The Arizona Wildcats Men’s Basketball team is a powerhouse of college basketball and one of the most well-known programs in the country. The Wildcats have been dominant since their first season in 1914, with an impressive record that includes 13 Pac-12 conference championships, five Final Four appearances and one NCAA championship title.

Over the years they have developed a deep rivalry with cross state rivals Arizona State Sun Devils as well as other top teams around the nation. Led by head coach Sean Miller, this program has produced numerous NBA stars such as Mike Bibby, Channing Frye and Luke Walton to name just a few. With talented players on both ends of the court plus amazing coaching staff it’s no wonder why so many people are drawn to watching them play each year.

Lauri Markkanen was born on May 22nd, 1997 in Vantaa, Finland. He is a small forward and power forward who played college basketball for Arizona. In 2017, the Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Markkanen with the 7th overall pick in the NBA draft.

Since entering the NBA in 2014, Lauri Markkanen has established himself as one of the top players in the league. He is averaging 21 points and seven rebounds per game this season with his team, Utah Jazz Lauri Markkanen was born in 2002 and is a Finnish basketball player.

He played college basketball for the University of Arizona from 2014 to 2016, where he was named First-team All-American by both AP and NABC. In 2017, he joined the Chicago Bulls but only appeared in 6 games before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in February 2018. 

After spending time with the Cavs and Utah Jazz, Lauri signed with Märsky of Finland's top league in March 2021 and has been their starting center ever since.

Jefferson was drafted 13th overall by the Houston Rockets in 2001. Jefferson played with the New Jersey Nets from 2001 to 2008, averaging 12 points and 5 rebounds per game over his career.

Jefferson then signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009, where he would remain until 2018. In 2017, Jefferson averaged 18 points and 7 rebounds per game for Cleveland during their run to the NBA Finals.

Jefferson is a two-time All Star (2010, 2016) and won an Olympic Gold Medal as part of Team USA in 2012 Jefferson was drafted in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. 

Jefferson played for six different teams during his professional career, averaging 14.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game throughout it all.

In 2016, Jefferson led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first championship in franchise history after defeating the Golden State Warriors in seven games; he averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds throughout that postseason run. 

Outside of basketball, Jefferson is a successful businessman; he is currently an executive vice president at Beats By Dre and has been since 2014.

T. J. McConnell is a point guard for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA. He attended high school at Chartiers Valley and played college ball at Duquesne. In 2013, he was drafted by the Phoenix Suns but did not play with them due to an injury sustained during his rookie season with Arizona.

He then signed with Philadelphia 76ers and spent two seasons there before being traded to Indiana in 2015 where he has since been playing professionally McConnell is a shooting guard who played for the Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers in the NBA. 

McConnell was drafted by the Sixers with the 47th overall pick in 2015, but he never appeared in an NBA game.

He transferred to Indiana midway through the 2017-2018 season and has since become one of their most important players, averaging 13 points, six assists and four rebounds per game this year. 

McConnell’s best season came in 2018-2019 when he averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game while helping lead Indiana to an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals.

4. Zeke Nnaji

Zeke Nnaji is a power forward for the Denver Nuggets. He was born on January 9, 2001 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended high school at Lakeville North in Lakeville, Minnesota.

Zeke played college basketball for Hopkins before entering the NBA draft in 2018. In his rookie season with the Nuggets, he averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds per game while playing nearly 31 minutes per contest.

Zeke has an incredibly bright future ahead of him as he continues to develop his skills as a professional basketball player Nnaji is a 2020 draft prospect who played for Arizona in college. He averaged 12 points, four rebounds and two assists per game during his time at Arizona.

Nnaji was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the 1st round of the 2020 NBA Draft and will begin playing professional basketball with them next season. 

Zeke has been praised for his athleticism, shooting ability and defensive instincts on both ends of the floor - making him an intriguing prospect to watch as he develops over the coming years.

