Arizona Fall League Best Players of All Time

The Arizona Fall League is an exciting and unique event that takes place every autumn in the gorgeous state of Arizona. Operated by Major League Baseball, this special league gives top minor-league prospects a chance to hone their skills in a professional environment against some of the best competition around. With rosters filled with highly talented players from all across Minor League Baseball, the AFL provides fans with both entertainment and insight into what tomorrow’s stars might look like on the big field.

1. Jordan Walker

Walker is a young third baseman and outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was signed as an amateur free agent in 2016, and made his major league debut in 2018.

Walker has a strong batting average (.286) with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs over 127 games played in 2018. Walker also makes good use of his speed on the base paths, recording 38 stolen bases this season while being caught only once Jordan Walker is a pitcher for the Stone Mountain Braves.

He throws right-handed and bats left-handed. Jordan was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 8th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. Jordan has played in 18 games with Stone Mountain this season, posting a 3-1 record with a 2.92 ERA while striking out 31 batters over 27 innings pitched.

Jordan is currently ranked second on team in strikeouts behind only senior Jason Groome (41 Ks). The Georgia native has also been named to both Region III All Star teams as well as being selected to play in the 2017 Under Armour Classic National Title game against Vanderbilt.

2. Zac Veen

Zac Veen is an outfielder for the Colorado Rockies. He was drafted in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Rockies. Zac has played in 43 games for the Rockies so far this season, batting .247 with two home runs and eight RBIs.

Zac attended Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas and starred both on and off of the field before being drafted by professional baseball teams as a junior in high school. 

As a senior at Grapevine High School, he led his team to its second consecutive state championship win while hitting .451 with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs en route to being named Mr.

Baseball USA 2018 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper magazine, earning First Team All-American honors from multiple outlets including ESPN, Yahoo Sports and CBSSportscom along. 

With becoming one of only three players ever to be unanimously voted into both The Dallas Morning News’ Top 100 HS Football Players of All Time (alongside current NFL stars Dak Prescott & Ezekiel Elliott).

As well as accolades such as top selection in Perfect Game Preseason Junior College All American Division 1 Player Of The Year Award Watchlist & Honorable Mention Catcher Scout Classic Elite 11 Finalist.

3. Nick Gonzales

Nick Gonzales

Nick Gonzales was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 22nd round of the 2016 MLB Draft. In 2017, he played for the State College Spikes and posted a .283 batting average with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs.

He signed with the Altoona Curve in 2018 and hit .291 with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs while playing shortstop, second base, third base, and left field. The Pirates assigned him to their AA affiliate Bradenton Marauders in 2019 where he hit .297 with 16 home runs and 72 RBIs in 130 games played.

He was named an MiLB midseason All-Star after hitting .296/.341/.594 (123 wRC+) with 25 HR & 96 R/49 BB over 98 games between Altoona & Bradenton this season Nick Gonzales was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. 

Nick Gonzales is an infielder who played for Arizona State University before being selected in the draft.

Nick Gonzales has been described as a two-way player with good speed and range, making him valuable both on offense and defense at second base or shortstop. 

At 23 years old, it's still too early to tell what kind of player Nick Gonzales will become, but he has all the makings of a successful major league player down pat.

4. Matt Mervis

Matt Mervis

Matt Mervis is a relief pitcher who has played for the Chicago Cubs since 2022. Mervis was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 31st round of the 2018 MLB Draft, but chose to go play college baseball at Iowa.

In his two seasons with Iowa, he finished third and second in strikeouts respectively, earning him a selection to USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team in 2020. 

After being drafted by the Cubs, Mervis made his professional debut with their Rookie-level AZL team before making his major league debut later that season against Milwaukee Brewers.

He appeared in 17 games as a rookie and posted an 8-2 record with 9 saves and 2 holds while striking out 27 batters over 33 innings pitched. Matt Mervis is a 24-year-old first baseman who was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the fifth round of the 2017 MLB Draft. 

Mervis played college baseball at Clemson, where he hit .326 with 43 home runs and 128 RBI in 156 games. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox in 2018 and led all minor leaguers in hits (143), doubles (37) and triples (7).

The 6'0", 225-pounder is considered to have strong hands and good speed for a first baseman, which will give him an edge on competition for playing time in Triple A this season.  

If he performs well at Pawtucket this year, it's possible that Mervis could see some action with the Red Sox later this season or even during their playoff run if they make it that far.

5. Henry Davis

Henry Davis

Henry Davis was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on September 20th, 1995. He attended the University of Florida where he played for the Florida Gators baseball team.

