Josh Norman was born on December 15, 1987, in Greenwood, South Carolina. He attended Greenwood High School and played football for the Panthers from 2008-2011 before going to Coastal Carolina University.

After three seasons at Coastal Carolina, Josh Norman was drafted by the Panthers in 2012 and has spent his entire career with them. In 2016 he signed with the Redskins and stayed there until 2019 when he joined the Bills.

In 2020 Josh moved to San Francisco where he remains currently as a starting cornerback for their Super Bowl contenders this season. Josh Norman is a talented and experienced cornerback who has played in the NFL for six seasons.

He was First-team All-Pro in 2015 and a Pro Bowl selection that year. Norman also earned first-team FCS All-American honors in 2011, making him one of the most decorated players in his position to date. Known for his aggressive playstyle, Norman is an asset on both defense and special teams units.

His potential departure from Washington could open up a spot on another team’s roster as he enters the final year of his contract this season.

2. Mickey Brantley

Mickey Brantley

Mickey Brantley began his Major League Baseball career with the Seattle Mariners in 1986. In 1993, he signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball league.

After two seasons in Japan, he returned to MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1996 and played for them until 2006. He had a brief return to NPB play with the Hanshin Tigers in 2007 before retiring from baseball at the end of that season.

Mickey Brantley was one of the most feared hitters in baseball during his playing days. He finished with a batting average of .259 and 32 home runs, 125 RBIs and 4 stolen bases in 687 games over 12 seasons. After retiring as a player, he served as the hitting coach for the Mets from 1999 to 2001 before being named manager of Toronto Blue Jays in 2005.

However, he was fired after just one season due to poor team performance. Since then, he has been involved mainly in broadcasting work for MLB Network and Fox Sports 1. He also coaches young players in Venezuela where he resides full-time since 2006.

Grayson McCall is a quarterback for Coastal Carolina. Grayson started at quarterback as a freshman, and led the Chanticleers to an 8-4 record and their first bowl game appearance in program history.

He was named second-team All-Conference USA by both the league's coaches and media in his sophomore season, after throwing for 2,722 yards with 20 touchdowns against just five interceptions. 

In his junior year, Grayson helped lead Coastal Carolina to an 11-3 record and another conference championship - making him one of only two players in CCU history (the other being running back Marcus Lattimore) to win consecutive conference MVPs (along with Darian Durant).

As a senior this year, Grayson has thrown for 3,926 yards with 31 touchdown passes against six interceptions on his way to earning first team All-American honors from multiple publications - including ESPN who have called him "one of the most complete quarterbacks in college football.

De'Angelo Henderson played for the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets in 2017 and 2018. Henderson played running back for both teams. Henderson was drafted in the 6th round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos.

Simpson attended Reidsville High School in North Carolina and was a two-time All-State selection. He played college football at Coastal Carolina and caught 221 passes for 3,146 yards and 26 touchdowns in three seasons.

Simpson was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2008 NFL Draft and spent four seasons with the team. He was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2013 and spent two seasons with the team. Simpson signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2015 and spent one season with the team.

He was released by the Browns in 2016 and signed with the Buffalo Bills the following year. Simpson signed with the Oakland Raiders in2018 and played one season with the team. 

He was released by the Raiders in 2019 and signed with the Los Angeles Rams the following year. Simpson retired in 2020.

Lorenzo Taliaferro was a running back for the Baltimore Ravens. He was born in Yorktown, Virginia, in 1991. He played college football at Coastal Carolina.

Hazel had a productive four-year career with the Washington Redskins, recording 190 catches for 2,934 yards and 18 touchdowns. Hazel was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins but only played for them for one season before being traded to the Buffalo Bills.

He had a breakout year with the Bills in 2016, recording 84 catches for 1,321 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Hazel was traded to the Washington Redskins in the middle of the 2017 season and finished the year with 43 catches for 645 yards and five touchdowns. Hazel is a versatile receiver who is able to play both on the outside and in the slot.

Brewer was a defensive tackle at Coastal Carolina and was drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Brewer played in 20 games for the Houston Roughnecks in his rookie season and recorded 23 tackles and one sack.

In his second season with the Roughnecks, Brewer recorded 31 tackles and one sack. In his third season with the Roughnecks, Brewer recorded 31 tackles and 2 sacks. In his fourth season with the Roughnecks, Brewer recorded 34 tackles and one sack.