Dickerson was a prolific scorer in the NBA for ten seasons, averaging over 20 points per game. He helped lead the Rockets to back-to-back championships in 2002 and 2003 and was an All-Star selection on five occasions during his career.

Dickerson retired from professional basketball following the 2010 season, having achieved considerable success both domestically and internationally. Michael Dickerson was a standout player at Washington State University, where he led the Cougars to two NCAA championships in consecutive years.

He was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the fifth pick of the 1999 NBA Draft and went on to play for Vancouver / Memphis Grizzlies before joining Faymasa Palencia in 2009. 

Michael Dickerson has been a key contributor off the bench for his various teams throughout his career, averaging over 15 points per game in both seasons with Faymasa Palencia.

Jason Terry played shooting guard and point guard in the NBA for 13 seasons, retiring in 2018. Terry had a productive career as a shooter, averaging over 4 points per game throughout his playing days.

He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1999 and spent six seasons with them before joining the Mavericks in 2009. In 2013, he signed with the Boston Celtics where he spent two seasons before retiring at the end of 2016-17 season.

Terry was a two-time NBA champion as a player with the Atlanta Hawks in 2011 and Dallas Mavericks in 2013. Terry has also won an NCAA championship with the University of Texas Longhorns, being consensus first-team All-American his senior year.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Arizona Cardinals before taking over as interim head coach for Grand Rapids Gold in 2020. Terry is currently an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz, who he joined midway through the 2021 season.

Gabe York is a 29-year-old point guard/shooting guard playing in the NBA G League. He attended Orange Lutheran High School and played for Vanoli Cremona before being drafted by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in 2016.

In his two years with Arizona, he averaged 8 points and 2 assists per game. Gabe has been a fixture of the Mad Ants since joining them midway through the 2017–2018 season; he's averaging 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game this year.

Gabe York is a versatile player who has played both guard positions in the NBA G League. He was drafted by the Erie BayHawks in 2016 and spent two seasons with them before joining Medi Bayreuth last season. His most productive year came in 2018-19 when he averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game while shooting 43% from three-point range.

The Mad Ants signed him for the upcoming 2019-2020 season and he is looking to continue his good form there.

Bennedict Mathurin was born on June 19, 2002 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. At 6'5" and 210 pounds he is a power forward or shooting guard prospect who played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats from 2020-2022.

He was selected by the Indiana Pacers with their sixth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and has since started playing professional basketball for them. 

Bennedict Mathurin has had a successful career so far, averaging 14 points per game over his five seasons of play with Indiana as well as winning an NBA Championship in 2018.

Bennedict Mathurin was a consensus Second-Team All-American in 2022. He won the Pac-12 Player of the Year award in 2022 and was also First Team All-Pac-12 that year. 

In 2020, he led Canada to a gold medal at the FIBA Under 19 World Cup and was named Tournament MOP. Bennedict Mathurin is a two time NCAA Champion with Oregon (2017) and Arizona (2021).

Tubelis is a power forward for Arizona, and has been listed at 6'11" and 245 lbs. He was born in Lithuania and played high school basketball there before transferring to play for the Wildcats.

Tubelis is in his second season with Arizona, having averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds per game as a freshman. Tubelis had an impressive showing at the Pac-12 Tournament this year, averaging 23 points on 62% shooting from the field en route to leading Arizona to their first conference championship since 2007.

Tubelis is considered one of the top young forwards in college basketball, and could be drafted into the NBA after two years of playing collegiately. His size (6'11", 245 lbs) combined with his scoring ability make him a valuable asset on any team he plays for moving forward. 

As one of only 10 Lithuanian players ever drafted into an NCAA Division I program, Tubelis has become somewhat of a national hero back home – something that will undoubtedly help him when it comes to earning contracts overseas should he decide not to continue playing college ball after graduating from Arizona next year.

Khalid Reeves was a standout point guard during his time in the NBA. He played for the Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks.