Davis made his professional debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates organisation in 2017 and has since appeared in over 100 games between both levels of minor league baseball.

In 2018, Henry won a Gold Glove Award as one of the best defensive second baseman in all of MLB and also earned All-Star recognition at that level. 

The 21 year old is currently playing for the Curve organization and is considered to be one of their key players up front due to his outstanding fielding abilities as well as powerful hitting abilities from both sides of the plate Davis is a young catcher who was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft.

Davis had a breakout season in 2017, hitting .269 with 12 home runs and 66 RBIs while catching for University of South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team. Davis has good glovework behind the plate as well as power potential at the plate which should make him an asset to any team he joins in professional baseball.

6. Jasson Dominguez

Jasson Dominguez

Dominguez was drafted in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. Dominguez is a left-handed hitter and has been noted for his speed and plate discipline.

Dominguez made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Yankees in 2018, hitting .287/.360/.484 with four home runs and 34 RBIs in 55 games played. 

In 2019, Dominguez split time between Class A Charleston (111 games) and Double-A Trenton (31 games), posting batting averages of .269/.345/.447 with six home runs and 45 RBIs.

In 2020, he began the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before being called up to make his major league debut on September 1st against Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez.

He went 2 for 4 with an RBI that day Dominguez was signed by the Astros as an international free agent in 2013. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Astros in 2016 and hit .333/.405/.583 with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs in 49 games.

Dominguez played for the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League in 2017, posting a combined batting line of .285/.356/.567 with 20 home runs and 83 RBIs in 131 games. 

The 19-year-old is currently playing for the Fresno Grizzlies of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, where he has posted a slash line of .294/.378/.574 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs in 78 games this season.

7. Jordan Lawlar

Jordan Lawlar is a shortstop for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was drafted in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Diamondbacks. Jordan made his professional debut with Rookie-level Johnson City and hit .274/.347/.402 over 57 games in 2018.

In 2019, he played 37 games for Double-A Mobile and hit .291/.359/.457 with 5 home runs and 25 RBIs before being called up to Triple-A Reno where he finished out the season hitting .284/.348/.445 with 11 homeruns and 45 RBIs in 116 games played overall.

Jordan has had some success at both levels of baseball thus far, showing that he has all of the tools needed to be a successful big league player down the road Jordan is a right-handed pitcher who throws in the mid-90s. He was drafted by the Royals in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

Jordan made his professional debut with the Burlington Bees, but spent most of 2017 pitching for their minor league affiliate, Omaha Storm Chasers. In 2018 he pitched for both Wichita Wingnuts and Kansas City Royals' Triple A team, Omaha Storm Chasers before being called up to Kansas City on September 1st .

Jordan has appeared in two games thus far this season with one start (against Baltimore Orioles) recording 5 strikeouts over 6 innings pitched while allowing 3 hits and 2 runs scored. 

After starting 2019 back at Omaha where he's currently pitching, it looks like there is a good chance that Jordan will make his major league debut later this year or early 2020.

8. Jackson Merrill

Jackson Merrill was born in 2003 and is a shortstop for the San Diego Padres. He made his debut with the team in 2017, playing in 18 games before being sidelined by an injury.

Merrill has spent most of his time at shortstop, but he has also played second base and third base during his career. In 2018, Merrill had another strong season as he finished with a .277 batting average along with 10 home runs and 68 RBIs.

His impressive performance led to him earning selection to the American League All-Star Team for the first time in his career this year. 

Merrill is currently under contract with the Padres through 2020, so there's plenty of potential for him to continue developing as one of baseball's best young players Jackson Merrill is a left-handed pitcher who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 26th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Merrill attended Clemson University and finished his career with a record of 10-7, 2.65 ERA, 153 strikeouts and only 39 walks over 143 innings pitched. 

He made his professional debut in 2018 with the Gulf Coast League Orioles where he went 1-0 with a 0.80 ERA before being promoted to Advanced A Frederick County where he posted an 8-4 record and 2:01 ERA before making his Major League debut on July 25th against Toronto. 

In 4 games (3 starts) for Baltimore, he has been 3-1 with a 3.48 ERA, 20 strikeouts and 7 walks over 23 innings pitched (.190 BAA).

His first career win came on August 15th against Minnesota when he allowed one run over 6 innings while recording 5 strikeouts in what would be his final start of the season. 

