ankle injury sustained early in training camp this year which sidelined him for most of August/September before returning late in October to play against New Orleans.

Despite starting all 16 games last year again this year, he finished with just 59 receptions for 781 yards – well below his previous totals – partly due to playing through multiple injuries including another ankle issue but also because quarterbacks were not targeting him as much as they did previously.