After playing college basketball at Arizona, Khalid Reeves was selected by the Miami Heat in the 1994 NBA draft. During his six-year career with the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks andCharlotte Hornets, Khalid Reeves averaged 13 points per game and 4 assists per game.

In 2005, after finishing his NBA career with the Mavericks, Khalid Reeves went on to play overseas for several seasons before retiring in 2010. After a successful collegiate career at Arizona, Khalid Reeves was drafted in the first round of the 1990 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.

In his nine-year NBA career, Reeves played for five different teams and averaged 7.8 points per game. After playing his last season with the Chicago Bulls in 2001, he retired from basketball due to injury. 

At 6'9", 255 pounds, Khalid Reeves was an imposing defender and rebounder who is most remembered for his time with the Detroit Pistons where he won two championships (1989 and 1990).

Walton was born in 1980 in San Diego, California. Walton played college basketball at Arizona. Walton was drafted by the Lakers in the 2003 NBA draft. Walton played for the Lakers from 2003 to 2013. Walton has been an assistant coach with the Cavaliers since 2013.

Walton is currently an assistant coach with the Lakers. Walton played for the Lakers from 2003-2012 and became head coach of the Cavaliers in 2013.

Stanley Johnson was selected 8th overall in the 2015 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. Johnson spent two seasons with the Pistons, before joining the Grand Rapids Drive in the NBA G League in 2016.

Christian Koloko is a 22-year-old center from Cameroon who was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft. Koloko attended high school in Birmingham, California and played collegiately at Sierra Canyon.

He is a versatile player who can play both inside and out and is a strong defender. Koloko is expected to compete for a spot on the Raptors' roster this season and has the potential to develop into a good player. Jason Gardner played point guard for the Arizona Wildcats from 2003-2011. Gardner led the Wildcats to a Pac-12 Conference championship in 2006 and was a first-team All-American in 2007.

He was drafted by the Miami Heat in the 2003 NBA draft but did not play in the league. Gardner has since coached the Phoenix Suns' summer league team and is currently the director of player relations for the Arizona Wildcats.

Gardner was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended North Central High School. Gardner was a versatile player in college, playing both guard positions. He was drafted in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat.

Gardner played for the Krka Novo Mesto, Oostende, Ironi Ramat Gan, Townsville Crocodiles, and EWE Oldenburg in the German League. He then went on to play for the Loyola (Chicago) (assistant) and Memphis (assistant) in the NBA. Gardner then took a coaching position at IUPUI.

In 2019, he was appointed as the director of player relations for the Arizona Wildcats. Gardner has won a number of awards, including the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award and the Third-team All-American – AP, NABC.

Arizona is one of the top teams in the country and has a legitimate shot at making it to the NCAA Tournament this year. Lloyd is one of the most successful coaches in Gonzaga history and he is certainly one of the most promising young coaches in the country.

Lloyd is a great teacher and he is known for his ability to develop players both on and off the court. Lloyd is a natural leader and he has a lot of experience coaching at the Division I level. Lloyd is a great recruiter and he has been able to bring in some of the best players in the country to Arizona.

Bob Elliott played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1977 to 1983. He was known for his strong defence and rebounding. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

He later worked as a broadcaster for the 76ers, TNT, and ESPN. Elliott was married to Connie Hawkins, with whom he had two children. He died in 2016 at the age of 67. Elliott was a two-time First-team All-WAC selection and played in the NBA for three seasons.

He was a powerful center who could score inside and out. Elliott was a beloved figure in his home state of Utah, where he was a key player in the Jazz's two championship seasons.

Miles Simon was a shooting guard who played in the NBA for 10 seasons, including four with the Orlando Magic. Simon led the G League in scoring in both the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons.

Simon was named the G League Coach of the Year in 2018. Simon was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and played high school basketball in California. Simon was drafted by the Orlando Magic in 1998 and played with the team for four seasons.

Simon played for the Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Atlanta Hawks in the NBA before retiring in 2004. Simon has since coached the South Bay Lakers in the G League, leading them to two championships. Simon is married with two children.