After being traded to Cleveland along with Ryan Mountcastle, Dylan Bundy, Yefri Perez and Jorge Mateo for Manny Machado on November 18 th Jackson Merrill will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself this upcoming season as one of Cleveland's top pitching prospects.

9. Heston Kjerstad

Heston Kjerstad

Heston Kjerstad was born on September 25th, 1992 in Nairobi, Kenya. He started playing baseball at the age of six and quickly developed a love for the sport.

In 2009, he moved to America where he attended college and played minor-league baseball with several teams before signing with the Orioles in 2017. Kjerstad is known as an excellent defensive catcher and has compiled a batting average of .266 over his career thus far.

He made his major league debut on July 29th, 2017 against the Blue Jays and has since appeared in 63 games overall for Baltimore (47 starts). 

Heston Kjerstad is a 23-year-old outfielder for the Texas Rangers. He was drafted by the team in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in 2017.

In 132 games played between AAA and MLB, he has batted .284 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs. Heston is known for his speed, having stolen 131 bases in 133 attempts across two levels of baseball (AAA & ML). 

His favorite pastime off the field is spending time with his wife and two young children; he also enjoys fishing, playing basketball, golfing, skiing, biking, and running marathons.

10. Nick Yorke

Nick Yorke is a second baseman for the Boston Red Sox. He was drafted by the Red Sox in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft. Nick has played in minor league baseball and has also appeared in one game for the Red Sox.

In 2017, he made his MLB debut and had an impressive season, batting .282 with 10 home runs and 54 RBIs. In 2018, Nick once again had an outstanding year, posting career highs in almost every category including batting average (.302), homers (15), RBIs (68) and doubles (24).

At just 20 years old, Nick is already considered one of the best second basemen in baseball and looks to continue his success into future seasons Nick Yorke is a right-handed pitcher who has spent time in the minor leagues. 

He attended Newport Beach High School and was drafted by the Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2014 MLB Draft.

In his first professional season, he pitched for Short Season Lowell (A) where he posted an 8-6 record with a 3.60 ERA in 25 appearances (24 starts). In 2015, Yorke made his full-season debut with Lowelwhere he went 9-5 with a 2.62 ERA in 27 appearances (26 starts). 

He was promoted to Double-A Portland during the 2016 season and finished 4th in American League Rookie of The Year voting after going 12-8 with a 2.38 ERA over 29 appearances (28 starts).

He received another promotion to Triple A Pawtucket during 2017 and finished 5th among qualifying pitchers in wins total at 24 while posting career bests striking out 97 batters over 102 innings pitched as well as holding opponents to a .211 batting average against him (.261 when leading off an inning). 

His 2018 campaign was limited due to injury, but still saw him post quality numbers including 11 victories against just four losses combined between Pawtucket and Boston's AAA affiliate Charlotte Knights finishing 10th overall among qualified starters according to Fangraphs WAR metric.

11. JJ Bleday

JJ Bleday

JJ Bleday is a left-handed outfielder who was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft. He played college baseball at Vanderbilt and hit .352 with 54 home runs and 162 RBIs in his three seasons there.

Bleday has been praised for his hitting ability, speed, defense, and baserunning potential. JJ Bleday is a young and talented pitcher who has had an up-and-down career to date. 

JJ was drafted by the Marlins in the 4th round of the 2020 MLB Draft, and he made his debut with them in 2022.

He's struggled at times with control issues but has shown flashes of brilliance, most notably when he pitched a no hitter for Miami back in September of that year. JJ will hope to build on this performance and continue to develop as a pitcher in order to cement himself as one of baseball's top talents down the line.

It'll be interesting to see what direction JJ takes over the next few years - there are some real potentialities here.

12. Nelson Velazquez

Nelson Velazquez

Nelson Velázquez is a 24-year old outfielder for the Chicago Cubs. He was drafted by the Cubs in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Florida State University.

Velazquez has made significant progress in his four years with FSU, hitting .309/.378/.543 with 36 doubles, 11 triples, and 16 home runs over 151 games played as a junior and senior.

In 61 plate appearances during rookie ball last year, he hit .292 with two home runs and six RBIs on 18 hits (.389 OBP). 

With experience at both shortstop (33 games) and third base (15), Velazquez is likely to see time all over the diamond if he makes it to The Show – which isn't farfetched considering how well he's performed throughout his minor league career thus far.

He possesses an above average defensive tool set that should play anywhere on the field barring catastrophe; however, his biggest asset may be his ability to drive in Runs Scored while batting eighth or ninth in order to put pressure on opposing pitchers late into games or series'. 