In his fifth and final season with the Roughnecks, Brewer recorded 33 tackles and one sack. Brewer was released by the Roughnecks in December of 2020. 

Brewer has not played in the NFL since his release from the Houston Roughnecks. Brewer is currently a free agent and is looking for a new team.

Cliff Ellis is the current head coach of Coastal Carolina, who are currently in the Sun Belt Conference. Ellis has a 292-214 record as a head coach, including five seasons at Auburn.

Ellis played football at Florida State and was an assistant coach there before becoming a head coach. Ellis has spent most of his coaching career at South Alabama and Clemson, where he has been successful in both college football and the NFL.

Ellis is a Hall of Fame player and coach who has made a significant impact on the game of football. Cliff Ellis is a successful coach, having led Coastal Carolina to three conference championships and two NABC District 5 Coach of the Year honors.

Ellis is also a highly decorated player, playing for two National champions and earning All-America honors in both the collegiate and professional leagues. Ellis is currently the head coach at Coastal Carolina.

Jaivon Heiligh was a standout receiver at Venice High School in Venice, Florida. He signed with Coastal Carolina in January of 2018 and played in all 13 games for the Chanticleers as a redshirt freshman in 2018.

He led the team in receptions (48) and receiving yards (579) in 2018. He was named to the All-Sun Belt first team in 2018. He declared for the 2019 NFL Draft and was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the sixth round.

He made his NFL debut in Week 2 of the 2019 season and finished the game with three receptions for 31 yards. Jaivon is currently a member of the Blue Bombers practice squad. Jaivon Heiligh was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

He spent the season on the Bengals' practice squad before being signed to the team's active roster in early 2021. 

 Heiligh played in all 16 games for the Bengals in 2021, starting three. He recorded 54 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Heiligh was released by the Bengals in May 2022 and signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers the next day.

He played in all 16 games for the Bombers in the season, starting seven. He recorded 104 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Heiligh was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 and the Canadian Football League Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.

Tommy La Stella was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 3rd round of the 2007 MLB Draft. La Stella made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2014. La Stella played for the Los Angeles Angels in 2019.

La Stella is a switch hitter and has played both second baseman and third baseman in MLB. La Stella has a .259 batting average with 14 home runs and 55 RBI in 592 MLB games. La Stella is a versatile player who is able to play both second base and third base.

La Stella is a fan favorite in Atlanta and is considered a leader on the team. La Stella is an ambassador for the Atlanta Braves and has worked with various charities. La Stella is a member of the USA Baseball National Team and played in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Mike Costanzo is a third baseman who has played for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the Southern League. Costanzo was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 6th round of the 2001 amateur draft.

He has played in parts of 9 seasons in the majors, with the Phillies, Detroit Tigers, and Chicago White Sox. In 2017, Costanzo was traded to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. In 301 games in the majors, he has hit .236 with 25 home runs and 97 RBIs.

Costanzo is a career .272 hitter with 142 home runs and 692 RBIs in 1,037 games. He was named to the Southern League All-Star team in 2017. Costanzo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1983. He is married and has one child. Mike Costanzo made his MLB debut for the Cincinnati Reds on May 13, 2012.

He was released by the Reds on June 5, 2012. He played for the Louisville Bats of the Triple-A International League in 2012.

22. Kirt Manwaring

Kirt Manwaring was a catcher for the Giants and Rockies. He had a brief but successful MLB career. He is best known for catching Barry Bonds' record-breaking 73rd home run.

Manwaring retired after the 1999 season. He is now a broadcaster for the Giants. Manwaring was born in Elmira, New York. He attended SUNY-Binghamton. Manwaring was drafted by the Giants in the 8th round of the 1987 MLB draft.

He made his MLB debut with the Giants on September 15, 1987. Kirt Manwaring was a versatile player who could play any position on the field. He was known for his patience at the plate, as well as his power. Manwaring spent his entire career with the San Francisco Giants, where he was a three-time Gold Glove Award winner.

Manwaring retired after the 1996 season, and was inducted into the San Francisco Giants Wall of Fame in 2001. Manwaring is currently a broadcaster for the Giants.

Benny Moss is the associate head coach of Coastal Carolina and has been with the program since 2006. He played collegiately at Charlotte from 1989 to 1991.

In 1991, he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets. He played professionally for the Golden State Warriors, New Jersey Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks. He was inducted into the Charlotte Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

He is a graduate of North Carolina State. He was an assistant coach at Charlotte from 1995 to 2006. He was an assistant coach at Jacksonville from 2006 to 2007. He was the head coach of the Iowa Energy from 2007 to 2010.