Simon is a basketball ambassador and has worked with the NBA and Nike in different capacities. Salim Stoudamire was born on October 11, 1982, in Portland, Oregon. He attended Lincoln High School in Portland and then went on to play college ball in Arizona.

In 2005, the Atlanta Hawks drafted Stoudamire as the 31st overall pick in the NBA draft. After playing two seasons with the Hawks, Stoudamire was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008.

He spent two seasons with the Grizzlies before signing with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2011. Stoudamire retired from the NBA in 2016 after playing with the Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies again.

He currently works as an analyst for NBA TV. Salim Stoudamire is married and has two children. He is a four-time NBA All-Star and two-time Sixth Man of the Year. Salim Stoudamire was a prolific point guard in the NBA for a decade.

He was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection and was a consensus second-team All-American in his final season in the league. Averaging 19.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game in his career, Stoudamire was a presence on the court.

He was known for his explosiveness, playmaking ability, and scoring ability from all areas of the court. After playing for the Atlanta Hawks, Idaho Stampede, and Reno Bighorns, Stoudamire moved to Spain and signed with Guaros de Lara in 2013.

He averaged 13.5 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in his lone season in Europe. After his playing career ended, Stoudamire began an active role in coaching. 

He was an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies for two seasons and was also a part of the coaching staff for the United States men’s national team at the 2013 World Championships.

Oumar Ballo is a 2020 NCAA Division I center for the Arizona Wildcats. He was a two-time All-American at Gonzaga and was a member of the Bulldogs' 2017 NCAA Championship team.

Ballo is the son of a Malian father and Spanish mother. He was born in Koulikoro, Mali in 2002. Ballo played high school basketball for Canterbury Academy in Las Palmas, Spain.

He was a two-time Spanish National League MVP and helped the team to a national championship in his final season. Ballo enrolled at Gonzaga in the fall of 2019 and played in 26 games as a freshman.

He was named Second Team All-WCC and was a member of the Bulldogs' 2017 NCAA Championship team. Ballo averaged 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game as a sophomore. He was named First Team All-WCC and was a member of the Bulldogs' 2019 NCAA Championship team.

Ballo is a projected first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Ramey played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats, where she was a two-time Pac-12 Conference Rookie of the Year and earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors in both 2017 and 2018.

As a junior in 2018, she helped the Wildcats to a conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship, where they won the title. Ramey is a versatile player who can handle the ball and shoot from the field or from beyond the arc.

She is currently a free agent and is considered one of the best point guards in the world. Courtney Ramey is a high school basketball player from Webster Groves, Missouri. She was a third-team All-Big 12 player in 2021 and a NIT champion in 2019. Courtney is also a Mr.

Show-Me Basketball champion. She plans to play basketball at Texas and Arizona next year. Courtney is a great player and we are looking forward to seeing her in action next year.

Wright attended Farragut Academy in Chicago, Illinois before playing college basketball at Arizona. Wright was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 2001 NBA draft and played for the team for six seasons.

In 2009, Wright signed with the Dallas Mavericks and played for them until his retirement in 2015. Wright was a three-time All-Star and won a championship with the Knicks in 2013. Wright was diagnosed with cancer in late 2015 and died a few months later.

Wright was a three-time Turkish League Top Scorer and an all-star with Beşiktaş Cola in 2006 and 2009. 

His stint in Mersin BB was short-lived, but he did lead Cholet Basket to the French Cup in 2015. Wright has spent most of his career playing in Europe, but he has also played for the Polish team Turów Zgorzelec.

Wright is a natural scorer and has averaged 21.5 points per game in his career. Wright has played in three EuroLeague Finals, but he has never won a title.

Anthony Cook was a standout high school player in Van Nuys, California, and was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 1989 NBA Draft. Cook spent four seasons with the Suns, before being traded to the Charlotte Hornets in 1995.

Cook played two more seasons with Charlotte before retiring in 1997. Cook later became a coach with the Memphis Grizzlies, and spent two seasons there before being fired in 2008. 