Although not considered one of baseball's best power hitters due to lack thereof compared to other superstars such as Miguel Cabrera or Bryce Harper, Nelson Velázquez still packs a punch thanks largely to excellent contact skills coupled with outstanding barrel control/power potential when needed most.

Nelson knows how try hard every day," Gators Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan said after signing him out of high school back in 2015 according "FSU Sports Information". "He comes from great parents who have instilled pride and work ethic within him since young age."

There are guys like Trout [Mike Trout], Altuve [Edwin Encarnacion] I feel very blessed because I know there are players like this across Major League Baseball," Velazquez told reporters following FSU's College World Series run last season according to "GatorsOnline".com.

But you just never know what could happen so you always got got have your eye open." Nelson velásquez.

13. Gabriel Moreno

Gabriel Moreno is a young catcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela and has been playing baseball since he was very young.

Gabriel Moreno made his professional debut in 2017 with the rookie-level Kane County Cougars and hit .270 with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs in 49 games. 

In 2018, he played for both the Double-A Mobile BayBears and Triple-A Reno Aces, batting .282/.346/.474 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs between the two levels.

The 22-year old Gabriel Moreno is considered one of the top catching prospects in all of baseball, as evidenced by his consistent success at each level of ball he's played thus far in his career Gabriel Moreno made his MLB debut with the Toronto Blue Jays on June 11, 2022. 

Gabriel Moreno batted .319 with 1 home run and 7 RBI in 22 games during his rookie season.

Gabriel Moreno is from the Dominican Republic and played college ball at Clemson University before being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2nd round of the 2020 MLB Draft. 

Gabriel Moreno is a left-handed hitter who has shown power potential in both batting average and home runs during his short career thus far. Gabriel Moreno will likely spend most of 2018 playing for Double-A New Hampshire before potentially moving up to Triple-A Buffalo next year if he continues to perform well.

14. Bryson Stott

Bryson Stott

Bryson Stott was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Bryson is a shortstop and second baseman, but his future at either position is up in the air due to injuries he's dealt with throughout his career.

Bryson has an impressive stat line for a player who only made it through parts of three seasons in professional baseball: 2 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases over 83 games played between short-season ball (A) and low Single A ball (SS). 

The 25-year old is still learning on the fly as he adjusts to life outside of college athletics where everything happens so quickly.

There's no doubting that Bryson has talent; it will be up to him to put it all together on the field if he wants to stay with the Phillies long term. Bryson Stott made his MLB debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in April of 2022. 

Bryson is a left-handed hitter, and has so far hit 10 home runs during his career. He also has 49 RBIs to his name, and is averaging just .234 batting average across all seasons he's played thus far.

Bryson was drafted by the Phillies in the 21st round of the 2020 MLB Draft, and looks poised to continue playing at a high level for many years to come.

15. Masyn Winn

Masyn Winn is a 20-year-old shortstop for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was drafted in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft and has made steady progress since then.

Masyn Winn stands at 6'1", weighs 195 pounds, and bats lefthanded. He has excellent speed and defense, which have helped him to become one of the top young shortstops in baseball.

Masyn Winn attended high school at Gateway High School in Maryland before transferring to American Heritage College where he played college ball as a freshman and sophomore. 

In 101 minor league games (A+, AA, AAA), Masyn Win has hit .278 with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs so far this season between Myrtle Beach Pelicans (SAL) & Memphis Redbirds (AAA).

Masyn Winn is a right-handed pitcher who played collegiately at the University of Texas. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 5th round of the 2016 MLB Draft and made his professional debut with their Rookie ball affiliate, the GCL Blue Jays. 

In 9 innings pitched, he has allowed 3 earned runs on 12 hits while striking out 7 batters. Winn also spent time with both short season A ball teams, the Vancouver Canadians and Dunedin Blue Jays before being traded to Tampa Bay Rays organization for international signing bonus pool space purposes.

Masyn returned to Tampa Bay after spending most of 2018 with their AA affiliate Durham Bulls where he posted an 8-7 record with a 4.33 ERA in 123 innings pitched (136 total).

16. Triston Casas

Triston Casas

Triston Casas is a 22-year-old first baseman for the Boston Red Sox. He was drafted in the third round of the 2018 MLB draft by the team and made his debut with them in September 2022.

He has played in 33 games thus far, batting .197 with 3 RBIs. Triston is originally from Pembroke Pines, Florida and is a lefty hitter who throws right-handed Triston Casas is a 2022 Boston Red Sox player.

