Club Atlético River Plate, one of the most renowned clubs in Argentina and around the world, is a professional sports club based in the Núñez neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

Founded in 1901, the club is named after the English name for the Río de la Plata, the estuary of the La Plata river. While the club sees success in multiple sports, they are best known for their football team, which has won Argentina’s Primera Division championship a record 36 times.

Di Stefano was an Argentine forward and attacking midfielder who played for River Plate, Real Madrid, Huracán, and Millonarios in his career. Di Stéfano won three consecutive European Cups with Real Madrid from 1955 to 1957 and also won the Intercontinental Cup in 1960.

He is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time and is often cited alongside Pele, Diego Maradona, and Lionel Messi as one of the best players ever to play the game. 

Di Stefano had lengthy injury-plagued final years of his playing career which led him to retire at age 43 in 1953.

After retirement, he became a coach with Real Madrid winning two more La Liga titles before retiring from coaching in 1998 after leading them to their tenth Champions League title victory that season aged 70 years old.

Making him both club's most successful manager and oldest winner of a major trophy/title (the UEFA European Championship).

He died on 7 July 2014 at the age of 88 after suffering heart failure following surgery complications arising from a stroke he suffered earlier that year; this made him Argentina's oldest living World Cup player when he passed away.

Di Stéfano was one of the greatest footballers of all time and is widely regarded as one of the best goalscorers in history.

He won numerous honors during his playing career, including five La Liga titles with Barcelona and Real Madrid, three European Cup crowns with Real Madrid, two Intercontinental Cups with club sides River Plate and Valencia, as well as a Copa América title with Argentina. 

Di Stéfano also had a lengthy managerial career which included spells at Elche, Boca Juniors and Valencia.

He led Sporting CP to their first-ever UEFA Champions League win in 1986 but resigned after just six months due to health concerns. In 2002 he was named Spanish Footballer of the Century by FIFA and received an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 2003. 

Di Stéfano died at the age of 82 on 5 January 2014 following a long battle against prostate cancer.

Nacho is a Spanish defender who has played for Real Madrid since 2009. Nacho started his career with AD Complutense before joining Real Madrid in 2001. In 2009, he made his debut for Real Madrid and has been an important part of the team ever since.

Nacho has represented Spain at the under-21 level and was part of the side that won the European Championships in 2013.

Higuaín is a world-renowned striker, who has spent his entire career at Juventus. He was born in Brest, France, in 1987 and started playing football for the local side Palermo when he was just six years old.

Higuaín joined River Plate from Palermo in 2005 and scored 35 goals in 107 appearances for the Buenos Aires club before signing for Real Madrid the following year. Higuaín helped Napoli to win Serie A titles in 2013 and 2016 before joining Juventus on a free transfer in January of 2020.

At Juve he has been prolific, scoring 105 goals over 48 appearances so far. Higuaín made his international debut for Argentina aged 19 and went on to score 34 goals in 89 appearances for his country.

Carlos Tevez is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Italian club Juventus and the Argentina national team. Tevez began his career at Boca Juniors, before moving to Manchester United in 2007.

He spent three years with City before joining Juventus in 2013. Tevez has represented Argentina at the international level on numerous occasions, most notably winning the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2003 Copa América.

Diego Nicolás de la Cruz Arcosa was born on 1 June 1997 in Montevideo, Uruguay. De la Cruz is a midfielder for River Plate and has made over 100 appearances for the club since joining as an underage player in 2009.

Enzo Francescoli is a Uruguayan attacking midfielder who played for River Plate and RC Paris in his career. Enzo Francescoli was born in Montevideo on 12 November 1961.

In 1980, Enzo Francescoli joined Wanderers and made 74 appearances over two years before moving to River Plate the following year. At River Plate, Enzo Francescoli won three league titles (1985–86, 1989–90) and reached the Copa Libertadores final twice (1986, 1990).

After leaving River Plate in 1991, Enzo Francescoli signed for RC Paris where he starred alongside Zinedine Zidane amongst other top French players until joining Marseille two years later. 

With Marseille, Enzo Francescoli helped them win Ligue 1 title in 1994-95 as well as reaching the UEFA Cup semi-finals that season before retiring from professional football at the end of 1995-96 season aged 33 due to injury.

Riquelme is a former Argentine footballer who most notably played for Barcelona and Boca Juniors. Riquelme started his career at Argentinos Juniors before moving to Boca Juniors in 1996.

He was part of the Argentina squad that won the silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics, as well as helping Barcelona win La Liga and Copa del Rey titles during his time with them.

Palermo is a former Argentine footballer who played as a striker. Palermo started his career with Estudiantes de La Plata in 1992 and went on to make 93 appearances for the club over the next three years, scoring 34 goals.

He then transferred to River Plate in 1997 where he made 73 appearances and scored 25 goals before joining Platense manager José Cardozo's squad in 2018. Palermo has also represented Argentina at international level, making 14 appearances between 1995 and 1999.

In 2005, Palermo helped Platense win promotion to the Primera B Nacional league after they finished third in their group during that season's Apertura tournament; he subsequently retired from professional football at the end of 2006 following Platense's relegation back down to Division 2A (fourth tier).

Santiago Simón is a young Argentine winger who currently plays for River Plate. Santiago was born on June 13th, 2002 in José C. Paz, Argentina and has since played for several youth teams across his country before making the move to Europe at the age of 18.

He made his professional debut with River Plate during the 2016/17 season and has since enjoyed some success with the club, including winning two league titles (2016, 2017) as well as reaching the Copa Libertadores semi-finals in 2018.

Ezequiel Barco is a 21-year old attacking midfielder who currently plays for River Plate on loan from Atlanta United. Born in Argentina, Barco spent time with numerous youth clubs before joining River Plate's senior team in 2017.

Known for his speed and dribbling skills, Ezequiel has made several appearances for the Argentina under-20 national team and was also part of their squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup where he scored one goal in Colombia's 3–1 win over Japan in the group stage.

In June 2018 it was announced that Atlanta United had signed Barco to a season long loan deal, making him eligible to play in MLS games starting July 8th against LA Galaxy.

Pablo Solari is a forward for River Plate, and he has been with the club since the age of 16. On 22 March 2001, Pablo was born in Arizona, Argentina. He stands at 1.78 metres tall and weighs 102 kilograms (225 pounds).

Pablo started his youth career with Club Rumbo a Vélez before joining River Plate in 2015. In total, Solari has made 66 appearances for River Plate scoring 11 goals.

Ahumada signed with Liga MX side Tigres UANL on 10 January 2015. Ahumada made his Tigres debut on 17 January 2015 in a 1-1 draw against Pachuca. On 10 July 2015, Ahumada was released from Tigres UANL. On 2 September 2015, Ahumada signed with CF El Salvador.

Fillol is a five-time Argentine league champion and two-time international champion with the country. He was a goalkeeper for Quilmes, Racing Club, River Plate, and San Lorenzo.

He is best known for his time with River Plate, where he made 360 appearances and was a part of the team that won the 1973 championship. Fillol was also a part of the Argentina team that won the 1978 World Cup.

He announced his retirement in 1983 and later served as the head coach of the River Plate youth team. Fillol was honored with a Panini card in 1978. He currently resides in Buenos Aires and works as a goalkeeper coach.

Fillol was inducted into the Argentine Football Association Hall of Fame in 2006. He was born on July 21, 1950, and is 71 years old. Ubaldo Fillol is a tall and imposing defender who has spent most of his career playing for Argentine giants Racing Club.