Cook is currently a scout for the Suns. Anthony Cook was a standout player at the University of Oregon, where he won two consecutive First-team All-Pac-10 honors.

After going undrafted in the 1990 NBA Draft, Cook signed with the Denver Nuggets. He was a mainstay on the Nuggets team during the 1990s, and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 1995. 

After playing for the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks in the early 2000s, Cook retired from professional basketball. Anthony Cook is currently the head coach of the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team.

He has led the Ducks to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, and is considered one of the best coaches in college basketball. Anthony Cook was inducted into the Oregon Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. He is married with two children. Anthony Cook is currently a commentator for NBA games.

Olson then served as the head coach of Western High School in California from 1963 to 1964. Olson then became the head coach of Marina High School in California from 1969 to 1973. Olson then became the head coach of Long Beach City College in Long Beach, California from 1973 to 1974.

Olson then became the head coach of Iowa State University from 1974 to 1983. Olson then became the head coach of Arizona from 1983 to 2008. 

Olson died on August 27, 2020, at the age of 85. Olson is one of the most successful head coaches in NCAA history, compiling a record of 781-280 (.685) in 28 seasons at the collegiate level.

Olson was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. Olson led the Wildcats to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four berth in 1997. 

Olson is a nine-time Pac-10 Coach of the Year and four-time Big Ten Coach of the Year. Olson retired from coaching following the 2011-12 season.

Rooks spent the majority of his career with the Mavericks, but also played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Sacramento Kings. Rooks retired from the NBA in 2012 after playing 12 seasons.

He then spent one season as a coach with the Mavericks' D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends. Rooks died on June 7, 2016, at the age of 46. Rooks played for the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1992 to 2004.

Rooks then had a successful coaching career, including a stint as an assistant with the Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers. In 2014, Sean Rooks was hired as an assistant coach for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Rooks is a well-respected coach and has helped many players achieve success in the NBA.

Al retired from the NBA in 1993, after playing for the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons. Al Fleming passed away from a heart attack on May 14th, 2003 at the age of 49.

Larry Demic is a legendary figure in the NBA and is still considered one of the best players to have ever played the game. He will always be remembered for his impressive achievements. Demic was born in Philadelphia and attended Temple University.

He was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 2nd round of the 1979 NBA draft. He played for the Knicks from 1979 to 1982. In 1983, he was traded to the Crispa Redmanizers. He then played for the Detroit Spirits from 1984 to 1985. He retired from playing in 1985.

Mustafa Shakur was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1984. He attended high school in William Penn and then college at Arizona. He was drafted by the Washington Wizards in the 2007 NBA draft but did not play in the league.

He played in the Polish Prokom Trefl Sopot league in 2007-2008. He played in the Turkish Basketball Super League in 2013-2014. 

He played in the Venezuelan Liga Profesional in 2017-2018. He is currently a free agent. He has played for the Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns.

He has averaged 4.5 points, 2.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds in his career. Mustafa Shakur is a 6'9" power forward/center who was drafted by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft.

 Shakur played college ball at Tulsa 66ers and helped lead the team to the D-League Finals in 2009. After being drafted, Shakur spent a year in the NBA's Development League before joining the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2010.

In 2011, he was traded to the Washington Wizards, where he spent two seasons before joining the Pau-Orthez team in France for the 2013-14 season. In 2014, he was signed to the Tulsa 66ers and spent two more seasons in the D-League.

Hassan Adams was born in Inglewood, California in 1984. Adams attended high school at Westchester in Los Angeles, California, and played college basketball at Arizona.

Bramlett played college basketball at Arizona and was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1999 NBA draft. He played for the Cavs until 2008. Bramlett is best known for his time with the Cavs, where he averaged 8.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Bramlett has also played for the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, and Atlanta Hawks, among others. In 2008, Bramlett was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and played for them until 2013. After playing for the Hawks for one season, Bramlett retired from professional basketball in 2014.
