The 2004 NFL Draft marked an exciting time for football fans, as it saw the emergence of some of the league’s greatest players from the collegiate level. With teams vying for the best prospects, it was sure to be a memorable event.

Taking place at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the two-day event featured 254 selections from across the country. It was the time for teams to make their picks and shape the future of their franchises.

Vernon Carey was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Carey spent six seasons with the Dolphins before signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2011.

Carey played in all 16 games in 2011, but was released by the Bills in 2012. Carey signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2012, but was released by the Falcons in 2013. Carey signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2013, but was released by the Browns in 2014.

Carey signed with the Oakland Raiders in 2014, but was released by the Raiders in 2015. Carey signed with the Detroit Lions in 2015, but was released by the Lions in 2016. Carey signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2016, but was released by the Buccaneers in 2017.

Marcus Tubbs was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2004 NFL Draft. Tubbs played for the Cowboys from 2004 to 2009. Tubbs played college football at Texas.

He was a two-time All-American and won the Butkus Award as the nation's best linebacker. Tubbs was highly productive during his NFL career. He recorded 551 tackles, 31 sacks, and 5 interceptions.

Tubbs announced his retirement from the NFL after the 2009 season. Tubbs is currently a defensive tackle coach for the Cowboys. Marcus Tubbs is married and has three children. Marcus Tubbs was a four-year starter at linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks from 2004 to 2007.

Tubbs was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2003, and he also earned All-American honors that year. Tubbs played in 60 games in his career, recording 7.0 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Tubbs was released by the Seahawks in 2007, but he later signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

Kenechi Udeze is an assistant defensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans. Udeze was born in Los Angeles, California and played football at Los Angeles Verbum Dei High School.

He played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2004 to 2007 and was a Pro Bowler in 2006. Udeze then became an assistant coach for the USC Trojans and helped the team to a national title in 2012.

He was hired by the Titans in 2017 and has since helped the team to a playoff appearance in 2018. Kenechi Udeze has been coaching in the NFL for the past six years, most recently with the Seattle Seahawks.

He has coached at the college level for five years, most recently with the USC Trojans. He has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach in the NFL and college ranks. Udeze has a degree in exercise science from the University of Utah.

Will Poole was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2004 NFL Draft and played for the team from 2004-2006. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007 and played for the team for one year.

He then signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 2007 and played for the team for two years. He was released by the Toronto Argonauts in 2009 and signed with the Tennessee Titans the same year. He was released by the Tennessee Titans in 2010 and signed with the Cleveland Browns the same year.

He was released by the Cleveland Browns in 2011 and signed with the Houston Texans the same year. He was released by the Houston Texans in 2012 and signed with the San Diego Chargers the same year. Sean Ryan was a tight end for the Dallas Cowboys from 2004-2005. Ryan was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Ryan spent two seasons with the Jets before joining the Miami Dolphins in 2008.

Ryan spent two seasons with the Dolphins before signing with the New Orleans Saints in 2008. Ryan spent three seasons with the Saints before retiring in 2013. Sean Ryan is currently the tight ends coach for the Buffalo Bills.

Ryan was inducted into the Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame in 2018. Sean Ryan has two children and one grandchild. Sean Ryan is a passionate outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing. Sean Ryan was a very reliable and consistent receiver for the 49ers over the past few seasons.

Sean Ryan is a good locker room presence. Sean Ryan will be a key receiver for the Chiefs in the upcoming season. Sean Ryan is a good NFL player who can help his team win games.

6. Matthias Askew

Matthias Askew was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played for the team from 2004 to 2005. Askew was a defensive tackle for the Bengals.

He played in 48 games and recorded 97 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries. Askew has also played for the Oakland Raiders (2006), Jacksonville Jaguars (2007), and Tennessee Titans (2008).

Askew is currently a free agent and has not signed with a team since the 2008 NFL season. Matthias Askew is a former Michigan State Spartan and is currently 40 years old. 

Matthias Askew was a standout lineman at the University of Minnesota, and the Redskins took him with the 134th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Askew played in all 16 games as a rookie, starting three. He was part of a Redskins line that struggled, however, and he was released in 2009. Askew signed with the Broncos, and he quickly became a starter. 

He played in all 16 games in 2008, and was a key part of Denver's playoff run. The Lions signed Askew in 2009, and he started all 16 games.

He was part of a line that helped Detroit to a 10-6 record and a playoff berth. Askew was released by the Lions in 2010, and he signed with the Argonauts. He started all 12 games for Toronto in 2011, and was part of the team that won the Grey Cup.

