The Copa Libertadores de América is a prestigious club football tournament held annually in South America and organized by CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation).

It is considered to be the most prestigious club football tournament in the region, with teams from all of South America competing for the title.

The tournament has been running since 1960, and has been won by many of the continent’s most successful teams, including Argentina’s Boca Juniors, Brazil’s Santos, and Uruguay’s Nacional.

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, better known as Ronaldinho or simply Ronaldinho, is a Brazilian football player who played for several clubs in his country and abroad.

Ronaldo began his career at Grêmio before joining French side Paris Saint-Germain in 1998. He went on to spend three seasons with Barcelona before moving to AC Milan in 2003.

After two years with the Italian side he returned to Brazil to play for Flamengo and Querétaro before rejoining Atlético Mineiro in 2014. 

Ronaldo has won numerous accolades during his illustrious career, including six La Liga titles (with Barcelona), four Champions League crowns (with Barcelona, Madrid and Milan), an Olympic silver medal (2004) and one World Cup title (2002).

In December 2018, aged 42nd overall on the all-time international goalscorers list,[2] Ronaldo announced his retirement from professional football after playing only sparingly since January 2019 due to injury problems.

Ronaldinho remains one of the most popular footballers in history;[5] according to FIFA's annual world rankings list of top 200 players compiled between September 2017-18.

Carlos Tevez is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Italian club Juventus and the Argentina national team. Tevez began his career at Boca Juniors, before moving to Manchester United in 2007.

He spent three years with City before joining Juventus in 2013. Tevez has represented Argentina at the international level on numerous occasions, most notably winning the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2003 Copa América. 

In March 2015, he was banned from all football activity for eight months after being charged with deliberately kicking a ball into the stands during a match against Barcelona.

Diego Nicolás de la Cruz Arcosa was born on 1 June 1997 in Montevideo, Uruguay. De la Cruz is a midfielder for River Plate and has made over 100 appearances for the club since joining as an underage player in 2009.

He played at youth level for Liverpool Montevideo before making his senior debut with the team in 2015. Diego Nicolís de la Cruz won the Copa Libertadores with River Plate in 2017 and was also runners-up in the Recopa Sudamericana that same year.

Elano is a Brazilian attacking midfielder who has played for Santos, Inter de Limeira and Manchester City. Elano was born in Iracemápolis on 14 June 1981.

He started his career with Guarani before joining Inter de Limeira on loan in 2000. Elano made his senior debut for Shakhtar Donetsk in 2007 where he scored three goals during the season.

In 2009, Elano moved to Galatasaray and helped them win the Turkish Cup that year as well as reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals where they were beaten by Barcelona. 

After two seasons with Galatasaray, Elano joined Manchester City in 2011 but injury prevented him from playing too many games for them and he departed at the end of the 2012/13 season.

Currently, Elano plays for Beşiktaş JK.[3] Elano started his professional career at Santos in 2004. He played for Brazil up until 2011 and was a key player during that time. 

After leaving Brazilian football, Elano spent some time working as an assistant manager with Santos before being appointed interim manager of the club in 2017. 

Elano is currently managing Inter de Limeira in Brazil's second tier, but has also had spells coaching at Figueirense and Náutico in recent years too.

Marcos Evangelista de Morais, commonly known as Cafu, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Italian club Lazio and the Brazil national team as a right back.

Cafu began his career with São Paulo before moving to Spanish side Real Zaragoza in 1995. He spent most of his time at Roma, winning three Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia trophies during his spell there.

After making 134 appearances for Brazil between 1997 and 2003, Cafu was part of the squad that won the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan. 

In 2004 he moved to Italy's Lazio where he has continued playing until present day; having made over 200 appearances for them since then including scoring 22 goals in all competitions combined.

At international level, Cafu has represented Brazil at every Copa América tournament since 2001 apart from 2015 where they were runners-up after losing 3–1 on penalties to Chile in the final following a 0–0 draw after extra time which caused uproar amongst. 

Brazilian fans due to their team being one man down (Cafu missed the shootout). In total he has played 97 times for Brazil scoring 6 goals - 2nd highest among all players behind only Zico (11).

He also captained both the 2006 FIFA World Cup-winning side[4]and 2014’s Copa America winners [5]. At 52 years old Cafu is still an active player and is contracted with Lazio until 2020.

Gerson is a Brazilian midfielder who currently plays for Fluminense. Gerson has previously played for Flamengo in both youth and senior football, and was part of the squad that won the Copa do Brasil in 2018.

Gerson is primarily known as an attacking midfielder, but can also play at left-back or centre-back if required. Gerson has been capped by Brazil at under-17 level, and made his debut for the full national team in March 2019.

Matheuzinho has enjoyed some good performances for Londrina this season, and his skills are sure to be appreciated by bigger clubs in the future. 

He is very strong defensively and can make vital interceptions when needed, as well as provide support going forward from the backline.

Alejandro Guerra is a Venezuelan attacking midfielder who has played for Caracas, Palmeiras and River Plate in his career. Alejandro Guerra began his professional career at Caracas in 2002 before moving to Palmeiras the following year.

At Palmeiras he won three Brazilian titles including two Copa Libertadores (2007, 2010) and one Intercontinental Cup (2009). 

He also played in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup with River Plate where they reached the final but were defeated by Barcelona.

In 2011, Alejandro Guerra joined River Plate on loan from Palmeiras and helped them win their sixth Argentine league title that season as well as their first ever Copa Argentina.

Borja is a Colombian forward who currently plays for River Plate. Borja made his senior debut with Cortuluá in 2011 and went on to play 33 times for the club over the next three seasons.