He is a left-handed hitter and throws right-handed. Triston has 5 home runs in 2022, 12 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases through his first 6 games of the season. Triston was born on February 10th, 2020 in San Diego, California to parents Esther and Orlando Casas.

His younger brother Romain also plays baseball for the Junior Padres (San Diego's minor league team). In high school he played for Saint Francis High School where he hit .472 with 18 home runs over 3 seasons before being drafted by the Red Sox in 2019 as their second round pick (#53 overall).

During spring training in 2021 he competed against other young players for a chance to make the Opening Day roster but did not win any playing time until late May when injuries began piling up on both sides of the ball.

Eventually losing his spot to Jack Duggan who would go on to have an All-Star year at third base for Boston that year (.291 batting average/.357 OBP/.492 SLG with 11 HR & 63 RBIs).

Triston signed with Team USA's U18 Baseball World Cup team last summer where he led all American hitters with 8 homers while hitting .462 overall throughout 7 games including 1 walk off homer against Cuba during pool play.

Which helped secure America's place in the semifinals (they lost 4-0 against Japan); finishing 2nd behind only teammate Jack Duggan (.528 AVG / .727 OPS) among all players aged 16 or 17 years old competing at this level worldwide.

17. Ezequiel Durán

Durán was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He is a switch hitter and has played both shortstop and second base in his career to date.

Durán has drawn comparisons to José Altuve due to his ability to hit for average, power, and speed. Durán made his professional debut with the AZL Rangers in 2017 but spent most of that season with Class A Short Season Spokane before being promoted to Class AA Frisco at the end of the year.

In 129 games between those two levels, he slashed .278/.362/.506 with 24 home runs and 95 RBIs over 622 plate appearances. The 23-year old underwent surgery on his right thumb during Spring Training this year but should be ready for Opening Day 2019 barring any further setbacks. 

Durán is a right-handed hitter and thrower who was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

Durán made his MLB debut on June 4, 2022, with the Rangers. In his rookie season, he batted .236 with 5 home runs and 25 RBIs. Durán has shown great potential as a pitcher in minor league baseball, posting a 2.98 ERA over 63 innings pitched between Class A Hickory and Double-A Round Rock in 2019. 

Durán is considered to be one of the top young players in baseball and should continue to improve as he advances through the ranks of professional baseball.

18. Brennen Davis

Brennen Davis

Brennen Davis was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the eighth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Davis spent two seasons with the Iowa Cubs, where he hit .272 with 12 home runs and 71 RBIs in 142 games.

The 25-year-old outfielder is expected to make his major league debut with the Cubs this season. Davis is a versatile outfielder who can play in the middle of the field or on the corners. He has good speed and strong arm that make him an asset in center field.

Davis also has experience at first base, which helps him to have versatility on the offensive side of the ball as well. His rookie season was cut short by a knee injury, but he looks to come back stronger in 2019 with another chance to show what he can do on MLB level.

19. Brett Baty

Brett Baty is a third baseman for the New York Mets. He was drafted in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft and made his debut with the team this season.

Brett has had a solid rookie campaign, hitting .282 with 5 home runs and 28 RBIs. His standout performance came against Philadelphia on July 15th when he hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Mets their first win of the season.

Brett is also known for his strong defense at third base, making several spectacular plays throughout 2018 that have caught fans' attention. In 2019, Baty will aim to continue his success by improving his batting average and reaching more importantly - helping lead his team to victory.

Brett Baty made his MLB debut with the New York Mets in 2022. He had a batting average of .184 and two home runs in 56 games played during his rookie season. 

Brett is from Louisiana and has been playing baseball since he was a young child. In addition to baseball, Brett also participates in track and field events at LSU.

20. Austin Wells

Austin Wells is a catcher for the New York Yankees. He was drafted by the Yankees in the second round of the 2017 MLB draft. Wells has played in just four games this season, all as a reserve, due to an injury sustained earlier in the year.

In 2016, Wells hit .284 with 14 home runs and 68 RBIs across 123 games for Class A Staten Island Yankees and Double-A Trenton Thunder. Wells attended high school at Bishop Eustace Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he starred both on and off the field as a two-time All-America selection (2015 & 2016).

As captain of his team during his senior year, Austin led Bishop Eustace to their first state championship since 2010 while batting .488 with seven home runs and 38 doubles over 33 tournament games (.920 slugging percentage). 