7. Darrion Scott

Darrion Scott was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played for the team from 2004 to 2007. Scott recorded 72 tackles, 93 sacks, and 76 tackles for losses in his four-year NFL career.

After leaving the NFL, Scott played for the Cleveland Browns and the Carolina Panthers. Scott is currently playing for the Arizona Cardinals. Scott was a dominant defensive tackle at the college level and was a first-round pick of the Washington Redskins in the 2010 NFL Draft.

He made an immediate impact with the Redskins, leading the team in tackles in his rookie season. Scott has continued to be a force in the NFL, making Pro Bowls in both the 2012 and 2013 seasons. 

Scott is a versatile player, able to play both on the interior and on the edge. He is a strong tackling player who is always in the mix for awards and accolades. Scott is in the final year of his contract with the Redskins and could be a candidate for free agency in the next few years. 

He is a leader on and off the field and is a mainstay in the Redskins’ defense. Scott is a versatile player who can play in any system and is a key part of the team’s success. Scott is a dominant player at the defensive tackle position and is one of the best in the NFL.

8. Caleb Miller

Caleb Miller is a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys. Miller was born in Seguin, Texas and attended high school in Sulphur Springs. He played college football at Arkansas.

Miller has played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys since 2006. Miller has had a successful NFL career, playing in 112 games and registering 511 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

Miller is a member of the Dallas Cowboys' "All-Time" Team. Miller is a two-time Pro Bowler and was named to the All-Pro Second Team in 2008. Miller is a respected member of the Dallas Cowboys community and is a regular attendee of local charities and events.

Miller is married and has two children. Caleb Miller was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played for the Bengals from 2004 to 2007. He had a successful career with the Bengals, playing in 50 games and making 36 starts.

Miller was a key contributor for the Bengals, playing a role in their playoff appearances in 2005 and 2006. He also won a Super Bowl with the Bengals in 2006. After his playing career ended, Miller became a coach for the team's secondary. He was named the defensive backs coach for the Bengals in 2013.

Miller is a successful coach, having led the Bengals' secondary to back-to-back AFC North titles in 2014 and 2015. Caleb Miller is a successful NFL player and coach who has had a long and successful career.

Tim Anderson was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 2004 NFL Draft. Anderson spent four seasons with the Bills before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 2007.

Anderson played in 118 games with the Bills, Falcons, and Miami Dolphins over his career. Anderson was a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection. Anderson was born in Clyde, Ohio and attended Clyde High School.

Anderson is married and has two children. Anderson currently works as a personal trainer. Anderson is active in his community and participates in various charity events. Anderson is a member of the NFL Alumni Association and the Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame.

Tim Anderson is a linebacker from the University of Connecticut. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Anderson has been a starter for the Cowboys since 2009 and has played in 118 games. He has recorded 461 tackles, 9 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

Anderson is a versatile linebacker who can play in the middle or on the outside. Anderson is a hard hitter who is always fighting for the ball. 

Anderson is a smart player who reads the play well. Anderson is a leader on the Cowboys defense and is always setting the example. Anderson is a very consistent player who never makes mistakes.

10. Gibril Wilson

Gibril Wilson was a safety for the New York Giants from 2004-2007. He played college football at Tennessee and was drafted in the fifth round in 2004. He was a part of the Giants team that went to the Super Bowl in 2006.

He signed with the Houston Texans in 2007, but was released in August. He has since played for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons. He has also been a part of the United States national team. He is currently a free agent and is trying to find a new team.

Gibril Wilson is a native of Freetown, Sierra Leone and is 41 years old. He played college football at Tennessee and was drafted in the fifth round in 2004. 

Gibril Wilson was drafted in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Wilson played for the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2013 offseason.

In the 2014 season, Wilson tallied 78 tackles and two interceptions. Wilson was released by the Eagles in the middle of the 2016 season and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilson played in all 16 games for the Chiefs in 2016 and 2017, tallying 66 tackles and one interception. 

Wilson was released by the Chiefs in early November of 2017. Wilson signed with the Detroit Lions in December of 2017 and recorded three sacks in eight games.

Wilson was released by the Lions in early December of 2018. Wilson is currently signed with the Atlanta Falcons and has played in five games. Wilson has notched five tackles and one interception for the Falcons.

11. B. J. Sander

B. J. Sander is a punter for the Packers. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1980. He attended Ohio State University. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft.

He has played for the Packers (2004-2005) and the Hamburg Sea Devils (2005). He has also played for the Atlanta Falcons (2006) and the Arizona Cardinals (2007-2008). He has twice been named to the Pro Bowl (2007, 2008).