Benny Moss is a former assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets and UNC Wilmington. He has a record of 41-74 as an assistant coach. Benny Moss coached at Henderson State from 1998-2000 and then at UNC Wilmington from 2000-2006.

Moss was hired as an assistant coach with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in 2011. As an assistant coach, Moss has helped guide the Chanticleers to a record of 21-36. Benny Moss is a graduate of the University of North Carolina.

Moss played basketball for the Tar Heels. Moss is a native of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Moss is currently an assistant coach with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

McRoy has a coaching career spanning over 10 years. McRoy is responsible for coaching the team's defensive backs. McRoy is a highly experienced coach who has worked with a variety of teams. McRoy is well-respected within the coaching community.

McRoy is a highly-skilled coach who is able to develop players. McRoy is an important part of Coastal Carolina's coaching staff. McRoy is a graduate of Hutchinson CC and has been coaching since 2012. He was the assistant coach at Texas-Pan American from 2013-2014 before joining Washington State in 2014.

In 2017, McRoy became the head coach of Coastal Carolina. As of 2019, McRoy has led the Chanticleers to a 20-5 record and a berth in the NIT.

25. Rodney Burgess

Rodney Burgess was a highly productive tight end and wide receiver at the University of South Carolina. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Burgess has been a starter for the Titans since his rookie season and has played in 112 games. He has caught 190 passes for 2,924 yards and 21 touchdowns. In 2013, Burgess was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Burgess signed a one-year contract with the Oakland Raiders in March of 2016. Burgess was waived by the Raiders on September 2, 2016. Burgess was signed to the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad on September 3, 2016. Burgess was signed by the New York Jets on November 4, 2016.

26. Keith Glauber

Keith Glauber made his MLB debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1995. He pitched in the majors for 10 seasons, all with the Phillies. He finished his career with a record of 142-154.

Glauber was a key member of the Phillies' championship teams in both 2001 and 2008. He was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in December of 2012. He retired after the 2014 season. Glauber is currently a pitching coach for the Phillies' minor league team.

He was named the Phillies' pitching coach for the 2019 season. Keith Glauber is a two-time All-Star and a key member of the Phillies' history. Keith Glauber was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd round of the 1988 amateur draft. Keith Glauber made his MLB debut with the Reds on September 8, 1998.

Glauber played for the Reds until 2000. In his MLB career, Glauber had a win-loss record of 0-0 and an earned run average of 3.00. Glauber struck out 8 batters in his MLB career. Keith Glauber is most famous for his MLB appearances with the Cincinnati Reds. Glauber is currently a coach for the Reds' rookie league team.

27. Luis Lopez

Luis Lopez had an MLB debut in 2001 with the Toronto Blue Jays. Lopez played for the Blue Jays from 2001-2005. Lopez then played for the Cleveland Indians from 2006-2008.

Lopez had a brief stint with the San Diego Padres in 2009. Lopez then signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 2010. Lopez played for the Orioles until 2015. Lopez then signed with the Chicago Cubs in 2016.

Lopez is currently a first baseman/third baseman for the Cubs. Lopez played for the Montreal Expos from 2004-2005. He hit .226 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs in 53 games. Lopez was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2001, but he never appeared in a game for them.

He was traded to the Montreal Expos in 2004. Lopez played in Japan for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles from 2005-2007. 

He hit .282 with 18 home runs and 73 RBIs in 157 games. Lopez returned to the U.S. in 2008 and played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He hit .246 with 4 home runs and 22 RBIs in 113 games.

Jacob May was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 7th round of the 2011 MLB draft. May made his MLB debut with the White Sox on April 4th, 2017. May was traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in August of 2017.

After playing for the Angels for just over a month, May was traded to the Chicago White Sox in September. May played in just 8 games for the White Sox before being traded again, this time to the Detroit Tigers. May did not play in any games for the Tigers and was released in May of 2018.

May signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves in June of 2018. May made his debut with the Braves on July 2nd and has played in 13 games. Jacob May is currently a free agent. 

Jacob May was drafted in the 37th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He was born on October 22nd, 1997 in San Diego, CA.

As a junior at Cal State Fullerton, May hit .362 with 10 home runs and 48 RBI. Jacob May signed with the Chicago White Sox for $250,000.

All of these players were stars at Coastal Carolina University, and they are all remembered fondly by the students and alumni of the school.