After being drafted by the Yankees, Wells committed himself fully to making it to Major League Baseball - foregoing college baseball opportunities so that he could focus solely on honing his skills at minor league levels before arriving in The Bronx next April.

21. Juan Yepez

Juan Yepez

Juan Yepez is a 24-year-old outfielder and first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was signed by the Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 2018 and made his Major League debut that year.

Kilian made his major league debut with the Cubs on July 26, 2019 against the Milwaukee Brewers and finished with a no decision. Injuries have limited him to just 10 appearances (8 starts) since then, but he has posted an 8-5 record with a 3.60 ERA and 115 strikeouts over 102 IPs so far this season for Iowa Cubs affiliate, AAA Tennessee Smokies Caleb Kilian made his MLB debut with the Chicago Cubs in June of 2022.

Caleb is a right-handed pitcher and has thus far failed to record a win or loss on the season. His ERA currently stands at 10.32, and he's struck out just 9 batters so far this year. Caleb was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2016, but elected to sign with the Cubs instead due to their better organization and playing situation for him at that time; however, he has since been traded back to Detroit (along with Jeimer Candelario) as part of the Justin Verlander trade in 2020.

Justin Foscue, 26, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 10th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. A left-handed pitcher from Southern Methodist University, Justin competed for SMU as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to Oklahoma State in 2017.

In his one season with OSU, he posted an 8-4 record with a 3.12 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 113 innings pitched. He led OU State to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998 by finishing third in conference play with a 12-5 record and 2nd place finish at regionals behind LSU Tigers (who went on to win national title).

The 6’1″ lefty is signed through 2022 with potential options for 2024 or 2025 depending on performance levels. 

Foscue is a very talented and promising second baseman. He has an impressive batting average and hits for power. Foscue will be an important part of the Braves' future, especially if they want to contend in the near future.

He needs to work on his fielding skills, but he has potential to be one of the best at that position in the league someday. Overall, Justin Foscue is a very exciting young player who should continue to improve over time.

As an amateur, he hit .351/.436/.650 with 10 home runs and 62 RBIs in 118 games played as a middle infielder, second baseman, shortstop, and third baseman over four seasons of college ball at USC before being drafted by Houston out of high school Korey Lee was drafted by the Houston Astros in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

Logan Davidson is a shortstop for the Oakland Athletics. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Logan played college baseball at Vanderbilt University, where he won two national championships (2018 and 2017).

In his rookie season with the A's, Davidson had an average batting line (.269/.327/.421) with four home runs and 16 RBIs in 102 games. In 2019, Davidson slashed .283/.335/.469 with seven homers and 31 RBIs in 127 games as Oakland made it to their first ever postseason appearance since 2000.

In 2006 he won a Silver Slugger Award as an outfielder with the Los Angeles Dodgers and also finished second in voting for Rookie of the Year that season. Luis Matos is currently a manager with the independent Worcester Railers organization in Massachusetts.

Dernell Stenson is survived by his wife and two young children. Dernell Stenson had a successful MLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2003. He was an All-Star that season and batted over .250 for the year.

Following his success, he signed with the Washington Nationals but never achieved as much success there as he did in Cincinnati. In 2007, Dernell Stenson retired from baseball after playing for several teams around the league including Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles.

Spencer Torkelson

Spencer Torkelson is a 23-year-old first baseman and third baseman for the Detroit Tigers. Spencer Torkelson was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Tigers in 2019, hitting .269/.337/.421 with 10 doubles and 2 home runs in 66 games. 

In 2020, Spencer Torkelson split time between Single A Lakeland and Double A Erie, slashing .307/.371/.527 with 14 doubles and 6 home runs in 109 combined games.

In 2021, Spencer Torkelson started at Triple A Toledo where he hit .315/.378/563 with 20 doubles and 8 home runs over 123 games played (all but 1 as designated hitter). 

On September 5th, 2022, Spencer Torkelson was called up tojointheDetroitTigers Major Leagues roster after batting .327with Toledo over 133games played that season (1 shy of qualifying for an IL All-Star Game slot).

At age 24 years old on October 4th , and 22nd , Torkelsons fourth MLB season began when he pinch hit for Justin Verlander against Cleveland Indians pitcher Ryan Merritt.

hitting a two run homer off Merritt to give Detroit an 8–0 lead which they would hold onto going on to win 11–8.

He finished 3rd among AL rookies behind only Miguel Andujar of Yankees & Yairo Patino of White Sox.

While it is difficult to choose a definitive “best player” from Arizona Fall League history, these five individuals are certainly among the most talented and successful participants ever.