He has a total of 4,744 punts in his career. He is currently a free agent. An undrafted free agent out of Division III Wesleyan, B.J. Sander has carved out a niche as one of the top punters in the NFL. Sander is a two-time Ray Guy Award recipient (2003, 2007) and a BCS national champion with the St.

Louis Rams in 2002. His 53-yard punt in the NFC Championship Game against the Carolina Panthers in 2003 is still the longest in postseason history. 

In 14 NFL seasons, Sander has punted for 2,508 yards, with an average of 44.8 yards per punt. He is also a two-time Pro Bowler and a member of the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s.

Trey Darilek was a four-time Pro Bowler with the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. Darilek was drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Darilek played for the Eagles for two seasons before being traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2006. Darilek spent four seasons with the Dolphins and won a Super Bowl with Miami in 2007.

Darilek was released by the Dolphins in 2009 and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs the following year. Darilek spent one season with the Chiefs before retiring in 2011. Darilek is currently an analyst for the NFL Network.

Trey Darilek was born on April 23, 1981 in San Antonio, Texas. Darilek is 41 years old and 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) tall. Trey Darilek was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2007 NFL Draft. Trey Darilek started his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007.

He then attended Georgia Tech and played football for the Yellow Jackets. Nat Dorsey was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Nat Dorsey has played for the Titans, Los Angeles Rams, and Baltimore Ravens. He has also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. Nat Dorsey has appeared in 112 games in the NFL and has registered 485 tackles, 16 sacks, and one interception.

Leon Joe was a linebacker for the Chicago Bears from 2004-2007. Joe had a successful career in the NFL, playing for the Arizona Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.

Joe played in a total of 106 games and had 242 tackles, six sacks, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Joe was released by the Bears in 2007 and signed with the Cardinals, where he played until he was released in 2010.

Joe signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010 and played for the team until he was released in 2013. Alex Stepanovich was born in 1981 in Berea, Ohio and played college football at Ohio State. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 2004 NFL Draft and has since played for the Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Oakland Raiders.

Alex is currently a center for the Raiders and has appeared in over 100 games in the NFL. Alex is a three-time Pro Bowler and is one of only two players in NFL history to record over 1,000 career tackles and 50 sacks. He then attended Nevada and played linebacker for the football team. In 2004, he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the NFL Draft. He has played for the Browns, the Oakland Raiders, and the Houston Texans.

He has also played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens. He has also been a member of the San Diego Chargers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jorge Cordova is currently a linebacker for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He has made over 230 tackles and five sacks in his career. Jorge Cordova was drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jorge Cordova played for the Jacksonville Jaguars for four seasons (2004-2006) and then spent one season with the Miami Dolphins (2007).

Jacob Bell was drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played for the Titans from 2004-2007 before being released. Bell attended St.

Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Bell played college football at Miami (OH). He was a two-time All-American and was named the Big East Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2002.

Bell was drafted by the Titans after he impressed in the NFL Combine. He played in 13 games for the Titans in 2004 and started one. Bell was released by the Titans in 2007 and has not played in the NFL since.

He is currently a guard for the Cleveland Browns. Bell is married and has two children. Jacob Bell was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams.

Keith Lewis played for the San Francisco 49ers from 2004-2008 and the Arizona Cardinals from 2009*. Lewis was a safety for both teams and was a key part of their defenses.

He was a sixth round pick by the 49ers in the 2004 NFL Draft and played for them for six seasons. Lewis signed with the Cardinals in 2009 and played for them for two seasons before retiring.

Jamaar Taylor played wide receiver for the Texas A&M Aggies from 2001 to 2004. He caught 116 passes for 1,691 yards and 13 touchdowns in his college career.

After leaving Texas A&M, Taylor signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent in 2005. He spent two seasons with the Raiders, catching 23 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns.

Taylor signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007. He spent four seasons with the Colts, catching 118 passes for 1,699 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2013, Taylor signed with the Detroit Lions.

He spent two seasons with the Lions, catching 52 passes for 713 yards and four touchdowns. Taylor was released by the Lions in 2015 and signed with the Buffalo Bills the next year. He spent one season with the Bills, catching six passes for 73 yards.

Taylor has not played in the NFL since 2016. He has played in the Canadian Football League for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts. Taylor is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 2009. Taylor and his wife, Tanisha, have three children.

Taylor is a native of Germany and is of Jamaican descent.

Final Words

2004 NFL Draft was one of the most exciting drafts in NFL history. Some of the best players to ever play in the NFL were drafted in 2004. These players include Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees.

These players have all gone on to have successful careers and are some of the best in the league.
